Birthday Shenanigans! (Various Turtle x GN!Reader)

Today is June 21st, which means it’s mine and @scarletinkthelibrarian ’s birthday! 🥳

So, why not post a short scenario about what the turtles would do in celebrating their partners birthday!

No TW, just fluff! 😄

🎂Leonardo🎂

Leo is definitely treating your birthday in the most romantic way possible.

That man is treating you to a candlelit dinner on top of an abandoned building on the farthest side of town where his brothers couldn’t track him down and purposely left his phone at home so Donnie couldn’t track him down so that they could scope the date out.

Leonardo blindfolded you on your way up the fire escape, leading you up with his hands over yours, extending out in front of you, telling you when to step up.

Going up the final ladder pretty much gave the location away that you were on a rooftop, but you kept your mouth shut. You wanted to see what your turtle had in store for you.

Leo pulled the blindfold off of your eyes, revealing the candlelit dinner in front of you.

Lady and the Tramp style, your heart fluttered at the scene before you turned to Leo in awe.

He looked at you, looking for approval.

You threw your arms around his neck and smiled, “You’re the best! I love you so much!”

He returned the gesture, wrapping his arms around your waist and spoke.

“I love you too, now, let’s eat.”

You two ate the meal that Leo had made for you, unlike the spaghetti in L&TT— but it was still amazing!

And after dinner, Leo pulled out a small gift bag, handing it to you with a soft smile on his face.

“ You didn’t have to do that,” you stated softly, taking the bag from him. He only nodded his head towards the bag, signaling for you to open it.

Once you did, you pulled out a box with a necklace inside, on the necklace held a locket with a picture of the two of you on the inside.

“I fall more in love with you everyday, thank you, my love.”

“Happy birthday, my love.”

🥳Michaelangelo🥳

Walking into the lair, Mikey immediately greeted you with open and welcoming arms.

“Happy birthday, my precious angel!”

Your face brightened up with a smile as your partner hugged you, and you quickly returned the hug.

“Thank you, baby!” You replied, planting a kiss on his cheek.

“Of course, sweetcheeks,” Mikey grinned before releasing you from his grip.

You let go as well, but that didn’t stop the turtle from grabbing your hand and, as if his life depended on it, dragged you towards the kitchen.

Before you could tell him to chill out like before the bottoms of your shoes no longer existed he announced the decorated kitchen to you.

“Tada!” Mikey looked at you with an excited expression, flinging his arms up in the air.

You gazed around at the party decorations that covered the kitchen, streamers, confetti, balloons, you name it, it was there. You also noticed the cake and poorly wrapped gift box on the island, with two plates and two forks.

Looking back at Mikey, who now stared into your soul at you with puppy dog eyes, awaiting your response to what he thought was the BEST surprise ever, you gave him the biggest smile and thanked him.

“I absolutely LOVE it, M-Dawg! Did you decorate it?”

“Yes! I even baked you your favorite cake and I got you something!” Mikey exclaimed, walking over to the island and sitting down, you following behind.

You sat down beside him, watching as he poked candles into the cake to signal how old you were and lit them up, then slid the cake in front of you.

“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to my snookie wookie cookie gumdrop! Happy birthday to you!”

Mikey sang before you attempted to blow the candles out. They went out for a second before illuminating again. Blowing them out again, they relit a second them. One more time, and they sparked right back up.

You looked at Mikey with confusion, who busted out laughing, “Gotcha! You got fooled with trick candles!”

“Oh you butthead!” You exclaimed, smacking him on the arm with a smile on your face.

Doing away with the danged candles, you finally got to enjoy the cake with your partner.

Mikey pretty much swallowed his entire piece, and once he saw that you were done with yours, he nonchalantly slid the box over to you.

“Nothing is going to jump out at me, right?” You asked.

“No babe, I swear,” Mikey smiled, genuinely.

“Okay, I’m trusting you,” you replied, ripping the paper off of the box and opening it.

Inside was a stuffed turtle, like you would see at Build-A-Bear. Although, this one was clearly special as it had a makeshift orange mask around it’s face that closely resembled Mikey’s mask. You pulled the stuffed animal out of the box and hugged it before looking at your partner.

“I love it, Mikey!” You exclaimed, placing the stuffed animal to the side before tackling the turtle in a tight hug.

He giggled before returning the hug. “Good! Happy birthday, babylove!”

🎈Raphael🎈

“Ralphie, where are you taking me?” You asked, being guided by Raph’s larger hands in front of your eyes.

He had covered them at a point of the two of your guy’s trip through the city, and had been pretty silent since.

The sounds of the ocean didn��t help with the fact that you couldn’t see.

“Come on! You’re killing me!” You begged, struggling to walk at this point, feeling Raph guide guide you now with one hand, while he used his other to cover both of your eyes.

“You’ll see.”

“Are you planning to kill me? Is that it?” You asked, earning a small chuckle from him— but yet, still no answer.

“Oh my god, you are,” you stated dramatically.

“Alright now,” Raphael speaks, you can hear the smile on his face.

Eventually, he uncovers your eyes, revealing a hidden cove of sorts alongside the ocean. On the sand lays a blanket, to which Raph gladly guided you over to.

Laying down on the blanket gives the two of you the perfect view of the star written sky above, and you can’t help but feel all of the butterflies in your tummy.

Tonight will forever been etched in your memory.

You laid there, curled up next to the turtle and watched the starry sky above. You were in awe on how he could’ve chosen such a perfect activity— how he knew the sky would be clear and beautiful like this.

“I think I fall more and more in love with you everyday, Ralphie,” you spoke softly, gazing away from the sky above to look at the turtle.

He was running his fingers through your hair, or caressing your skin, and his eyes had never seemed to have left you.

“Yeah, sure,” he spoke, giving you a soft smile, “I love you, too.”

A comfortable silence fell between the two of you before he perked up, sitting up and moving you off of him as he walked towards the back of the cove.

You looked back, confused, at what the turtle was doing.

Whenever he returned, he was holding a gift bag. You rolled your eyes, “You didn’t have to get me anything! This is more than enough just to spend time with you!”

“Uh huh, open it,” he demanded, extending his arm out with the gift bag.

You went quiet and took the gift, pushing the paper aside and pulling out the the present.

It was a framed drawing of you that Raphael had drawn, with his signature below. Beside your figure was an extremely short love message.

My heart is and will always be yours. Raphael.

Your jaw dropped as you gazed over the drawing.

Holy fu—

“Thank you, Raphael, I love it,” you replied, smiling like crazy at the photo before looking at him and giving him a big ole kiss.

“Glad you do. Happy birthday, dear.”

🎉Donatello🎉

Nervous?

Oh yuh, this turtle is nervous.

In fact, you had asked him if he was okay earlier that day when you had stopped by at the thought of spending that afternoon together in celebration for your birthday. He was sweating buckets, chattering teeth, the whole shabang.

It’s only because it was your first time celebrating your birthday and Donnie INSISTED on planning something for you— to which he did. Yet, he was nervous that you wouldn’t like what he had planned.

You had showed up on time, like you said you would, and he was floored at how good you looked.

“Ready to go, yeah?” You asked, a smile on your face as the turtle nodded.

“Y-Yeah! We don’t want to be late!” Donnie replied as he walked up to you, nervously slipping his hand in with yours and guiding you out of the lair.

You followed, and luckily you were able to make conversation with Donnie that brought him out of his nervous state.

Once the two of you reached your destination, he told you to meet him on the rooftop because it was a tall building.

Making it to the rooftop, Donnie showed you what the surprise was.

Directly below was the concert to your absolute most favorite band of all time, you couldn’t believe you eyes.

“There’s no way,” you mumbled, looking between the concert and Donnie— who looked at you with nervous eyes.

“You’re the best! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” You exclaimed with excitement written all over your face, reaching up and entangling the turtle in a big hug.

He smiled, a sigh of relief escaping his throat as he wrapped his arms around you.

“You’re welcome, darling,” he replied.

Watching the concert with glee, Donnie would ask questions here and there about a song name or what a song meant, more and less wanting to see you excitedly tell him about the band you love so much.

Then, once it ended and the two of you were back at the lair, he surprised you with a gift.

You looked at it and then back at him, taking it, and opening it front of him.

He played with his hands, anxiety building as he watched you open the gift.

Once you pulled it out and looked at it, examining what it was.

Inside was a carefully crafted wooden music box that Donnie had made himself, patterned with designs of that of a turtle shell. Opening it, on the inside of the lid had a border of the same designs, while the middle had a love note written by Donatello.

I will love you like there’s no tomorrow until I breathe my last.

Donatello.

When winding the music box up, your favorite song from the band you just saw in person plays, and you can’t help but gush over the gift.

“Did you make this?”

“I did.”

“I absolutely adore it, Dondon.”

He blushes at the new nickname.

“Thank you, darling.”

So… If you made it, does that mean that you’re good with your hands?”

“Happy birthday, you dingus.”

“Hey! I had to ask!”

The Mr. Darcy Standard

Every night, my friends and I spend a good amount of time discussing numerous topics. One of our top conversations last night still lingers in my head. The topic of standards. Growing up on romantic movies like Pride and Prejudice has lifted the bar. Men don’t act like they did in the early 2000s films. They don't chase you around New York begging for your attention. They don't fall in love with you so hard that they have to outburst their feelings in the rain because their love has become too overpowering. It's so disappointing how through time women have had to lower their standards to achieve the most average men.

You're telling me Noah built Allie a house after not seeing her for years, wrote her a letter every day for a year, and waited for her, but my first date was walking to Jack in the Box and the liquor store. I'm not asking for the world, I'm just asking for a decent feeling of actual attraction to males. I know how annoying it is to get the ick for every man. As Snookie said, “Guys are douchebags and I hate them all, they don't know how to deal with women, and that's why the lesbian rate is going up in this country.” I feel as though real love is only constructed by intellectual people, and how many intellectual men are left in the world?

I just want to feel wanted and yearned for. That may be corny but EVERYTHING is painted as corny nowadays. Maybe that's the reason it's so hard for men to be romantic. They probably fear embarrassment but maybe it'll be less embarrassing when you're really really in love. Sometimes I feel as if I'm the issue. Maybe my standards are too high but I fully believe that if someone like Nicholas Sparks can write ‘The Notebook’, then not all hope is lost.

I want the old timey type of love that feels as if it could last forever. I would gladly take what Mr. Big and Carrie had because even though they fought a lot, there was still genuine love there. I genuinely tear up thinking about the possibility of me being alone or even worse feeling alone. Growing up with nothing but toxic relationships as a guide for love, I now just want to know if it's real. I’m tired of boys, bring the men in.

I always try to see from a man’s point of view but I refuse to put myself in incompetent shoes. If The Notebook is unrealistic and I'll never achieve that level of love, even without the house, without the rain, without the letters, and without the book, I’m just talking about their love. Is that so unrealistic? Is love dead? I don’t care if this is corny because this topic spirals through my head constantly. I wonder if I'm wasting time. Will I ever love someone that deeply? I’m not desperate for just anyone. I'm desperate for that feeling, that's why I never have deep connections with men. Because why am I going to waste time with something I don’t deserve. I deserve to be wanted and pursued, but more than that I deserve the mixture of simplicity and complexity that comes with loving someone. Maybe I am desperate, let’s hope my longing will help me in the long haul.

This is just my personal diary and my personal manifestation book where I allow myself to have opinions and allow others to either agree or disagree. So I'll end this by asking if there are any real Mr. Darcy’s and Mr. Bigs out there. I'm not asking for the exact love they had, I'm just asking for their desperation and most importantly their intimacy. Complex and in love. I'll update if I ever get this lol or maybe i'm just delusional.

Jersey Shore S1

Episode 5: "Just Another Day At The Shore"

So, it's the aftermath of Snooki getting punched. The guy is RIGHTFULLY arrested - the girls pick Snooki up and get her together.

What's interesting is everyone is rallying around her except Mike - he's creeping, and everyone has noticed.

They're less than pleased.

Ronnie blames Mike for the punch because he was buying the jackasses shots - I'm kinda torn about that. He's the most disgusted by Mike by a long mile...I don't know if it's really all about Snooki.

After all, this is his former rival...

So, morning comes and Ronnie's parents are here. Sammie keeps them waiting for at least 30 mins but she wants to make a good impression - make it make sense.

Ron actually says his mom is being rude for pointing out that Sam is keeping them waiting. The way he talks to her is so crazy tbh...just very rude for no reason.

This is the 4th girl to meet his family and he's like 23?? That seems crazy to me but that might just be me 😂

This is the real start of Snooki and JWoww, she takes out recovering patient out for some drinks and they have a blast. I love these two and will likely cover their spin off as well so just know I'm biased.

The girls have a bit of a spa day after this which is also pretty cute tbh.

I love the Sunday Family dinners too, I am a total sucker for that kinda stuff. What I don't like is how upset Mike is about the girls not helping even though the guys are helping him.

Weird control shit.

Mike starts just calling up all the girls numbers he knows, phishing to see which one is willing to be his date for the night. Seems kinda sad to me, why are you always looking for girls??

It's cringe.

Seeing the think eyebrows is such a throwback though 😂

I just noticed that Snooki is wearing blue contacts which is also such a throwback to that era.

Mike's date stands him up which is so necessary for his ridiculous ego.

Tommy sends JWoww a bouquet of blue roses and I have to agree with the boys - he's simping hard. You're rewarding her for cheating.

We finally get to see Pauly do his thing, DJing at Karma and idk if he's good or what but I mean - he's still going so must be good enough.

Of course, Ron and Sam leave early without telling anyone.

21 year old Vinny hitting on an older woman. Like definitely at least 26/27?? And on their way home, he realizes he's just sniped Danny's girl. That doesn't stop him from making out with her though.

Daily routine (hard)

I wake up at 5:30 am, eat a bowl of generic brand cereal with 2%, go to the nearest 24/7 tanning salon (fake if i want to look orange today, real if i want to have cancer when im 40ntoday). I go to the grocery store to get my usual daily needs (snacks & other ephermera). I do my simple 2000s trashy snooki inspired makeup and spray hairspray inside my mouth so my sucked in stomach can keeps it's shape (it never works but i still try + i love the flavour). I get dressed in my nirvana tee and a next season plaid Vivienne Westwood Skirt with a pair of cute thrifted St. Laurent boots. Then i walk towards the bus station. I get on the bus with the most amount of people inside so more people can see how good i look today (and everyday). I usually use my wired earphones to listen to inspirational music to get me ready for school (the parappa soundtrack or notorious k.i.m by lil kim). I met up with my two male egg friends and all the girls who think they're my friend but they rlly aren't🙄. I usually write down whatever i can off the board for like 3 hours before excusing myself and leaving halfway through the day. While walking away i write the most horrible hot take on twitter so i can get the twitter blue money. I arrive at the nearest gaming themed bar that doesn't card and sneak in 2-3 tequila shots to get me ready for the rest of my day. I arrive home and go right into a warm bath in my beach themed bathroom. I put on a pair of flamingo sunglasses and a whimsical straw hat as i pretend im in hawaii. I dry myself using 5 hair dryers then I go to my walk-in closet and dress in a baggy t-shirts and jeans combo and hide a messy bun under a ball cap. I have sucessfully disguised myself as a twink. I arrive back at school just in time for the last period of the day (i moonlight as a male exchange student named Kevin Kiernan, who they don't even suspect as me bc im such a genius of taking an american accent). I finish school and take a ride to the mall from the rich mean girl who's totally into me.i eat my lunch (taco bell or del taco) with her, stop at mcdonalds for a quick promoshoot (i am the face of mcdonalds cosmetics) then i go to the paid Mall gym to exercise for 1 hour. I walk home and go to bed (it's 3:30 PM). I wake up at 5:30, do my homework then spend the rest on my day watching 1990s-2000s rom coms or pre-code dramas until 8:00, then i start a twitch stream and just ramble for 2 hours while scrolling tumblr to my 10k or so viewers. I brush my teeth and do my skin are routine. I go to sleep at 10:00 exactly, if i can't i'll go at 11:00.

Louie Bellson (born Luigi Paolino Alfredo Francesco Antonio Balassoni, July 6, 1924 – February 14, 2009), often seen in sources as Louis Bellson, although he himself preferred the spelling Louie, was an American jazz drummer. He was a composer, arranger, bandleader, and jazz educator, and is credited with pioneering the use of two bass drums.[1]

Bellson performed in most of the major capitals around the world. Bellson and his wife, actress and singer Pearl Bailey[2] (married from 1952 until Bailey's death in 1990), had the second highest number of appearances at the White House (only Bob Hope had more).

Bellson was a vice president at Remo, a drum company.[3] He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1985

Bellson was born in Rock Falls, Illinois, in 1924, where his father owned a music store. He started playing drums at three years of age. While still a young child, Bellson's father moved the family and music store to Moline, Illinois.[5] At 15, he pioneered using two bass drums at the same time, a technique he invented in his high school art class.[6] At age 17, he triumphed over 40,000 drummers to win the Slingerland National Gene Krupa contest.[7]

After graduating from Moline High School in 1942, he worked with big bands throughout the 1940s, with Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, and Duke Ellington. In 1952, he married jazz singer Pearl Bailey. During the 1950s, he played with the Dorsey Brothers, Jazz at the Philharmonic, acted as Bailey's music director, and recorded as a leader for Norgran Records and Verve Records.[8]

Over the years, his sidemen included Ray Brown, Pete and Conte Candoli, Chuck Findley, John Heard, Roger Ingram, Don Menza, Blue Mitchell, Larry Novak, Nat Pierce, Frank Rosolino, Bobby Shew, Clark Terry, and Snooky Young.

In an interview in 2005 with Jazz Connection magazine, he cited as influences Jo Jones, Sid Catlett, and Chick Webb. "I have to give just dues to two guys who really got me off on the drums – Big Sid Catlett and Jo Jones. They were my influences. All three of us realized what Jo Jones did and it influenced a lot of us. We all three looked to Jo as the 'Papa' who really did it. Gene helped bring the drums to the foreground as a solo instrument. Buddy was a great natural player. But we also have to look back at Chick Webb's contributions, too."[9]

During the 1960s, he returned to Ellington's orchestra for Emancipation Proclamation Centennial stage production, My People in and for A Concert of Sacred Music, which is sometimes called The First Sacred Concert. Ellington called these concerts "the most important thing I have ever done."[10]

Bellson's album The Sacred Music of Louie Bellson and the Jazz Ballet appeared in 2006. In May 2009, Francine Bellson told The Jazz Joy and Roy syndicated radio show, "I like to call (Sacred) 'how the Master used two maestros,'" adding, "When (Ellington) did his sacred concert back in 1965 with Louie on drums, he told Louie that the sacred concerts were based on 'in-the-beginning,' the first three words of the bible." She recalled how Ellington explained to Louie that "in the beginning there was lightning and thunder and that's you!" Ellington exclaimed, pointing out that Louie's drums were the thunder. Both Ellington and Louie, says Mrs. Bellson, were deeply religious. "Ellington told Louie, 'You ought to do a sacred concert of your own' and so it was," said Bellson, adding, "'The Sacred Music of Louie Bellson' combines symphony, big band and choir, while 'The Jazz Ballet' is based on the vows of Holy Matrimony..."

On December 5, 1971, he took part in a memorial concert at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall for drummer Frank King. This tribute show also featured Buddy Rich and British drummer Kenny Clare. The orchestra was led by Irish trombonist Bobby Lamb and American trombonist Raymond Premru. A few years later, Rich (often called the world's greatest drummer) paid Bellson a compliment by asking him to lead his band on tour while he (Rich) was temporarily disabled by a back injury. Bellson accepted.

As a prolific creator of music, both written and improvised, his compositions and arrangements (in the hundreds) embrace jazz, jazz/rock/fusion, romantic orchestral suites, symphonic works and a ballet. Bellson was also a poet and a lyricist. His only Broadway venture, Portofino (1958), was a resounding flop that closed after three performances.[13]

As an author, he published more than a dozen books on drums and percussion. He was at work with his biographer on a book chronicling his career and bearing the same name as one of his compositions, "Skin Deep". In addition, "The London Suite" (recorded on his album Louie in London) was performed at the Hollywood Pilgrimage Bowl before a record-breaking audience. The three-part work includes a choral section in which a 12-voice choir sings lyrics penned by Bellson. Part One is the band's rousing "Carnaby Street", a collaboration with Jack Hayes.[14]

In 1987, at the Percussive Arts Society convention in Washington, D.C., Bellson and Harold Farberman performed a major orchestral work titled "Concerto for Jazz Drummer and Full Orchestra", the first piece ever written specifically for jazz drummer and full symphony orchestra. This work was recorded by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in England, and was released by the Swedish label BIS.

Bellson was known throughout his career to conduct drum and band clinics at high schools, colleges and music stores.[16]

Bellson maintained a tight schedule of clinics and performances of both big bands and small bands in colleges, clubs and concert halls. In between, he continued to record and compose, resulting in more than 100 albums and more than 300 compositions. Bellson's Telarc debut recording, Louie Bellson And His Big Band: Live From New York, was released in June 1994. He also created new drum technology for Remo, of which he was vice-president.[17]

Bellson received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in 1985 at Northern Illinois University. As of 2005, among other performing activities, Bellson had visited his home town of Rock Falls, Illinois, every July for Louie Bellson Heritage Days, a weekend in his honor close to his July 6 birthday, with receptions, music clinics and other performances by Bellson.[1] At the 2004 event celebrating his 80th birthday, Bellson said, "I'm not that old; I'm 40 in this leg, and 40 in the other leg."[18] He celebrated his birthday every year at the River Music Experience in Davenport, Iowa.

Bellson was voted into the Halls of Fame for Modern Drummer magazine, in 1985, and the Percussive Arts Society, in 1978. Yale University named him a Duke Ellington Fellow in 1977. He received an honorary Doctorate from Northern Illinois University in 1985. He performed his original concert – Tomus I, II, III – with the Washington Civic Symphony in historic Constitution Hall in 1993. A combination of full symphony orchestra, big-band ensemble and 80-voice choir, "Tomus" was a collaboration of music by Bellson and lyrics by his late wife, Pearl Bailey. Bellson was a nine-time Grammy Award nominee.[19]

In January 1994, Bellson received the NEA Jazz Masters Award from the National Endowment for the Arts.[20] As one of three recipients, he was lauded by NEA chair Jane Alexander, who said, "These colossal talents have helped write the history of jazz in America."

On November 19, 1952, Bellson married American actress and singer, Pearl Bailey, in London. Bellson and Bailey adopted a son, Tony, in the mid-1950s, and a daughter, Dee Dee (born April 20, 1960).[22] Tony Bellson died in 2004, and Dee Dee Bellson died on July 4, 2009, at age 49, within five months of her father. After Bailey's death in 1990, Bellson married Francine Wright in September 1992.[23]

Wright, who had trained as a physicist and engineer at MIT,[24] became his manager. The union lasted until his death in 2009.[25]

On February 14, 2009, Bellson died at age 84 from complications of a broken hip suffered in December 2008 and Parkinson's disease. He is buried next to his father in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, Illinois.
