👻 What is your wildest headcanon?

Okay well I had to think about this one for a minute because I wasn't sure if I even have a "wild" headcanon at all??? LOL! I dunno, all my headcanons make sense to me!

But I think most of my crazy headcanons have to do with the demons being secretly involved in significant events in human history. Like I think it'd be super funny if Satan was somehow responsible for inspiring Gutenberg to invent the printing press. Though now that I write it out, that doesn't really sound all that wild either lol.

My favorite headcanon is that Solomon's pact with Barbatos is what makes him immortal. I know he says it was the result of a potion gone wrong or something, but I just find this much more compelling. A time demon seems like they would able to stop aging and I think it would be a cool side effect of having a pact with him.

FINALLY ANSWERING THIS BECAUSE I HAVE THE ENERGY LETS GOOOOO. I uh.... am Really Into this character rn and actually properly infodumped here so it's under a readmore 🐬🐬🐬

ok so Sunlith is a second-generation uplifted bottlenose dolphin. that means that his parents were born in Ocean (the cetacean name for Earth), but they pursued the Uplift process, which changes parts of cetacean biology to make them more suited to life on land/in space/with humans/etc. (I can go into detail about what actually happens during Uplift but that would be its own post. 👀)

anyways! his parents went to space and Sunlith was born among a nomad fleet of stardrifters (another dolphin word for spaceship) in the outer solar system.

uplifted dolphins make up less than 1% of the Sol Union (the name for all space-faring beings from the Sol system), but they still have all the same rights and freedoms as humans... and particularly ambitious dolphins can make a killing as mineral extractors in the asteroid belt due to their exceptional piloting abilities. (cetaceans are naturals at maneuvering in low/no gravity 360 dregree space)

this was the profession of Sunlith's birth pod, meaning he grew up with the finest education available. this education allowed him to get into the Europan piloting division, which is especially sought after by cetaceans due to the fact that the best anti-grav exopods (mobility devices worn by cetaceans) come from Europan technology.

Sunlith wanted to go to Europa for a couple reasons: as a second-gen uplift, he's behind his peers in terms of fitting in with humans and other more culturally-adapted cetaceans. he uses traditional cetacean terms like 'maker' for humans and 'many-arms' for cephalopods (his favorite area of study.) basically, he's socially awkward and just wants to study tentacled creatures all day.

Europa is the only other planet in the solar system with native life forms - and they're possibly intelligent! they're called Nautilids and are convergently evolved with Ocean nautilus. by getting accepted as a frame pilot on Europa, Sunlith could both study his favorite organisms AND gain cultural prestige.

there was only one catch - the work on Europa is (you guessed it) mineral extraction! all Europan tech utilizes Europite, a rare metal only occurring on its namesake, for its coveted anti-gravity properties. the Nautilids on Europa are protected, but these protections are only enforced under a trade agreement with a hyper-advanced alien species called the Ouro. these aliens provide funding and equipment for non-invasive mining techniques in return for a cut of the Europite.

this finally brings us to the reason this is a Beam Saber campaign in a war setting: the Ouro are threatening embargo with the Sol Union because they want access to the human-inhabited extra-solar planet of Terra Brea, and these humans refuse to relocate. embargo would not only see Nautilid protections stripped away, but also a massive reversal of technological progress across the entire solar system.

and this is why Sunlith Joins The Peacekeepers (AKA the war. there is not much peace happening)... or, it's one of the reasons anyways. the population of Terra Brea is a religious sect called the Clusterists, a xenophobic group who don't take too kindly to dolphins. so that's also part of it. the Clusterists have their own stuff going on, the war is extremely unpopular, and it's messy and complicated!

I've REALLY been enjoying developing not only all the space-faring cetacean worldbuilding aspects of this universe, but also the whole fallout of an idealistic dolphin trying to fight for a cause he believes in only to discover that War Is Hell. he's VERY useful as a soldier because dolphins have higher psychic ability than humans, and he's used as a lie detector. his frame (mech) is also huge and has advanced shielding, since it was originally used for mining, moving ice sheets, and protecting Nautilids from harm.

to wrap up: Sunlith is very good at what's being asked of him. his call sign is 'Loyal' because of how his teammates view him as an order-following machine, but as he learns about human culture he's starting to hate his life more and more... but he still just wants to protect his little* squid friends and is experiencing extreme moral crisis.

will he succeed in any of his goals?! who knows!! but I'm excited to find out.

*they are not little at all actually. their shells are the size of ferris wheels and their tentacles extend like 100ft

I do feel that she harbours a certain uneasiness around priests due to past experiences (the exorcism…). Besides, random man she doesn’t know offering her sanctuary in cathedral in (I think) the bum-fuck middle of nowhere? No thankyouuu

Add to this, perhaps a strange sense of familiarity, the scent of the same otherworldly essence that she carries on herself… She’s more likely to treat him as a potential rival/enemy, far more genuinely dangerous to her than some regular stranger. Besides, Abigail’s probably at a point in her life where she is living like an animal; everything or anyone that could be a threat to her must go.

They walk. Carrick looks around, tries not to shrink his shoulders in at the soldiers around him, snickering, pointing, whispering. Pretty, that’s one way to describe this place – elegant, sophisticated, polished. Something closer to a palace, closer to how the good guys’ fortress would look. Pretty but hiding the ugliness beneath.

He almost misses the cadet facilities, the stone walls, the monochrome shades. At least they’re honest. At least someone who’s trying to punch his teeth in is upfront about it. Here, he has no idea what to expect at all, and that sets him bristling, sets him on edge.

And then – up another set of stairs, down another corridor, and they’re standing in front of a pair of normal-looking, wooden doors: all dark mahogany and brass knobs. Lisa knocks. “It’s Commander Hawthorne, sir. I’ve brought the Halfling.”

“Enter.”

Lisa opens the door, shoves him forward, and he has no choice but to walk.

It’s an office.

The windows look out onto the courtyard below, covered in white snow tinted sunset orange. Heavy dark purple curtains with gold tassels drape to the floor, and Carrick feels his feet sink into soft, plush carpet. There are bookshelves lining the walls – not just AMA drivel, but history and science and fiction, atlases and dictionaries and a few old texts. In a corner, next to a crackling fireplace, is a low table and a few stuffed sofas, and the lighting is soft and mellow.

Directly in front of him: a work desk, and a man bent over it, looking at a sheaf of papers. He looks up, eyes widening for a moment before softening. He smiles and they crinkle at the edges and he looks – almost kind. The room seems almost cozy and the man doesn’t look at Carrick with hate or disgust or even a faint distaste, and that, more than anything else, throws him.

And then his eyes widen and he stands up abruptly. Carrick flinches, and he walks over –

“Klysmos, look at you! Your lips are still blue, you must be freezing –” The man whirls to Lisa, demands: “What happened? Are you trying to kill him?”

“He landed one of the most promising cadets of this batch in the infirmary for a month,” Lisa says, bristling – but her tone lacks some of its cutting edge, holds some modicum of fear or respect. The firelight glints of the many pins and medals on the man’s coat and, looking it over, Carrick realizes he must rank far higher than her. “And it was the agreed upon punishment. Use of magic and actively assaulting another candidate means the Pit.”

“The Pit,” the man says coldly, “is supposed to help him learn his lesson. It’s to give time for his magic to restabilize so he won’t hurt other candidates. It’s a time for self-reflection. It isn’t supposed to bring him to near-death. What would you have done if a cadet who’s supposed to be under your supervision died?” His tone is cutting and sharp, and Lisa blanches.

i get why silver probably won’t be in prime since the original world doesn’t exist anymore and therefore neither does the future, i mean say what you will about silver’s hellish timeline but at least it’s still there, but i still have the tiniest bit of hope for blaze since we don’t really know if the shatterverse affects other pre-established dimensions

i really want to see blaze but i feel like it probably wont happen. because all the shatterspaces so far have been alternate versions of green hill zone specifically. and the only characters (other than generic background characters) to appear anywhere in the shatterverse are people who were in green hill when the paradox prism shattered. also i feel like it would just be weird for blaze to randomly appear in one shatterspace when she didnt have a counterpart in any of the others. or maybe its not that deep and im just trying to not set myself up for disappointment

SORRY for sending another ask right away but is there a possibility that nahida can read alectra's mind like she can for other NPCs? or even if not, let's say she can hypothetically, what would the dialogue be for alectra? (you can answer this for lamia too!)

however I am going to be honest I did not know that this was a thing she could do. I am not caught up on the story or lore because I was concerned that sumeru’s archon quests would set me off and from what I have heard I am very correct in that concern unfortunately. This means I have no idea what the usual dialogue gained from this would be, but.. would the fact that neither Alectra nor Lamia are actually human make any difference?

Since.. Alectra appears human because it was Rosalyne’s emotions that could not be properly sealed that gave her that form; she is more technically a mixture of the dying spirit of the nightingale she originally was that was killed by humans, and the subsequent anguish that the Crimson Witch of Flames felt at her (the nightingale’s) death which mixed in and stopped her fading away completely. And then Lamia is - spoilers! - actually a Pyro Abyss Mage, but she pestered Enjou to teach her how to disguise as a human like he could, and even though the magic wasn’t perfect when she cast it, it still lets her pass as human pretty well (aside from a few details not being quite right, like the line of scales that runs down her spine).

..I lost the train of thought. Sorry. I might need to look up examples of the dialogue you get from doing this with Nahida, since I think I would be safe to do that?, to have a better idea of what would be said - it’d change depending on whether this was more of a superficial “what are they currently thinking about” or a more.. intrusive? introspective? sort of “what is this character really like”, if that makes any sense. Sorry again, but thank you for sending this, it does mean a lot - and if I may ask, do you have any dialogue for any of your own characters for this game??
