~2 years later~

of course she was upset that cheol's schedule had been so hectic lately, but she too had been drowning in work. sure it was their careers... but their schedules had ruined not only their first relationship anniversary but also their get-back-together anniversary! they were not even in the same country for BOTH of those dates. it was a bit painful but she had to deal with it.

the greetings for the fan meet went really well with her performance being almost perfect (except for her small wardrobe malfunction when her ripped jeans ripped even more than they should) but fans all got even more excited when they saw her in a much more flattering dress.

some of her celebrity friends came to visit her and of course, pretended to be die-hard fans. even the twitter fans @ yn_hrts and others were also present. this was the happiness of being an idol that she remembered.

it was coming to the end of the fan meet. the stack of gifts she had received were all behind her and she was focused on drawing something on a fan's notebook.

when that fan had moved on, she greeted the next person without looking up. "hi! thank you for waiting and thanks for coming! shall i sign something?"

"yea. could you sign this?" the paper before her was filled with text in black and white. without reading the contents she looked up at the person in front of her.

"CHEOL??"

"hello my love."

"what the hell r u doing here?"

"yn, my dear, please read the paper."

she finally looked down.

"oh my god."

it was a marriage certificate.

the whole room was screaming and she looked to her right.

choi seungcheol, the alpha of kpop and the leader of seventeen, her boyfriend, was on one knee holding a small box with the most beautifully intricate ring she'd ever seen.

"oh my god."

"The first day we met, you tripped and fell into me. But it ended up being me who fell for you first. Your laughter, your kindness, and the way you make every day brighter – it all captured my heart. We've been through so much together, shared our dreams, and faced challenges hand in hand. And through it all, my love for you has only deepened. We had our problems and we had our happiness. And now, I only want to bring you tears of joy and not sorrow. Not now, not ever. Those 3 years of distance from you were our darkest times. Now, I want to be happy together. she was crying. she couldn't believe it. he was proposing? here?

"yn?"

"yes. yes i'll marry you, my cheolie." and she signed the certificate.

"SHE SAID YES!" - hoshi

seungcheol had planned to be the last "fan" for the day, but in his haste, he had accidentally started queuing too early. so yn had to continue the fan meet for the rest of the fans with him sitting beside her.

"congrats on your engagement, yn-noona and seungcheol-oppa!!"

"thank you."

"oh my god i'm so nervous. bn do i look okay? oh my god." - yn

"yn you look great. don't worry so much" - bn

"yn your hair is out of place at the back." - jae

"it's not. i'm just scared that something will go wrong. I want to marry her so badly but what if something goes wrong?" - seungcheol

"we'll be there to sort it out, hyung." - dino

"you're getting married today in the best wedding possible. end of story. stop freaking out." - jeonghan

of course, the wedding went smoothly. cheol's vows made yn cry and yn's vows made seventeen cry. seungcheol was surprisingly very teary when yn put his ring on and he almost burst into tears after their first kiss as a married couple.

the dispatch photographer took so many photos that they had to dedicate almost 10 posts just to this wedding.

when it came to the bouquet toss... who knew that it'd be wonwoo to catch it, leaving mingyu a bright red mess. (luckily the dispatch photographer had left)

they were finally married.

"i'm glad you decided to take a chance with me, seungcheol. because this love we have, you can't find it with anyone else. thank you for loving me, choi seungcheol. today is the day i become choi yn. i've never been happier to be yours."

"thank you, yn, my love, for allowing me to take a chance with you. because you are the one thing i can't lose. i look into your eyes and i see forever. i'm forever yours. i'd be ln seungcheol if you insisted, but seeing how you're so happy to be my mrs choi, i'm so happy i get to call you mine."

it was quite obvious that yn and seungcheol would be invited to numerous interviews. and of course, they went to most of them.

"so who liked who first?"

"we first met when we were trainees because yn's younger brother and childhood friend were friends with our maknae, Dino. yn was a trainee under a different company and... was his name Jae? I'm sorry but my memory of him is very fuzzy. I believe Jae was a trainee with us until he dropped out due to health issues."

"so we knew each other from the start of our trainee days and I debuted the same year as them, so we were quite close, I would say. But I think I fell first."

"no, i definitely did."

the interviewer sat up in her seat. "really? why is that so?"

seungcheol grasped yn's hand. "it was in 2014 when we were meeting up together with the other 95 liners in Seventeen. yn was wearing this winter coat that made her so pretty. I fell instantly. you can ask jeonghan, he'd be more than happy to embarrass me."

this was news to yn, who couldn't help but smile. "so you did fall first."

"so when did you fall for him, yn-sshi."

"when i first saw him perform during one of his dance practices. his presence was so strong and i don't know... he was so attractive."

seungcheol flushed red.

yn was at svt's dorm, celebrating her rekindled relationship with seungcheol.

"finally you both are together again. after 3 long years."

"thanks to hoshi actually. he sped the process up by a lot."

when we look back, what do we see?

it took her many weeks to feel “okay” again. smiling was hard. she cut herself off from seventeen entirely. how could she live if she was the reason she held them back? those two years of pure bliss was holding them back?

how selfish of her.

red would mar her skin as she sat in her bathroom. what day is it? what time is it? why am i not good enough? was i that horrible? was this just overreacting?

she had never dealt with heartbreak before. seungcheol was her first. and she too was his

maybe she was being selfish. how could she have expected him to settle for the first girl he loved? did he even love her? or was she just a trial to him?

he was running. he had her tweet notifications on and the second he saw that, he had bolted out of his dorm.

"coups where are you going?"

"to her."

he ignored the cheers behind him as he scrambled for his keys. he begged that her address was still the same. he couldn't lose her again.

she felt stupid for being so quick to jump to hatred. hatred was easy. love was hard. like him, she chose the "easy" way out. so she sent that tweet. if he really did still want her, he would come. her address hadn't changed. it was her painful memory of how she lost him.

"please..."

the doorbell rang.

they stood face to face. this was the first time they had been that close since their breakup 3 years ago.

he's here... she drew in a sharp breath.

she's so pretty... just like how i remember her. he let out a lovesick sigh.

i won't lose him/her again

before either of them knew it, they were kissing. she was almost crying and he was holding her as if she was his last breath of air. for the first time in 3 years, they felt like they were home.

"do you... want to stay over?"

"do you want me to?"

"yes."

"okay then I will."

her apartment looked the same and yet different. the photos were new. there were trophies. there were awards. and yet one photo frame made his head spin and heart swell. their 1st anniversary photo. they had made that photo frame together and had mingyu take their photo. she kept that photo frame on her bedside table.

"I didn't move out. I could have. I was asked to. But I didn't."

"why?"

"I didn't want to lose my last traces of you."

"yn. yn I'm sorry."

"I know it wasn't your fault. but why didn't you... why didn't you come back to me, seungcheol?"

god he loved the way his name sounded from her lips.

"I thought. I thought you wouldn't want me back."

she laughed. god her laugh... he missed it so much.

"I guess we were both idiots, huh?"

"I guess so."

they lay side by side (hehe minghao) on her bed. it was uncomfortable, given that it was a single bed.

"do you... do you maybe want to..."

"?"

"do you want me to hold you?"

she froze. the answer was yes but she couldn't force the word out. she wanted him to hold her. so so badly. but why couldn't she answer him?

"forget it. that was a we-"

she was in shock. he still... he still loved her? but how could he? how could he. 3 years. it had been 3 years. how could he say he had always loved her if he left her without a word? what excuses did he have? the more curious she was, the more her heart hurt. it was as if it knew she would get hurt again.

Jeonghan put his head in his hands. All he wanted was for seungcheol to STOP talking about how he missed yn. How did it result in this?????????????? Nothing was going the way he thought he would. He made Minghao send those red flowers in hopes that yn would think they were from Seungcheol. But what happened instead? SOMEONE ELSE SENT FLOWERS. BETTER FLOWERS. she was so in love with him that it hurt. what went wrong 3 years ago? the day that seungcheol broke up with her, she lost her mind. they were perfectly fine on their second anniversary. she still remembered how they slept together, a perfect fit in each other's arms. where did it go wrong? where did she choke up along the way?

they made eye contact. the whole time, his eyes were glued on her. the tension was suffocating, for it reminded her of her pain. but the softness of his gaze made her miss him. how could one love someone so much, to the point where she began to cry on stage. it was always this song that made her cry. she wrote it 2 years ago when she was in her "Bargaining" stage of grief. oh how she wished that he would just appear one day and apologise for leaving her. but he didn't. she tried to put the song in her new album but couldn't bear showing the world her pain. now she felt that she should have released it early, maybe if she did, they'd have gotten back together. why was he here?

she wiped her tears as she came to to chorus. no one was laughing at her vulnerability. no one made fun of her heartbreak. no one did that. no one did what her ex-manager said they would do. they empathised with her. her fans cared.

yn stirred, feeling an unfamiliar warmth and the slow, steady breaths of another.

fuck... what happened last night... her whole body was sore and she could feel the person stir.

"morning, yn." oh. last night wasn't a dream. she couldn't help but hold back her tears. he was here. he was in her arms.

"morning, cheollie."

she felt him stiffen. perhaps it was too soon to call him like that. but after what they did last night, why would it be?

he planted a kiss to the top of her head.

"my yn, does this mean we're together again?"

"i..." she breathed in.

"yes, my cheollie."

after that, seungcheol had to go. his comeback album, 'Face the Sun" was released.

"so are you both going to do a slow reveal soft launch thing or hard launching it?"

"i'm letting yn make that decision. if i had to choose, i'd hard launch right now but i don't think yn is comfortable with that yet."

"isn't she coming over today? for like a tiktok dance collab thing?"

"no hoshi, it's a special darl+ing recording ft. yn"

"oh."

it had been so long. Seventeen hadn't actually spoken to yn for so long. so when she stepped into the recording studio, they finally realised how much they had actually missed her presence.

jeonghan missed her crafty personality. joshua missed how she laughed at all his antics. BSS missed how she was like their older sister. wonwoo missed gaming with her. woozi missed discussing music with her. jun and minghao missed eating chinese food with her. vernon missed their silent movie nights. dino missed his "noona".

they didn't know it, but they all had already bonded with her over those few years. she was there since their start. they'd known her since the start, when she had been a trainee -- their friend.

yn was home. she was home and there for their leader.

"i want our relationship to hard launch now, cheollie. I'm ready."

they had been dropping hints for months, starting with his voice in her special title track release. their most recent one was of their beach date (with the 12 wheels of svt)

"are you sure?"

"yea."

"but the hate comments you've been receiving..."

some... lesser fans of svt had been leaving hate comments on yn's posts, claiming she'd ruin SVT's image. popular ones were

"stop stealing our idols." "bitch." "lame. your songs don't even make sense." "cry me a river..." "stop ruining svt's image." "leave svt alone..." "whore."

she didn't care. she had THE alpha leader, Choi Seungcheol wrapped around her finger. why would she care? this leader let her buy whatever she wanted with his money to "make up for every birthday he missed". this leader went soft in her arms and held her like she was the most precious thing on earth. this leader loved her. not them. so why would she care? she had him and they didn't.
