Mintshade

Mintshade is the StarClan Guide of SplashClan. She was once a solitary rogue named Mint who later in her life adopted an orphaned kit named Gannet who she trained and cared for as if they were her own. Together the two joined SplashClan, aiming to gain power over the clan and Mintshade helped Gannettalon take the position of deputy. Sadly, Mintshade was killed in the battle against the BloodClan-affiliated rogues and became the first SplashClan cat to join StarClan. She became the main StarClan Guide of SplashClan and later went onto give Gannetstar one of her nine lives.

Detailed Biography

Mintshade is the main StarClan guide of SplashClan. Earlier in her life she was a solitary rogue until she found and adopted an orphaned kit she had found. She named the kit Gannet and trained her. Soon enough Gannet was fully grown and the two spent a good portion of their lives as companions. Though Gannet never viewed her as such, Mint saw Gannet as her own kit. Throughout their lives, Mint trained Gannet, teaching and raising her under the philosophy that "no other cats matter, protect yourself and only yourself."

Later, the two joined SplashClan and took the names Mintshade and Gannettalon. The two of them wanted power over the group of cats and thought SplashClan was the best option as they were lacking in a confident cat to step up as leader. Initially, Mintshade was the one who wanted to be leader but as she realized how old she really was she decided to allow her adoptive kit to take that role instead. She advised Gannettalon through everything and soon enough she was elected as SplashClan's future leader.

When the reformed clans went to drive out the BloodClan-affiliated rogues who had been occupying the old clan's lake territories, Mintshade was killed. As the first SplashClan cat to die, she was chosen to be the StarClan guide and she was able to give Gannetstar one of her nine lives. In death, she realized the error of her ways and came to the conclusion that she had always loved Gannetstar. Her philosophy was wrong and it had not only resulted in her permanantly harming her daughter, but all the clans as Gannetstar's terrible leadership continued.

I feel like i have to say it here regardless, Aurian's are my project that I made with my friend. If someone was involved with the project previously, and I don't want them affilated with it anymore, i have every right to use titles and designs I made in the first place.

The character in question never ever had a solid, polished design that was finished. Only bits and pieces and a concept sketch for something I was going to do as a gift, for free, which i made clear I didnt want to be referenced in any future designs of that character because I didnt want to be apart of it anymore after how I was treated.

I have not given this person permission to use any of my art/free designs at all as reference when purchasing another comm. I made that explicitly clear. I dont want to be affiliated with this person at all, and all ive asked is that they sell the designs they bought from me because im no longer comfortable with them owning anything of mine anymore, which they agreed to do.

Recent post of mine caught the attention of a knee-jerk sjw. I posted this photo

This is what she said to me: “No she isn’t. War bonnets are not costume pieces and they’re not traditionally women’s attire. Stop doing this shit and stop posting it to the Native tag.”

My immediate response was, “I will post whatever I like. I know war headdress are not “costume pieces,” far from it. I also know its NOT women’s attire whatsoever, traditionally. I am native american myself, Saponi... and a Tribal Council member. So why don’t you mind your own business, stick to what you know in your own clan, and stop saying obvious things and trying to censor people. Also note, I said cosplay in the tag... If you wanted to start a conversation, you blew it. I would never tell you what to post on your blog. Just because you are a social justice warrior AND a native american doesn’t mean you get to tell other Native Americans what to post on their blog. Especially when you are not even in the same tribe. Please. Get over yourself... Go away bully.”

I then added I would redouble my efforts to make these kinds of posts in the future, just because she tried to tell me what to do.

Then another misguided sjw type said this: “ you’re just spreading stereotypes like??? stop”

Their argument is too reliant on self-assured assumptions. It’s shallow sjw talking-points at best, and at worst blundering attempts at inept and misguided censorship. My recommendation to them is to think more critically and lighten up. It’s a native american girl in cosplay. Even if you don’t believe she is actually native american, (after all, how can you know for sure? Are you going to force everyone to show their tribal affil cards or something?) its not an affront to native heritage.

Newsflash, cosplayers celebrate the things they love by dressing up. How dare you try to diminish their own creative expression and self identity/art. Don’t be an authoritative fool. I’m flattered that such a pretty woman would even take the time to emulate native dress. That means she likes it! It is a nice cosplay picture for crying out loud. Stop being so uptight.

The implication is that this girl in the photo is in no way a native american because if she were, she would clearly know that women aren’t allowed to wear men’s war headresses. GOD FORBID A WOMEN WOULD WEAR A MEN’S CLOTHES. Someone call the police lol. I mean really? I am native american myself, and I see no issue with this picture whatsoever. So what if we know more about native american culture then her, because we are part native american and tribal affiliated. That doesn’t mean she isn’t. She could know more about the culture then you or I, and just be really into war headdresses/tribal chief decorum. I say why not? I am happy to see native culture truly celebrated by anyone! It’s not like I get to see tribal clothing and dress every day. It’s nice to see sometimes, regardless of who is wearing it.

The motivation behind cosplay comes from a place of love, rather then malice or racial prejudice. If you don’t understand that, I can’t help you. The very act of cosplay and costume is a psychological appropriation of some idea or concept that benefits the wearer in a positive way. There is nothing wrong with this. This photo was done tastefully, and is a beautiful picture with nature as context. She is not on a runway. She is not making fun of Native Americans or Indigenous dress. Even if she were, I’m to the point were I would likely defend it because this sjw ‘cultural appropriation’ nonsense has gone overboard and I, frankly, refuse to follow you. I don’t own native culture, and neither do you.

I am a Filipino born and raised in the outskirts of Mindanao. I grew up in a place where daily bloodshed is almost normal, where wars are a game of chess, and bullets are seen anywhere like stones.

In a small town in the province of Sultan Kudarat, I’ve experienced my first armed conflict. Late at night, firefight between government troops and rebel groups would start. They would cut the electric supply in our area, engaging in the battlefield of darkness.

The first gunshot would signal us to start crawling to a prepared fox hole underneath our house – an opening just enough to fit 5-6 persons. There, my mother would comfort us that everything would be okay, but I knew it would never be okay.

Under that dark shelter, we would let the evening pass with the sound of explosions and gunshots as lullabies. The next morning, everything would be back to normal – with some bullets and shrapnel scattered in the streets. Bloodstains would remain for a week or two, until the rain would wash away the mark of the unending battle.

As a little boy back then, I was filled with questions no one could ever answer. Until today, I realized I was asking the wrong question – why, not how, should we stop these conflicts?

With Christmas period fast approaching I decided to put together a gift guide and maybe give you some suggestion on what is worth spending on that little extra in my eyes.

I checked out quite a few gift guides in the past and they all seemed very similar to one another. They all have specific price brackets that show different gifts in each of the brackets. Being me, I decided to take an alternative approach and maybe show you a wider variety of options.

Candles in general would be my number one gift especially for less personal occassions. A nice candle is such a homely gift and can add a little bit of luxury. I like more price candles as they have quite unusual scents and last a very long time.

Fragrance

Fragrance is my second most favourite gift to give and probably number one if I am on the receiving end. There is so many good fragrances on the market that will suit most tastes and personal preferences.

I like niche and unusual scents, maybe on a more spicy yet floral side. My current number one would be without the shadow of the doubt Diptique L’Ombre dans l’Eau. It reminds me of my childhood yearsand the smell of blackcurrant leaves is to die for !
