TWITL - week 3 - gray days with some rain
Tumblr media
MONDAY - 15 January https://flic.kr/p/2psGyKV Miguel Ángel Silvestre en la primera temporada de Los Enviados I finished doing screenshots of MAS in Los Enviados, season 1. Yah! Now I can start season 2 screenshots. Sometimes I wonder why I still do such things. Am I just passing the time? I'm really not going to do anything with ALL the screenshots. I'll pick the best one and edit/filter it then post to IG at some point. I don't share the gallery. Maybe I should... TUESDAY - 16 January Back to work today! Joy? https://flic.kr/p/2oPFSat Miguel Ángel Silvestre en la primera temporado de 30 Monedas 30 Monedas/30 Coins - We finished season two last night! What can I say about the second season? I don't even know quite yet. I hope it gets a third season because I have so many questions!... I will say that Paco was a bit better in this season than last. I think the theme of his life is that his women will not ever really appreciate him and always yell at him. :P I'm being silly but it just seemed like Elena was always yelling at him and Merche was just evil. I couldn't really relate to them at all. Am I supposed to be sympathetic towards Merche? I'm not. Elena almost gets a pass because she has been through some crazy things. Yowsa! WEDNESDAY - 17 January https://flic.kr/p/2psSmJX I do so love when Sully likes comments on his IG posts... It always tickles me when Sullivan Stapleton likes the comments on his IG posts. And as I comment on his IG posts, that means he sees my words. I appreciate that he takes the time to read and like the comments posted on his IG. I find it rather sweet. THURSDAY - 18 January https://flic.kr/p/2pt8tuC William Gregory Lee in the CSI: NY episode "Past Imperfect" So I'm still on a nostalgia wave. HTLJ/XWP on Amazon Prime. My friend Beth asking if she can use my Temple of Ares character in a new story she's thinking of writing. Doing those screenshots of Erik. The 25th anniversary of my most favorite photo taken on Greg's 26th birthday coming up. (WTH, Greg turned 26 that day I was in Santa Monica?! I FEEL SO OLD!) My friend Paula grabbing that creative string to tell a tale from our Temple of Ares days. All of these things are just making me look back with fondness and amusement and gratitude. FRIDAY - 19 January The Wayback Machine at archive.org has been a way for me to look back on those days in the late 90s/early 00s. I found the Temple of Ares and my particular stories archived, which is a great thing since I don't have those stories saved anyway. One day soon I need to do the whole copy and paste thing. Just to have for myself. SATURDAY - 20 January Sweet goodness, the San Francisco 49ers won against the Green Bay Packers tonight. Whew! The hubby got to go to the game. I got to stay home. It was raining out there and I'm mostly glad that I wasn't out at the stadium getting soaked. I'm just not made for that kind of spectating. https://flic.kr/p/2ptCdht me at home; a view from the field; facetime screenshot Oh, I posted the screenshot of the short FaceTime with the hubby and I got a few likes and one comment. The one comment was a "block" gif, as in my post somehow offended the commenter and they would be blocking me. I checked out his profile (because of course it was a man) and apparently his timeline (probably the "for you" one) was showing him a bunch of Niners posts because he had been arguing with Niners fans. My post somehow offended him and he took the time to post a comment with a block gif because why? Perhaps he wanted to argue. I do not argue with assholes. No, I block and then take to my blog to talk shit about them. Here's some advice to those kind of people-- you don't like something, scroll on by. I don't give a flying fuck if you want to block me (and he didn't because I was able to see him). Block me. But if you think that you're going to argue with me on my profile, it's not going to happen. Also, do other football fans not like Niners fans? I am obviously biased but I didn't think we were the kind of fans who annoyed other fans. I consider myself to be a nice person and a reasonable fan. I don't like to talk shit about other teams or their fanbase. Or if I do talk shit, I keep to a tight circle of friends who don't take that kind of stuff personally. Actually, I never talk shit to someone about their team. I don't like spreading negative energy. No, I'll just secretly cheer for their team to lose. I'll admit that much. https://flic.kr/p/2ptCns1 Thomas Beaudoin as L'Expert in Top Dogs While I had the game on, I distracted myself by turning on my VPN so I could watch a Canadian show called Top Dogs. I mostly just skipped to Thomas Beaudoin's scenes to do screenshots. It's all in French so I don't know what they're saying but I get the gist of some of it. Thomas' character seems a little, hmm, awkward? I cannot stop thinking of him as a Clark Kent type and his character in this show is really feeding into the notion. The episodes are short, under fifteen minutes, which made doing screenshots easy enough. I'm already finished with season one. https://flic.kr/p/2ptAsZE One more of Thomas in Top Dogs... I had another dream about Nana's house. I'm not sure what the situation was but we were in it, marveling at how much bigger it was inside than it looked on the outside. For some reason, when I dream about houses, the bedrooms are so much bigger, with such ridiculous proportions. I'm not sure what that's saying about my psyche or subconscious but so it goes. In this dream, the bedroom had two beds in it and the front part had living room furniture so it felt more like a loft or something but it was a bedroom. I think I dreamt of her house because I was wondering the other day what was going on with it. Is someone living there now? Has it been sold? What happened to all of her stuff? Were her things dispersed as payment for taking of her? Did anyone in the family get anything? Are we just supposed to be happy that her funeral was taken care of? SUNDAY - 21 January https://flic.kr/p/2ptLdNa And another one of Thomas Beaudoin in Top Dogs I'm on the second season of Top Dogs. What's going on with Thomas' character? Is he a bad guy now? I'm sure I'd be less confused if I actually spoke some French, eh? https://flic.kr/p/2ptaULE taken on the second floor of the library I've been using Hipstamatic more and since the turn to 2024, I've been posting Hipstamatic shots as my photo of the day for Project 365 (@vasiakiari at IG). This week or so, I discovered the double exposure feature. I'm still learning but a couple of the shots have turned out rather interesting. I'm going to keep practicing. It's fun! https://flic.kr/p/2ptddqn another one from the library I'm having fun on Duolingo but I wonder if I'm learning as fast as I should. I make sure I do a few lessons everyday of Spanish and French. I think having had Spanish in high school helps me a little to do well with the Spanish lessons so I feel like the real challenge is French. I feel like if I really want to stretch myself, I need to watch or listen to more things in Spanish and French. One day, I'd like to know enough to really understand then venture out to learning Italian too. Learning is fun and frustrating! https://flic.kr/p/2psvro9 My busy month is nearly upon me. I have some stuff due for a state report at the end of the month then my transfers begin for the month of February. The questions have already started and I have to remember to be grateful the questions are coming BEFORE open enrollment beings as opposed to AFTER the requests are due. I also have to remember to not be frustrated by the people who don't want to accept the process and the reasoning for why they're not going to get what they want. (You would not believe the entitlement some people have. Or maybe you would believe it.) Everyone should watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It's such a great show! Makes me want to read the books again, which I will probably do after I finish Jessica Simpson's book or after our next book club book... Still need to watch Echo. Is it good?... Hope everyone has a great week! Read the full article

TWITL - weeks fifty-one and fifty-two - end of the year and all of that
Tumblr media
LAST WEEK AND CHRISTMAS WEEKEND Finals week! Well, three days of finals for the students and four days of work for staff. They passed swiftly enough, maybe, even though some shenanigans happened and I'll have families to call when I'm back to work during second week of break. Alas. https://flic.kr/p/2o8ejr5 We spent our Christmas in Carmel by the Sea. We stayed at the Carmel Wayfarer Inn and had Christmas dinner at Flaherty's Seafood Grill & Oyster Bar. We also hit A.W. Shucks Cocktail and Oyster Bar, Mulligan Public House, Alvarado Street Brewery and Bistro, and Brophy's during our stay. I walked through the Coach Outlet store but somehow didn't buy a single thing. Amazing. My thoughts on our accommodations and the places we ate and drank: - Carmel Wayfarer Inn - I read some, hmm, interesting reviews of this place that had me wary of what we would find when we arrived. Lucky for us, we had a very nice room. It was big and had another little room that had two twin beds in it. (We ended up putting our luggage in there and spreading out our clothes, which was super convenient.) We were able to park in the tiny parking lot and since we had no plans to drive around while we were there, it was fine. The inn is older and dated to be sure, but our floors were new, it seemed, and everything was clean. https://flic.kr/p/2o7AbMv Room 8 - A.W. Shucks Cocktail and Oyster Bar - We first visited this bar in April and just loved the whole vibe of it. Of course it had to be our first stop once we had settled into our room. We had the jumbo prawn cocktail and the crabmeat cocktail. For my drink, I chose the mai tai again. It was all so good. I think this needs to always be a place to stop whenever we're in town. Maybe next time I'll actually try some oysters. https://flic.kr/p/2o7yRTg so good - Mulligan Public House - Simply love this Irish bar! As in our previous visit, the ladies were running the place and it was great. I had this super delicious hot drink that had chocolate mix and I think peppermint schnapps? It was freakin' amazing and I had two. We also ate more. I had the kobe beef sliders and onion rings. SOOO good. https://flic.kr/p/2o7zSgu delicious! https://flic.kr/p/2o7zPpc so good! - Alvarado Street Brewery and Bistro - We spent the bulk of our Saturday here because the 49ers were playing and we knew the bar would have the game on. Another place we'll probably always visit whenever we're in town. The game was great (Niners won!) and I had one drink before switching to soda. For food, I had the fish and chips and it was very good. https://flic.kr/p/2o7G5LR mmm, fish and chips! - Brophy's Tavern - This pub was closest to the inn and they were open on Christmas Day! I think we were the first patrons to sit down and we stayed there for awhile, watching yet another football game. I had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. It was a bit much for me but it was very good. I only had one drink, a Madden Mule, I think. https://flic.kr/p/2o7RCCK So good, so very good - Flaherty's Seafood Grill and Oyster Bar - We had Christmas dinner here and it was pretty good. For my drink, I had the Ruby Slipper, which was a delicious concoction. For my appetizer, I chose the bbq oysters, which were so good! My soup was clam chowder and my main entrée was the shellfish risotto. My meal was delicious and filling. Hubby's meal was not as satisfying but I think he enjoyed most of it nonetheless. The restaurant is small and cramped but our table wasn't so bad even though we were flushed up against what should be the bar. https://flic.kr/p/2o7TjvU https://flic.kr/p/2o7SHEg https://flic.kr/p/2o7TDx2 All in all, I loved that we were away for Christmas, spending it at our favorite place. We were smart about booking a dinner reservation but could have probably just had dinner at Brophy's since they were open all day, like a normal day. I was pretty proud of myself, walking out of the Coach store empty-handed. Such will power! THIS WEEK SO FAR I've gotten into the habit of taking the week between Christmas and New Year's Day off and it's been rather glorious. In between cleaning the house (which is a chore I do not enjoy, let me tell you!), I read three or four romance novels. I love the easy reads and wow, Harlequin has a line called DARE that is extra spicy with decent plots. I've been enjoying those very much. ;) We had our annual inspection and extended our lease for another year. Yah! The inspection was quick, less than five minutes. Love it! TV & MOVIES The Witcher: Blood Origin - We watched this in one sitting, I think? I wasn't sure what to expect as some of the review blurbs I read were rather negative. I enjoyed it but I think it could have done with maybe one or two more episodes to round out the plot and characters. Willow - We caught up on this one this week. Even though I do enjoy it for the most part, I still wonder-- why? I don't like being annoyed about characters but lord, the Kit character irritates me. She was less annoying in the latest episode and now Dove (I'll call her that so as not to spoil too much) is the one annoying me. I don't like being annoyed but now that we're however many episodes in, I'll keep watching. National Treasure: Edge of History - I feel like I like this show in a grudging way. It brushes against my impatience with angsty stories. I was going to say with young adult angst but I don't really care for middle aged people angst either. I do enjoy the adventure of the clues and such. The Devil's Hour - I'm very much digging the mindbending vibe of this show. Is it time travel? Is it parallel universes? Is it multiverses? Yeah, it's that kind of show and I don't mind at all. Definitely an intriguing watch. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery - This movie was pretty good. I think I wouldn't have minded watching it in the theatre but missed that little window so streaming it was for me. I have enjoyed mysteries since I was a kid and the whole Agatha Christie-esque feeling of this movie just tickles me. Daniel Craig is fun to watch as Benoit Blanc. Well done! Black Adam - I'm a DC comics girl but not the kind who's read them all. I've only really read the Infinite Crisis run but I know a lot of the characters. I had never heard of Black Adam the character but I was still interested in seeing this movie. I wish it had been better! It had all the elements to be really good (hello, Dwayne Johnson!) but it just didn't hit the right notes for me. My favorite character was Sarah Shahi's because she got to yell at the so-called "heroes," calling them out for their dumbassery. I'm sure I'll watch it again, especially the mid-credit scene. FANGIRL STUFF https://flic.kr/p/2o8tiLF Umm, wow. So apparently Miguel Ángel Silvestre was the popular one at my IG. Am I just fangirling him at the opportune time? My likes numbers are nothing compared to the fan accounts but they're not bad for a mere fangirl like me. As popular as MAS is, his numbers do not compare to the ones I'd get for Sullivan Stapleton. I don't know if Sully is popular now as he was during Blindspot but maybe I'll do a test in 2023 to see if he still gets lots of likes. https://flic.kr/p/2o8E9di All Sullivan Stapleton with Santiago Cabrera sneaking in there... END OF THE YEAR WRAP-UP I don't know that I have any thoughtful words about 2022. I think I had more happy days than not and if I didn't, I think I did have balance, which is always my goal, no matter what. How about some random musings? Yes, let's go with that... - Travel - I traveled more this year than I have in the past. Jamaica, Nevada, then closer to home to Carmel by the Sea. I hope I get out of town just as often next year but we shall see... - Work - So many changes and even though I had a recent disappointment, most of my work life has actually been enjoyable and challenging. My new boss is wonderful (how do I get so lucky with my bosses?), I celebrated 15 years with the district, I get along with my workmates, and I don't dread getting up on work days. We did endure sad times when a long time employee died suddenly. A new person sits in that office now but his presence still lingers... - Technology - I upgraded my Chromebook and my iPhone this year. Still need to put up that iPhone 14 Pro Max review. I am ever fascinated by tech stuff and how I can fit those things in my life... - Drifting friendships - You get older and friends drift in and out of your life. Sometimes you keep in touch. Sometimes you reconnect. It takes effort to maintain relationships and sometimes you have to let go. Sometimes it's a sad thing. Sometimes it's a relief. Sometimes you just shrug and move along. No matter what, I do treasure my friendships and I'm grateful for the people in my life... - Music - I discovered OPM! Well, I happened upon an Apple Music playlist that plays Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and not the old stuff! I've been longing for music with that R&B/pop flavor and so much of the OPM on that Apple Music playlist is just exactly what I want to hear. I don't understand every single word of a song but I can understand the gist. I love discovering new artists... One more day of 2022 to go. I don't think I have any resolutions. I hope for more good days than bad for us all. See you all on the other side! https://flic.kr/p/2o8Qyfj Read the full article
