Tonight ... as I was taking sheets from the line. It was a good day. Some weeding was done. Some social connection with neighbors. Grieved our losses with a friend that is mourning, too. Celebrated over 60 years of friendship with my best friend. And have line-dried sheets to put on the bed. It was a good day. I have struggled lately. I am surrounded by love and people that care so much ... yet I feel lost and alone. The weight of the farm seems heavy at times ... but I know help is just a phone call away. I miss my darling Honey more than I can explain. And it is at sunset ... when the loneliness sets in. I am not tired enough to go to bed. I am awake enough to feel the emptiness of the house. Grief is hard. It is ever-changing. You always walk through the journey alone. But with COVID, it is a solitary journey. No visitation. No funeral. No memorial.
