The sigh he sighs is a heavy one.

They are gone, laughs echoing down the rest of the corridor, before Montrose can respond.

He can only watch them walk away...and await his fate.

A rather bright first year from my house proposed an interesting hypothetical scenario to me the other day. It went somewhere along the lines of:

What would you do if a boggart appeared and you had no wand to cast it away?

At first, I was unsure of how to answer him. I don't like thinking of the form my boggart takes as it's a fear that plagues me daily. However, I did eventually come to my own solution. Since the form it takes on around me is unable to move, I would simply find my nearest friend and bring them to the boggart so they could cast the spell.

On a completely unrelated note, I will be teaching myself wandless magic. I'm also curious on what others would do in this situation, though don't feel any pressure to answer.

Lilith wakes up not really remembering what she was dreaming about apart from a cloud of beautiful ginger locks, a sense of time passing, and a happy warmth one gets when they are near somebody dear to them. Normally groggy in the mornings, she turns to her other side and tries to doze off again, chasing the feeling of comfort she experienced in the daze of her sleepy memories.

Villiam the Vampire and Hellendil the Egyptian Pharaoh have stepped into the local Haunted House Room. The ghosts at the entrance have warned them that their sense of direction can't save them in there: the room shifts and its interior changes, barriers and smaller corridors form out of thin air to confuse while the road back might not always imply the exit. In order not to disrupt the inner workings of the room, they were required to leave their wands at the entrance, securely hidden away in case some nifflers decide to entertain the idea of casting spells.

It's pitch black and Will has to really squint to get the glimpses of the cobwebs, old furniture, and even his own feet. He automatically reaches for his companion's hand even if he is not normally that easily scared, pickles aside. If he can logically explain it then fear is illogical, especially with something as harmless as a student-made haunted house. They have ghosts flying all over the school, nothing should be able to scare them, they are not muggles!

At the same time, William wasn't the prefect in charge of this particular attraction and it unnerved him a little. What if the spell they used was not reliable or they cast it wrong? What if the professors missed something while checking the room? What if…

Suddenly, a window to his right flashes as if lightning stroke nearby, loud thunder making him screech and jump to the side, bumping into something warm and... filled with straw? Something that also lets out a high-pitched scream, making William violently jerk away from it with yet another shriek.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Both are beautiful in such different ways. It would not be right of me to comment on this at all because ultimately my opinion does not matter. In any case, I only know @theodoradevlin well enough. She was one of my first friends.

Shrub Club: episode 3

As promised, she has come bearing snacks and beverages. Or rather, she insists on helping with the garnishes and a few ‘taste tests’, while a few mutual friends of Deek carry out most of the work, such as setting up the small catering station and serving platters, adjusting the centrepieces and the food presentation. The house elves take great pride in their culinary magic, and Wren is left mesmerised by it every time without fail. A miniature picnic table is finely set with a tea kettle and a jar of syrup, accompanied by trays of fruits, cheese and seasonal fare. The main menu consists of Butterbeer and a blueberry pie, big enough to satisfy a party of four. Wren did hear @justaskmagnoliaellistor enjoys all things blueberries.

She takes a slice and nibbles on it, scanning the area; the location is near perfection, with ample sunlight, good drainage and accessibility to the Herbology greenhouses, though the lack of proximity to water sources she finds mildly worrying.

Conjuring her notebook, in which having already briefed a list of magical elements she’d planned to incorporate, involving enchanted soil, lighting, and now adding irrigation enchantments, if applicable.

Wren scarfs down the slice of pie and marvells as arrays of wood and stone diligently slot themselves together like an intricate puzzle - the greenhouse already looks half finished, and the construction carries on swimmingly. Turns out @demetrius-haggarty is much more adept at spellcasting than he realises.

She sits back, her lap balancing her sketchpad, and worries if her efforts may be too ambitious. Bits of charcoal and worn pencils rattling as she unfurls each page. Colours bloom like stains on oil paint, edges of her vision sharpened, details now finer.

Wren wants to plant a tree in the middle, Hawthorne (hehe), to grow wild and deep, belonging to no one but the soil beneath the ground base, and the dappled sky above. A dome is to be put in place, and it will be sheltering an even bigger world, with every unused space, they will fill with their own touches, the turning of seasons itself. The Extension Charm should do the trick.

Just as she scouts for any availability for walkways, or even additional features like seating areas or ponds. One minor detail sticks out regarding the layout of the greenhouse's dimensions: there is no glass.

“Well, that just won’t do. I wonder what are the chances of a glassmaking charm?” Wren ponders aloud, wondering if it’d be easier to up and transfigure a pile of sand into glass instead. That said, it wouldn’t hurt to try. She taps her chin, and looks out towards the lake, where the narrow, gently sloping land lies along its edge, an idea begins to surface. She wonders if @theodoradevlin would be willing for an experiment.

Her eyes flash with inspiration, it is brief. “What’s between beach sand and lake sand anyways?”

Wren’s notebook:

Climate control charms with heating, cooling, and humidity control to ensure optimal growing conditions.

Research and select plants that thrive in the chosen environment. Incorporate a mix of exotic, rare, and unique species, if one wishes. (Want to plant a pumpkin patch albeit unsure if Maggie would like that.)

Integrate both natural and artificial lighting to mimic day-night cycles, ensuring the plants receive adequate light.

Implement protective charms to keep magical plants safe from pests and potential intruders. Magical wards or enchantments can be used for additional security.

Maintenance Plan: a regular upkeep schedule for watering, fertilising, and pruning plants.

Decoration: sculptures, fountains, or artwork (?) a butterfly garden perhaps.

Ensure that safety measures are in place, such as emergency exits. Must include protective gear e.g. earmuffs or dragonhide gloves, to protect both the greenhouse and its occupants.

Boopidemic!

Almost 24 hours ago it began. Theodoradevlin was the first one to fall from being booped on the nose: the waddling booper has claimed their first victim and laid dormant for 7 hours, soaking in the power of the first boops. The following people have been booped by the end of the day: theodoradevlin, localravenclaw, adallegra, lil-grem-draws, rypnami, tessa-eloden, ask-sebastian, kiwiplaetzchen, ask-ominis, wrenegade-accio, ominis-bird-of-yore, justmagnoliaellistor, greedyforgarreth. If any of the other victims have not been accounted for, please, contact us for moral support!

They broadened their list: localravenclaw and adallegra got booped as well! theodoradevlin decided to call for reinforcements! Everyone went on high alert, localravenclaw ready to deflect the attacks! lil-grem-draws got scared from being booped, theodoradevlin accepted being booped, localravenclaw managed to deflect, rypnami swears they'll find the booper one day! tessa-eloden assumed it's a ghost, and lil-grem-draws agreed cause how alse would they get past their defences!

The booping finally gets to ask-sebastian who happily accepts it! So do most of the people at that point. theodoradevlin passes out, her ghost gets booped, then she is returned back to life and booped again! A boombie! The booper becomes more powerful with each boop!

People start turning on each other, sus! lil-grem-draws stares at kiwiplaetzchen to see if anybody gets booped while lil-grem-draws is bird watching. A new booper appears instead, booping Kiwi! Their . and capitalization are completely different from booper #1! People are being booped AND showered in cats??? Is it.... Booper #3??? Consensus is unclear on that one.

Traps are set. Boopers avoid them all! They are educated in booping! They have a degree! the booer #1 is getting inside lil-grem-draws' house!

ask-ominis gets booped and replies in poetry?? We have a suspicion that the 4th booper is involved when the poetry boop is sent in, the style being in italics! They don't show up again??

The booper #2 accidentally sends "boob" instead of "boop" thus the boob jugling booper is born!

wrenegade-accio is booped as soon as they wake up!!! ominis-bird-of-yore and lil-grem-draws get booped at the same time, nobody is left behind, Kat sets up more traps!!

rypnami seems to have been booped with a sunflower. And then the flower was taken away??? But 10 more are given back! greedyforgarreth gives the waddler a hug!

Some anon is scared of the booper, but ask-sebastian promises to protect them! justmagnoliaellistor gets booped as well and is being very sweet about it. People love the boopers. tessa-eloden got some boops the following morning as well.

The boopers slowly departed into the night. We do not know their identities. We are not sure how many there were. We are puzzled by how they managed to boop us and never get caught. Despite the chaos that was created, the boopers are greatly loved and appreciated <3

I just wanted to drop in and bid you a Happy Halloween! It’s your day, or night, to thrive! I haven’t written to you in quite a while, my apologies. Anyways, if you’re dressing up, what are you dressing up as?

Am I really your favourite ghost? It's such a competition for us, ghosts, out there that I am really humbled to claim this title!

I've heard about your Halloween plans from some other spooky sources, matching pajamas is an absolutely adorable idea, say hi to Cecelia from me! I would love to stop by and say hi myself but I have a feeling I won't pass the sliding staircase test: I am not really a ghost today.

And my costume of choice is the King of Hearts! Or an attempt at it, at least. As you know, I do not really own anything: The Ministry of Magic doesn't think we need to since we cannot touch anything. So I searched for as many related items as I could after I turned human (was really easy to do it today for some reason, perhaps the Veil is really thin).

I used my student robes for the base; the crown and mask are from the theater club (I'm so glad I have such understanding acting partners!) The red bowtie — oh, I hope whoever owns the cat I took it from won't be too upset, I was running out of time and needed something... I'll return it if I ever find that specific cat again! And finally, the fancy frills were @theodoradevlin 's idea. I do not know what she was giggling about while helping me put it on but she said everyone at the Ball would love to dance with me as a result!

Can't wait to dance my night out, and you have a Wonderful Spooky Halloween as well!
