The explanation for why Jimmy Perez seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth in season 8 is that he and Meg ran off to thw Bahamas together to start a new life far away from all Shetlandic crime. First Meg was a little puzzled as to why Duncan was there too, and why they’re all sleeping in the same big bed, but she quickly realized how cruel it would be to separate the two of them again. Aaand they live there happily ever after and Perez lasts all of two years before setting up as a PI because he’s going stir crazy without any detective work...
I've finally gotten around to seasons 6 and 7 of Shetland and...maybe it's just the shipper in me, but it feels like they introduced Meg simply because Jimmy and Duncan were getting a little TOO close.
According to the Express, Cassie is going to be in tonight's episode (series 7, episode 4).
It also says that Erin Armstrong qualified as a primary school teacher, which might also explain why she was only in a few scenes in series 6 and why we haven't seen her in series 7 until now.
Going in for the first kiss and getting interrupted (by Cassie or Sandy would be amazing)
Duncan/Jimmy (of course)
😍 miss your Jimmy/Duncan
This is for the interrupted kiss. I just couldn’t resist that one. And I am actually posting this within 4 days of having received the prompt which may be some sort of record for me :)

“Hey,” Jimmy says, as if he hasn’t said just that to Duncan a thousand times over the years in a thousand ways; exhausted, exasperated, teasing, content, relieved, fond even. But he’s never said it quite like this. Never with his face so close to Duncan’s it’s barely in focus. Never with that soft look in his eyes.
“Hey,” Duncan says, more of a sigh than a word.
Jimmy draws his hand up Duncan’s arm to his shoulder, fingers tripping along the edge of his collar like he’s asking permission. Duncan nods and Jimmy’s fingers stray to his neck. It’s a nothing touch, a brush of fingertips across his skin, but it sends sparks along Duncan’s nerve endings. Jimmy traces his fingers up Duncan’s neck to his jaw, cups his face in his palm and Duncan can’t help but press his cheek into Jimmy’s hand.
“Duncan.” Jimmy smiles and before Duncan can say his name Jimmy is leaning in, their lips meet and the sparks fizzle and pop, bright arcs of pleasure, like fireworks. Fireworks.
In the end, Jimmy didn’t think of Fran until afterwards when he was curled around Duncan’s spine listening to him snore. He remembered her all in a rush. Wondered what she’d make of him and Duncan tangled together like this. Realised he couldn’t remember what the knots of her vertebrae felt like, whether they were smaller than Duncan’s.
A lump was building in his throat. He bit into the fleshy part of his hand to stop it.

When Billy finds an injured Nathusius’ Pipistrelle bat in the station, he calls a very special veterinarian. Sandy is disturbed by the bat, but fascinated by the veterinarian.
it was heartbreaking seeing Jimmy grieve for his mother, at the same time i marvel at his strength & his commitment to his job.
Duncan seems to have a knack for getting into trouble.
even tho he was manipulated into doing what he did, he should've known better & should've listened to Jimmy. his emotions got the best of him & now both he & Jimmy are paying the price
i feel season six particularly needed a lot of grace as it dealt with a few touchy topics & Douglas Henshall yet again shows us what a great actor he is. it was wonderful seeing him on my screen again 😌❤️
Cassie is a strong lass but caring for a grandparent who has dementia & managing Duncan's bar/restaurant won't be an easy task. even tho she's an adult, i feel annoyed at Duncan b/c his actions mean that her one reliable parent is now dealing with the consequences of his actions & she's left to manage pretty much everything on her own
