Frankie might be the worst wingman ever. Well to be fair he isn't really trying to set you up with anyone but still. He only has himself to blame for being stuck at some fancy ass bar that he doesn't belong in watching the girl of his dreams flirt with other guys.
He can feel the jealously burning in him but he really only has his time to blame. He's been harboring a crush on you for so long time and he's too much of a coward to say anything.
So instead when you mentioned how sad your love life has been lately he offered to be your wing man. Great move.
This bar sucked. The lighting is basically nonexistent so your eyes hurt trying to see anything. The drinks are overpriced and it feels like all the guys are just trying to get into your pants. You glance over towards Frankie who was standing across the bar. You sigh as you take another sip of your drink, wishing you were home instead.
Preferably in Frankie's arms. Even in the low light he looked so handsome. That raggedy baseball cap of his is gone letting his soft curls be free. What were you thinking? No one can take your mind off Frankie.
Ever since you met the guy you harbored a small crush on him. I mean how could you not? He's handsome, sweet, strong and a wonderful dad. Who doesn't love a single dad? But he's shown zero interest in you and he even offered to help set you up with other guys. Finishing off your drink you decide its time to go.
"Ready?" You ask Frankie as you lean your head against his shoulder.
"Absolutely." He wraps an arm around you and the two of you leave, deciding to drive to the nearest shitty fast food place and get a burger.
"That place was such a ripoff." You groan as you lean back in the booth. Frankie nods as he eats his fries.
"It's hopeless, I'm gonna be single forever." You throw a fry onto the tray and frown.
"No digas eso, preciosa"
"Come on Frank, you know it's true. When was the last time any guy showed an ounce of interest in me?" Frankie hesitates.
He knows the answer. Two minutes ago when he fell in love with your laugh again. Or yesterday when you fell asleep on his shoulder after movie night. To think that you can sit there and not realize how beautiful you are. It doesn't make any sense to him.
"Are you kidding me? Look at you. You're kind, funny, smart." He takes a deep breath and braces himself for whatever this conversation is going to bring.
"Todo sobre ti es perfecto." Your eyes fall to the table. Those are the words you've always dreamed of hearing from him.
"Don't say that unless you're trying to get me to fall in love with you." You say semi jokingly.
When he doesn't laugh you look back up. The tension is thick between the two of you.
"Would that be such a bad thing?" Is this real? Is he really saying what you think he is?
"No, it wouldn't." You say softly.
"I love you, and I should have said something a long time ago but I'm saying it now." Frankie watches your face as it remains unchanging. Every passing second is a stab to his heart. This was a mistake, he knew it.
"Frankie, I've been wanting to hear that for so long. I love you too." He lets out a laugh of relief and you smile. Soon the two of you are laughing together. In happiness and realizing how clueless you both have been.
"Let's get out of here." You say eagerly.
Dumping your trash you hurry back to privacy of his car. As you get in his cups your face and kisses you feverishly. Your hand snakes to the back of his head, grabbing a fistful of his soft curls.
"Want to come back to my place?" You ask breathlessly as you rest your forehead against his. Without a word he smirks and starts his car.
You feel so silly thinking of how long you've both been pining after each other and all the time you could have had. But you can't focus on that now, not when you have so much to look forward to with Frankie by your side.

Missing Fluff Moments in Volition
Like…the intimacy Briana and Selwyn share in that sliver of time they have together post Mesmer reveal, root sharing and firefly kiss but before the Regents arrive? I just think Tracy really coulda given them a week or at least a day or two in Volition post kiss like damn 😭 ik YA pacing has to be breakneck and also we have to let Nick have a chance in book three but like…can they get a BREAK?? imagine what those extra days of no lies, no secrets between them…
I can clearly see them making sweet, tender love to each other and also can see them jumping each other’s bones…and that is a different post entirely. But outside of sheer sexuality like just CONSIDER:
• Bree sharing Sel’s bed before sunrise ands she needs to get back to the main house? Looking him in the eyes and telling him she trusts he wouldn’t do anything she didn’t want to do? Sel unsure if he’s on the precipice of Demonia or the closest to humanity he’s ever been. Experiencing and acting on emotions he’s had so long…he is self loathing, touch starved, and deeply, deeply devoted my heart can’t take this—
• Another sparring match… The banter, the teasing? I for one want Bree to unexpectedly pin Sel down with Arthur’s strength. Yeah. YEAH.
• Bree seeing Sel’s relationship to aether post root sharing change you cannot tell me she wasn’t gazing at him lovingly while his head was titled back looking at his firework aether show. Magic signature scents/magical attunement to each other convo part 2??
• I’m still waiting for Sel being able to play the violin (that’s canon right? Did I hallucinate that?) to come into play. I feel like Aunt Lu has a fiddle somewhere and is probably off the grid as far as entertainment goes…prehaps a campfire concert? Or a private one for Bree? (Side note: Valec challenging Sel to a silly fiddle off to “The Devil went Down to Georgia” a la Guitar Hero 3? Someone PLEASE write that crack I will pay you—)
• Generally experimenting with aether—idk what exactly but just non lethal things. Can they just make cute shit together? Root sharing is in a similar vein but I’m sorry that escalates so fast my man is literally drunk off of her and she can feel his gaze intensify—I…I can’t even think of something fluffy it’s just—SCREAMS INTERNALLY
• Our beloved homosexual supporting cast, William and Alice, talking shit and theorizing over the dinner table when their friends keep disappearing oh my god they’re not even subtle about it?? Frankly I want a POV of them just WITNESSING the tension between them. During fights is the most interesting but also quiet moments of rest and healing
Demonia’s Descent has a sultry vibes fosho but had to have some manipulative, possessive energy folded in for the ✨theme✨. It’s musical genres are alt/rock/pop/synth which I think lines up too.
But like…I need the devotion and admiration energy. I need some R&B/neo soul/jazzy vibes…Maxwell, Sade, H.E.R., Xavier Omär…i stand ten toes down in my selections but there aren’t many black artists in Demonia’s Descent…I’m this👌🏾 freaking close to curating a Volition Brelwyn playlist oh my god oh my god oh my god—Update: I did it >:D

CAN I TELL YOU I THINK ABOUT THIS ENDLESSLY AND I NEED YOUR THOUGHTS TOO (btw happy belated valentines, i saw you did a valentines COLLAB, i've been meaning to binge!!!!!!!!!)
i think hajime has always been soft for the idea of love. yes, he's stoic and independent and likes to present himself as such an immovable strength that the premise of him and roses kind of seems paradoxical--but to me its so fitting.
maybe other guys tend to feel constricted by the concept of valentines day, where they're stuck to the old ball and chain and pressured to perform for a capitalistic holiday; but not iwaizumi. if you're in a relationship, he's going to the nines--doing the rose petals, writing the sweet but short message in the card, making the dinner reservations, and sharing a steamy and soapy bath with you are all ways that he participates because hajime likes you. these are all ways that he shows that he cares for you because sometimes he can't find the words to show that, so doing things is easier. (and yeah, this is a very man thing to be emotionally inept that the only applicable love language is by action, but sorry! that's hajime!).
and more importantly, when you like it? he's a beaming fool. he's picking the petals and spreading them around your room with the confidence of a king, because he knows you'll enjoy it. pulling the msby card so that he can get the super exclusive balcony seating and the booked out new restaurant downtown? he's smug as hell. running the bath and throwing that bubble shit in it, making the bathroom smell like lavender and mint? bitch is patting himself on the back saying "who's the man? i'm the MAN."
because showing that he loves you is natural to him, it's the absolute designation of strength. he's a secure dude, and he's secure in his relationship, and he won't ever be the one to write waxing poetry about his feelings for you, but he gets an innate pleasure out of treating you. because he loves you, and he knows you'll love these tiny things. so yeah, he kinda loves valentines. cause he gets to love you even more than he already does. and it's not like its because he knows any better or wants to prove that he's a better man than anyone else. like i genuinely don't even think he realizes he does valentines day better than any other boyfriend, he just does it because he wants to treat you and that the whole point of valentines dayl
and he gets wicked head from you so it's even better.

A Little Legendborn/Bloodmarked Scent Theory Part Two
William Sitterson scent profile - Citrus/Fresh
“The infirmary is William’s domain. He strides between the tables, his hands coated in silver aether so thick it looks like mercury. The bright citrus smell of his aether signature fills the room.”
What can I say, I love William and his sunny, yet firm disposition. Fruit in the citrus family include oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, kumquat, clementine, pomelo…you get the idea.
Citrus - Citrus oils and resins have the power to uplift our mood and bring peace to a space. Think of all the household cleaners you use, how many of them have a citrus profile? Ever wonder why you gravitate towards those scents? Citrus has been used in many cultures for centuries and has healing and therapeutic benefits. It is no wonder William is one of the few people that can calm Sel down in the heat of anger. He is like a gray-eyed Yoda, even-keeled and level. His tranquil sensibilities allow people to put their guard down and open up that much more. The history of the use of citrus in Ayurvedic medicine in India or in religious ceremonies in ancient Egypt is well documented for its ability to purify a space, bringing positive energy which promotes healing. The sweetness of this scent can reduce stress and anxiety.
My final cute William tidbit can be found in this quote:
“After a while, William hands me a lime-colored cloth handkerchief. I stare down at it, puzzled at the alarmingly bright fabric. I hear the smile in his voice. ‘It was my father’s. The line of Gawain is what discerning people call ‘ostentatious’.”
Limes - Limes and their oil represent the ability to cleanse the physical body and heal and purify the soul. Next time you are at Tarjay’, grab some of that lemon/lime-scented Mr. Clean and thank the Scion of Gawain.
Valechaz' scent profile - Soft Oriental, Dry Woods
“He leans into me slightly, and I get a whiff of something dark, spicy, and burning.”
“He steps nearer, until that leather and star-anise smell swirls thick in the air and my cheeks prickle.”
Valechaz’ scent profile is as spicy and sensual as he is. In my reading, I found that his scent calls back to a time of old (much like Incense Daddy Erebus, but more on that later) which is fitting for the 205 year-old most balanced Cambion in the region.
Leather- When used in perfume, leather scents are warm and rich, with a bit of musk. There are smoky and animalistic notes. Valec’s scent was described as burning (we know he brings the heat with him) and the way his eyes turn over red reminds me of a shark whose eyes turn over white before it bites. The scent of leather denotes luxury, sophistication, and masculinity (whatever that means to you). We know Valec is dressed to the nines daily, “Suited and booted” as the old folks used to say. He is also not to be trifled with as he has demonstrated he is 100% with the shits.
Star Anise- Sweet and licorice-y (yes, that is a word), star anise is spicy and intense. It is rich and exotic and is often added to oriental and gourmand fragrance compositions. Star anise compliments a variety of fragrances creating harmonious blends that have endless layering possibilities. Its presence enhances the overall scent, creates depth and complexity, and enables the creation of balanced, captivating fragrances.
The essence of Valec’s scent profile is luxurious, seductive, and balanced on the razor’s edge of ferocity.
Erebus Varelian- Scent Profile Woody Oriental or Woody Amber
“His aether signature surrounds me with scents I associate with ancient trees and holy places: myrrh and saps, incense burning.”
Erebus (affectionately known as Incense Daddy) is such an interesting and mysterious being. He is calculated and opportunistic, and I imagine he has not survived this long without brutal and unwavering tact and a bit of street smarts. His scent hints at his true identity and the power that lives within it.
Incense - Spicy, resinous, and woody, the smell of incense creates a mysterious, warm, richly scented experience. For eons incense has been used in cultural and religious practices dating back to ancient Egypt, China, and India. Its spicy, powdery notes are seductive (like Valechaz’) and smelling incense when none is present can denote spiritual presence or messages from the spiritual realm. Incense can be associated with protection and spiritual growth.
Myrrh - Myrrh tends to go hand in hand with incense. It is described as having a balsamic, spicy, smoky odor. Made from bleeding a Commiphora tree of its resin, in magical circles, myrrh is used with cleansing and purification rituals. It can also be combined with incense for protection against negative energy and rituals related to banishing and breaking curses.
It is no wonder Erebus’ scent is derived from tree resin. Trees hold powerful ancient symbolism (strength, growth, protection) and represent an interconnectedness of all living things. Erebus has been around the block in many iterations, hiding in plain sight. His scent profile calls back to a time when Gods walked amongst men.
“Dark hair, olive skin, a long black jacket, and an aether signature older than the ancients themselves. How many people has he killed, just to walk among us?”

waahhh sunarin’s love is playful and reminds me of youth! it’s nearly impossible to feel stressed when he’s around bc he’s so good at keeping me grounded and reminding me to find joy in the little things heh~ everyday with him feels like the honeymoon phase. he reminds me of the feeling you get when you’re wrapped up in a warm blanket — safe and comfy!

and oh man! my ideal valentine's date?? my bf's birthday is the day after so we typically celebrate both together (but more so his birthday) so i haven't been on a proper valentine's date in a looong time but! if we were to, i think i'd like to go on a picnic! especially if we make the food together! i used to bake him a lot of things when we first got together, so it'd be nice to have an excuse to do that again too!
