I am glad to assist - hilariously enough I got taken out by a dodge ball almost exactly like that before. But the ball was twice the diameter and knocked me full off my feet when it hit. It was so BIG though and squishy that it just treadmarked my face for a few minutes and didn’t do any real damage.

I was never really good at sports stuff ^_^;

So I'm going to tell you about another pirate group of mine.

The Scorpion Pirates are a group of minks and fish-men that are all toxic in some way.

They are led by

-"Scorpion" Kukang, a Sunda Slow Loris mink -Diaemus, aka "Diaemus the Vampire", a White Winged Vampire Bat mink, is the first mate and the rest of the crew: The "Sea Snake Sibs", Tigwalo and Sigwalo (Tig and Sig)--a Laticauda colubrina, yellow-lipped sea krait fish-man and Hydrophis platurus, yellow-bellied sea snake fish-man respectively a Northern Short-Tailed Shrew mink named Brevi a Platypus mink named Tambreet a Box Jellyfish fish-man named Fleck a Glaucus atlanticus (Blue Sea Dragon) fish-man who is currently unnamed and their only human member, a Gila Monster zoan named Naddur

Kukang uses his tail to hold a short sword up over his head like a scorpion's tail. A gag is that he's ruthless and calculating, but his personality doesn't match his natural mink face, which is adorable--so he wears a mask. Otherwise he's not very intimidating...

the Scorpion Pirates are side characters in the Storm Pirates' story, so they're not really fleshed out much.

Naddur has Dwarfism and was bullied for it by his peers and lacked a supportive community, but the minks and fish-men treated him as equal, so he stuck with them. For that reason, he's the only human they tolerate. Otherwise they're pretty hostile toward humans.

The Scorpion Pirates are all older for pirates, in their 50s-60s. One of the Storm Pirates, Tero's grandmother Ptero (who she was named after, both lionfish fish-women) was a former member of the Scorpion Pirates before settling down. Tero has the Scorpion Pirates' insignia tattooed on her, something passed down from her grandmother as protection for their family. So when the Storm Pirates inevitably cross the Scorpions, she reveals that tattoo and gains their trust.

Key lime! How would you describe your self-ship’s aesthetic? with Marco and Kid

Hmmm….

With Marco it’s very cottage-core honestly. Simple home, tea in lined containers and dried herbs hanging all around. Coffee and probably some homemade pickles and cheese. I feel like I’d be able to indulge in all the food prep I don’t have time for right now while Marco offers his services in whatever small town we ended up in.

With Kid, it’s definitely a lot more high octane. Bon fire parties and loud music, scrap yard vibes and brick houses. Moonshine and mechanic shops, not in the good old boys vibes so much of Hells Angels biker vibe.

I’d be just as comfortable in either situation, honestly. And I bet I’d still have my teas and home pickles with Kid just as much with Marco.

Except I bet Kid or Killer makes a jar of tongue-melter pickled carrots from time to time. (I start making other people taste test one before I eat them because Kid doesn’t label his damn firebombs.) 😤

Rose petal! What traditions do you and your F/O share?

Hmmm… traditions are a hard thing to nail down sometimes because you don’t realize what they are. So we’ll go with some big ones and any small ones that come to mind while I’m working on this.

I imagine 100% that the biggest tradition with Kid and his crew is Christmas - or whatever title/label/alternative you want to use for what’s effectively a massive winter feast.

I think the whole crew gets into it - and it’s loud and full of laughter and cheer and a few fights and a lot of beer and certainly an exchange of “gifts”, be they sincere or severe xD it’s always been a positive holiday for me, so it’s certainly a tradition close to my heart.

With Marco I think a spring festival is more the shared tradition, or a harvest festival - something that rings in the days of plenty or something that pays homage to preparing for the days of lean.

It’s the transitional vibe of it more than anything. Maybe cause he transforms, and what he transforms into is itself an allegory of transition.

But these festivals are usually centered around food and family and less around gifts and giving. Not that I think he’s against gifts in either manner, but the more familial vibe also draws him in. (Also pineapple hams are a big part of both feasts for me growing up xD so there’s that too!)

Sabo I think is good for anything that lets him celebrate with Ace and Luffy xD birthday parties, new years, etc. he’s not big on tradition for the sake of it, but he’ll utilize the foundations of it to build up what brings him and his closest joy.

Alas, for better or worse that’s all I have for this right now , Harley has commandeered my lap

Oh gods, this particular version of AI "art".

And like "AI" and "art", cause there's no real AI in it from a tech standpoint it's more like Artificial Art - there's no intelligence or humanity in it at all.

and like, what it is - the "learning" it does and how you can use it, have FANTASTIC applications outside of art. It's been put to great use in detecting cancer cells, and it's wonderful for quality work and the remediation and value check work to lessen unforgiving errors in health care and stuff.

Like, there is VALUE in it, just not as a way to create stories and art.

Quin! How are you doing today?

So far much better than yesterday. Yesterday was just miserable - my ear was ringing for HOURS, and I developed a bitchin’ headache to go with it - I was cranky and grumbly all day.

Then the ringing and the head ache cleared up, and my friends and I randomly reminisced about a friend gone too soon , who had passed in 2021. So then I was just… ah, sad’s not really the right word, but the evening was very draining.

I slept well last night though, and got a chunk of writing done this morning \o/ work’s a bit busy, but nothing I can’t handle. ^_^

Hmmmm…

Marco could use some therapy given all he’s been through, but I don’t think he needs it. Age and experience have been harsh teachers, but both have provided him solid tools for coping and proper self-awareness. At least in my general opinion.

Crocodile would be insulted, needed or not, we’ll just move on.

Eustass Kid is… surprisingly self aware I think. His coping skills suck, but I think he’s aware of himself enough to understand that. He doesn’t know how to act or what to do so he shuts himself up in his workshop or throws himself into violence because he doesn’t want to hurt the people he really cares about.

He’d be the best candidate for it, honestly. Still young enough to be open minded for it, aware enough to utilize the results. I could see him teaching the rest of his crew/gang the things he learns and having them help keep him on track.

A lot of the One Piece world could benefit from therapy (hell a lot of real world people could, why’s it gotta be so expensive >.< ), but if I’m just picking from my blorbos I gotta go with Kid.

I almost said Sabo, he’s been through hell too, and I don’t think that bright smile has banished his demons >.> but I think him and Koala growing up with Dragon let them learn from each other.

Doflamingo could use therapy too, but I’m fairly certain he’d kill the therapist and then me for suggesting it. ^_^ so uh, good luck to him.

Absolutely. He does it more when he knows Marco’s interested in someone, or someone’s interested in him. Whether they’re in a relationship, polycule, whatever - but ESPECIALLY if they’re just brother brothers.

Thatch is a hopeless romantic in my opinion, very old fashioned, a little low key compared to some other chefs, but he just loves romance.

And Marco is so difficult to fluster that Thatch is ready and willing to go all in to see it happen.

And Thatch is good at keying in on Marco’s emotions, more than most people on the crew. I mean, he’s just good at picking up where people are at in general, but Marco is his bestie (and he’s so fun to tease cause when he does break it’s adorable AF.)

Marco can’t even bring himself to say the word “fineapple”. Even after a couple decades of Thatch using it he can just barely keep a straight face hearing it.

Where do you feel most at home?

Quiet places. Dark quiet places. I mean, I feel home at home, but even at home I have places I go when I need to just be more at home.

In a larger sense of it, somewhere that gets cold. Hot and humid places don’t feel right for me. I lived in the desert for ten years and there was just no adjusting to it. I’m glad to be back where it snows.

I just wish it snowed more.

What do you do to feel at peace?

Write. Draw. Chill with some tarot decks. Lay on the floor with my cats. Try to put a little light in someone’s day, one way or another.

Sometimes I gotta tend to my own peace directly, but sometimes tending to that peace is making sure my friends are good.
