sh1 locations usually don't get much recognition so i feel like adding some explanatory notes on it (just in case)

the place is the secret chamber in Green Lion Antiques where distracted from prayer alessa is having a tender moment gazing at the point where God's painting is supposed to be

(GOD- IM TRULY BEWITCHED BY THIS GAME THE WAY IT NEVER THROWS STRAIGHT FACTS IN UR FACE AND WISELY KEEPS ATMOSPHERE OF UNDERSTATEMENT TILL THE VERY END SO FKING CHARMING–)

whatever ceremonial stuff it is, it had started to burn before one of harry's passing out

and due to perspective in my drawing alessa stands directly on it ..

i'd like to sum up the post w little art comparison bc i also pursued the goal to redraw one of my old drawings

the first one is pretty rough for sure still luv both of them tho

Esperándote - Vanesa Quiroz. so last week i was playing sh1 for the first time n after missing the rifle n being pretty sure i missed at least one other thing i decided not to try to get the good ending. harry completely fails to save his daughter n then this song plays n it's like. the silent hill osts are incredible theyve been some of my favs way before i ever played the games but this was so different from what i was expecting it kinda haunted me for a little bit

My Favorite Game - The Cardigans. this is the only one thats not technically from a video game. but i heard it in gran turismo 2. it's just got that 90s anti-romantic girl thing i rly love.

God and Man - Donna Burke. again from another game ive never played but anyway. u can tell im feeling dramatic when im listening to this one LOL. dont get me wrong its actually genuinely beautiful i just listen to it when i wanna cry rly bad lmao

anyway this ended up being way longer than i thought it would so that was fun ^^

☕ your thoughts & feelings on the music of various video games you've played? do you have favorite/least favorite tracks?

Oh boy... where do I even begin?

I suppose I'll start with Hylics since Chuck Salamone is gonna be treating us with the rock opera very soon!

Out of all of the video game soundtracks I've obsessively listened to outside of gameplay, I do believe I've listened to the ost's of both Hylics games the most. This largely comes down to the extremely unique mood both of them provide to me as a listener, even compared to most other albums I've heard

H1's music is more simplistic compared to 2's full-on prog rock instrumentation, yet still has this utterly mesmerizing, dream-like quality to each track. It perfectly captures the mood of an alien planet in quiet turmoil, but with an anarchist messiness to show how our main characters are going to cause carnage to save the world. H2's tracks meanwhile do a great job establishing a very specific mood for each location and/or event while still keeping that utterly alien sound the first game established. Chuck and Mason did such an amazing job at making the music of these games part of their core appeal 🌙 🎸 🌯

Besides Hylics, I've also been playing the Silent Hill games for the first time (having completed 1 and am nearly halfway through 2). Honestly this is yet another example of a game series practically having its core identity shine through its music, because everything I've heard of Akira Yamaoka's scores for these games have been phenomenal! The theme music for SH1 alone has pleasantly haunted my mind since I first heard it, and it's the reason I refuse to ever skip the intro. Sadly my disc for SH2 must be a little busted because it doesn't have an intro for some reason, but so far there have been several times in the game where I just stop what I'm doing an stand in a room for several minutes, just taking in the melancholy atmospheric tracks as a short reprieve from the horrors <3

I honestly can't pick "favorite" or "least favorite" tracks from any of these games (especially least favorite because they're all so good!)

for the longest time k liked both sh1 & sh2 soundtracks but always always preferred sh2 over sh1 but lately sh1's ost is growing on me a lot. used to not be as a big of a fan of how abrasive and loud a lot of jt is but for some reason something in my brain clicked and now i keep listening to it
