I will ALWAYS be VIP. I cried when I watched the Still Life MV and MV reaction by the juniors.

I am late but I don’t follow K-POP like I used to, but it was a huge part of my life and got me through some of the darkest times in my life too. Especially Big Bang. I fell in love with them in 2006 after DB5K and Super Junior got me interested in K-pop. My adolescent to college years were carried by BB. When I went through my suicidal phase in college, BB music got me through it. That’s why my first tattoo I got in 2011 was “Until Whenever” (with “Trust Your Struggle”)

2011 was not only rough for me, but Big Bang went through a lot that year too. It was, in my mind, a sign of solidarity with them. They got me through my dark period, I will always be there for theirs.

As I got older, responsibilities grew, and K-POP blew up. So many new groups and I couldn’t keep up. But I kept tabs on YG Family (Despite the company itself, I Stan all the artists) and when everyone left for military services and Seungri’s scandal I honestly thought that could have been it.

But I cried watching that MV. All the nostalgia, flash backs, the lyrics, and feelings…was overwhelming. I haven’t been on tumblr in forever but this was the platform and community who freaked and geeked out with me about Koop. My safe haven.

Idk where I’m going with this honestly but I just hope the boys are proud, doing well, and will always remember we VIP will ALWAYS have their back. UNTIL WHENEVER!

Hyuna and Junhyung...

Now, when we speak about "dating scandals" in the realms of k-pop, it's usually tongue in cheek and not a real scandal. In this case, it might actually be scandalous for real. Former Cube employees Hyuna and Junhyung have confirmed to be dating. Not the first public relationship for either, but why is this one gathering so much backlash? For that, we have to go back to the year 2019...

Seungri and his shady friends owned a club called "Burning Sun" where all kinds of illegal things were happening (including drug use, human trafficking, rape, etc.). He and others involved were prosecuted on charges, including prostitution mediation, sharing illegally filmed content (molka), and embezzlement. Junhyung was amongst those friends involved, he admitted to watching illegal videos (molka) sent to him by Jung Joon Young (who went to prison for his crimes like Seungri). He left his group Beast/Highlight and only recently made his return to the entertainment industry.

Fast forward, Hyuna (who's made a name for herself as a feminist) is now dating this POS and wants her fans to "Please view us prettily." Of course many fans are disappointed and don't understand why she would date someone who allegedly mistreated ex-girlfriends and watched molka for fun. It doesn't align with her values nor with her message of female empowerment. She also shared how much she was sexualized and disrespected by the entertainment industry (true), so to throw those values away and date a guy like him... is weird to say the least. I don't know if they're a real couple or if this is PR for upcoming music, either way, I don't give a s#t. Good luck you two!

There’s not much tea to serve frankly. Like most BTS scandals it was a nothing burger. It happened when Jimin went to Paris for his vacation, he and his manager visited a local pub and some fans recognized him. Two women. They all sat down together had drinks and played a forehead snapping game, they recorded it despite him asking them not to and posted it online. People flipped out. ARMYs harassed the girls into a hole, k-pop stans accused him of everything Seungri had been accused of earlier that year plus a smidgen of cocaine allegations. All of it was bogus once people watched the full clip and the girls admitted nothing happened.

Moral of the story: I hate patriarchy which makes us women believe:

1. We should be known by our husbands' last names: I HATE HATE HATE when this is enforced by the government and the society like it's both not fair because I have to change all my achievements and legal documents due to marrying someone and they have to do nothing AND this is how it should be, how I should be known. I have a name, I have a surname and you'll know us women by that.

2. We are valuable if we are someone who's valuable to a man: I understand that many of us yearn for romantic love due to this being romanticized in life but come on people, there are many types of love and all of them are beautiful. We are surrounded by friends, families and such so we don't need a man to feel loved. (Especially women friendships are fireee)

So fuck it all, dear ladies and gentlemen, and love yourselves, your lives and the people around your circle. Having fun and caring about people is okay but not to the extent to losing yourself in the name of their love

Yes indeed! I personoly want to keep my last name for personal reasons even though it comes from my father too. I think people used the term « Mrs.Jeon », « Mrs.Min », « Mrs.Kim » etc… because it is easier for them to talk about the spouses as we do not know anything from them. In South Korea women do keep their last name but the daughters take the one from their father… so in fact it is still the father’s last name… Spain is better at this as the children take both of their parents’s last name which I find very… logic?!

You are still right! Whether it is the delusionals, the women around us etc. It is so sad that they fight for a man to feel their existence validated. They try their best to fit in a category that was not made for them (and still is not) just for a man to lay eyes on them in hope… in hope!!! That he will fall in love. Yes the man is attractive, yes the man is rich, yes he’s famous, yes he seems lovely, yes he is like that and like this and he is a big fantasy for them but even if we told them he could beat them they would still love him.

I mean! What about the Burning Sun scandal?! Seungri is still idolized by his fans, some are still preached whereas they are criminals. Some men (who are not celebrities) got to jail and still, some women are in love with them just because the man is attractive, « he did nothing wrong », « I don’t care ». It is stupidity for some if not a mental illness (with all the respect I have for those suffering from it). We can’t fight that in fact and even if it is decouraging, let’s educate girls to not excuse whatever a boy does. After some women stay bound to their abusive partner…

Anyway, those are not fans for sure and if they think they are in the right way : let them be at the end of the road, the fall will be so violent they will just be aggressive/manipulative/depressed or repent.

Hello, sorry for taking your time, please answer when you want to!! I just want to share my feelings...

Im new to the Bigbang fandom, i discovered them in February 2023... At first i liked TOP (of course) but when i started to discover their personalities, i suddenly was charmed by Seungri. Before getting into the fandom, first thing i did is reading basic info about the group, so before knowing Seungri better, i knew that he had huge scandal in 2019. It didnt stop me digging deeper about Bigbang. I watched variety shows and interviews they did and their performances and i just fell in love with Seungri. Hes so funny, charismatic and charming guy. And hes voice is incredible. When i heard his part in songs and him talking for the first time, i thought "wow he has such a beautiful voice". I liked his voice much more than TOPs (i thought TOPs voice is weird and wasnt sure i like it or not), but i stopped myself liking Seungri from the start because of all the mess that happened in 2019. But. My feelings. Their uncontrollable.

I fell in love with Seungri and i feel sad because I cant talk with anybody about it. Im afraid i would get critisized liking him, so I avoid any Bigbang fans. But I cant help loving him. I wish i dicovered Bigbang so much so much earlier

But regarding Seungri, I feel you about being hesitant to like him. I'm a newer fan as well and before I read up on the 2019 debacle felt like I had to dislike him just from a moral standpoint. Didn't take long to discover how much of a farce his role in the "burning sun scandal" was (it's a mislabel to even title it that...); personally the more I learned about BigBang I was just like... this guy? Seungri? Really? The guy who can't even hide his own phone and dms on I Live Alone? It didn't line up, maybe because it didn't line up. It's really too bad some fans put their own biases and agenda above basic morality and a man's innocence, deciding instead to support the smear campaign and bury the real issues like the corruption and lack of women's rights in South Korea under the rug. But such are the sheep. (Sorry for going off on it, I just... I will forever get passionate about that whole thing/similar issues.)

Anyway, you should know that there are a lot of Seungri fans, they just mostly hang out on twitter; unfortunately here on tumblr a bit of an ot4(3?) cult has formed who likes to harass and bully off any ot5s as soon as they appear. There are a few of us here, too, though! ( @topsodapop makes a lot of gifs, and has been gifing the recent Seungri content as well.) But I'd head to twitter if what you're looking for is a large community to love on Seungri/talk about Seungri on the daily with, it's just too dead here at the moment, for any BigBang content, really. 1. G-Dragon

G-Dragon has been associated with various colorful Kpop controversies. Alot of them drove around drugs and narcotics. He was even in for the marijuana test.

However, one of his own greatest Kpop controversies would be being the rumored boyfriend of 8 years younger 3rd Generation idol Kim Jennies. 

As both the parties received a lot of backlash. Very recently, G-Dragon, or Kwon Ji-yong, was found in yet another controversy.

In October 2023, G-Dragon was exclusively associated with yet another drug scandal, however, he soon denied having anything to do with them. 

2. Kim Garam

The group rose to fame with their music and charisma. Additionally, Kim Garam was also allegedly the female spotted in the “Drunk-Dazed” music video of popular Hybe group Enhypen.

However, rumors followed, leading to one of the most career-breaking Kpop controversies.

Kim Garam, was in high school and was known to juggle idolship and school very well. Allegedly, she was also a bully.

The rumors spread like wildfire very early in her career. Both Hybe and Source Music were quick to respond to these and deny them, as slanders for the members. It was found that the claims were false as well.

It was a sudden shock to the industry when these Kpop controversies rose again within a few weeks. The school that Garam studied at released a notice taking disciplinary action, and not one but two victims came up.

Sadly, Garam was terminated from her contract only 79 days into her debut as an idol. She was forced to go back to her old life again.

3. Seungri

This is hands down one of the greatest Kpop controversies to date, as the controversy itself has its own Wikipedia page. Yes, we are speaking about the “Burning Sun Scandal”.

Thoughts on Gun as a musician? What type of music will he make? Will he cause a controversy at any music award show?

Gun as a musician…? Tbh idk if you meant someone who plays an instrument, or someone who sings/raps/etc. But ugghhhh… I’m honestly torn at the thought of it at first. However, this is what I think Gun as a musician would be:

He’ll be a singer of some sort. His voice? Husky, lower octave than the average singer, and more of a bass tone? (If that makes sense, lol.) Overall, I imagine this man having a deep voice when he sings, and he’ll probably be one of those singers who sings sensual R&B or songs that revolve around getting fucked up or flaunting his money. Kinda like DEAN’s or some of TAEMIN’s (from SHINee) music. The theme that he wants to portray through his music is how being rich is powerful. More of a darker bad boy image than the typical “K-pop” vibes. Corrupt, confident, and definitely cocky.

God, I can go forever just comparing DEAN & TAEMIN’s outfits to Gun’s.

However, his manager would try and force him to sing actual love songs (yk the sappy songs), and then he’ll refuse because he believes that it doesn’t fit his image as a whole. He’s very picky at who he collabs with in his songs, and the probability of him choosing you as the featured artist for his song would be close to zero. 1% accepted, while the other 99% will most likely hate him and his ego for not being chosen. (He’ll make an exception for Daniel Park.) Okay, but imagine him PERFORMING these songs on stage. I feel like he’d be down to learn how to dance, just to show off how much of a “perfect” human being he is. He’s very confident in his own skills, so dancing shouldn’t even be a problem for him. This man’s a perfectionist down to the last T. Don’t even get me started on his actual lifestyle. If he were to become a musician, he’d definitely cause a lot of scandals. The guy is a walking problematic red-flagged artist. (I don’t know if you can even compare him to Seungri, from BIGBANG. Because his scandals had me shocked even to this day.💀)

And if he did go to a music award ceremony, he definitely would cause a LOT of controversy. But let’s be honest, this man doesn’t give a FUCK about what he says or does when faced in front of the camera. This man is too prideful to even thank anyone, but himself for his own achievements. And he will be challenging artists and call them out, saying that he’ll beat them to #1 on the Billboard Charts or something. Yeah, he’s THAT arrogant asshole that everybody HATES in the music industry.

Gun’s speech: “The only person that I’d like to thank is myself. Without me, I wouldn’t have been the best artist of this year’s ceremony. Why would they even give me the title in the first place, if I weren’t the best in the music label? oh yeah what happened with seungri is that right at the start of his scandal he went to the military and then after a bit got put in military jail for a year and 6 months (which ended the other day) so thanks to yg having both police and government connections (i think hes actually being investigated for that rn or was but got off free), he not only barely went to jail but also just avoided his entire military service and doesnt have to redo it
