Prompt 14 - Dance AU
@wolfstarmicrofic April 14, word count 385
“I do not want to go to a disco, Marlene. Sequins and white flares are not my thing.” Remus grumbled at his best friend as she dug around in his wardrobe for appropriate clothing.
“This will have to do,” She muttered, irritated as she pulled out a sky-blue shirt. It was also Remus’s best shirt. Most of his wardrobe was made up of soft geometric jumpers, also known as ‘Hey, my granddad has that same jumper’ jumpers. “Put it on, and these,” Marlene ordered as she tossed the shirt and a pair of black jeans at him. Reluctantly, he sloped off to the bathroom to change. When he came back out, Marlene appraised him and clucked her tongue as she undid his top button. “Come on, let’s get going before all the pretty girls are taken.”
“You know that’s only a problem for you, right?” Remus rolled his eyes at her but followed her out of his flat.
The second he stepped into the disco, he knew he’d made a mistake. Marlene, sensing his imminent flight, shoved him in the small of his back out onto the light-up dance floor. It was hot, sweaty and loud. Remus wanted to go home and curl up with a good book.
“Stay here,” Marlene shouted into his ear. “I’ll get us some drinks.” She left him alone. He closed his eyes and tried not to freak out at the unknown bodies that kept knocking into him. Why on earth had he agreed to this?
He opened his eyes again, and they fell on a mass of black curly hair swirling around the prettiest man he’d ever seen. Remus groaned when he saw what he was wearing. A brightly sequinned shirt, unbuttoned to just above his waist, showing off milky skin and a scattering of tattoos. He let his eyes trail lower. Of course, he was wearing skin-tight white flares.
The man caught him staring and shimmied his hips towards him. Remus looked at the crowd on either side of him because there was no way this gorgeous man was looking at him.
Warm hands wrapped themselves around his hips and started encouraging him to sway. His eyes snapped back to the front and straight into the steel-grey eyes of the man from the middle of the dance floor.
