NOTES ; this will consist of ideas and prompts for both ophelia and midori ( @salveden ) under the readmore cut. these are from the current mission board plus personal threads ( which, due to my lack of inspiration concerning toa , will mainly be of an alternate universe ). more might be added soon or in the near future.

mission board interests ; sword +1 ( taken by xander ) , lance +1 , gauntlets +1 , flying +1 , and any weapon +1 personal thread interests ( all detailed below ) ; grishaverse au , pjo au , cosplay & impersonation seminar , modern au , palm reading , royal cultures & their homeland comforts — grishaverse au ; ophelia is a trained squaller from the second army who , during an undercover mission with fellow grisha , was abducted on a fjerda coast and taken to ketterdam where he now serves as an indentured soldier to a councilman of the merchant council. — pjo au ; ophelia is the demigod sondaughter of odin and hecate who , thanks to his close parents’ relationship , was taught of his destiny at a young age before being sent to camp half blood as a teenager now serving under a prophecy. — cosplay & impersonation seminar ; to the slight concern of the staff , ophelia has been given permission to host a seminar on the art of theatre. he’s teaching students the ropes of quick wardrobe changes , attitude adjustments , and being able to impersonate anyone. well , to a fault. — modern au ; has multiple verses but the main is that ophelia is a high school graduate going into college as a mathematics major and a history minor. he’s has a d&d club after school as well as being the owner of an adorable black cat , hamlet. — palm reading ; students skeptical of ophelia’s ability to tell the future , so to cast belief on their views , he decides to set up a palm reading and future foretelling business. does he know what he’s doing ? no , but that’s not important. — royal cultures & their homeland comforts ; ophelia wants to come out to everyone as the princess of ylisse but isn’t sure how a proper princess should represent their country if they never been there. this thread will most likely need to be done w someone who’s royalty or close to one since ophelia wouldn’t listen to someone who hasn’t lived that life.

mission board interests ; sword +1 ( taken by eir ), lance +1 , riding +1 , authority +1 , bow +1 , faith +1 personal thread interests ( all detailed below ) ; grishaverse au , pjo au , herb collecting & documenting , how to be a doctor 101 , to train or not to train , teacher’s helper , and we call this fluffy fluff — grishaverse au ; midori is a heartrender that split with the healer courses due to her unwillingness to hurt others. when her division of the class was attacked , midori was taken safely to novyi zem where she now travels alongside a caretaker ( assigned by her parents who are in the army ) to spread her knowledge on healing and medicine. — pjo au ; midori is the demigod daughter of apollo , given to kaze as a baby so she can be protected. at a young age , she was taught self-defense. she has a pretty good relationship w her godly parent , although they’ve only talked to each other a few times. currently , she’s at camp half blood under a prophecy rumor and safety. — herb collecting & documenting ; in a new continent, midori quickly needs to make note of the new herbs used and foraged. of course, she usually travels on these collecting trips alone, but having a partner or two is always fun! if you know absolutely nothing about these topics, then she can turn the trip into a series of tutoring lessons; maybe teach you a medicine idea or two. — how to be a doctor 101 ; i rock with the idea of midori holding a seminar on the basis of medicine and herb gathering. welcome for all students and staff, of course. she’ll most likely have it take place in the forest, where her “students” will prepare their backpacks and journals before heading on a field trip. — to train or not to train ; while she’s well versed in healing and supporting allies with medicine, midori’s also quite the archer. except... well, she’s been a bit lazy with her training lately. this won’t do, of course! she’s up to a training or sparring session, preferably with weapons she’s comfortable with: long ranged. — teacher’s helper ; midori’s applied to the monastery as a student, but also as an assistant to any teacher in need of one! are you a professor who’s stuck in too much of a workload? you might need a green-haired girl with a large apothecary travel case on her back! — we call this fluffy fluff ; just... any soft thread that consists of midori making / meeting friends, taking care of an animal, or learning about classmates and peers. she’s a generally helpful individual and, in a new setting surrounded by strangers, it’s inevitable that she’ll do her best to give everyone a good first impression.

ZINE - brief and research

The Brief

A Zine is a self-Published, non-commercial print-work that is produced in small batches which usually covers a variety of topics from politics, sexuality and humor to personal ideas and thoughts.  The purpose of a zine is to be expressive and to take a creative approach to an idea or topic.  These Zines can be digitally designed and printed, or created from scratch at home.

The purpose of this brief is to create a Zine with a theme or narrative with a series of images that corresponds to the chosen theme. This can be created digitally or at home and can include text, illustrations or collages.  Look at zine works to inspire your chosen layout, find out where they come from and be creative.

 History of Zine

The first Zine (pronounced ‘Zeen’) can be traced back to as early as the 1930s by the Science Correspondence Club based in Chicago who published their Zine titled ‘The Comet’,  which kickstarted a long line of sci-fi-based zines.  The relationship between Zines and the Sci-fi world deepened over the next 15-20 years until 1967 where the Star Trek fanzine ‘Spockanalia’ was released which increase its popularity. Initially, these zines were printed using mimeographs which push ink through a stencil to create multiple prints at once.  However, during the 70s as new technology was developed, creating Zines was easy and more efficient with work being created fast and inexpensively.   Soon zines took to the punk scene in London, England throughout the 70s and 80s.  Despite Zines becoming popularized through the sci-fi community, in modern day the zines are created by a huge variety of communities.  Artists use them to display work and be experimental and expressive, publications such as Home Zine explore the concept of feeling at home, one called Dad Tweets take the approach of humorous dad-jokes and Kanye West even created one for his new line of clothing and shoes.

CONSIDERED Magazine

This Zine is an independently owned magazine that doesn’t not follow a structured publishing schedule.  Their content included sustainable and mindful lifestyle as well as travel articles, collaborating with other creatives such as writers, photographers and artists to display their work and provide them with an additional platform. They focus on being an inclusive company.  The visual style of their zines includes the form of a digital blog located on their website where they publish images accompanied by a body of text.  Each separate zine within their webpage had a different style of photography and writing, some explore negative space and muted colours whilst others capture bold and eye-catching subjects that quickly capture the viewer’s attention.

 BRIGHT

BRIGHT | Ethical Lifestyle (brightzine.co)

Founded in 2016, BRIGHT is an independent zine company with a passion for veganism who aim to offer a creative outlet for those who seek out information about veganism, various movements and the company takes in interest in the cooks behind the vegan meals located in London.  In 2019, they opened a coffee shop that included an ethical lifestyle section with food and homeware items.  Their values include ‘removing animals and the mistreatment of animals for all consumer companies’ and supporting other small businesses, creating an inclusive community in amongst them and other creatives with similar values. Their zine takes the form of a physical booklet that is released regularly, featuring The Air Vegan who advocates for change in the sneaker community. Plantfaced Beauty that covers a range of plant-based products promoted in these publications and each publication included a range of thought-provoking publications to evoke change. The booklet itself is composed of a range of images. Illustrations and text with a varying colour palette.

This company publishes environmental journalistic content, this is a critically acclaimed independent magazine that is printed every two years with online blog-style content published for frequently. The purpose is to reduce environmental tensions and offer any and all possible perspectives on the climate crisis, offering original and surprising content to spark discussions about these challenging topics. They host climate change-focused events in London, UK where they are based.  Their zines in print-form are heavily illustrated, using bold lettering and bright colours combined with striking  lines and intriguing textures to bring attention to its contents.  Each Issue is slightly different and offers a new insight in the climate crisis.  These zines are available for digital download and anyone can be featured in these publishing’s by sending in a pitch with your article idea.

There are many things Eli Manning can do: father three children, secure two Super Bowl rings, and, in the process, charm all of New York into adopting a Louisiana boy as their own after 14 seasons as the starting Quarter Back of The New York Giants. One thing he can’t do, however, is design a watch. For that, he went to the experts at Hublot, whose Switzerland-based design team turned out a beautifully crafted timepiece that checked all of the boxes required by the youngest Manning football prodigy.

“They know what they’re doing with watches,” Manning told Men’s Journal during a private dinner held at Manhattan’s storied Metropolitan Club. “They asked what I like, and there are a few things, usually something classic with a bigger face, but I said, ‘Hey, you’re the experts who have been doing this for a long time. I’ll trust in you.’ I’m just happy that they asked!”

It marks a significant upgrade in Manning’s personal collection, which he started at a pretty young age. “I don’t have a big personal collection of watches,” he admitted. “A lot of it is really just stuff I’ve had from growing up, but I’ve always worn a watch, I think since I was 6 years old. My dad had some endorsements with Gatorade, so my first watch had a Gatorade logo on it. I know Gatorade didn’t make the watch, but I’ve called it ‘The Gatorade Watch’ my whole life, and I think my dad is still wearing one. I’ve moved on a little bit though; this Hublot is much better than my Gatorade watch.”

The finished product boasts a self-winding chronograph movement, a lacquered blue matte dial, and a blue pebbled leather strap that appropriately mimics the same stitching and hand-feel as a football. Only 22 of the coveted timepieces exist, and while we think it’s safe to say that at least one of them has found a permanent spot in Manning’s collection.

For me, it’s original and genuine because they’re the first three words I ever said in a job that I got, that hell, I didn’t know if it was gonna be a hobby. It could have been my only gig.
