The Billionaire's Baby fascinates me. They wrote the whole Daphne and Estelle situation, which any sane person should be able to recognize for what it is: an extremely emotionally abusive relationship, in which Estelle controls literally every aspect of her daughter's life, including her job, her marriage, her relationships, her social media, her diet. Daphne wants to be a photographer, but she works as a model, because her mother wants her to. She stays in an unloving marriage, because her mother wants her to. She gets a baby she's not ready for, because her mother wants her to. For all we know, this has been going on since Daphne was a baby. So they wrote all of that down, right? And then they just. Barely acknowledged it. Best we got was MC thinking/saying Estelle is annoying and kind of a bitch. Neither the characters nor the narrative treat the situation with nearly the level of gravity it actually warrants. It's like there's a huge three headed goat demon in the living room, and all the tenants ever do about it is vaguely acknowledge its existence once in a while before going on about their day as if nothing has happened. Fucking bonkers.

honestly I think Daphne is the only reason I can kinda enjoy playing The Billionaire’s Baby? Like while MC and Cole/Callie are living in a romantic dramedy, Daphne’s stuck in a domestic thriller and no one else in her life seems to realize it!!! She’s trapped in a loveless marriage. Her surrogate is stealing her spouse. She has to break up with the one man who seemingly knows her better than anyone else. Her mother is constantly looming behind her, digging her nails into her shoulders, reminding her of how she’s failing to be the perfect model and obedient daughter. And now her mother is forcing her to have a baby, even though she’s never wanted children, because it’s supposed to save her marriage and enhance her public image. But the baby wants nothing to do with her; she can’t hold her own daughter without the baby crying. She can be held by every other person in her life without issue, but not her own mother. Daphne has to live with the knowledge that she’s helped to bring a child into this world and that girl is going to grow up understanding her mother (or one of them, if you’re playing with Callie) has never wanted her, as opposed to how Estelle has made Daphne her entire life in the worst way possible. It’s so insane it makes me lose my MIND 😵‍💫

So you’re telling me that you’re married and nearly just made out with a potential surrogate for you and your wife and after nearly locking lips with said surrogate you tell your wife to cancel all potential other interviews and offer her no compromises so that you can choose the surrogate to be the woman you nearly just made out with…… yeah you were 100% planning to cheat

There's no reason for the LI to be married. They could have easily have a rich single billionaire wanting to start a family without a spouse because they've been burned one too many times by gold diggers and they meet mc through the surrogacy company. That would have been cute!
Instead they're probably going to write Daphne (the wife) to be infertile, a bitch and a loosely arranged business partner marriage much like the Daltons and Sofia were in TNA. Which will come off very misogynistic, especially for those with a male LI, I mean a guy leaving his infertile wife for the surrogate?? But why am I not surprised? This cheating affair thing must be somebody in pb's kink 🙄

it's wild how badly choices fans will bend over backwards to defend cheating, and acting like the books that come out have been wildly different, and not the same smutty affair books.
am i crazy for not being okay with all the cheating-based plotlines and abusive relationships that they're romanticizing??
it'd be one thing if they actually let the characters be morally grey, but they're acting like the the MC's and LI's are never in the wrong because the person they're screwing over (usually a woman) is a little bit mean or also doing something bad, even if they didn't know it while they were cheating.
if you're gonna make a story about cheating, at least go all in and make it messy and human. maybe it'd at least be a little interesting that way.

I thought about sharing what's been my view during the last few days... I can't believe how much I needed to leave the big city for a while, my stress levels have mostly gone and the only reason I think I won't get rid of the constant exhaustion it's because I won't have enough days to sleep and fully recover! 😂
Tumblr media
Anyway, I'm not dead, I'm here, and I so want to have time to read all your wonderful fics and stories, but as I've been so exhausted, the moment I try to pick anything to read I start falling asleep and it sucks (it's not that your stories are boring, it's just that I'm too tired! 😂).
During my time out I've managed to read some Choices' chapters though. And of course, I have some opinions no one asked for (but I need to share them anyway):
ALPHA is EVERYTHING Wolf Bride should have been. It was such a fun reading! But let me tell you, I'm going to need many answers in Book 2, Book 1 left too many unsolved questions.
I also managed to read THE BILLIONAIRE'S BABY. My biggest issue was that I didn't understand certain dialogues and attitudes because they weren't consistent with the game I was playing. I ended up restarting the book and that's when I realized that if you don't pick any diamond scenes until the story forces the MC and the LI to hook up, everything makes much more sense. I mean, the book is still awful (especially the ending... that was so "wtf?!?"), but at least now I kind of understand what I read.
The last book I finished was SHIP OF DREAMS. It's not a terrible book, it's not a mind-blowing book, it's OK. I can't compare it to the Storyscape story because I never read that one, but I honestly didn't expect the plot to be different to the movie, so no surprises there. The amount of smut was completely unnecessary, I think it ruined a lot of moments, especially because the characters in the book had very nice personalities that could have been further developed: both the nice guys and the villains were on point. The ending? Disappointing, as it didn't solve one of the big conflicts in the book.
Right now I'm reading UNBRIDED. Man... what did they do to Mandy? By the end of Untamable, she was the LI of my MC's brother, and then suddenly she becomes a LI for my new MC? It took a lot of chapters to understand what had happened between the end of Book 1 and the beginning of Book 2. Awful move! That should have been explained at the very beginning of the story! I also hate, hate, HATE the fact that you can't be a genuinely nice person without having some romance involved. Most of the time there is no choice and that makes me feel super limited in my game. Finally, I don't understand why the MC is so scared of telling everyone her secret. I didn't expect to get a good book here, but even if the story makes sense, I'm so limited in my choices that I end up feeling I can't play the book the way I want to and that kind of ruins the experience.
Anyway, I hope to be able to return to this little corner soon. I miss being here, but the constant exhaustion is not helping. I can't even keep up with all Choices' releases as I used to as I fall asleep mid chapter, so I'm reading books that have at least 10 chapters completed and that's kind of working better at the moment. I miss my life from a few years ago, where I was tired, but I had time to share stuff here. I'm on my way to fix it, but I really need my body to cooperate for it to work! 😅

🤣🤣🤣 when your wife divorces you and doesn’t immediately promise that you’ll still be in your daughter’s life. and now you also need to keep pretending on social media that everything is fine otherwise your messy divorce will go public and make your life even more miserable. and you also have to pack your things and leave even though you live in a fucking mansion and there’s no reason why you can’t sleep in a guest room all the way at the other end of the house for one singular night 🤣🤣🤣

‘The Billionaire's Baby is gross right out of the gate. They meet and less than an hour later s/he's trying to kiss MC. They're moving way too fast in these books. There's no buildup. "Oooh. They're hot. Let's get nasty." So stupid.’

I'm going to be rude AF and angry as hell under the cut
Fuck this book. Fuck the people that wrote this book and the fucking trash this book is. Fuck every person at PB that this book went through to get a release.
It makes me so angry, there is NOTHING redeeming about this book. It's a dumpster fire that pushed out the carbon that destroyed the human race.
FUCK THIS BOOK, SEND IT TO HELL.
