Hi everyone! I'm Lelanthe (on Twitter as @Lelanthe), and welcome to the world of collectible figures dedicated to the Chinese television show Word of Honor (山河令; Shānhé lìng) and the two main actors, Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun.
This Tumblr is a daily chronicle of my daily growing collection of these small (generally 6-10 cm) resin or PVC figs. There are few official ones, but the vast majority of these are fan-made on a non-profit basis in China with a lot of love and care. The figs (and the occasional diorama!) fall into four main categories:
#wenzhou - the CP (couple pairing) of Wen Kexing x Zhou Zishu
#junzhe - the CP of Gong Jun x Zhang Zhehan
#jzeu - Junzhe Extended Universe, which are characters from Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun's catalog of films and tv shows
#zhang zhehan and #gong jun - while many fans are fans of both actors, there are of course some solo fans, and they dedicate their fig groups to one actor.
I'm an American that does not speak Chinese, and my translations of the sets/names are generally the fig maker's names, courtesy of Google Translate. As we all know, machine translation is a work in progress, so please forgive any errors you see!

Words can't describe how much I love this show (or these two actors, and how much joy they have brought me), so I'll leave with you with a heartfelt shameless plug - if you haven't watched it, it's available with English subtitles for free on YouTube here as well as on Netflix (although if you watch on Netflix, be sure to go on YouTube for the all-important episode 37). I promise that future you will thank you!

Word of honor / Tale of the wanderers. Based of BL novel Tian Ya Ke by Priest.
Mom, I want a Gong Jun for my 25th birthday. 😭
This drama is *chef's kiss*
I can't think of anything else but to watch this drama and I am also reading the novel right now.
I love all the characters.
Main Cast:
Gong Jun - Wen Kexing
Zhang Zhehan - Zhou Zishu
I also love the other characters like: Scorpion King, Ye Baiyi, Gu Xiang, Cao Weining.
A must watch!

We've hit a new level of meta lol.  We're going to explain the title of two dramas in the same video XD If you've been observant, you'd have realised that both the Untamed (陈情令 Chén qíng lìng) and Word of Honor (山河令 Shānhé lìng) both carry a "Ling" in their titles. So if you've curious as to what 令 means, well here we go!
Transcript under the cut
In the popular dramas, the Untamed and Word of Honor, both carry a “Ling” in their title.  But what does it mean?  Lets listen carefully to the explanation of the word “Ling.”
Do look at the way “Ling” is written in Oracle writing.  It looks like a person that’s kneeling and giving orders.  Some also interpret this as a person who is receiving orders.
In Shuowen Jiezi, “Ling” is defined as “to give an order.”  Hence, “to order” would be the most interpretation.  One would naturally relate this to a person who gives.  In ancient times, the court magistrate, or Shang Shuling carries a “Ling” in their title.
“Ling” could also refer to “Ling pai”.  This is a token used in Taoism.  It originated from the Tiger Tally that was used to command armies.  A dharma would use this token to summon wind and rain, or to cast our evil spirits, or to summon deities.  In CQL, Wei Wuxian uses the Ghost flute Chenqing to command ghosts.
“Ling” could also mean beauty or kindness.  For example, in “My Dear Princess”, there is a concubine (Fei) named “Ling Fei”.  In ancient times, the concubine’s name was important.  In the “Empresses in the Place, the concubines were named Xigui Fei (Delightful & Elegant Concubine), Hua Fei (Beautiful Concubine), Jing Fei (Respectful Concubine).  Their names had to be auspicious and were reflective of their status.  “Ling Wei” in “My Dear Princess” was greatly doted on by the Emperor Qianlong.  Hence it is common for children to be named “Ling”
In everyday life, “Ling” is used as a sign of respect.  For example “Ling Zun” (another person’s father), “Ling Tang” (another person’s mother), “Ling Ai” (another person’s daughter)
In 2019, Japan declared they were entering the era of “Ling He”/Reiwa.  This is Japan’s 248 Era.  It means “harmony” and “beauty” in this context.  Reiwa first appeared in the Japanese Man'yōshū text and it means “beauty and peace”.  The poet Zhang Heng has also written “the moon in Feb hunts high (ling yue), the weather is calm and warm.”
We’ve talked about the cultural significance of “Ling”.  Everyone might have a different interpretation of how it’s used in the “Untamed” and “Word of Honor.”
(We would also like to add that in the context of ‘Word of Honor’, the title of the show was named after the ‘Shan He Ling” token which is used as a summoning tool.  So it that context, it means to “order” and it also works similarly to a “Ling Pai”)
