Happy Birthday Scottish Rugby great, Gary Armstrong born 30th September 1966 in Edinburgh.
Armstrong was first capped at aged 22 against Australia at Murrayfield, he went on to be capped 51 times for Scotland in a career ravaged by injury brought on by his fearless playing style, it is quoted by fellow Scot David Sole (that) "If you were picking one guy to go over the top you would pick Gary Armstrong. He would put his body on the line for the cause -- a phenomenal player with incredible courage."
Such were Armstrong's injuries he devoted an entire chapter to them in his autobiography" Scotland played 89 matches in all between his debut against Australia in October 1988 and his final appearance against the All Blacks 11 years later,he would undoubtedly have played the majority of these matches had he remained injury free, however he surely would not have been the same fearless player. He was fearsomely committed, a quality which made him a favourite of notoriously demanding Scotland coach Jim Telfer.
To put him on a pedestal on my own would be unfair, I confess to not being a massive Rugby fan but when the late great Bill McLaren, said of him "I can't recall an occasion on which he passed one rubbish ball to his partner, then you might start believing the mans ability.
To sum things up in a poll in The Herald in 2015 Gary Armstrong was voted the Greatest Scottish Rugby player ever, another article from ESPN is titled "The man who never threw a rubbish pass" The Sports network have him at our number six best player.
The year Gary Armstrong retired, 1999 was the last time Scotland won the Five (now six) Nations Championship. Checking the facts myself, in the 20 years that have passed, we haven't even been runners up our best standing lately was third in 2018.
Coincidence? Make your own mind up. To borrow a line from a famous song...." When will we see your likes again?"
A former lorry driver in the amateur era, Armstrong returned to the lorry business after his rugby career ended while also trying his hand at farming. He has since made a successful transition to the grain business and turned out for Stewart Melville’s third XV at the age of 51 as part of his ongoing work to aid the My Name’5 Doddie Weir foundation.
Armstrong also made a surprise return to the playing field in 2018, turning out for Stewart’s Melville RFC’s third XV as a favour to his old friend and fellow former Scotland international Finlay Calder.

What Makes Your Muses Body Unique?
Simple premise. Give 5 (or more) headcanons about your muses' body. Hands, eyes, feet, birthmarks, tricks--anything!
Tumblr media
These got a lil long so they're going under a readmore
HEADCANON 1: Wynn keeps his nails cut pretty short when he's in his human form. he keeps a little nail for peeling and similar activities ( because it helps to have nails in some situations ), but he tends to leave them as is because he works with his hands a lot. and he's not trying to have broken nails and what not — especially not when he's fighting and throwing punches when he shifts ( even if it's partial ), he can't really…. mitigate the lengths it's going to grow to — especially given that it's grow to a certain point and then just… stop. he can clip his nails if it's like. a half shift but it'll grow back to it's "normal" length twice as fast and, quite honestly, it's very uncomfortable for him so he just… doesn't. and that's not very conducive for his work unless he means to rip, tear, and shred.
HEADCANON 2: wynn's had a myriad of hairstyles over the years but currently, he's sporting his natural hair give or take some products that was foisted upon him so he could better take care of it. He's got a 3C curl pattern so his hair will frizz like no ones business the moment it senses too much humidity. his hair stops just above his shoulders when dry and tends to be very coiled and tight. he doesn't really put it up in any special way and, sans pinning or tying it back on some occasions, he's not in the habit of touching it much outside of making sure it's washed and moisturized. every now and then, he'll get lazy with regards to getting it cut and he'll back and forth with having it nice and put together and sporting a bedhead or having this messy bun that's more coils than anything. for example, wynn typically goes from the left when he's letting his hair grow ( with tighter coils ofc ) to the right when maintains it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as for hair in other places, wynn's… not as hairy surprisingly. his hair is thick when it grows out but grows slow as well so more oft than not, Wynn will notice a some extra stubble or other unwanted hair and he'll just… shave jadfbdjsf
HEADCANON 3: wynn favors his left side, as it was his right leg that got caught in a trap when he was younger. used to walk with a bit of a limp until his teens, where he started getting more active. he ended up spraining that very same ankle too and so he's had a fraught hisory with his right leg and was always paranoid about it up until… a couple years ago.
he doesn't walk with a limp anymore but he has to be careful about how he lands on that foot when he's working. he's been vigilant about masking that it's a weak point for him but careful eyes could discern that much.
HEADCANON 4: OKAY SO he doesn't tell anyone about this but Wynn's vision in the dark is nothing to scoff at. of course, it's infinitely better when he's completely shifted, but he can still see pretty well when in human form and is one of the two red inc members that can effectively protect themself in a dark room ( the other one being Mikah ).
the only minor side-effect of this is that he does get migraines sometimes if he spends too much time in the dark while in human form, because he's still straining his eyes and it does take a toll.
HEADCANON 5: wynn had a light smattering of freckles on his face and shoulders when he was a little thing. they're gone now but if anyone is ever lucky enough to meet his family, they've got a bunch of pictures of him with said freckles.
HEADCANON 6: Wynn always sits like he's lounging back in his seat if he's in a casual setting. His back is usually 100% never against the back of his chair, legs comfortably apart, and it's a toss up on whether he has his hands loosely folded in his lap or folded across his chest. It's not a great position to be sitting in, posture wise, but it's one of the few times where he just… does not care. He'll move and sit up if prompted and he never sits like that while on the job but outside of that, he aims to be a comfortable bear when sitting and that's what makes him comfortable.

Hey yall i know im not active and never post anything personal BUT i started a hockey blog and twitter that Id love to get out to people. Hockey has been a massive part of my life even as a Dominican girl in the Bronx. All i want is to share the sport with people like me who would usually see it and go 'go wtf is that nah im good'. The pages purposes are to break the sport down into terms everyone can understand, keep people up to date, engage even the most casual fan, a lil sass talking, and provide easy to read and follow information on the sport, teams, rules and hisory.
Its an incredibly exciting sport with constant action. The love fans have for their teams is palpable even through tv screens (esp Nashville, who expected that?), the communities formed around hockey are so tight knit, and the level of respect on the ice is insane. Most of these players are incredibly gracious humble regular dudes with little to no ego who jump at opportunities to give back off the ice, really the only exception is Patrick Kane and even that piece of shit donates like crazy. Its a sport that has such positive values and attitudes attached to the core of it all while beimg wildly exciting and physical, people would be surprised how quickly theyd get into it if they gave it a chance/had an opportunity to understand it.
Hockeys known as just a white male sport blocked off for everyone else, especially when the lingo and rules are hard to catch onto since nobody outside its circle even talks about it. As a latina, i'm one of of few to be involved in it. I basically have become a walking encyclopedia to my friends who are fascinated by it but dont know what the fuck is going on.
So I finally turned my passion into a physical page that I hope will reach many. The hours of research, the hours i continue putting in reading every new article or update, and taking the time to cover almost every game wether live on twitter or in a recap later, creating my own stats for all 31 teams; Ive worked really hard on it and even if youre not a fan of it yourself, a reblog could help it grow! My dream is to one day be able to pursue sports media so this could be a great stepping stone. Who knows, I could be the first Latina NHL reporter. Thank you for reading!! Please share to help a girl out

Dean Ambrose is WWE’s latest Grand Slam champion after SummerSlam win
Ambrose joined a short list of WWE superstars who have succeeded at every level of the company’s card.
The number of championships you win in WWE isn’t the only way to recognize success. The kinds of championships you win also play a huge part in that. So, when Dean Ambrose became a tag team champion for the first time in his career on Sunday at SummerSlam, it was about more than just proving what a reunited Ambrose and Seth Rollins can do when they work as a team. It also put Ambrose in select company in WWE history, as he became only the 16th wrestler to ever achieve a Grand Slam with the company.
A Grand Slam is a concept within quite a few sports where there are four major accomplishments to rack up: in WWE’s case, it’s achieved when a wrestler wins a primary WWE title (such as the WWE Championship or Universal Championship), one of whatever tag team championships exist at that time, and both of the secondary titles, which right now are the United States Championship and Intercontinental Championship.
Ambrose won the United States title back in May of 2013 when he was with the Shield, and then held it for longer than anyone else in WWE has. His first Intercontinental title run wouldn’t come until 2015, when he defeated Luke Harper for the strap.
While for a bit there it seemed like the mid-card might be where Ambrose would live forever, he would eventually enter the main event scene and become WWE Champion by first winning the Money in the Bank contract in 2016 and then cashing it in later that night against Seth Rollins, who is both the man who betrayed him for his own benefit and the man he just won the RAW Tag Team Championships alongside.
Not coincidentally, Rollins is also close to joining the ranks of Grand Slam champs. He, like the third of three Shield members you’ll read about here today, Roman Reigns, is just an Intercontinental Championship win away from managing the feat. That doesn’t mean Rollins (or Reigns) will get it, though: not every wrestler gets the opportunities that allow for the Grand Slam, which is how Dean Ambrose is just the 16th ever.
John Cena, who is tied with Ric Flair for the most WWE Championships in hisory, hasn’t done it — he too is missing the Intercontinental belt. Randy Orton is missing a US title run. Kofi Kingston is a primary championship away from pulling it off. Sheamus, who just lost his first tag team title to Ambrose and Rollins, is an IC victory away from a Grand Slam. Lots of wrestlers get close, but far fewer actually finish off the foursome.
Under the old format for the Grand Slam — WWE titles come and go, changing the titles within the Grand Slam format but not the format or concept itself — there were 12 Grand Slam champs: Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Jeff Hardy, John “Bradshaw” Layfield, Christian, and Big Show. Under the current format, there are a few more who qualify: Edge, The Miz, Daniel Bryan, and now, Ambrose.
If you’re interested in the specific dates and titles involved in all of this, Wikipedia has you covered. And if you’ve got the WWE Network, well, you can watch most or all of the matches that made this happen thanks to someone dating all of these victories in a table, taking all of the tough work out of the process for you.
