hi! honestly, their parents still live in town so they dont get to interact much with their current spouse but they keep it polite whenever they do get a chance to speak to the affair partner, be it through facetime, or even just a simple call. at first they were very frosty towards them but they didnt want to cut ties with their only child so thats what they settled on. the parents actually didnt attend the wedding ceremony (it was a small gathering) but they did send a 'congrats' card signed mum & dad (so no special messages, no gifts, nothing)

it took quite some time for the ex's parents to warm up to the MC but thats with all their previous partners and when they finally did they were absolutely besotted with them. it just all seemed so perfect, they really felt like their child had found their true soulmate to grow old with, so imagine their shock when they found out about the divorce AND cheating!!!

the ex got quite a chewing out by both of their parents and also an earful of the "im disappointed in you".

their parents show their love through homemade meals, and whilst it isnt as frequent anymore, they do make sure to drop off a batch of muffins, homemade soup or whatever else they can cook up a few times a month to catch up and make sure the MC is doing alright. or theyll invite them over for sunday roast haha so yeah very much still very close to the MC

Elysium: Latches on to it immediately. Why yes he is your beloved spouse, now, they don't expect an immediate proposal after that but he will unflinchingly refer to himself as your husband in any conversation

Black Dahlia: brain stops working. exe as encountered an error. she won't say anything about it but she is now paying close attention to how you refer to her in conversations.

Overdose: teases you about it but their face is also red from blushing so who's really the clown here. they pretend they're calling you their spouse back ironically but they're too giddy about it for it to be ironic

Cold: does a double take for a second but rolls with it. gives you a knowing look afterwards. A conversation for later is to be had.

Sweetheart: His name might as well be husband now because that is all he wants you to call him now. restraining from proposing to you on the spot tbh.

Hey, I've been thinking about something and I'm wondering if it's too spoilery to ask or not.

It's a more general question so it wouldn't necessarily be about MC, but it's about people's reactions to stuff related to a situation like MC's in.

You explained before how it's not that uncommon for people to have other relationships in marriages like that one, but also that being in a relationship with the king's consort would still raise some eyebrows and some people would really see it as pretty awful in general and not a good thing for the involved individuals' reputation.

But you also said in some instances, depending on choices, we'd be able to not be the consort anymore - well, not to Luceris. And that got me thinking... what do people tend to think if something like that happens? Like the consort has a relationship with someone, but then suddenly they are NOT the consort anymore, and marry that other person they had a relationship with prior. Because well, they were obviously loyal to that person since the start and married THEM as soon as possible.

Does that make things better for some? Worse? Did that even happen before?

Don't worry if it's too spoilery though! Since it's hard to tell from a player's PoV, I thought there is no harm in asking, but I can't know if it's something that will be shown in game or not!

In most royal scenarios, it's common for royalty to have one official spouse and a couple of lovers. However, when it comes to THE Consort, they must obtain both the Emperor's permission and approval to engage in romantic relationships with others.

There is sort of a criteria for the lovers but what really matters in regards to MC is that the lover cannot be someone of importance.

For example, they can be the 3rd child of a Duke but not the 1st. Furthermore, they can't be a royal, unless their status is really low, such as being the eighth child of a ruler.

Essentially their status has to be so low or insignificant that becoming the lover of the Consort is the highest title they have. Their identity has to be just the lover of the consort and nothing else.

Now that that's out of the way, you can see how none of the ROs qualify to be an official Luceris-Approved lover to MC which is why their relationship, if it goes public, would be classified as an affair and cheating which leads to a scandal. That is why there are eyebrows raised and such, if it was approved then people wouldn't care that much.

The public wouldn't care if the Consort wasn't the Consort anymore and married someone else because they would be stripped of their title and privileges and would live as a regular citizen. The public would probably rejoice if this happens to MC lol.

Since the lover would be equally unimportant as the now ex-Consort, they can marry and do what their heart desires. For MC though, they can marry but never have children because their eyes would be passed down and we can't have peasant-but-royal-eyes kids running around town.

Honestly, it hasn't happened before (I'm talking about a Consort that willingly left the Crown and married their lover) because people don't want to downgrade in terms of lifestyle. It's a win win to them if they can just have lovers while also be someone important and live a lavish life.

I'll fix that right away!!! (On that note, what's the gender neutral form of niece/nephew? Nibling? Nephling?)

As for the ROs:

M really doesn't care. So long as they like you for you, they're not letting anyone get in the way of your relationship, least of all some homophobic old fogies who can barely manage their own failing marriages. In any case, among the lower class nobody really cares all that much - most are too busy trying to feed themselves and their families to gossip about who's courting who; your worth and status is based on what you contribute to the community, not who you choose to spend your life with.

Legacy is an immigrant from another kingdom where such relationships are much more accepted among the upper class and monarchy, so they just embrace it with open arms (assuming, of course, they can first get over all the other things keeping them from seeking happiness for themselves). In fact, they find it funny how enraged the few disapproving members of the Court get over what Legacy deems to be a trivial matter, so once they're romanced they take great delight in courting you in front of the homophobes just so they can watch them fume, unable to actually say anything (because that's the monarch and their lover, what are they gonna do about it?). E is 100% down for it. They are actively pursuing your heart (good luck trying to evade them lol), and they will not let anything stand in their way. After all, MC is the monarch, and they are an Advisor, with the backing of the House of Alinac. Realistically, only the other Advisors could lay a hand on them, and that could spark a rather nasty conflict in the Court, which they know all the Families are actively trying to avoid. Consequences be damned, they'll get what they want - they always do. E is untouchable, and they know it; what, then, is the point in fearing Court gossip? The lower nobility can say nothing to them, at least not without repercussion. O is already hesitant to pursue the monarch, even moreso if they are the same gender. O worries about the monarch's image - they know gossip in the Court is rarely forgiving, and for the monarch to court an Advisor (unheard of in the kingdom's history), well, that would certainly spark rumours of favouritism among the Families. While likely not enough to spark the other Families into direct action on its own, it would definitely make them more difficult to deal with - not ideal for the nation. They can only imagine what the rumours would be like if the monarch's lover were to be the same gender - and the Advisor from the House of Hildebrand, at least, strongly disapproves of such unions. O would prefer to spare MC (and Batrinoa as a whole) all the trouble and simply reject any romantic advances (even if they dream of taking MCs hands in theirs).

C, on the other hand, was raised in a rather homophobic household. It was really just their father Volker who drilled into the minds of his children that same-gender partners are wrong and unnatural and will be nothing more than a hindrance in war (soldiers are generally grouped into divisions by gender, and it is his belief that if a soldier was attracted to the same gender, it would make all members of their division a possible distraction on the battlefield). Though C (and none of their siblings really, except maybe their eldest brother, the family heir) took to these teachings, C is still hesitant about pursuing MC if they're the same gender - the internalized homophobia still hits hard even after all these years, and in any case they're not so sure MC would reciprocate (at least in the beginning). Give them some time to sort things out, the wait will be worth it.

Deep in T's revenge route will Mc never find love with anyone? Because getting together with someone else after breaking T's heart as if to say "You never meant anything to me at all" sounds sweet. And it's kinda sad that only the Mc's in this route never get love even tho I think its kida fair.

If we can't, in the deep revenge route is there any possibility that we can at least end up with someone else as a main lover and T as the side piece? (Not in a cheating way, more like T's never first option for Mc) Bc I wanna make T suffer with the same poison they wanted Mc to have, wich means that they can be with Mc but by being no more than a bedwarmer on the side never the main lover for Mc. Like a plan B of sorts.

So before getting deep into this ask let me just clarify something. As you can all see we have two different revenge routes. And each route will be different. For the hard core revenge route MC is unhinged. They're adamant on taking revenge on the "ones" who murdered the OH in cold blood. MC would stoop to the lowest of the lowest just to destroy these people lives. And their first act of revenge is having a secret illicit affair with the ex of the original host. For this route Trysten/Trista will be like a hedgehog. The feelings they locked away all those years ago will resurface and deepen even more. This route will cause alot of problems for the imperial family and the OH father's family as well. (Let violence Rain/Reign!!! 😈���)

The soft core option is the one where MC doesn't really give much thought to Trysten/Trista's existence. This route is a mixture of indifference and confusion. MC knows that they shouldn't fall for them yet they can't stop themself from seeking them out when they enter a room. While on the other hand MC wants to punch the daylight out of them. So for the soft core route there will be two options as well. Indifference/throttle to death or turn a blind eye to everything Trysten/Trista did to the OH. For this route Trysten/Trista pigish ways will be on full display. (Hope I didn't confuse you.)

Alright so on to the ask.

If the MC choose the hard core revenge route they'll be automatically locked out of the other ROs route. The ROs wouldn't be comfortable knowing that their spouse is using their body to enact revenge. The ROs wouldn't accept the MC having a "side piece" with them. MC is better than that, why would they stoop to trysten/Trista level? That's would be the first question they would ask. So that is a no but for the soft core there will be a bit of redemption for the MC's love life.

Most certainly. Even if the MC has no entanglement with the slangman/woman Trysten will still sway infront of them. They won't be able to accept that the MC feelings for them has died and that the MC wishes to live a good life without them.

Also getting intimate isn't the only way one can enact revenge from this slag. The royal family has alot of secrets. Grabbing the Montholon family's handle will be the best revenge.... but I would advise be careful.....

Remember Trysten/Trista is hated by the other ROs. Emphasis on the hate when it comes on to Nyssa/Nyala. 😏. The MC doesn't have to use their hands to get revenge they can always leave the hard work to Cadmus, Atticus and Nyssa/Nyala..... but hey that's food for thought. Right?

I know this has been discussed several times before but I wanted to voice my own opinion here if isn't too late. First of all i want to ask, if we choose K route will MC be like the "choice" that K has to make between MC and Gabby? because if so, I think it's unfair, because you once said it was uncomfortable putting the other ROs in a position where they're going to be "romanced" only to be dropped when we realize we actually do want to be with our ex.

I assume you don't want ROs to be in a position where they are one of the "choices" that the MC has to make. I think it's good, but it's a bit unfair if you put the MC in that position instead.

I honestly stumbled upon your summary about Absentia and i really liked the concept, but when i read about the MC ex-spouse who now have a new partner, it immediately pierced my heart. I know it's stupid because it's fiction but it's been a month or so since then and every time i think or get reminded about Absentia it still hurts. I thought maybe what happened on K route was one of my traumas or fears, so i'm sorry if i sound too demanding or salty, i really didn't mean it that way because i just wanted to express my opinion so that my heart might be a little relieved.

It’s not really a choice no… if the MC is on K’s route then K and the MC will end up together. If the MC isn’t on K’s route then K will end up with Gabby.

Gabby will always be in K’s life no matter what, however. As Gabby is K’s best friend and that won’t ever change no matter what.

You get locked into K’s route fairly early on, which I believe I have mentioned previously, as it’s really an all or nothing sort of deal.

Under the cut for rambling reasons

Ok so, there's two big differences for me. The main difference number one - the stakes.

Arcadia has been a concept I have been obsessed with for over a year, it's been the thing on my mind that whole time, I know what I want to do for at least 4 books and it takes up the whole of my heart and brain on any given day of the week.

This new one - I came up with on the bus ride to work. Lol.

Difference number two - the demo

The demo for Arcadia (beautiful bane of my life that it is) is very very important for setting up things that will be relevant for a slew of reasons, every single decision makes a difference to the base of the MC's character and incidents and flavour text that will be throughout the whole rest of the book, and I plan to release it as perfect as I can make it so that I don't have to break anyone's saves when I update the chapter after it because I'm afraid y'all wouldn't read it twice lol.

The demo for the new IF would literally be an exercise for me to keep writing little inconsequential bits and pieces and still practice coding with very low stakes involved, and could literally update it in chunks rather than setting lofty goals for myself because I have no self-imposed impossible standards to meet on this one lol.

Now about the other IF!

MC would be a film star at the top of their game, 24, happily married to a renowned musician, successful, media darling, etc etc. But behind the scenes is another matter, within the first year of your marriage you walked in on your spouse naked in bed with their ex, who then went on to sell their story to the tabloids and ever since then your life has been in a constant state of damage control while everyone in your camp tries to work out how you're both going to get through this without destroying both of your careers.

This whole idea came to fruition because the guy I'm working for has celebrity news streaming on the telly in the kitchen all day and y'all, the things I have learnt lol, but there's also a lot of stuff that'd be fun to play with. You're an actor so I'd get to write little scenes that are basically prompts because you're acting and I'd get to deal with some spicier scenes earlier in the game if you chose to play it that way cos celebrities are messy as fuck apparently lol.

Right now I'm thinking there'd be 4 or 5 ROs, the spouse, your childhood friend turned pa, your repeated love interest co-star that people have been publicly shipping you with (think Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, emma stone and gosling, lady gaga and that other guy etc), the behind the scenes person who just works there man, and your new bodyguard hired by the studio because of security concerns.

But again, most of this is stream of consciousness stuff that might not come to anything. I just really don't want my progress with coding to backslide, you know? It's been really hard to get my head around and I finally feel like I'm getting a grasp for it and I don't wanna lose that, but I also don't want to taint my main story with subpar effort just because I'm tired lol you know? Of all the reasons I could screw this up, that one would suck so hard lol

Big bruh moment or what is wrong with the indigenous people's movements in Russia.

Oh I have been longing to write this one for a long time and yesterday there happened something that finally pushed me to do it. I also hope VERY MUCH to see any suggestion, support or at least understanding from other indigenous people because I literally have no one to talk to about it.

Due to the historic reasons and specifics of colonial processes in Russia and the countries of Ex-USSR most of the non-european indigenous people and ethnic minorities who actively practice and preserve their culture, stand against colonialism and imperialism are radically traditional.

Now let me elaborate. There is nothing wrong with being traditional as a way of lifestyle and worldview. However it becomes a problem when people try to insert one as a supreme or even only allowed way of living, behaving and thinking. These people are radically patriarchical, radically religious meaning that they hardly ever accept any other religion other than theor own and strictly or often even aggressively condemn any behavior that goes against patriarchy. This is they way of life that they want for all their nation, this is what they see as decolonizing.

This means that no ideas about toxic masculinity, sexism, victimblaming, homophobia, transphobia being wrong are not accepted in any form. You have to marry someone from your nation, otherwise you're a traitor, better if your parents choose your spouse, if you're a man, you should fit in a toxic masculine image, of you're a woman, you have ro be a housewife, you have to obey men, you have to cover yourself, you have to be a virgin. Being an lgbt person is not allowed in any form. Any ideas beyond the traditional beliefs are wrongful. This is what is called patriarchy. But I wanted to make it clear as people often diminish these things. I want the reader to understand how problematic this is and how difficult it makes to reconnect and join your ethnic community where you're met with disgust or even ostracized.

Another problem which might be even worse is that for lots of people in this communities the fight for their own people is not a fight against violence. It is violence for violence. Even though lots of these people witness all the problems of being hated for the ethnicity, the community is full of hatred towards other ethnicities, using of ethnic slurs, erasing other identities. Here decolonization isn't about dismantling the oppressive system, it's about extermination of the colonizers as an ethnicity, as a nation, as a civilization, and building your own.

Yesterday was sort of an apogee to my navigation in ethnic spaces of my country as I came across a few blogs that had surprisingly good articles about decolonization, and then I came to know the people who follow it. Only to find out that the person who was running the blog was literall supporters of terroristic groups such as Boko Haram, and went on claiming that this is the right way to decolonize - kill the wrongful ones that bring harm, be bloodthirsty, that's the right way of a warrior, destroy and exterminate colonizers and everyone who doesn't support you, who has a European lifestyle or ideology. And when I asked him what is the difference between them and colonizers - the reply was "Aim, we have different aims and intentions". At first I was a bit striken, but then I thought, absolute bullshit, the 'good intentions' were literally always used to commit genocides, this is exactly what made us all suffer. Another funny thing is that this person said he doesn't consider himself white. Why? Because he's a Muslim and he's indigenous. And believe me I saw his picture, he looks like a usual white European just with a beard. I know that the definitions of whiteness or its analogies here was different from the Wetsern Europe and United Stated. But even along with that we Tatars are already assimilated enough to often be passing and it is a privilege, it is different of you're clearly visibly different as Asian, Middle Asian or Caucasian* ethnicities. But eventually he called me a colonizer because I have a 'colonized mindset' if I'm against violence.

Maybe I don't understand something. But I just cannot accept praising of murder, wishes of extermination to particular ethnic groups, violence towards anyone who doesn't follow or share your ideas and lifestyle as decolonization. Hell, I cannot deem this as acceptable under any circumstances. You cannot defeat hatred with hatred and violence with more violence. You have to dismantle in system, not just change who's in charge.

But at the same time I'm utterly exhausted as I have lost all the hope that our indigenous nations and cultures will ever be resilent, have a good life while their people will have all the human rights. I don't know how to continue this fight.

Utterly hope to find some understanding.
