THIS is my darling angel baby, the Connection v4.5 in T-purple w/ pink colorway! It came with the little charms, though I had to de-flock and repaint the monkey. I am currently playing this one.

This is my second fav child, the Uni in Blue! I am also playing this one rn.

This is my Gen 2 2018 rerelease in (P2 in some circles) in Flower (Blue) Gingham colorway! I am not currently playing this one. I can really only keep two tamas alive at a time.

Finally, this is my red headed stepchild (because of the mini game it has) the Gen 1 2017 rerelease (P1) in Candy (Rainbow) Swirl colorway! I am not playing this one either.

Forgot to post about this! My friend went to Japan recently and brought me back this! I’m a little young to have had the original Tamagotchi when it first came out (I had the Connection v3, v4, and v4.5 in elementary school) so this is my first time running an original!

Hopefully I remember enough Japanese to know what I’m doing 😂

Last week, I sent an email to Bandai about the possibility of rereleasing the Tamagotchi Connection line next year for the 20th anniversary. This was their response:

As confirmed by others, this isn't just a generic bot response.

If you also want to contact Bandai for a Tamagotchi Connection rerelease, look here. With enough of us, we might be able to make it happen! Don't spam though, and be respectful.

Go into detail about the high demand for the Connections on the secondhand market. (They often go for $100 USD or more, especially the Connection v4/v4.5, which are considered some of the best Tamagotchi devices ever released.)

Mention that the 20th anniversary of the Connection series is next year (2024).

I'm hoping for the best, but I'm prepared for potential disappointment.

Tamagotchi Connection: The “Lucky” parameter

There’s a hidden care parameter in the Tamagotchi Connection releases (V1- V4.5 and the Keitai series), “Lucky”, that is fixed from the start of each generation. There are 5 levels, the higher this value is the more likely you are to get good care characters from the matchmaker.

In the Plus / V1 - V3:

The first generation, your luck is random. 

In the following generations, it depends on the luck of both parents. If you marry through connection, your luck will most likely increase; it will never be the lowest value and it will be closer to the higher value of the 2.

However, if you marry through the matchmaker, your luck will most likely drop to the lowest value, making it impossible for you to get anything other than Frail and Stubborn partners from the matchmaker in the following generations.

Love / Connection marriages are meant to be the main method for progressing to the next generation. The matchmaker is meant to be a last resort, and you are punished for using it. If you can only use the matchmaker, you will end up finding it hard to get good teens and Serious tier adults.

Keitai Series:

Same as above, except they are not as harsh when it comes to using the matchmaker. In my experience, the luck value doesn’t go down from using it.

The luck value has a second use in these versions: the betting / default connection game. If your luck is higher than your opponent’s, you are more likely to win.

V4 and V4.5:

Tiers are not as much of a thing in these, so the luck value is unnecessary in these. However, these are known to get glitchy when it comes to the partners offered by the matchmaker.

The only times I’ve had it happen to me is when I married mine to an older version. This makes me think these marriages set the luck value to an invalid number, making unintended characters appear.

I turned off the purple uni to focus on the smart, but then my english patch stuff for the smart got like, lost in customs forever or something, so I turned that off too, and I've just now started my blue uni. every time it's evolved so far I've been like "what the fuck is that thing" but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get milktchi as the adult so. that's fine.

I'm kinda torn between wanting to run one of my mixes and wanting to run one of my connections. I don't have access to any of them right now, of course. I know one of them is a v3 and I think the other is a 4.5? like I remember it having the star antenna, but I can't for the like of me remember what shell, just that it was blue. none of the ones online look right.

I thought maybe I'd just buy another v4.5 but then I looked on ebay and they're all like fucking $200 or more. so I will not be doing that.

I could've sworn I had way more connections than just two. I swear I had at least three, but a few years back when I went looking for them I only found the two. maybe I'm just remembering looking at all the tamagotchi at target and wishing I could buy them.
