GOT7 AS: Doctors

Just some cute bullet points about what GOT7 would be like as doctors. I know almost nothing about doctors and medicine so take it easy on me with the factual accuracy.

Mark: Emergency Medicine

Mark is the stone-faced doctor who is head of the ER.

Despite the fact that the Emergency ward is always filled with people panicking, with life-or-death cases and horrifying situations, Mark always maintains a straight and calm face through it all. His ability to stay calm and composed and make rational decisions even when patients are bleeding to their death is what makes him the best Emergency medicine doctor.

He is very sweet and calm when not on duty, but his eyes flash with anger whenever one of the junior doctors get flustered while handling a patient.

Panicking at the Emergency room is unforgivable. A cool and rational decision could be the difference between someone’s life and death. Mark Tuan makes sure to drill that into every single doctor and resident that works underneath him.

But sometimes, when he has to declare a person dead and there’s nothing they can do to save them, Mark takes a moment to go into the other room and cry for a little bit. You were a junior doctor and you spotted him kneeling on the floor and crying in the on-call room one day, after a number of patients were brought in dead after a construction accident.

You realized that Dr. Mark Tuan wasn’t emotionless. He just bottled up his emotions until he had a convenient moment to release them. He was afraid that they would interfere with his work if he let them overwhelm him while he was handling the patient.

Some of the other interns and junior doctors were scared of Dr. Tuan, but he was actually quite shy and sweet. He once blushed when you brought him a coffee one morning and thanked you in a soft, shy voice. He brought you a coffee the next day in return.

You had also seen him playing with a small child when her mother was taken into the emergency room. She had been crying but Dr. Tuan let her play with her stethoscope and laughed when the large instrument wouldn’t fit properly into the toddler’s ears.

One of the nurses once told you that there Mark Tuan’s laugh was probably one of the wonders of the world. You couldn’t look at it for too long because it would dazzle you. He was probably the most popular doctor among all the female staff at the hospital because of his handsome looks.

It was really hard to find him if he wasn’t on duty, though. Dr. Tuan seemed to vanish out of thin air whenever he wasn’t on a shift and you had once spotted him practically racing to get home after he’d worked two shifts in a row.

But he worked hard, so you supposed he deserved it.

Jaebum: Neurosurgery

Dr. Im Jaebum is one of the most well-known doctors in the hospital. He’s won awards for his research in neurology and his picture is even put up in the lobby because he’s the most recommended neurosurgeon in the city.

You don’t talk to Im Jaebum before a surgery. When he’s putting his scrubs on and preparing to go into the operation theater, even a tiny unwarranted giggle from an intern will cause him to go ballistic. He once grabbed a junior doctor by the collar after surgery because the man misidentified a surgical instrument and almost handed him the wrong one. Nobody messes with Im Jaebum’s surgery.

Even though Dr. Im pretends to be extremely cold and professional, he lives for those successful surgeries when the families come to him later with tears in their eyes and thank him for saving the patient’s life. No matter how busy he is, Jaebum always takes out time to meet the patient’s family and explain exactly how the surgery is going to go/has gone.

It reminds him why he’s in this profession and it reassures him that he’s doing some good in this world.

Jaebum sometimes takes the junior doctors and interns out for drinks if they’ve worked hard and had a successful surgery. He seems a little gruff but he makes sure to give compliments just as often as he gives scoldings.

You often assisted during Jaebum’s surgeries and you thought he was extremely famous for his steady hands and steady gaze. But you once saw him turn white when he saw a little infant boy lying on the surgery table. Jaebum’s hands trembled for a little bit and he had to step out of the room for a few seconds but he returned looking calm and composed.

He is always a little bit softer with his female colleagues and it sometimes makes the male doctors in the Neurology department angry. But none of them have the guts to say anything to him about it.

Jaebum is also on the hospital’s Board. He attends meetings religiously and makes sure that all the departments are getting enough funds. He has a soft spot for Dr. Choi Youngjae, so somehow the OB-GYN department ends up with the most budget every year.

Jackson: Physical Therapy

Dr. Jackson Wang specializes in physical therapy and chronic pain.

He has a bunch of weird-looking machines and devices in his office including this enormous rubber ball. Nobody knows what all those devices are for. Even Jackson isn’t entirely sure. They’re rarely used because he mostly just recommends Pilates and yoga for common problems.

Always greets his patients with an enormous smile and asks them a bunch of random questions about their lives and day before he starts talking about their pain or what they need treatment for. You were one of his regular patients because you suffered from chronic pain due to a spinal injury some years back and Jackson always remembers his patients. Every single one.

Jackson gets a lot of old people complaining about body pains and he’s always extra sweet and smiley with them. You had once spotted an old lady who admitted to her friend that her pain wasn’t even that bad anymore, but she liked coming down to the hospital for treatment because of the ‘cute, sweet young doctor’.

A lot of his patients are sports-persons. Jackson wanted to play sports professionally once and he’s a complete fanboy, so he makes sure to take all their autographs and frames them so he can hang them up in a small corner of his office. That collection of autographs is his most prized possession.

Insists on his department being painted bright colors. It’s even more colorful than the pediatric wing.

Lives for the days when he gets children as patients. It’s not very often and Jackson is often bothering Dr. Kim Yugyeom of the Pediatric department to refer more children to physical therapy. But the one time Yugyeom did refer a little boy who had been in an accident and had his legs partially paralyzed, Jackson almost cried.

Gets a little bit hurt when people tell him he’s ‘not a real doctor’ but always forces a smile and tries not to get too angry about it.

Once an extremely rude patient called him a ‘massage therapist’ and Jackson smiled before calmly reminding him that he knew exactly which part of the patient’s body to press to make him pass out while screaming in pain.

The patient never came back for another appointment after that.

Jinyoung: Psychiatry

He’s the Departmental head of what most people call the “crazy” ward.

If you use the words crazy, retarded or anything else inappropriate around Dr. Park Jinyoung, be prepared to be kicked out of the hospital. He once fired a nurse from his department for referring to a difficult patient as ‘bat-shit’.

He likes to remind his staff that they never know when they might find themselves on the other side of the glass wall.

It’s a little bit scary because he has an almost psychotic glint in his eyes as he says it.

Dr. Jinyoung is extremely kind and understanding with his patients, and they all love him. But he can’t stand seeing parents and family who are ashamed of being found in the psychiatry ward. Once screamed at a mother who admitted that she was embarrassed of her daughter’s mental illness and wanted to take her home from the hospital.

His office is full of books on psychology. If he’s not dealing with a patient then he can be found reading in his office.

Has a slightly perverse interest in criminal psychology which also scares his staff a little bit sometimes. Jinyoung gets excited whenever he’s called in to evaluate the mental condition of a criminal, or a serial killer or something of the sort but you notice that he always looks miserable and exhausted and sort of... sad, when he returns from the evaluation.

He once admitted to you quietly that he doesn’t have a lot of faith left in humanity.

Keeps sending Dr. Kim Yugyeom reminders to come in for a psychiatric evaluation and once half-seriously diagnosed him with a mental age of 4 and a half. Dr. Yugyeom knows better than to come anywhere near the psychiatry ward.

Youngjae: Obstetrics/Gynecology

There are two beautiful sounds that one hears in the OB/GYN department.

The first is the sound of a newborn baby crying, and the second is the sound of Dr. Choi Youngjae’s laughter. Often, the two sounds can be heard simultaneously and then it’s like music to the ears.

Dr. Choi isn’t entirely sure how or why he ended up becoming an obstetrician, but he helped deliver a neighbor’s fourth child when he was still in medical school and the woman had told him that out of all the deliveries she’d had, he was the best doctor. Also, nothing made Youngjae happier than seeing new life come into this world.

He can sometimes be seen sneaking into the neo-natal unit after his shift is over and cooing at the adorable babies in their tiny little beds. You had caught him doing that once and he had blushed and tried to look professional as he walked away, but he admitted to you later that it made him feel less stressed to just look at the adorable babies.

He mainly specializes in pregnancy and childbirth but he sometimes has to deal with the ordinary gynecology department if no other doctors are available.

Once had to explain to a 13-year old girl what a period was and he got so flustered and embarrassed that he decided to stay away from ordinary gynecology and stick to the obstetrics departments where he could deal with pregnant women who thought he was adorable.

You noticed that he became extremely sad and withdrawn on the days when single mothers admitted to him that they wanted an abortion. Youngjae rarely tried to talk them out of it unless it was dangerous to their health but he told you that it made him sad. He never performs abortion procedures himself.

You once overheard a pregnant woman telling you that she had seen Youngjae’s smiling face after she’d had a c-section and since she hadn’t recovered from the anesthesia, actually thought that she was looking at a real angel.

Bambam: Ophthalmology

Specializes in illnesses and diseases relating to the eye and vision.

Tells every single female patient without exception that she has beautiful eyes in order to see whether she blushes. Sometimes even says it to the men just because.

“On a scale of one to ten, how handsome am I? Seven? Oh dear, you do need some serious treatment. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to see my devastating good looks with perfect clarity once I’m done with you.”

He’s designed his own version of the eye chart that he keeps in his office. They seem like ordinary alphabets but they actually spell out ‘Bambam is a prince’ if you read them all together. Once a Board member came by his department for inspection and forced him to take it down and replace it with the standard chart.

His department doesn’t get a lot of funds even though Bambam brings in huge money by performing lasik and other laser eye refractive surgeries. They’re cosmetic surgeries so they are extremely pricey. He likes knowing that he brings in some of the biggest money to the hospital.

Dr. Bambam can often be found pestering Dr. Im Jaebum in the cafeteria to help him get more funds for his department so that he can buy the latest technology.

Gets a lot of old people as patients, who have cataract issues and the like. Most people have to wear dark glasses after their eye surgery and Bambam only gives out really stylish ones with leopard-print designs on the frame. If you want ordinary ones they you have to spend extra money and go buy them from a pharmacy.

Is extremely chill with his colleagues and buys them all drinks when they don’t have any surgeries scheduled the next day. Once turned up to work completely hungover and wearing dark glasses so he was mistaken for a patient.

Yugyeom: Pediatrics

Dr. Kim Yugyeom is one of the best pediatricians in the city and delivers excellent results, but he can somehow never get the kids to like him. Dr. Jinyoung has a psychological theory that children have a tendency to identify Yugyeom as one of their own, which is why they don’t submit to his authority.

Dr. Jinyoung has since been banned from the pediatric ward.

People think the stuffed bear collection he keeps in his office is for the little kids to play with, but he secretly actually really likes collecting the stuffed bears and had to control his anger when a little boy ripped one of them apart once. He smiled and pretended to be fine but then told the nurse at reception to transfer the kid to a different doctor for his next appointment.

Nobody messes with Yugyeom’s bears.

He’s extremely smiley and friendly with patients and their parents. Dr. Kim Yugyeom is particularly popular with the single mothers because he’s so handsome and he always greets them with big, welcoming smiles. Some of them like to think he’s flirting with them but he just behaves like that with everyone. He tries to be polite about not giving out his personal number after one particularly lonely single mother once tried to sext him on the pretense of asking about her child’s health.

Yugyeom once had to reprimand a nurse for handling a child too roughly, but he couldn’t do it. He ended up calling in Dr, Im Jaebum to help him and the nurse somehow got fired. He still feels bad about it.

Most people think that Yugyeom is extremely innocent and harmless but the truth is, he’s most likely to be found clubbing with Dr. Bambam on weekends. The two of them like to pick up women at clubs by telling them that they’re doctors. It works like a miracle.

A/N: so so so, it's quite never-wracking publishing something here because i don't have a clue how AO3 works, but I’ll have my chances here on Tumblr. As you can see with the gif, this is a toshinori yagi x exotic dancer!reader.... Yeah, i don't know what i was thinking, so please enjoy.

“Where the fuck it’s my bra?”

It was quite fun to observe the antics of your companions through the reflection of your illuminated mirror, you had already seen this before and these moments always happened when the girls were clearly stressed out of not having enough time to take care of themselves before hitting the stage. A fond smile spread your unfinished lips, you wanted to take a few seconds to be able to snicker at them, women trotting around half naked with high heels and since the dressing rooms were a bit cramped, there are probabilities someone will bump with another person.

With a slight sigh, you returned to the task of painting your lips with this deep carmine, which made your skin stand out beautifully. It’s to be expected that anxiety and nerves ate away your stomach. Millions of times you've done your acting on stage, the confidence you felt every time the audience burst into applause, pride bubbled at the expertise you had every time you spin with the metal tube.

‘Why me?’

Of all the places, Toshinori never thought or imagined he would be forming in a line to enter a Strip club. Don’t get him wrong, a part of him was actually happy that at least his colleagues involved him in their activities, it made him feel less old but there were some comments that gnawed his mind when Midnight invited along with an excited Mic, even the duo had thought about inviting their old friend with deep eye bags but Aizawa had rejected the invitation with a death glare.

‘You need to get out of that apartment, All might-san! It’s not healthy for you.’

‘YEAH! We get it that you are number one hero but even you deserve a break!’

He cannot take breaks! Toshinori devoted himself that he would do everything in his power to be the symbol of peace for the world. It doesn’t matter if he reaches the limit of his quirk, if he has a way to help in any kind of way, he would do it. And that has caused him so many sacrifices, his organs were hanging by a thread if he wasn’t careful with his food, he depended on pills and you better believe this tall lanky man has some self-doubt issues about himself.

Toshinori was welcomed by the soft pink and purple lights, it was large but with many people occupying the tables and dancers attending to customers, it felt a bit crowded. And immediately his eyes stuck to the ground, perplexed to the type of clothing the women were wearing but what was he expecting? This was a stripper club after all!

“All-Might san!” Midnight had to stand on her tiptoes and raise her voice a bit, due to the blasting music. “Can you get the drinks? Yamada and I’ve to find a good spot, okay?”

He appreciated his friends but Toshinori was sure they’ll be the cause of his death. Before he could protest, Nemuri walked away, chasing after a Hizashi who was being cornered by a pair of twins wearing student outfits. The bar wasn’t difficult to locate, it took most of the place with a bar that emitted a purple light. Toshinori notices it was a bit empty, some people at the end of the bar drinking or talking to one of the girls.

With hurried steps he went to the bar, avoiding physical contact with anyone or contact visual, keeping his eyes on the bar and trying not glanced at the revealing clothes from the woman. If his memory didn’t fail him, usually Hizashi would drink beer and Nemuri would like tequila and as for him? Water can be an option, or perhaps he could use the advice from Midnight.

With a polite smile, he asked the bartender for drinks and watched the dark-skinned man use his hair to take the bottles and glasses, which Toshinori noticed were actually tentacles like an octopus, pale in lilac tones. The blonde waited, crossing his arms over the bar and sighed to calm those nerves, hoping this adventure would end soon.

He’d mentioned before the bar was half empty because most of the people were busy enjoying themselves and the women were taking the drinks to the tables, what a weird services Toshinori thought but his attention was drawn to this figure sitting on top of the table bar, slouching over while drinking.

It was another dancer but they didn’t seem to participate like the other women, Toshinori crossed the idea of them being a customer by their choices of clothing. He returned his attention when the bartender returned with the drinks, Toshinori still hasn’t asked something for himself so he wondered if this place would have juice?

A rattle noise distracted him, Toshinori observed as one of the locks (tentacles?) from the man stretched out just to give the girl a small object and the blond recognized him. The blonde man was well aware of possible drugs being taken here, and probably this place has a permit but Toshinori wasn’t interested in that, he didn’t want to be intrusive and didn’t want to cause a scene but his hero conscience shouted at him to stop them, to avoid a tragedy about someone who died due to an overdose.

Meddling when you don’t need to is the essence of a hero.

It only took him two strides to be at their side and land one of his bony hands on top of theirs, stopping them before they can open the bottle.

“Please, don’t do it.”

By "come outside with us" it actually meant: sit on the bar and observed how everyone was working, but at least you got a tip for doing a lap dance to a group of college students, you enjoyed how the shy boy was a wrecking laughter by your performance. Clearly obvious it was his first time visiting the cherry pop. You loved this kind of reactions, pride swelled your chest to see that you did a good job of bringing them joy in their night.

The drink you were holding was a combination made from Lulu, something to get you in the mood, vodka with some sprite. Simple but you already felt the heat in your body rise a little but not enough to get dizzy. Slumping your shoulders as you heaved a sigh, you already felt this night was going to be long but you soothed your impatience with the fact that you only had to wait thirty minutes to start with your act.

The rattling noise by your ear brought your attention and without looking you took the small bottle from Lulu's slimy tentacle, you were grateful the barman kept your candy hidden, there were many times you had a little craving but you avoid the food, vomiting while performing is something you don’t wish to experience. Putting your drink away so you can have your hands free, why did you put your skittles in a medicine bottle? You always promise to bring a more suitable container but you always forget it.

With the drink affecting your temperature, it also affected your reflexes because you would’ve flinched by the intrusive hand that invaded your sight but you didn’t. You blinked twice owlishly, your eyes followed the long arm until they connected to these sunken eyes with cerulean irises.

He was tall and you didn’t want to exaggerate but you were sitting at the bar, and it was high, this man wasn’t tilting his head up to look at you, his head was slightly leaning down to look at you!

That’s how tall he is.

You knew his hair was blond despite the lack of light and was rebellious, it reminded you like the mane of a lion. And his sharp features, they were accentuated by the bangs on the sides of his face. You've met millions of people with different appearances but him? He was the first one to leave you with a gaping mouth but now you were wondering why he stopped you from eating your sweets.

Maybe he wanted too? Your eyebrows pinched with confusion by the choice of his words, what does he mean “don’t do it”?

And Toshinori noticed it, the confusion filling your features and your eyes shifted between his hands and face.

Oh right, he has to explain why he stopped you.

“Please don’t do this yourself.” Toshinori began, removing his right hand. “You think have no way to escape but there is one and I don’t think to damage your body own is the answer.” Toshinori hoped his words would have got an effect on you, to make you reflect on your actions and he was ready for any reaction you’ll throw him. Anger or mockery were the first two he was expecting but now it was his turn to blink perplexed.

You began to laugh.

He wasn’t sure if you were laughing at him or at the situation but the way your cheeks redden, the way you were trying to muffle your giggles with the back of your hand.

It made his insides twitch.

Your laughter faded but you still had a smile on your lips, you weren’t really laughing at him but about this man's assumption, he thought you were ingesting drugs and it was cute that someone took the trouble to worry. It’s true in this club there are several drug addicts, some of your companions are. You can drink until you suffer a massive hangover the next day but to take something that can make you see flying pineapples is a big no-no.

“Oh no, no! These are not drugs.” You assure as you opened the bottle and pop a green one in your mouth. “It’s just candy, I get hungry in the job so I’ll always keep something to bite on.”

You could see relief washing over his features and also ashamed reddening his cheeks. “Ah, I’m glad. I’m sorry for, well touching you, it wasn’t my intention to startle you like that. I just wanted to, well help you.”

“Don’t sweat it,” You munch a blue one until you had an idea. “Would you like one? It’s from the red bag.”

“Eh?”

You gave the bottle a slight shake, emphasizing your offer. You just wanted to be nice, even though you were a bit selfish when it came to candy. Toshinori stared at your outstretched hand for a few seconds until he shook his head, with a friendly smile on his sharp cheeks he answered.

“Thank you but I’m afraid I’ve to decline.”

They weren’t dirty if he was thinking about it, but you didn’t insist, understand that not everyone would accept sweets from a stranger and less than an exotic dancer. It’s clear this man has never been in a strip club and you thought he was a gentleman, the way he blushed and how he apologized because he only touched you without your permission.

You weren’t sure if this man was acting or he’s truly a gentleman.

Working in this type of business has taught you a thing or two, actually, the other dancers had to teach because in your first months working in the cherry pop you were unbearably naïve. With the corner of your eye, you noticed the drinks, who the bartender was keeping guard. You assumed he was with some friends and he had to ask for them.

Conjuring a lovely smile, you thought it would be a great idea to play with him, to kill some time. Also, you wanted to see if really is a gentleman or just someone who’s pretending to be one.

“Are you with your friends?”

Your question caught him off guard, for a moment the blond thought you were going to go after that but you didn’t. And Toshinori wished you did, apparently, he forgot how to speak with another human being.

“I-I yes, I'm with some colleagues,” Toshinori replied while looking at the spot he got separate from Midnight. “They’re supposed to get a seat well uhm, for this.”

“Mhm, that’s good to hear.” You acknowledge as you leaned forward liking how the tall man was leaning backward. “I hope you and your friends like the show, it’s about to start again.”

Toshinori tilted his head a bit as he cocked a thin eyebrow. “There’s going to be a show?”

“Uh-hu! In this club we throw something different each week, tonight we’re going to throw some Lip sync and, and- what the heck,” Your eyebrows pinched in confusion, you had to stretch your neck to observe a dancer who was making strange gestures, and towards you. Comprehension showed in your features since that weird dancer was actually your friend Mamacita, who was still making you wild gestures and they must mean ‘honey, it’s time to go!’

“I really, really must be going, it’s time to get ready for the show.” Taking your cold drink from the bar and carefully you chug it down, you don’t want to ruin your make up.

“Right, of course, you’ve work to do.” Toshinori nodded but it sounded so awkward. “Oh, let me help you.” He extended a bony hand for you and you gladly took it, shinning a grateful smile for his help you step down from the colorful bar when your shoes touched the ground you shook the imaginary dust of your skirt but you only did it with only one hand since the other was occupied, being held by the tall man.

You didn’t know his name and you didn’t want to know, it is for sure you would never see HIM again. You huffed amused again by his attitude, apologizing to you again while he let go of you.

You wave it off with a shrugged off your shoulders.

“I’m off. I hope you enjoy the show, see you later⁓” You sashay away, swaying your hips just a bit, knowing well the adorable and awkward man was watching your behind. And Toshinori scolds himself for letting your hips create some filthy thoughts, with an annoyed huff he paid the drinks and walked away with them. It wasn’t difficult to locate a wild Yamada who chatted heartily with other dancers just like Nemuri, who was clearly seducing some dancers.

“Ah, Yagi-san! For a moment we thought you bailed on us!” Nemuri exclaimed as she scooted, patting the red cushion beside her, gesturing for the blonde to sit.

“Yeah, we’d to fight some punks for this spot!” Yamada added, taking the jar and giving a sip to the golden liquid. Toshinori’s face paled, looking between the two heroes.

“Wait, please don’t tell me you actually fight?”

Nemuri gasped after she gulped a tequila shot, faking indignation. “You offend mesir, I would never!”

“We only talked and rudely, they left after Nemuri threaten them. Nothing special.” Hisashi added. “

Toshinori sighed, they definitely going to be their death.

“Ah, c’mon Yagi-san! But guess what? These lovely ladies told us there’s going to be a show! Some type of competition?”

One of the dancers dressed as high schooler giggled at the forgetful expression of Yamada, so she explains. “That’s right, that’s right! Every girl needs to throw a little dance to the audience with their most wild movements and at the end, we see who wins!”

Hizashi and Nemuri were interesting about who was going to be in this little show and the “high schooler” cheerfully began to name them. Mamacita, Divine, Coco, there were so many creative names the blonde wondered which one would be yours, not the real one of course because he assumed it was important for all the dancers to maintain their privacy. The excited shrieks of Yamada and Nemuri took him out of his mind, apparently, they were going to start with the show and surely they would have a good look since their table was a bit close to the stage.

“Good evening lady and gentleman!” the DJ started announcing. “I hope everyone is having a good time in our cherry pop because is about to get spicy up in here!”

The crowd broke into applause and whistles, ready to enjoy what the dancers were going to demonstrate tonight. Toshinori breathed a chuckle, amused by the exaggerated applause of the other two heroes and he was also curious about this show.

“Alright, alright! Just a little briefing for any new here: our girls have to show off their best routines and the one with the most applause is the winner!” Now without further a due let me present our first girl!

To be judged by applause? It seemed fair, although Toshinori had some doubts he kept them to himself. What if two dancers have an amazing routine? Would they tie?

“Three times champion! Our heartbreaker, and cold goddess, Venus!”

Toshinori was startled by how the crowd broke into applause, the men jumped from their chairs and whistled like wolves when the aforementioned dancer came out from the curtain and paraded on the stage, showing off her attire. He threw kisses to the several men who tried to get their attention, sending them seductive smiles that are surely false, but a girl must always keep her act real.

Toshinori blinked owlishly

It was you, your name was Venus.

Well, your professional name in this case.

“Aight, settle down boys! Don’t make me call security.” The DJ warned, you also have to remember that it’s a place full of drunken men and surely some will try to cross the line with one of the girls. “Let’s get ready to fuck shit up, Venus!”

The music coming from the speakers vibrated in his body, he didn’t recognize the song but had a sensual rhythm, which you moved your hips to the rhythm of the song.

Everyone was delighted with the movements of your hands, arms, and legs. Men threw bills on the stage or sometimes you took a one to put on your belts.

Phoenix Protocol 02

A Zavala x Female Guardian work.

Summary: When the Traveler’s Light was returned to the Guardians after the defeat of the Cabal, it did not manifest itself the same in everyone. Miyu, an Awoken Warlock, finds herself struggling with her abilities, her Light feeling different and not her own. With her Vanguard preoccupied with grief and all eyes turned to the Reef, she finds herself turning to an unlikely source in an attempt to rediscover her connection to the Light and define what it means for her as a Dawnblade.

Ikora always wants more.

By research, Ikora actually means to discuss Miyu stopping hers. Focusing on more important matters. The Reef. Uldren. Miyu wants nothing to do with any of it, and that is why she had willingly offered her services detaining escapees from the Prison of Elders despite not actually wanting to do that at all.

It gives Miyu time to actually complete some more secretive research on the side: why her Light is messed up. Why it feels like when she received hers back, after the war, it felt like it belonged to someone else, the person she used to be but wasn’t any more, coiling uneasily beneath her skin. She’s gone to Io. The Shard. Both under the guise of hunting escapees, but also to seek answers.

Neither place does and very day, the solar sword is more difficult to grasp, wings of flame beyond her reach. Telling her Vanguard that didn’t work. Ikora didn’t understand. The Void has always been at her fingertips, for as long as she’s been connected to the Traveler. With that in mind, Miyu attempts to adapt her argument, listens to Ikora insisting that she push herself and hopes that eventually either her own efforts or Ikora’s reasoning pays off.

Ikora still demands an answer, though. Wants Miyu to give her something. So, Miyu presents her personal thoughts. Based on her research, she finds that her connection to the Light is strongest while meditating or calling upon her abilities in the midst of a healing rift. Ikora is not impressed. Miyu isn’t expecting her to be. She tells Ikora the truth - that she does not believe offensive maneuvers are her true calling, not anymore. It’s something she’s believed for a while now. She can hear Ghost cheering her on in her mind for being honest - for expressing her opinion. That was rare. Miyu hated doing so, especially when she knew it was going to be an unpopular one.

Ikora, in response, cites battles, strikes, accolades. Ikora always measures a Warlock’s worth in accolades.

Miyu measures a person - Guardian, Human, Exo, Awoken, whatever - in terms of character. Heart. Sometimes she thinks that’s why she just doesn’t fit in with her more intellectual colleagues, aside from not being sneaky and clever like the Hidden or having half the honors or titles that Ikora’s top-tier Warlocks have. Put a sword in her hands and Miyu can cut down almost anyone or anything. But have her infiltrate a group and act a certain way, play a role of some sort? She’ll fail right away.

She is not an actress. She’s a Guardian. And to her knowledge, the definition of a Guardian is someone who protects. There has to be some merit in that, she’s told Ghost, and he - her best friend and most honest critic - agrees.

Ikora - Miyu thinks - must not think much of her. Still, the Void user pulls her back from her thoughts with praise. “Grey,” She says, “You are so much more than you give yourself credit for. You need to push yourself harder. Do not give up. I know you are better than this.”

It’s times like this that she wonders. Does Ikora know what her name is, really? Does Ikora even care? Miyu is beginning to think she’s just a faceless person, a puzzle that is challenging and therefore worth the more esteemed woman’s time. Ikora gave her hardly any face-time before the war, before she had these issues.

Regardless, the younger Warlock attempts to retain her composure. “Thank you. However, I would like to pursue my research on a more defensive Solar ability,” Miyu says, barely a whisper of defiance. “I believe it is possible.”

Ikora shakes her head. “Leave shielding for the Titans. A Warlock’s rift is not meant to protect. It is meant to heal or empower, and only briefly. Attempting to augment it is a waste of Light better spent on dispatching our enemies.”

Miyu sighs, but nods. “What would you have me do, then?”

The Warlock Vanguard crosses her arms, turns her back to Miyu and looks out at the City. “Take the most difficult Strikes and Patrols I can give you. Challenge yourself and you will find yourself calling upon your abilities more. If that does not help you to realign yourself with your Light,” She trails off, eyes narrowing on a fixed point beyond the horizon, “I will explore other paths. Your research is unnecessary at this time. If you require a project, I will send you to collect information from the Reef.”

The younger Warlock bows. “I understand,” Miyu says, schooling her features into something blank, and trying to sound collected and grateful, not detached and indifferent. “Thank you.” This won’t help. She’s already tried this, Miyu thinks, but tries not to let it bleed into her demeanor.

“You’re welcome, Grey. You may go.”

Miyu turns her back to Ikora Rey, but waits until she is nearly to Banshee’s stall in the main portion of the Tower to let the frustration show on her face, a very quiet growl escaping her. Ghost appears at her side immediately. “I can’t believe she wouldn’t listen to you,” He says, sounding even more irritated than Miyu is. “I’m sorry,” He apologizes to her. “But I think you should keep working on it.”

“So do I.”

Ghost bobs, spinning around her in a wide circle of disbelief. “You do?”

“Yes.” Silver eyes cant over toward her Ghost’s single teal one. “I’ll do what she asks, and continue my research on my own. What else can I do?”

He sighs. “I know. I just wish it had gone differently.” He taps her cheek. “If you could have convinced her to watch you summon your-”

“We asked that the last two times and she refused. It’s okay, Ghost. I’m used to it being just you and me.” She reaches up to cup his small being with her hands, and holds him close. “Sometimes, I think it’s better that way.”

Ghost nuzzles against her abdomen in a return of their improvised hug, and wonders not for the first time if she considers leaving. He knows she doesn’t feel like she belongs here, that she’s trying so hard to fit into the roles dictated by social norms. Most of her fellow Guardians hurt her with their lack of understanding, their taunts. Most of them do not know how it feels to have their Light feel foreign to them. Still, she remains as gentle as she can, does her best to be kind to everyone she meets. It’s no wonder they don’t live within the confines of the Tower. The City folk are far kinder to his wayward Guardian than her own brothers and sisters. It’s a shame.

Three days later, news hits the Tower. Cayde-6's killer has been eliminated. Almost everyone is celebrating. Miyu uses the general population's distraction to her advantage, slipping out to the training grounds recently restored near the base of the wall. There should be free space for her to experiment unseen, a rarity in the middle of the day.

She discards her gauntlets and lets the heavy, flame-retardant sleeves of her robes hang down over her palms. Pulls her sword from its sheath at her side. Ghost flutters around her, cones spinning silently in anticipation a safe distance away. She drops to her starting position, kicks off.

What she does not have in stealth or strength, she makes up with in skill. Some of it, Ghost believes, may have been written upon her from her first life, muscle memory and reflexes allowing her to pick up swordplay far more easily than ever anticipated. But not all of it. She worked hard to hone her skills, consulted archives and videos, took every ounce of criticism to heart.

He enjoys watching her dance throughout the training arena with her blade slashing out, parrying imaginary blows, each move fluid yet moving with unbelievable discipline and precision. However, he knows it will come soon. Can feel the tingle of Light, the increasing heat. She’s going to try without the rift. She always does, first. When her mind is clear, when she’s reached that place of blank-white concentration.

The Warlock sheaths her physical blade in a motion like lightning, before reaching out for the heat in the air, calling upon the Light in her soul to manifest the sword that answers the call of her heart. It always looks so effortless from afar.

It isn’t, though. He watches her throw the first one, scorching the dirt. Watches her call upon the second. Watches the flames spiral up her arm, paying no heed to her robes. Watches her grit her teeth and give form to the energy in her hand. This one doesn’t go as far, doesn’t track like the first.

The third fizzles into ash, blackens her fingertips. She screams, drops to her knees, slams her fists into the dirt. He doesn’t approach. He knows she wants to feel this, to commit it to memory - as if she hasn’t already, he thinks, but allows it to continue - and use it to fuel her. It’s how Ikora believes she will improve. Miyu doesn’t believe in it, but she tries anyway. He knows she’d try anything, to feel like herself again.

This is torture, but it’s therapeutic. She needs to let it out, to blaze, like the fiery powers locked inside her, refusing to come out the way they’re supposed to. The way they always had, before the Cabal had ripped them away by force.

Any changes in her personality, since the war, have been subtle. He notices the way her swordhand twitches after she lets the blades burn through her nerves. Can tell that where she might say ten words once, she now says six or five. Notices that where she’d try to be social once in a while, it takes a great deal of encouragement to convince her to approach a friendly face.

Ghost’s cones push out and then back in, spiraling around him in surprise as someone appears on his radar. Someone approaching, quickly. At a run. Miyu is pushing herself up, the rush of a healing rift spiraling out from beneath her. She doesn’t notice.

Another attempt is made to call upon the sword. She growls and braces her sword hand - gripping her left wrist with her right hand. Flames spit and spiral up both arms this time, fighting for purchase against the healing properties of the rift.

“Mi- Miyu?”

The small AI turns at the sound of the familiar voice. Oh, no.

family doctor!seungmin

a/n: it was hard to find pictures of clinics;-; so i tried to go according to colour scheme! this fic is also dedicated to the 2 seungmin stans, annie and jupiter,, i hope yall like it^^// request

seungmin... graduated at the top of his class for family medicine

cute looks+good grades?? destined to do well fam

eventually he became a doctor in seoul national univ. hospital, one of the top hospitals in seoul

his niche wasnt really paediatrics but he enjoyed the company of children that the ceo gave him the offer in the department

seungmin declined, choosing to stay in family medicine

however patients who are fairly young are always numbered to his room so its all good

sometimes he’s on ER(emergency room) duty and 80% of female patients develop an instant crush on him

its funny cause when he measures their heart rate it spikes abnormally high and he gets flustered, “why is your heart rate so high?”

and doesnt notice the growing blush in their cheeks

anyhow, that was on rare occasions when he needs to cover duties for his colleague and close friend, jeongin

seungmin always wears this white coat with pororo stickers decorated on his name tag

coat pockets filled with candy and stickers to reward the children for behaving well

really hates to administer injections as he really doesnt want to hurt the children

but for the sake of their health he had to

and shower them with loads of candies and stickers after that

sometimes he’s also a FPC(first patient clinic) doctor

fpc: a doctor assigned to a particular patient with complicated problems, to avoid confusion, these patients go to the same doctor consequently for their diagnosis and reports

and when he sees familiar faces his eyes light up 10 times more, eyes crinkling into crescents

he’s just so friendly, children dont even hate going to the doctor’s because of him

while checking their lungs seungmin would squat down to their eye-level to talk to them, to distract them

children willingly open their mouths to let him check their tonsils too

children rarely cry during his consulations, because seungmin is that good with children

and they go out happy

which makes you wonder what kind of spell seungmin casts on the kids to make them happy

you, a permanent in the ER, deal with all sorts of people everyday

frantically rushing in every minute, life and death right at its doorstep

sometimes you see seungmin in the ER for cover duty, and he was definitely a sight for sore eyes

but you never approached him, not wanting him to see you in messy hair and makeup almost all gone

you always see him cooped up in his room during lunch break, and you also didnt have the courage to ask him out for lunch, since the both of you werent close either

in reality, seungmin always cooks his own lunch and saves them in a bento to eat during lunch break

its much more economical and healthy, the only times he eats from outside are company gatherings or jeongin forcing him to come along which he would immediately agree imo

seungmin’s cooking is actually one of the best out of all of the doctors, since he lives alone and living on ramen wasnt exactly the healthiest

which lowkey explains why he’s so damn smart, both booksmart and streetsmart

strangely, he hasnt have much experiences with girls

all of his knowledge are from romcom kdramas btw

but he does know how to be a gentleman around girls,, a huge plus point

aNYWHO the gods decided to shine on you and seungmin was in ER duty for this whole month

because jeongin was down with pneumonia, and was unfit for duty

definitely not missing out naggings from seungmin saying he should stop eating churros

you knew jeongin fairly well, as your same-shift colleague in the ER with a very cute friend

and when he was down with pneumonia you didnt know whether to thank him or kill him

because, seungmin would take over jeongin, which meant he would be on the same shift as you

you got to see him, but also you didnt want him to see you

what will he think of you? will he hate you? many questions filled your mind

all of them were forgotten the moment seungmin approached you to say hi

“hi, im seungmin! im from the family doctors’ side, but im here to cover jeongin for the month. and ive seen you around, but i didnt really catch your name.”

“i-i’m y/n! im a permanent here. jeongin’s friend too.” you stuttered, which made seungmin giggle

you stared at him weirdly, which made him clear his throat, “im sorry i mustve offended you.”

“no... its fine. i understand that ER duty isnt the best and we’re on night duty too.”

seungmin looked slightly offended at your rebuttal, but still regained his composure

usually, there werent many patients at night but there was this one little boy who couldnt stop crying because of a high fever

you were flustered, as jeongin was the one who always tended to younger patients

just then, a knight in white armour(quite literally) came rushing by your side to placate the crying child

the child stopped crying as soon and seungmin tended to him, and the whole consultation was just a breeze

the poor child had suffered from chicken pox, and he had to be isolated in a different room in the hospital

both you and seungmin were sad, the child would be both lonely and in pain(?)

since the child brought down the mood for the both of you, you decided to get 2 cups of hot cocoa to cheer him and yourself up

“don’t worry. the child will get better.” you patted his arm(which was your boldest move of the day), handing him the hot cocoa

he looked at you with puppy eyes, the brightening up slightly, “i hope he will.”

“he will, with your expertise, im sure he will soon.” you comforted, unaware that seungmin’s heart was beating wildly at your comment.

seungmin was practically skipping back home when his shift ended

now night shifts wasnt as suckish anymore with you around seungmin

the both of you would always joke around with each other, you “accidentally” squirting saline solution onto seungmin and he’d be like

“hEy y/n this would be a good time to express my affection for you!!”

you’d be like nell ho bc 1. you didnt want to get soaked and 2. too close for your heart to function properly

mostly 2.

but the both of you stop your playful banter until chan came along to tell the both of you off to “stop acting like a love-struck couple”

even after his duty in the ER, seungmin would approach you for lunch break, to jeongin’s surprise

hes like, “hyung, you never ever ask me to go for lunch”

“im sick of my food anyway”

“sStop LyING i know you like y/n”

“i suddenly love jjangmyeon lets order some and share with her”

sometimes seungmin would cook you a bento too, knowing youre too busy

tbh you were starting to catch on a lil but you didnt want to give yourself false hope

until one day jeongin steps in to play cupid

sOoooo jeongin tells you that seungmin needs help with some wound dressing thingy

which you nearly wanted to question him but went with it anyway

and when youre in seungmin’s room there was no patient, only seungmin attentively typing away on his desktop

and he was wearing black-rimmed round glasses with slightly curled hair

a whole boyfriend look ngl

but you shook that off, asking seungmin if he needed help with anything

seungmin tilted his head in confusion, “no..?”

just then, the lock of the door went click, signalling that it was locked

I am making decent money, and was, at the time, driving a really high mileage 1998 explorer that got terrible MPG and was nickle and dimeing me to death, so I decided to go look for a new car. The car I found, was a 2011 Suzuki Kizashi S. It had really high safety ratings, the car itself was in very good condition (the previous owner was a little old lady who I actually got to meet because her nephew was the car salesman I bought it from, who even brought me all of the paperwork on the maintenance she had - impeccable maintenance record I might add), and the average highway mpg, is double that of my explorer. However, I made a mistake of not confirming what my insurance rate would change to when I called State Farm over the phone to have my coverage changed to the new vehicle, and now here I am paying triple what I did for the explorer. I don't get it, how does a little 4 door sedan w/ awesome safety ratings and all that jazz cost me $224 a month to insure, but a 4WD fully loaded explorer, in Colorado, that I had since I was 17, was only like $63 a month.
