Hello! It’s been a while 😅 few years, to be exact. Anyways here’s that painting that I never posted a finished picture of 💕

The Empress, Oil on Canvas, 2022

The Empress understands how to mix the magical with the practical. With the help of the creative forces of the universe, she uses her passion and the tools at hand to build the world she wishes to see. She beckons you to mix the practical with the magical, for you are more skilled than you might give yourself credit for. Tap into your emotional center and passion; don't be afraid to let your heart shine and pour everything you can into it.

Shadow side: Beware of pouring yourself empty for something that isn't refilling your cup. Starving yourself figuratively or literally for anything is unsustainable and even dangerous. Show the world your heart but still keep it protected.

Working on the Empress again on this rainy day. Enjoying the company of my pup and my friends over video call. Today the weight of the circumstances hit deeper than it has. I am a forest girl who is now in the middle of a city. My trees were traded for buildings and powerlines, and my streams for roads. After everything shut down and I slowed to a halt, my mind has had the opportunity to catch up after the marathon I’ve been running for a year and a half. I miss my friends and my forest home. I miss the feel of the ground on my bare feet, i miss the mountain breeze that when I filled my lungs the energy would fill my being…. and now seems to be surrounded by the grey of the roads and sidewalks and streetlights and signs and cars. It’s not easy, but I know I am where I’m supposed to be. And with this almost claustrophobic feeling of the confines of buildings blocking the views of the mountains, I remind myself of what I’m grateful for. I’m grateful for my dog, who loves me unconditionally, and my partner who is infinitely supportive and loving. I am grateful for my friends and family who are only a phonecall away. I am happy to be where I am in the time that I am. I found somewhere I can make a real difference, and have many wonderful friends here who are creating something bigger than themselves. I am grateful that while I am no longer nestled in the forest, it’s only a short drive away, and has some of the most spectacular views in all of Appalachia. Like the Empress, I look to the light and interpret it into my paintings for all to see. Mushroom Bloom 2020 is one of the first paintings I started working on during the early days of the Non-Stop Vision Train Global Art Jam. The Corona Virus appeared in the middle and mushrooms started to sprout out of it one by one until there was a bloom of color representing the renaissance of vision within humanity that would blossom out of this time of the great global pandemic of 2020.   Each one of these mushrooms represents one of us as unique blossoms of a mycelial network powerful enough to bring healing and balance if we slow down enough to listen. It is through the full expression of our beauty and originality that we find peace. The foundation of this piece began in the opening circle of the 2019 Mixtek Mystics painting intensive that Joe Bob Merritt and I led at the @chapelofsacredmirrors , NY in October 2019. As an exercise in spontaneity, creation and destruction, all 21 of us spent 2 minutes drawing on each others panels as we passed them around. The 8th annual Workshop at @chapelofsacredmirrors was remarkable. With half being friends from previous workshops and half coming for the first time, the congruency and sense of connectedness was solid. Each person amazed me in ways I wasn’t expecting and I think we all had such experiences with each other. Everyone’s stories and process taught me so much. My family has expanded yet again and am so grateful for these deep experiences together. Exploring what it is to be human in an incubator designed to support deep soul work while making something with our hands. . Workshops for 2020 are about to be announced. LA 11-18 and Costa Rica Feb 1-8 are the next ones... . Any interest out there if I started doing online workshops? More to that soon... .
