Hi! I came across your blog because i was looking for this blog that lists the actual locations of the bl sets. Im not sure if that blog is yours but i am hoping you can tell me where that bridge in tonhon chonlatee is located (or you might point me to someone who might know where it is). Thank you so much!
Hi! I am not that blog, unfortunately; my knowledge of Thai geography is very minimal, and I haven't seen Tonhon Chonlatee yet. But I can try to point you to blogs who may be. Off the top of my head: @colourme-feral has been tracking locations, @liyazaki has been to Thailand, and I'm pretty sure @piningbisexuals lives there. I'm not sure whether @callipigio or @respectthepetty would know, but i'll tag them in anyway because they're also tracking shared sets. And @heretherebedork, @bengiyo and @absolutebl all know a lot about Thai BLs in general.
Since I haven't seen Tonhon Chonlatee I don't know the bridge, but I will take a stab in the dark anyways and guess that it's the Rama VIII bridge in Bangkok, just because it shows up in like a quarter of Thai BLs. But again, I have no idea.
Tumblr media
the Rama VIII bridge (aka The Gayest Bridge in Bangkok) as seen in Cutie Pie because that was the screenshot I had at hand
Anyone else out there know the answer to this?
edit: Anon, as @sliceduplife/@colourme-feral says, feel free to send them or me a screenshot of the bridge; I can publish it for further investigation. (I'm pretty sure my asks are set up to accept images; let me know if it doesn't work.)

FUN FACT ABOUT THE SOTUS BRIDGE
As a Peraya and eternal SOTUS devotee, I had to visit the Rama VIII Bridge (hereafter The SOTUS Bridge) on my first trip to Thailand.
And while I was there, I was walking around and reflecting on all the famous scenes.
It's where they had their first kiss in SOTUS,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's where Arthit gave Kongphob their soldered gears in SOTUS S,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and it's where Arthit had a poorly timed anxiety spiral in Our Skyy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was prepared to have all those feelings! Because we can see the bridge in all those shots! I figured any scene with the bridge would be really obvious.
BUT GUESS WHEN ELSE THEY'RE AT THE BRIDGE???
HERE.
THIS FUCKING SCENE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you know how I know this?
WELL LOOK.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND SURE ENOUGH, WHEN I WATCHED THAT SCENE AGAIN:
Tumblr media
THERE'S THE FUCKING BRIDGE OVER ARTHIT'S SHOULDER.
DOES THAT NOT COMPLETELY DESTROY YOU INSIDE???
THAT SCENE IS ALREADY HEARTBREAKING BUT NOW THINK ABOUT IT WITH THIS CONTEXT:
READY????
YOU'RE FUCKING NOT I BET!!!!!
THIS IS KONGPHOB'S VIEW AS HE'S WALKING BEHIND ARTHIT:
Tumblr media
HE'S STARING AT THE BRIDGE WHERE THEY HAD THEIR FIRST KISS WHILE HE'S TRYING TO KEEP HIS DISTANCE FROM ARTHIT
YOU'RE PROBABLY HAVING THIS REALIZATION SOMEWHERE YOU CAN SIT DOWN AND TAKE IT ALL IN
I WAS ALONE!!!! IN THAT SPOT!!!! SURROUNDED BY JOGGERS!!!!!
I'M GIVING YOU THIS GIFT SO IF YOU EVER GO TO THE SOTUS BRIDGE, YOU DON'T START CRYING IN PUBLIC BECAUSE YOUR FICTIONAL CHILDREN HAD A SAD FEW MINUTES ON THE JOGGING PATH WHILE AUNTIES NEARBY HAVE THEIR EVENING OUTDOOR AEROBICS CLASS ACCOMPANIED BY A TRAINER SHOUTING INTO A MEGAPHONE.
Tumblr media
When I visited the second time with a friend, we watched their first kiss with the bridge in the background. It was transcendental; I highly recommend it.
Tumblr media
I have sworn to myself to make a pilgrimage to The SOTUS Bridge every time I visit Thailand so that I may scream and cry and pay tribute to the series that paved the way for what we have now, amen.

A Balancing Act
Yin and Yang. The symbol of balance of the nature like a dragon, a tiger, a phoenix, and a turtle from different directions. – Episode 7
Previous Posts' Recap: Ep. 1 [Yin & Yang], Ep. 2 [The Color of Anxiety], Ep. 3 [Do you get déjà vu?], Ep. 4 [The Cages We Live In], Ep. 5 [You Changed Me], Ep 6 [The Warmth of the Sun], Bonus: Where the Sun and Moon Meet
Tumblr media
Parallels and Callbacks
When speaking to Yai, Mangkorn tells Yai that if he upset, then Mangkorn is upset too which callbacks to their phone discussion in episode four.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the end of episode four, they fought while the storm raged around them, but this time, they leave before the storm comes because they are clearly communicating.
Tumblr media
In episode six, a mirror was used when Yai spoke harshly to Mangkorn which reflected their true feelings. Here, neither are hiding their feelings and looking at each other. Also, the rainbow-colored paintings on the wall are a nice touch.
Tumblr media
Yai and Mangkorn visit the dragon temple that was shown in the first episode and stand in the same positions. They chase each other similar to how the tiger and dragon chased each other in the first episode, and the tiger appears several times to balance out the dragons surrounding them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As many have pointed out, Yai has the camera and Mangkorn has the memory card used in their first sexual encounter, but this time, they are focused on the present instead of dwelling on the past.
Tumblr media
During the hospital scene in episode two and Yai’s kissing scene with Nine in episode five, their shoes are shown. Yai discussed with Nine about comfortable shoes representing love, and throughout the episode, it is shown that they both are wearing their comfortable shoes.
Tumblr media
Yai and Mangkorn go to the same restaurant that Yai went with Park and Phong when he missed Mangkorn in episode three. Yai is wearing Mangkorn’s colors, and Mangkorn is wearing Yai’s. Dumplings symbolize love, family, and wealth so Nine and Mangkorn are fighting over Yai’s love.
Tumblr media
The scenes in the bed and bath call back to their first sexual encounter in the first episode and Yai’s self service scene with the after shot of Mangkorn sucking his drink.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mangkorn wakes up in the bed similar to Yin waking up alone in episode five.
Tumblr media
Mangkorn tends to tell Yai commands or instructions twice before Yai complies. Mangkorn doesn’t like being teased about his apology note, so he asks Yai if he is being naughty before Yai stops.
Tumblr media
Dragon & Tiger (Symbols)
In the temple, they write “Dragon” and “Tiger” down for the blessing.
Tumblr media
Nine and Mangkorn meet in the hallway that is Yai and Mangkorn colored. Nine tells Mangkorn that he has known Yai longer, but Mangkorn and Yai met as children. Nine mentions the past several times, even telling Yai that in the past, he could take him home. Nine is focused on the past each time he interacts with Yai.
Tumblr media
The plushies in the crane machine are dragons, and Yai goes out to buy a tiger one.
Tumblr media
The bracelets feature the yin and yang symbols but they are wearing each other’s symbol. Yai wears Yang, and Mangkorn wears Yin. This is also similar to the bracelet exchange Hong and Nadear had in episode five.
Tumblr media
A dove is a symbol of peace and long lasting love, and Yai’s shirt is tiger print.
Tumblr media
At the theme park, they encounter tigers and dragons as well.
Tumblr media
In the dark, Mangkorn and Yai are most vulnerable throughout the series, and here in the dark, Mangkorn apologizes to Yai. Right after Mangkorn asks Yai if he will be his partner, the light comes back on. Mangkorn has kissed Yai in the light, so now this is where they find balance in between the dark and the light, in between vulnerability and love.
Tumblr media
Yai and Mangkorn wear each other’s color throughout the episode.
Tumblr media
Even the mouthwash is colored coded.
Tumblr media
The gayest bridges in the world, Rama VIII!
Tumblr media
Park & Phong
Hong and Nadear have blue and pink backgrounds while they play the part of Park and Phong at the restaurant merely observing the spectacle.
Tumblr media
When Yai and Mangkorn are enjoying their big day out, they dress in pink and blue.
Tumblr media
Balance
We finally get the shot that probably convinced everyone to watch this show. Mangkorn nor Yai wears his creature necklace, but they are wearing their bracelets. They are no longer selfish, but thinking of the other. They are no longer Yai and Mangkorn, but Big Dragon. They are part of each other.
Tumblr media
Mangkorn gets accepted into the program, but had already stated he would possibly turn it down.
Tumblr media
Yet when Yai unveils the renovated bar in the next episode, he is back in his color with his necklace and isn’t wearing the bracelet.

The Deutsche Bank Pool Apartment or The Stairs of Death House?
The Rama VIII Bridge or The Romantic Stairs (from SCOY, BB, TOL)?
Stairs of Death House, 100%. Those are the greatest thing ever and someday someone is gonna die on them and I am gonna scream. I love those stairs so much.
Hmmmm. Harder! But I lean towards the Rama VIII Bridge for nostalgia, honestly. I also like the bridge for more dramatic shots and it does add such a nice background that's at least a little different.
Good choices!

Star in my mind has a lot of familiar sets. Like kluen s house is fietleo s house in DNS.the mall and place dao and kluen had lunch are same ones TinCan did then.
Did you notice any other similarities/sets? A post about it would be nice.sorry if you did it before
Thai BL Location Reuse
There is that one house with the floating stairs that's in like EVERYTHING. I remember it bring prominently discussed when Don't Say No was airing. And currently it’s part of Lian’s place in Cutie Pie. (I don’t think that’s all the same location.)
I did think about tracking that one house, but I'm too darn lazy. I think it must belong to one of the directors or producers. Or it’s like just this airbnb kinda thing all the studios use.
GMMTV reuses a lot of its locations, especially the campuses.
And for sure the run down pool warehouse Dan Yok go to in Not Me is the same location used in So Much In Love.
Tumblr media
This beach with this swing and leaf shot has shown up quite a few times, The Yearbook but also recently in Meow Ears Up.
Tumblr media
Ae’s dorm (interior lay out, not room itself) in Love By Chance is the same one in My Gear and Your Gown and a few other shows. I always notice that because that shot (above) is one of my favorites.
Finally there is OF COURSE the Rama VIII Bridge crossing the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok AKA the gayest bridge in Thailand. That one, I have chronicled, (see the end of the post).

The bridge fic, or: I put Pat on the iconic Rama VIII bridge (the fourth image is Pat’s vantage point, SOTUS bridge breakup my beloved) and make him maudlin af.

Pat drains the last of his beer and clinks the glass down, pushing it forward with the tips of his fingers. The lingering foam clings to the sides, some of it slipping down to pool at the bottom, stark white and easy to see even in the dark of the bar.
The bubbles pop slowly, leaving behind divots in their wake, and he watches them before finally hauling himself up to stand. Korn is at the other end of the counter, and Pat edges his way past eager college students waiting to get pitchers for their tables.
“Hey,” Pat says, once he thinks he’s in earshot, but Korn doesn’t look up from the glasses he’s pulling, hands expert and automatic in holding the lever down for just enough time without even looking at how much has been poured. Pat steels himself and closes the space between himself and the bartop, pulling up the corners of his mouth a bit more to stand up to the scrutiny of proximity.
“Hey,” he tries again, and this time Korn does look up, smiling automatically.
When he sees that it’s Pat, he holds up a finger quickly, and then sets the last of the glasses on the tray in front of him, snapping his fingers to catch the attention of the kid who ordered them.
Once he’s successfully gotten the kid to take the tray, Korn turns back to him, and his customer-service smile softens into something that is both warmer and sharper. “What’s up, you want another?”
“Actually,” Pat starts, and speaking feels like his tongue is moving through molasses. Korn’s eyebrows are furrowing minutely even before he finishes his sentence. “I was going to head out.”

Bangkok Trip 2022
There are some people asking for my itinerary so I will be listing the places we have been to. It is a bit of a splurge trip since I want to experience everything. And this is a week long vacation.
Requirements: As of July 2022, Thailand ease their restrictions and only needed the vaccination certificate as a requirement. Of course like normal you need to pay your travel tax first before checking in to avoid delays. For first time travelers there will be a lot of questions on immigration and some of them are being off-loaded, but this is not to scare you. Just be prepared with your answers and proof that you will be coming back to the Philippines.
Transpo: We tried to commute as much as possible but those that require lot of effort we just opted to hail grab car/justgrab(taxis).
Hotel: We stayed at 2 hotels because we extended for 2 more days than we intended to. First hotel is Narawad Botique Hotel (near GMMTV Building) from July 17 to 22 then at FX Metrolink Hotel Makkasan (near Phetchaburi MRT Exit 3) from July 22 to 24.
Itinerary:
Day 1 - July 17 (Sunday)
(a) GMMTV Building - took grab from airport to the hotel, we just left our bags then we walked for 2 mins to the building unfortunately the shop at 30th flr is only open every Mon-Fri so we just took pictures outside.
(b) Terminal 21 Asok - it is a 10 min walk from GMM building to here, you can refer to maps for directions but this is just near the BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit station.
(c) Siam Paragon - you can take BTS from Asok to Siam station (to Khu Kot). Once there you can take Exit 1 and you will see Siam Paragon, you will never miss it. Just across it is Siam Square One, Siam Center and Siam Discovery.
(d) AWC Studios - this is the clothing shop owned by Arm Weerayut, but it also displays items from Land of Something (Off), No Grass Type (Tay) and Too Cute To Be Cool (Gun, Alice). They do not accept credit card only cash. We took grab from our hotel to here cost around 120baht.
(e) WAB Cafe and Friends - connected to Wabi Sabi Studios you can chill here, also used in some series like Star In My Mind. We took grab also from AWC to here.
(f) Platinum Mall/Palladium - from WAB Cafe, we walked out to find bus stop going here there is a number 23 bus but since we were waiting for almost an hour we opted to ride grab again (we don't like wasting time).
(g) Khaosan Road - from Palladium take the footbridge going to the other side, walk towards Platinum Mall and the first bus stop you will see take bus number 60 alight Democracy Monument (Opposite Sueksa Phan). Walk again there will be a big crossing and on the right you will see Bangkok Library just walk towards it and you will see the bustling street. Take note, they only start at 6pm onwards.
Day 2
(a) Chaloemla Park - this is a small graffitti park, ride BTS train to Ratchathewi station exit 2 then just walk straight and you'll see the park on the left side.
(b) Chulalongkorn University - from the park just go back to the bus stop Ratchathewi station exit 2. Take bus number 34, 36, or 93 at it will take you directly to Chula. The main building is on the left side.
(c) Chi Salon - this is where most actors get their hair done. If you want Khun Chi (owner) to do your hair it costs 1,000baht plus another cost for the cut depends on the length of your hair. From CU, take the footbridge and walk towards the bus stop near it ride bus number 25 or 40 and get down on BTS Chitlom then you can walk towards red building Mercury Ville and the salon is located on 4th flr.
(d) Vertigo Banyan Sky Tree - we just took grab to go here. Restaurant opens at 5pm to 10pm. We ordered the 3-course set costs 2,500baht they do not have service water so you need to buy separate drink. Menu is available on their website.
(e) Rama VIII Bridge - we also took grab just pin it to "Arobic & Yoga Class Under Rama VIII Bridge" to have the best picture also come at night to see best view.
Day 3
(a) Hua Lumpong Railway Station - take MRT and get off Hua Lamphong station Exit 2. You will see the railway station right away.
(b) ICONSIAM - from the railways station, find your way to the Yaek Hua Lamphong bus stop and take 75. Get down at Opposite Robinson Bangrak. You need to get to Saphan Taksin Pier to you can take the FREE boat ride to the mall.
(c) Wat Arun - from ICONSIAM, take another boat for 30baht to Wat Arun. There are a lot of people who will help you so need to worry. Entrance fee is 100baht with free water.
(d) Mall Tour (Unicafe Siam Square, MBK Center, CentralWorld, and EmQuartier) - we just retraced our steps. Took boat from Wat Arun straight to Saphan Taksin Pier, take BTS to Siam then just follow signs. All these malls are connected to BTS so you will not be lost for sure.
Day 4
I will no longer enumerate this because this was my free day celebrating Tay Tawan's birthday so I did not have a lot of places I visited.
Day 5
(a) Huachiew Chalermprakiet University - there was a bus route but it will take 2hrs to get there so we just opted to get grab and pay 300+baht one way but it will only be a 30mins ride.
(b) Asiatique - we again rode grab from the school to BTS Bang Na. Then we took train to Siam Station and rode bus number 15 and it will be directly stopping Opposite Asiatique.
(c) Central Ladprao - from Asiatique we rode again bus number 15 back to Siam Center then take BTS to Hat Yaek Lat Phrao station and it is already there. We came here because of Kazz Awards.
Day 6
Check out to our 1st hotel and moved to the 2nd one.
(a) Big C Supercenter - grocery shopping just get of BTS Chidlom station and just look for the signs going to Platinum/Pratunam and walk. We took TukTuk going back to the hotel (for the experience).
This was the day we met NonKul so it is not so productive also.
Day 7
(a) Chatukchak Weekend Market - you can take MRT (Chaktukchak Park) or BTS (Mo Chit) then you can see already sign leading to the market. It is only open every Sat and Sun at 9am-6pm.
(b) Union Mall - take trains to BTS (Hat Yaek Lat Phrao) or MRT (Phahon Yothin-Exit 4). Signs are everywhere. We go here because of Shooting Star Concert.
(c) Bamboo Secret Spa - for us we took grab bike but you can also ride BTS train to Phrom Phong station and walk on Soi 46. Modern Thai Massage costs 500baht for 60 mins.
Day 8 was when we checked out. Just to take note we always take our breakfast at 711 in GMM Building from Day 1 to Day 5. Google Maps are your friend it give accurate places and commute. Also some things in Thailand are not translated in english so my friend and I use Google Lens and Papago at times.
That’s it. Enjoy and have a safe travels.

Ok, but is this the same exact boat as in KinnPorsche? Is there only one location manager for all of Thai BL? Or do they just share tips and resources with each other.
I don't know why I've recently gotten obsessed with tracking shared sets, but apparently I have.

“THE RAMA VIII BRIDGE AND CRUISE”
© www.SRBFotog.com | 2024
Series: Travel > Places
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
During the trip to amazing Thailand, there is the Chao Phraya River. I bought a ticket for a mini-luxury cruise named Chao Phraya Princess. After the dinner party on the cruise, I took my camera to take some outside photos.
Suddenly I saw the Rama VIII Bridge, which is a cable-stayed bridge. It was built to alleviate traffic congestion on the nearby Phra Pinklao Bridge. The bridge was named in tribute to King Bhumibol's brother, the late King Ananda Mahidol, who was also known as Rama VIII as he was the eighth king of the Chakri Dynasty.
That was an awesome scene. I tried to compose a photo of the bridge along with the cruise and river. I hope you like it.

There are 5 cable-stayed bridges that cross the Chao Phraya River: Rama VIII, Rama IX, Bhumibol 1 and 2, Kanchanaphisek Bridge.
Of the 5, only Rama VIII and Bhumibol 1 and 2 bridges have been featured in shows and are frequently confused.
*Bhumibol 1 and 2 are connected to each other and will be referred to in conjunction with the other.
Full credit to @virtualtadpole who told me that the way to identify the bridges is by looking at the shape of their pylons:
Rama VIII's is an upside down Y, Rama IX has straight columns, Bhumibol's are diamond shaped, and Kanchanaphisek's are As
