#snarry: love song for a vampire

Writ, my darling love, I'm seeing all these Snape arts in your Tumblr and I'm getting more and more excited about your next snarry 😌. Can u give us a snip or is it an anon fest? 🥺 Also, about that wonderful snarry+draco art you shared, would you ever write a triad with them? 😍
Sending love, tai 💜
Hi Tai darling, thank you for your lovely message!!! I am SO in my Snape and Snarry feels at the moment and I'm working on several things. I have two fest pieces which are anon so I can't say anything about them really. Secret Snarry Swap I have nearly finished and that should post some time in December. I also claimed a prompt from @snarry-fest-adopt-a-prompt which starts posting in January. I definitely would write Harry/Draco/Severus and am actually working on one now! I have written them before in Forget Me Not but the one I'm working on has a different dynamic with established Drarry.
Finally, I have a fic that I'm desperate to try to finish for October although there's still quite a lot to do on it. It's not for a fest, so I can share a little! It's a vampire!Harry post-war Snarry fic, working title 'Love Song For A Vampire' - snip below the cut! I hope you enjoy it <3
“Am I conversing with a ghost?” There’s a bitter, dangerous edge to Snape’s voice. “Come now, Potter. Don’t play me for the fool. You’re as much flesh and blood as I am.”
“Not exactly.” Harry winces, wishing Snape would shut up about blood. He looks up and meets Snape’s furious gaze. “I’m not dead. More…undead.” Despite the fact there’s nothing funny about the situation, Harry lets out a strangled laugh. “I call it my pointy little problem.”
“Undead?” Snape purses his lips, his knuckles white from clutching his wand so tightly. “You’re a—?”
“Vampire, apparently.” The word is heavy on Harry’s tongue. It tastes like curses and Dark Arts. “Carrow cast a spell and it got through my shield. Kingsley reckons it’s ancient magic. I suppose Unforgivables get a bit boring when you’ve been flinging them around at everyone for years.”
“Foolish, idiotic…” Snape trails off, his fury rendering him speechless. He pinches the bridge of his nose, his voice muffled. “When did you last drink?”
“I had that damson wine about ten minutes—”
“Blood, you insufferable brat. When did you last drink blood?”
“Oh.” Harry still doesn’t like the idea of drinking blood, truth be told. His body craves it, but he tries to put it off until it’s the only thing that will satiate his thirst, like a cool glass of water on a hot summer day. “A few weeks,” he mumbles.
“A few weeks?” Snape snarls and his wand sparks as if it knows its owner is itching to cast violent spells directly at Harry. “Are you aware of the danger you’re putting yourself in? The danger you’re putting me in?”
“Relax, I’m not about to bite you.” Harry would quite like to bite Snape truth be told, but he’s not about to start gnawing at random people unless they specifically ask him to drink from them. Not that he’s found anyone mad enough for that yet. “I’ve got a flask if I need it.”
“Then drink, you foolish child. Don’t you recognise the signs of Fading?”
“Fading?” Harry stares at Snape, his skin prickling as a shiver travels the length of his spine. Whatever Fading is it sounds rubbish. “What’s that?”
“Have you done no research into your predicament at all?” Snape’s voice lowers, the same note of anger buzzing beneath the surface. Eventually he sighs, the sound almost resigned. He plucks at the buttons on his shirt to expose more of his neck and torso. “That can wait. I assume this is what you came here for?”
“No. No.” Harry clenches his hands into fists, closing his eyes against the way Snape’s increasingly exposed throat assaults his senses. “Merlin, Snape. Do your bloody shirt up. I’ve got some Niffler blood in my flask, they donate it to the Vampire Preservation Society. It doesn’t harm them it’s…delicious.”

getting to know you tag game
I haven't done one of these in forever! Thank you for the tag @mallstars (also omg hi *blush*)
three ships: Pick three?! But there's... *gestures grandly at the armada of half-sunk ships*
Okay. It's Drarry (unsurprising), Spideypool (your honor, i love them), and echoing @mallstars, Aziraphale/Crowley (hard to spell but meant to be). And that's my traumatized ship sandwich.
first ship: It was Snarry. I will not be taking questions.
last song: Chaise Lounge by Wet Leg
last movie: Last movie was probably Barbie, but I just binged all of Interview with the Vampire last night and hooooooo baby. *fans self*
currently reading: lmao honestly???? i'm switching between Stephen King's "Christine" and a book called "Dirty Laundry: Why adults with ADHD are so ashamed and what we can do to help." Because I like to keep my mental health on knife's-edge at all times.
last thing i wrote: "They don’t talk about the kiss, but Draco thinks about it. He thinks about it fucking constantly."
currently writing: a secret fest piece. though writing is probably a strong word for what i'm doing. Agonizing would be better. Flailing a little.
if you haven't already done it, i'll tag: @lettersbyelise @mintawasalreadytaken @xanthippe74 @sitp-recs @wolfpants @kbrick

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you. learn to know your mutuals and followers.(ू•‧̫•ू⑅)♡
Thank you @danpuff-ao3 ! I kept the answers all fandom related because, well, fandom makes me happy!
5. Rarepairs. I love hearing how people ship characters, the more mental gymnastics the better. I have two rarepairs in the hp fandom: Orion Black/Severus Snape and Tobias Snape/Albus Severus Potter. The mental gymnastics are real!
4. Fandom development of a minor character. One of mine: Tobias Snape went missing in 1975 and is a vampire now. You can not convince me otherwise. I love how Charlie Weasley is depicted in fandom too! I never gave him much thought until I started seeing him paired with Draco. It really opened up the character for me.
3. Fandom playlist. I am a music hunter and if a fanfic author says they listened to a particular song while writing a fic, I will listen to it. Don’t be afraid to put what you listen to for inspiration in the notes of your fic. Finding new music on AO3 is like an Easter egg to me!
2. Fest and other Fandom Events. I don’t have a lot of time myself, but I love seeing other people’s works in fandom events. I’m a rabid fandom consumer. Not participating much myself, but always enjoying the show.
1. Age gaps in fictional ships. I’m sorry, I know recently it’s become controversial, but I can’t really get hardcore into a pairing unless there is a significant age gap. In Hp I ship Snarry, in the Batman fandom I ship Slade Wilson/Dick Grayson. It’s the component I need to hyper fixate for *looks through my life* decades! Decades I’ve been into Snarry. Snarry is the ship I blame for this particular kink.

Snarry - Manchester
Drarry - Tattoos
Snarry - AAP [I can't talk about this one as it's for an anon fest]
Hinny - If She Ever Leaves [I called this 'Hinny' which I realise is the ship name for Harry/Ginny but it's actually 100% queer girl love story Hermione/Ginny and I do not know my portmanteaus and I can't be arsed to change it, I know what I mean]
Drarry - Little Compton Street (New York Edition)
Destiel - Last Night at the Fallen Angel
Drarry - Midnight Rain
Potter Misc. - Three Generations [This is a belated gift fic and I promise the execution will be better than the weird sounding premise]

WIP/Progress Monday
Tagged by @bixgirl1 to set out what I’m working on and progress made with small excerpts if available. Thank you for the tag!!!
Recently finished/Nearly finished: I’ve mainly been working on original flash fiction and three festive fics for HP and One Direction fandom but I can’t really say anything about any of them as all are anon. My WIPs are firmly in can wait until next year territory but I want to play so here are my primary upcoming fic projects, all HP fandom (for the first time in a long while) or OF. All titles are WIPs too because I fight with titles and lose.
Main Projects (FANFIC)
The Ghosts of Godric’s Hollow (Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy). 1,000 words of outline / plot. This is my first big writing project for next year. A novel-length Drarry in which strange magic is afoot, the dead keep coming back to life and Harry’s house is haunted by the ghost of Draco Malfoy who has an opinion on everything.
Love Song For A Vampire (Harry Potter/Severus Snape). 2,000 words. My second big writing project for next year. A novel-length Snarry in which those rumours about Snape being a vampire turn out to be right on the money.
Glitter Lust (Ooh La La) (Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy), 3,000 words. A kink / leather / fetish fairly confused premise which is basically hoping a dommy Draco and stupid boys pretending feelings haven’t been caught can save it from a lack of any real plot outside of ‘sweaty sex.’ Think gritty clubs and leather bars. The title for this will definitely change but listen to the Goldfrapp song Ooh La La because it’s so gooood.
“The places we go aren’t exactly open to all and sundry which is lucky, given the things you make me do to you.”
Harry glares. “I don’t make you do anything.”
“I’m not complaining.” Draco leans in, his voice silky and low. “I like it when you beg.”
If She Ever Leaves Me (It Won’t Be For You) (Hermione Granger/Ginny Weasley), 500 words. I don’t know if I’ll ever finish this because my heart is already heavy, but I want so desperately to write this story about two fierce women falling in love and finding their way in a world where everything goes spectacularly to shit. In which a burgeoning and unexpected relationship changes families and friendships forever.
The Highway’s Jammed With Broken Heroes (James Potter/Sirius Black). 3,000 words. James and Sirius dream about going on a road trip and also fuck.
James looks tired, the shadowy room emphasising the darkness under his eyes. He pushes a hand through his hair and looks away from Sirius, facing the door. Some doors, once opened, can never be closed.
Sirius knows that better than anyone.
Main Projects (ORIGINAL FIC)
Story About A Girl. A novella about a queer girl in 1970s and 1980s Britain.
She stands shoulder-to-shoulder with all the other sun-shocked people who never knew a night can end so fast.
Various Flash. Various pieces of flash fiction which I am attempting to get published in lit mags. I’ve got a few pieces publishing between now and the end of Jan which I’ll share here next year once they’re all up.
I also have a PhD thesis, a book chapter and a conference paper to write too but ssssh let’s not talk about such things.
I’m going to tag @gracerene09 @shiftylinguini @candybarrnerd @silveredsound @ticklefightharry @ravenclawsquill and @nerdherderette and anyone else who cares to share!

Author Asks
I was tagged by @gracerene09 @candybarrnerd and @bigblckdog to answer this, thank you for the tags lovelies!!! I’ll also just take a minute to say my notifications re: tagging have not been consistently working so feel free to poke me if I’ve been tagged in anything and seem to be ignoring it.
Author Name: writcraft
Fandoms You Write For: Harry Potter, One Direction, Radio One RPF and Good Omens are the main ones at the moment. Although I currently only have one Good Omens fic, there will be more. Less consistently I have written in Sherlock, Supernatural, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Twin Peaks.
Where You Post: These days on AO3. I have some fics on LiveJournal and InsaneJournal that never made it onto AO3 and some small ficlets that I posted as tumblr only, but the majority of my stuff now goes on AO3.
Most Popular One-Shot: Dreaming of Harry (Drarry, Explicit, 11k).
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: My two Tomlinshaw fics Little Lion Man (Nick Grimshaw/Louis Tomlinson, Explicit, 123k) and Kissing in the Rain (Nick Grimshaw/Louis Tomlinson, Explicit, 93k) are the only two I’ve posted on a chapter by chapter basis. Of the two, Kissing in the Rain is the more popular by comments/kudos.
Favourite Story You Wrote: I change my mind about this a lot to be honest. There are stories I like for different reasons and it often depends on my mood. I would say that Little Compton Street (One Rainy Night in Soho) (Drarry, Explicit, 65k) and the whole Little Compton Street universe has a very special place in my heart, not just as a piece of writing, but because I’ve been able to explore periods of recent queer history that are important to me, music and a whole wide range of characters, ships and differing queer experiences through that ‘verse. I still have plans to conclude the series with a Ginny/Millicent fic over time, most likely next year now. I’m also really proud of How We Were Warriors (Snarry, Explicit, 51k) for similar reasons.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: I don’t think I’ve ever written a story that I haven’t been nervous to post! When you pour your heart into something and live and breathe a story for a long time, there’s always a nervous energy/excitement that comes with putting it out there in public. I was nervous about Independent Love Song (Ginny/Millicent, Explicit, 6k) because it was my first femslash for a while and I was thrilled with the response to it. I am also always nervous posting for the first time in a new fandom, so my first Good Omens fic, Like Lovers Do (Aziraphale/Crowley, Explicit, 3.6k) was super nerve-wracking.
How Do You Choose Your Titles: UGH I HATE. Some of my titles are so stupid, LOL. They’re often inspired by quotes, poems and song titles/lyrics. I always wobble over titles and they get changed a number of times over the course of writing a story.
Do You Outline: Sometimes, it totally depends. I often have a rough sketch in my head, but I don’t often do super detailed outlines unless I’m writing something really plotty. My most comprehensive outline was for Little Lion Man (Nick Grimshaw/Louis Tomlinson, Explicit, 123k) because I had plot points I  wanted to foreshadow or hit in different chapters and I wanted the chapters to be similar lengths, so I worked hard planning the story, to get the pacing right, to figure out ages of the characters, the magic forces at play, things like peoples boggarts, houses, wand cores and so on. A number of my longer fics have been planned to a point with key scenes set out, but I also sometimes just write and see where I end up...
Complete: 167 on AO3 but I’ve written more than that because I still have stuff I haven’t crossposted from the journals, so I’d say I’ve probably written closer to 200 fics.
In-Progress: Lots of WIPs that haven’t started posting yet, no incomplete fics on AO3, but some series’ (Losing His Religion (Drarry) and Little Compton Street (Various)) that I plan to update in due course.
Coming Soon/Not Yet Started: My @hd-erised is well underway but I can’t say anything about it unfortunately. I’m also writing for Secret Snarry Swap and @tomlinshawexchange so I have works in progress for both of those, but again I can’t say what. I’m toying with writing something Halloween-y or autumnal but I’m not sure what yet and I have looooooads of ideas I haven’t really started writing yet, including another Good Omens fic.
Do You Accept Prompts: I’m always happy to receive prompts and sometimes put calls out for them but I can never guarantee whether I’m going to write them or not. I’m really not great with super specific and detailed prompts, and work better with really broad brush ideas like word, song lyrics, themes and so on that I can use as a jumping off point.
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: I’m REALLY excited / nervous about my @hd-erised. I’m dying to say more but I will be good and resist. I’m loving writing it and feel really happy with the way it’s taking shape so far.
That was fun!!! I think a lot of people have been tagged in this already so if you care to do it, please consider yourself tagged and tag me in your reply so I can check it out <3
