What do you think of lw1? What's your favourite part, and what you think could have been improved?

I'm SO glad that LWs1 is back! Unfortunately I missed it around the original launch and my brain likes to misinterpret things to the extreme (i mean... initial idea of scarlet was that she was our friend who sacrificed herself to save the world???? Come onnnnn) so the season being back? Awesome.

I don't like that they changed Canach introduction. I understand that some things may be difficult to set up now, buuuuttttt I can still not like the outcome. I think I read someone (but as always I don't remember who...) once point out that new canon-wise, we weren't there when the Karka crisis (karkasis if you will) took place, which makes us complete dicks to Canach. "Oh I heard you did bad things, I'm gonna show you attitude". - basically this. But to be honest, this is my hear say, I never got to actually check how it actually was in game because I never remember :(

Also I just like Canach and I wish he was there with me already :(

My favourite part of LWs1 is definitelly getting to know the squad, I get puppy-happy when I'm seeing them in their old models. Does this make sense? Also currently I am screaming about Scarlet's voice over in Tower of Nightmares. I love how this creeps-inducing menacing giggling turns into this low tone, when I feel like the mask is cracking and showing that it's not all fun and games to her. I also really love the idea of a villain using illusions of friends/family to plant doubt in the hero which ToN update really does well. I wish we got more of this kind of stuff, but, according to an old Polish saying - too much is unhealthy - it would probably get boring if it was overused.

In conclusion, I like lws1, I hope to see Canach introduction soon or else 🔪🔪🔪, I love seeing old baby squad and getting to know Scarlet better. I wish they handled Karka crisis differently but no can do now.

• he's got a tattoo, technically! Is very small and there's a few scars obscuring it by now. I've never been able to settle in what the tattoo is, he won't tell me o(-< but it's a tattoo he got twice, first time it was carved off. Second time was in defiance of that. The tattoo is on his scalp, hidden by hair, just a bit behind his ear.

• He didn't care for hobbies. This man literally has none aside from his constant planning and lying. His whole life is geared toward his survival!

It's Carys time!!

- Carys' Jade Mech, Sparky, actually started out as an Asuran Golem! He was made by a talented Golemancer, overseen by Asuran Commander Voxxa, in order to help Carys monitor the Inquest-tech arm that Myrr has. Since then, Carys has tinkered with and tweaked him to add on a bunch of new features, and after her and her dads went on vacation in Cantha, Sparky was given an upgraded Jade Mech form! Carys can swap his Core between the Golem, a Jade Bot form, and the Mech form, depending on what she needs him to do!

- While Carys is a Mender, and spends most of her time in a fight healing others, she is quite adept at using firearms! Myrr in particular has taught her a lot about using rifles, and her style in using them is more akin to a Deadeye's than an Engineer's. - While Bryok and Myrr often mention Carys as their adopted daughter, the truth is more that she adopted them. Originally Carys was just the Mender in charge of keeping an eye on Myrr's condition regarding his prosthetic limbs, but eventually she became very attached to him and Bryok. At some point she slipped up and called one of them "Dad", and well. The rest is history!

Bonus:

- She's only lit the kitchen on fire the ONE TIME. The second time was Sparky's fault, not hers, and that's the truth. Even if Myrr is a big meanie and disagrees

One of my favourite romantic sylvari headcanons is them wearing each other's flora/foliage. Like a few stray branches in their clothing that don't match their own, or a few blossoms here or there that belong to their partner. Couples who have to spend long times apart growing out a piece of clothing to give to each other when they can next meet again. Romantics who might spend long periods of time cultivating blooms from their hair to make into a bouquet as a gift for them.

It had been a long day at the soap shop, and everyone was exhausted by the time the sign was flipped to "closed". So many people had stopped in to pick up last minute gifts, and many were not as patient as they could have been about the shop being low or out of products at that point in the day. "Does anyone want to actually go out and celebrate tonight?" Leyya asked as she watched Odetta come into the back and slouch into a chair. "Sheesh, kill the vibe more." This came from the meerkat perched in a tube near the ceiling. "No one asked you, Cepir. And you lost your stupid hat." "Ah! My fez!" From the other end of the table, Zojja shook her head and laughed. "Don't let him wind you up like that. Besides, there's still time to freshen up. Soon as Sheridan's done, one of us can." "Don't worry about me." Odetta finally looked up from where she had collapsed onto the table, head on her folded arms. "I'm not going anywhere but to bed with the leftover scones and tea." Zojja glanced from Odetta to Leyya, as the other asura shrugged. "But what about Zio and Iialli..?" "He's new, so of course he got assigned duty tonight. And Iialli is busy at Pheazza's because a ship came in with new inventory." "I see..." Leyya looked up as Mabon drifted in from the kitchen, sporting an apron that read "Mursaat do it Unseen". "You two have a good time," Odetta said as she made herself smile. "It sounds like you're in for a lovely night." "Thank you Odetta." Sheridan stopped briefly to give the woman a hug, as Mabon worked his magic to transfigure himself into a tall male sylvari with silvery birch skin. "We'll see you later!" "We should be off as well." Zojja got up from her seat. "Don't want to be late, after all." Leyya reached out to pat Odetta's hand. "I'm sure you'll have a nice evening in spite of everything," she said. "Chin up." Odetta watched them depart, locked the door behind them, and then set herself to cleaning the shop. Once that was done, she retreated into the kitchen to finally make herself tea, only to hear someone knocking. "You gonna get it?" She sighed before looking up at Cepir, who was lounging in his 'kitchen globe', an orb that Mabon had crafted and added to the pipe network so he could be included when everyone gathered in there. "I am considering it." "Well consider faster. They're knocking hard enough to rattle the walls." She rolled her eyes, but went to the door. She unlocked it and pulled it open hard, eyes shut while raising her voice. "We are closed-" "Even for Valentine's gifts?" She finally opened her eyes. Iialli was smirking and holding a box of chocolates, while Zio was standing over her and grinning as well, a bouquet held in his hands. "I... I thought you two had work," she finally managed. "Phee said she would manage without me. Can't speak for him." "I let the Zio charm do the work for me." Odetta folded her arms across her chest. "So you're in trouble." "Probably." sitting afk and thinking about sylvari grief. I'm sure the grove did something for Trahearne when they found out he had died. whether that was some kind of ceremony or event or just a day where the world felt unbearably dark and heavy. there was some period of mourning until it felt okay to move on.

I'm enjoying thinking about the physical aspects of grief and mourning for them, the idea of sylvari wilting, their flowers falling off, foliage drying and shriveling and turning to nothing. sort of like a bouquet after a funeral. eventually the flowers die and you're left with a bunch of twigs and empty vases you don't know what to do about.

and of course it would've varied from one to the other; not everyone knew him well. to some he was a best friend, a brother, a confidante... do you think Amaranda the Lonesome felt his loss right away, or did someone go out and tell her when they thought of it after? the other firstborn, those of them left in the grove, do you think they felt a shudder they couldn't quite explain until the news hit, later? a cold dread that made sense, once someone told the grove? do you think the Pale Tree just knew, began weeping for her firstborn and couldn't bring herself to explain it?

Alba took it poorly, as Trahearne's lover and the one tasked with killing him in the first place. "he didn't want to" is an understatement; he all but begged Trahearne not to ask it of him, but he also knew how stubborn Trahearne was, that he would just pass the task on to the next person. and as much as he didn't want it to be himself, as badly as he wanted to say no, we're not doing that and haul Trahearne out of the damned jungle himself, Alba also knew that there was a chance he was right, and that it had to be done. and he didn't wish that task on anyone. and he also didn't want to hate someone else for it.

I'm sure everyone close to him knew that he was mourning, but I think none of them grasped the extent of it. knowing he and Trahearne were lovers was one thing, recognizing that he drastically changed physically after the fact and making that connection was another. his foliage turned white for a while, stopped growing, wilted. i like to think he had flowers in his foliage before as well, little yellow buds that stopped growing back. his glow became faint. the depression he sank into was visible but I think his guildmates and friends, if they realized that's what it was, didn't know how to approach it with him, so it went largely ignored for a long time. Canach, as The Sylvari in his inner circle for a long time kept being prodded to check on him -- "how's he... doing?" "ask him yourself, why don't you." -- was irritated by the situation and trying to be sympathetic, but damn if it didn't start to feel like time to wrap it up after a while. and things felt rocky enough between them without Canach also having to play middleman to every well-intentioned fool who wanted to check in on Alba without bothering him personally.

and they still had things to do. he still had a job to do, and while people could be understanding to a degree, he didn't get to go hide away in solitude for a decade to recover like he would have liked to; he had things to command and work to wrap up. life went on. the world turned, or didn't. in the grand scheme of things, what's one person gone?

he probably only started to regain his color and luster again in the coming year, after Aurene hatched. even then he didn't feel right and didn't look like himself for a long while. even now sometimes he sees his reflection and wonders how things might have turned out if he'd refused to do the deed, bloody his hands or anyone else's with Trahearne's death.

So uh... I might have thought earlier today while playing around in the CC (as you do) “Oh you know what would be hilarious? If Snargle was a divorced dad who had a moody teenage daughter who ends up hunting him down all the way to Cantha because he’s late on his alimony payments, and shenanigans ensue.” and now I’m literally obsessed with Snargle’s middle-aged human husband and their 16-year old charr daughter.

So meet Penelope “Penny” Goldfang. She’s lived with her human papa in Lion’s Arch ever since her dads got divorced when she was ten, and only occassionaly sees her charr dad, most of the time only when he happens to be in town to promote his latest books. 

That’s only one of the reasons why their relationship is... strained, to say the least. Not like she cares, of course! She thinks her old man is annoying and embarassing anyways.

She’s also going through a bit of an identity crisis, poor bby - you see even though she’s a charr, she knows next to nothing about actual charr society since she grew up in Lion’s Arch among mostly humans, mostly raised by her human papa, and with mostly human friends. While she identifies strongly with the human culture she grew up in the fact remains though that she is a charr, and while she sticks out like a sore thumb among her friends she sticks out among fellow charr just as much - making it hard for her to feel like she belongs anywhere. And maybe there is resentment towards dad Snargle too in that regard, since he never really made an effort to share their heritage with her either (considering Snargle doesn’t seem to really fit into charr culture either you can hardly blame him but she is still mad.)

Luckily she finds a (questionable?) Charr role model in @sylvari-bouquet’s Rulla eventually, who saves Penny from a bunch of Unchained in New Kaineng and ends up becoming her necromancy mentor, and while Penny initially doesn’t realize what she’s gotten herself into she does end up getting real fond of Rulla because at least she feels like she’s being taken seriously for the first time ever.

Because NO, DAD, necromancy is NOT A PHASE!! UGH!!!

(Also human dad’s name is Brutus and he’s an ex bookstore employee turned lionguard captain, which in Penny’s eyes makes him a boring stickler for rules but at least he’s a doting dad and always there for her - unlike SOME people....)

Freya! She loves Dragonbash. Most often you will find her in the arena, or smashing piñatas with her friends. Freya also likes drinking and eating competitions (my headcanon for additional activities).

😭 CRYING - what makes them cry? do they cry easily? He is incredibly contained and will not allow himself to be overcome by strong emotions. Heavy grief is mostly the only thing that can make him tear up. There are things and people he cares deeply about, and losing any of those would definitely do the trick.

🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it? He is both incredibly minimalistic when it comes to material possessions and a big follower of the idea that the past should be left behind to the point where some would argue he is actually running from it. But even if he had anything, it definitely got lost during the court collapse. He didn't think much about them in the future though.

🌋 VOLCANO - how bad is their temper? is it a slow boil, or a instant explosion? Absolutely slow boil. He is excellent at containing and controlling his emotions and anger, will always try to stay clear-minded and reasonable as long as possible.

🙊 SPEAK-NO-EVIL - what is something your oc will refuse to stay quiet about? Do not mention the teachings of Ventari to him unless you are ready to sit down for a two-hour presentation about How The Unflexible Interpretation Of These Tenets Ruined Sylvari Society.

🙉 HEAR-NO-EVIL - what is the worse thing your oc could hear from someone? News of a death of a loved one.

🎁 PRESENT - what types of presents would they be most happy to receive? are they good at gift-giving? He is a big fan of calligraphy, so quality ink, paper and pen will always be a solid choice for him. While he himself may not be the most creative when it comes to gifting, he is excellent at remembering small details. You off-handily mentioned him once that you like a certain scented soap? You're getting one on your birthday.

💓 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing? Incredible amounts of stress or a nice ass.

💚 GREEN HEART - what things make your oc feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food? Company - having someone trusted around will help him calm down and relax. But a few slices of warm blackberry pie will also do.

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticeable? what changes when they're in love? Romance isn't really part of how he experiences connections to others, I don't think he ever had a crush on anyone. His love towards others is mostly signalled by how much he is willing to open up about his weaknesses and worries, and how much trust he places in a person. It's not going to be noticeable from the outside, but the person in question will know.

🙊 SPEAK-NO-EVIL - what is something your oc will refuse to stay quiet about? Unfairness and unsportsmanlike behaviour will always make him speak up. He's very heavily against both.

🙉 HEAR-NO-EVIL - what is the worse thing your oc could hear from someone? Death of a loved one is the worst but any news of danger or injury will get him worried sick and restless.

🎁 PRESENT - what types of presents would they be most happy to receive? are they good at gift giving? He doesn't like giving or receiving gifts at all. Absolutely horrid gift-giver. Unless you like little whittled figurines.

💓 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing? Way too many things, he's a very anxious man. There are a lot of emotions boiling under the surface, so even if not shown, his heart will start racing at any worrying news, heated debates, sudden compliments, a show of intimacy, the list goes on.

💚 GREEN HEART - what things make your oc feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food? While he isn't very approachable in general, hugs from friends or cuddles and kisses from a partner are great ways to comfort him.

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticeable? what changes when they're in love? Not noticeable at all - he doesn't care about crushes too much aside from recognizing that he finds someone attractive. When in love, if you know him you might notice that he more actively seeks out the person he has feelings for, and if you are that person, you will see him trying to open up more and be more curious about you, trying to get to know you. Other than that, he doesn't make a fuss out of it. He thinks he is not worthy of love anyway, so why bother.

He is the kind of person who will be happy about any gift, since he only cares about the fact that someone thought of him. His gifts to others might not be the most creative but they are always nice, thoughtful ones.

💓 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing? Fyarh will stay calm at most news and situations but is incredibly easily flustered. Hearty encouragements, compliments, light flirting will all make him laugh nervously and glow up a little. He barely survives romantic situations without a heart attack.

💚 GREEN HEART - what things make your oc feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food? The reassurance that he can rely on or can burden the people around him with whatever is bothering him. Giving him a distraction, offering to hang out to take his mind off of something can also be very effective.

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticeable? what changes when they're in love? So very noticeable. He will try to act calm and composed and he thinks he is good at hiding it. But he'll be giggling and glowing a bit too much, with eyes lingering too long. He also has a slight crush on every second person he sees.

When he is in love though. In a way, it's much sadder because love has weight, and it's a weight he doesn't know what to do with. His wyld hunt never let him worry about anything else besides his One Great Task, so he constantly struggles with commitment issues in other parts of his life. I think I just wanted something guild wars -related that wasn't just one of my ocs, and I really love sylvari, so having a lot of sylvari characters is like having a bouquet of them.

Potter-series would be the easy answer here because of the reasons everyone knows. Probably another answer would be some children's books, like The Famous Five, Ronia the Robber's Daughter, Peter Pan, that I really loved as a kid but going back to them is like "wow these were really books of their age in some really bad ways"
