Mario Thread Opinions
I saw something making rounds on Twitter featuring Mario characters, so, I wanted to respond to that, but without flooding the timeline.
So, I’ll put them here instead! ...And I’ll try to keep thoughts short...
Tumblr media
... ... ...
Original Tweeted Characters
Mario: He’s such a cheerful and happy protagonist! I don’t get why people ever have strong dislikes for him. He’s full of energy and normally kindness. Maybe they think that’s bland, but I’ve been following Mario’s journeys since I was very young, so he’ll always be a great protagonist for me.
Toadette: She’s so energetic and sweet! She’s come such a long way since her debut from Mario Kart: Double Dash, and currently, Toadette seems to be a regular mainstay for the franchise. You’re doing amazing, sweetie! Keep going!
Dry Bones: One of the cutest zombies and/or reanimated dead characters that I can think of. While a tricky enemy to handle, I still enjoy seeing them. Plus, they’re welcome additions to spin-off games like almost always!
Shy Guy: The beeeeest! Shy Guy is the cutest little enemy, and I love how they get included into various roles as either friend or foe. I think I’m always happy to see Shy Guy around in some way!
Pink Gold Peach: Peach deserves a cool power-up form! While I wish she had it outside of spin-off titles, I think it’s a cute concept regardless. (Though, I get the disappointment when she shows up.) People mention “rose gold” as a title instead, and I think I agree with that, but also, alliteration.
Peachette: (deep, heavy sigh) You could have been so fun conceptually...the potential for future uses that could be dramatic with bait-and-switches for Peach. But...marred by Internet memes...also, not a fan that Toadette gets replaced on-screen by Peach in the first place, so, yeah.
King Boo: This dude has so many change-ups in how he appears. I kind of love him as both a Mario enemy and a Luigi’s Mansion main boss. He makes a good adversary for Luigi, so, I hope he sticks around to spook the cast! Love his laugh too, lol.
Daisy: She deserves so much love and attention, and I don’t understand why the developers at Nintendo have kept her locked behind spin-off titles for so long. I feel like that could change going forward, so I’m hoping that she becomes even more awesome and help save the day in future adventures!
Peach: Arguably the most iconic damsel in modern media, though I wish we could let her evolve past that. Peach is strong in her own right, so let’s see her headline a franchise and save the day herself! She doesn’t get opportunity to do that enough. She can be more than just Mario’s plot device. Anyway, she’s great, and I wish she would get more respect from Nintendo. She could make the Disney princesses shudder if given the chance.
Yoshi: Quite possibly the cutest steed known to pop culture! He’s so sweet and precious, like, I feel as though no one can help but love Yoshi. Anytime he pops in and the moment immediately improves!
Luigi: As a younger sibling myself, I totally can relate to Luigi easily. He’s the best deuteragonist that Mario could ask for! His fans can sometimes be a little much, but I can understand the enthusiasm! Luigi’s a good boy. Nintendo should dunk on him less though; he’s proven well enough.
Hammer Bro: Bah, an enemy that always keeps me wary! Probably one of the biggest common enemies that is practically guaranteed to be at least a light challenge. As they appear in more spin-off games, I like their energy and excitement more. They’re fun dudes!
The Koopalings: No clue how they were kept dormant for so many years, because they provide so much flavor to the series! Then again, it’s painful to see any of them separated from one another, and including seven characters can be a challenge. Overall, I love them, and they make great opponents and even additions to rosters! Best generals, I think.
Kamek: I know that the name isn’t supposed to be significant, but he ended up being so. And I really wish we would get a version of Kamek that stands out from the other Magikoopa! His role seems too important to be neglected as often as it can be. Definitely the coolest standalone enemy on Bowser’s minion roster, and I hope they keep helping this one stand out more in the future!
Waluigi: He’s pretty funny, and he can sucker a few laughs out of me time and again. I think that he’s underrated by the Mario franchise itself, and that he should appear more often or join Wario for his franchise. His loudest fans are definitely a bit too rambunctious. Still, he’s been around for 20 years, and I do agree that he probably deserves better.
Rosalina: Definitely a cool character that I really hope we keep in rotation. She should be used for more than just spin-off shenanigans without question, so I hope that we see her more as time goes on. (She almost joined Odyssey in a cool appearance!) Anyway, I love her motherly and calm yet elegant nature, and the lore that she gave to Super Mario Galaxy as well. Luma princess!
Bowser: As Mario is one of my favorite protagonists, Bowser would be one of my favorite antagonists! Though, I do wish he’d get a break. He’s a fun character without always being evil. We should give other villains a chance to go crazy and let Bowser do something else, either helping Mario or just living life without being the big bad. He’s sometimes more interesting being just a dad above all else!
Piranha Plant: Plant gang rise up! Not going to lie, one of the most iconic Mario enemies to appear, and yet, I feel like they’ve been slept on until their recent inclusions in games as playable characters, most especially in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Great surprise trap enemies too. Overall, love these chompy dudes! ...Except when they chomp me, that is, ha!
Metal Mario: Probably one of Mario’s coolest power-up forms! He’s appeared in several spin-offs as a playable character, starting with Mario Golf for the N64, if I’m not mistaken. While I prefer him as a power-up, he’s a fun concept to see turn up every so often.
Whomp King: An iconic opponent in Super Mario 64, and one that I’m surprised to see turn up every so often! Yet, I’m also surprised that we don’t see him more often as well. It’s odd, but then again, Whomps can be underutilized. I like him though!
Wario: Greedy guy supreme! Wario is perhaps the grossest Mario character, but also one of the funniest. He’s usually a welcome addition to the rosters that he joins, so, I like to see him around too. His laugh is hilarious and definitely one of the more recognizable out there!
Dry Bowser: Bowser’s reanimated corpse! Originally a cool concept and perhaps even a surprising one! Since I like Dry Bones, I tend to like this dude, even when he’s not exactly Bowser himself sometimes, since that happens. Either way, cool and creepy, so totally a unique flavor!
Pom Pom: Honestly, not an addition that I ever expected, but totally welcomed alongside Boom Boom’s return to the franchise. I love her shuriken attacks and ninja theme, because I’m a sucker for that. And more female creature features are always welcome to roster! Not every lady needs to be a princess, after all.
King Bob-omb: I love him! He’s arguably my favorite boss from Super Mario 64, and I’m so happy that he’s been popping up more frequently. He’s finally playable for the first time in Mario Kart: Tour, so I hope he appears as such in future titles! His mustache deserves greatness!
Toad: I have literally always had a huge soft-spot for the Mushroom Kingdom citizens. Also, I feel like Toad should be recognized as an individual as much as Yoshi is! He’s cheerful, helpful, sweet, and usually so helpful! Plus, I totally crush it when I use him in Mario Kart, lol. One of my favorites as well, and I consider him as part of the core cast!
Bob-omb: Who knew living explosives could be so...cute? I can’t deny that I delight in seeing them, even though they usually terrorize me whenever they’re around. Totally love to see them included, as they’re great inclusions.
Boo: Spooky time! I love seeing Boo, they’re fun. Also, horrifying to face off against, since they’re not usually the easiest to defeat. They’re cute though, and I love to listen to their cackles and trills! Also wonderful inclusions, both in the main Super Mario games and hilariously so in Luigi’s Mansion. (I love their titles and names in those games!)
Bowser Jr.: While his existence should raise questions, mostly concerning how, I tend to hand wave that as easily as Nintendo does. I love that Bowser has a bratty kid, it’s so entertaining to me! And it’s precious, because I really enjoy seeing Bowser having a soft spot for his son. Junior himself is enjoyable to see too, because he’s a pint-sized enemy with lots of personality!
Pauline: That’s my girl! That’s my girl right there, whoo! I’m so deliriously happy that she’s returned in the greatest form, from nameless damsel to major city mayor! And now she’s regularly included for Mario franchise casts by the fans and the developers. She deserves it, and I hope we continue to see Pauline appear all the time in the future! Get it, One-Up Girl!
Baby Daisy: A cute baby bean, and a logical companion for Baby Peach! Not usually a character that I favor, but I don’t mind her. The scariest kiddo on the racetrack, that I’ve learned.
Petey Piranha: It makes sense that the Piranha Plants have a boss leader, since Bowser is that for the Koopas, and then we have such for Bob-ombs, Whomps, Boos, and the others. Anyway, the sludge stuff is gross, but I do love to see Petey! He’s actually sort of cute with his little utters of “yay!” in spin-offs. Plus, he’s usually a fun flavor of boss to battle!
Lakitu: Honestly, I forget that these dudes are supposed to be bad guys; they’re usually so friendly and helpful! And I think I prefer them that way overall. But, they do make challenging opponents when they’re not helpers, so that is fun to see from time to time. Totally a great mainstay to the roster either way!
Baby Rosalina: Like, I do get the idea of her, but at the same time, she’s more or less a walking contradiction, more than Bowser Jr. or the other babies by far. She is cute though, and I guess we’re not meant to think about it.
Koopa Troopa: Basically Bowser’s equivalent to Toad, and I don’t think that’s a comparison that’s addressed often enough. Like, they’d be great to make Bowser’s forces more sympathetic. Anyway, I like them as enemies, though I tend to see them as helpers fairly often too, since that’s how they’ve appeared over the years. Totally a great mainstay!
Boomerang Bro: As if their hammer throwing cousins weren’t bad enough, we get these dudes to battle from time to time. They’re tricky but cool variations on classic opponents. And I think I enjoy seeing them when we have big cast herds for the spin-off Mario titles.
Bullet Bill: Fear. These guys just come flying out of cannons and my instinct just shifts into fight-or-flight. I love them appearing, but I’m always wary of the challenges they normally present. Also, similar to Bob-omb with the whole, “who knew living artillery could be cute?” Because I know it’s Mario, but geez.
Baby Luigi: The baby bro! He’s a fun alternate option for Baby Mario to rescue, and cute to see included from time to time in spin-off titles. Though, I think his best appearance was Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
Banzai Bill: The developers went, “Hey, know what’s scary than a big bullet chasing you down? How about a MEGA DEATH BULLET that destroys everything in its wake? Let’s even give it a creepy slasher-grinning face!” And nobody really questioned that. Utterly horrifying to battle (or just run from), but cool conceptually, so I like the enemy inclusion.
Buzzy Beetle: They’re such lowkey baddies that I actually love. Like, there’s even a sinister hint to them with the glowing red eyes and everything! Totally underrated as opponents, and I enjoy their appearances whenever they’re around.
Baby Mario: The leader of the bunch, and you know him...wait a minute. Anyway, he’s a fun character concept, and I like the idea of exploring characters at different points of their lives! It’s cute to see Mario was thrown into heroics since basically birth, and Baby Mario’s usually entertaining to see around, even though we should really question the lacking moral/ethic decisions of letting babies drive go-karts and playing sports.
Goomba: The number one low-level grunt of all-time! At least, I think so. They’re such fun enemies to see included almost all of the time. It’s fun how they’re normally super easy to fight, but can be surprising challenges in various appearances too. Simple conceptually, yet really diverse in use! Overall, one of the best baddies out there!
Thwomp: Floating death trap extraordinaire! These dudes are utterly terrifying to be anywhere near, most especially under. I tend to remember them for the blocky blue forms used during the N64 era, but I think that’s the less iconic form. Still, they’re great trap enemies for sure, with a great slamming grunt to boot!
Captain Toad: While I’m not entirely sure if he’s meant to be separate from the Toad we know, I treat him that way. Plus, it’s fun to have a light-hearted version of Wario’s treasure hunter role used, and one that actually provides aid to Mario on his adventures! Plus, a hero in his own right. A great character indeed!
Wiggler: Instead of chanting “don’t be suspicious,” it’s “don’t wake the wormy” for me. This crazy caterpillar is full of anxiety inducing moments for sure, but on the cuter side too. Also, shout-out to the Flutter form! Anyway, they make a fun enemy, and it’s fun when they go from passive to aggressive!
Cheep Chomp: I really can’t deny that I’m surprised that this was included for an opinion list. Anyway, bigger and scarier fish enemies are always a good fright to include, so, why not? I like the purple version too.
Baby Peach: The original baby princess, which is weird to mention, given that I never expected more than one to appear or matter. Anyway, she’s a cute companion for Baby Mario and has her own baby princess posse, so...yeah.
Boom Boom: These dudes were always such cool enemies in Super Mario Bros. 3, so I’m really glad they came back into newer games! I love seeing them appear more in spin-offs lately too, they’re entertaining options to shuffle in with the cast now and again. Fun to face off against too; normally easy, but can be tougher too!
Cheep Cheep: Fishy! It’s weird how they can be so cute, and yet they’re so dangerous, since one bite cuts you down to size. But yeah, I like them as basic aquatic enemies!
Blooper: These troublesome dudes...they can chase you, tentacle smack you, and ink you in the face! That last one never used to be a problem in kart racing, but they totally improved over the years. Good enemy. But, also? A really, really cute spin-off character! I kind of love seeing them appear in other titles as playable characters. Especially in Mario Tennis Aces. Their voices are so cute!
Whomp: Really weird to see them included so far from their king. But anyway! Cool enemies, totally underrated compared to their Thwomp cousins, and I like to see them turn up now and again. They make fun guards, most commonly utilized in the Mario Party series. They’re fun enemies and deserve more love!
Additional Characters That I Like Too
Birdo: The disrespect at people never including my girl...shameful! Anyway, I love Birdo a lot. She’s pretty cute and should totally be included way more often than she is. And she pairs so nicely with Yoshi, that’s so perfect! Plus, she’s probably the earliest trans character that I was ever introduced to, and/or consciously aware of. Anyway, I love her, so there.
Toadsworth: Why does he get so neglected over the years? I thought he was a great inclusion for Peach’s staff, and yet, he’s diminishing so frequently over the years for some reason. Anyway, he was a very entertaining character, made a great equivalent to Kamek, and I wish he’d be used more frequently.
Donkey Kong: Not going to lie, I tend to not include him in Mario cast calls a lot too, since he just feels comparatively detached to other characters. That’s so weird for someone that basically helped kick off Nintendo’s main franchise. Anyway, I love him a lot, even if I don’t show it much. He’s a cool kong, and doesn’t need to be the king to prove it!
Chain Chomp: The bark and chain rattle of sheer terror. I love these guys though! They’re so cute! And dangerous. But cute! Whether being used as a baby’s weapon of mass destruction in racing, or as another avid tennis player, Chain Chomps are just delightful to have around.
Wart: Yeah, not really expected to be included. But, I like Wart from Super Mario Bros. 2, and he’s basically my new character to campaign for since Pauline made it back from the yester-years already. Wart has great potential to be an alternative to Bowser, or even just a fun character to include, so, I hope that we see him come back to the Mario franchise in the future some day!
Nabbit: This pesky thief actually stands out well enough to me, probably because he’s included as a playable pick in the New Super Mario Bros. games from time to time. Anyway, an oddball of sorts, but pretty cute to see pop up from time to time! Maybe he’ll be kept in rotation for future spin-offs...we’ll see!
Monty Mole: Perhaps a more forgettable enemy, but I think they’re entertaining and rather unique ground enemies! Also, I enjoy their Rocky Wrench cousins. But yeah, I felt these dudes deserved a special mention too!
Diddy Kong: Although I typically don’t consider Diddy a Mario character, he’s appeared so often enough that he should be. I like him as Donkey Kong’s go-to partner, and he’s fairly cute too!
Tatanga: Look, if Wart doesn’t work out, then I’m rallying behind Super Mario Land’s Tatanga. Plus, if we get more Daisy, we might as well get an enemy to go along with, or rather against, her. Who better than this little dude? ...Though, I kind of like the bulky version from the comics more. Then again, it’s less expected for a tiny guy to be a main bad guy, so, he’d work either way. Another fun alternate for Bowser, so he can have a break, and Mario gets more enemies!
Fire Bro: I saw the Boomerang Bro and was kind of expecting this dude to show up too. Normally easier to handle than their weapon tossing cousins, at least for me, but they’re challenging enough too. Another fun variation inclusion for big roster herds.
Spike: You know, I recall the Paper Mario version known as Clubba best. But anyway, I like these dudes, and I’m enjoying seeing them appear more often in newer spin-off titles. They’re cute! And they provide strong diversity for Bowser’s usual forces.
Luma: How did we not see these little fellows in the main set? They’re so adorable, I love seeing them all the time now! Definitely one of the coolest races to come from the Mario games, totally fitting for the franchise, and I love seeing them appear basically whenever they do. They’re so cute!
Rex: The retro Super Mario World enemy that’s rather squishy and most commonly forgotten. I think they work nicely as an evil equivalent to Yoshi, at least in appearance. It’s honestly strange that they’re so underrated and underutilized by the franchise; they’re pretty cool!
Ninji: Little ninja-like minions from Super Mario Bros. 2 that appear sparingly across the Mario series. Another enemy that I feel is super underrated and totally has potential for inclusion in spin-off games or just as a more frequent opponent like Rexes should be.
Koopa Paratroopa: Kind of included with Koopa Troopa above, but I like to see Paratroopa distinguished, since they normally tend to be, even among flying enemies. Plus, they’re common inclusions to the Mario spin-off titles, so it’s weird to pass over them. Anyway, I like these winged menaces too!
Professor E. Gadd: Speaking of underused characters and E. Gadd should totally pop up there. I like that he’s a Luigi’s Mansion mainstay, but I miss the days where he was slowly branching out in other titles, perhaps most notably in the Mario & Luigi series, but he’s also the reason that Mario had FLUDD in Super Mario Sunshine! I wonder why he’s not included more frequently; even if not playable, he makes sense just being used in some capacity.
Spiny: Lakitu’s little monsters that rain terror from the skies and onto the ground! Perhaps one of tougher baddies to battle with, but I like to see them, since they’re pretty iconic. Even without being Lakitu’s minions, they’re still plenty tough for Mario to battle against. Plus, they’re kind of cute? We should see a blue variation some day though, so that way we all know who to hammer on for all of those Mario Kart horror stories...
Cappy: Since this is being posted on the 3rd anniversary for Super Mario Odyssey, I’ll give him an additional inclusion. After all, Cappy is probably one of Mario’s best companions for a 3-D Mario title to ever be included, easily surpassing FLUDD and Baby Luma / Co-Star Luma. I hope he’s not left to be forgotten as the years go by, because he had plenty of personality and flavor that really made the adventure even more entertaining, and a great concept to engage with the game play, so, here’s to Cappy!
... ... ...
Phew. Anyway, these are just some thoughts on Mario franchise characters! There sure are a lot of them, huh? Probably too many to count if we really dig through the series, that’s for sure!
That’s all from me though, at least for this. Thank you for reading!

LAST HOLIDAY
spoilers below - backdated from 10/9/020
oh hey abaddon, is alaina huffman in this? that would be nice all these beheadings, damn I couldn't watch this live when it aired because I don't have cable but I bought season 15 on amazon this time last fucking year so technically any time after 2AM I could've watched it, not actually sure I'll make it through everything tonight because I started at 10pm and I am Tired the livestream misha did was fun for the first 30 minutes but then I had to turn it off to avoid spoilers so I guess I will revisit that later I like sam's flannel in this one too. like gold, light grey, dark grey? A+. this is queer flannel. this is from EXPRESS, not Kohl's the bunker has a gas stove I guess which I should've known having all the appliances fail suddenly is very relatable to me and perhaps one of the worst monsters of all don't mock luigi, he knows how to deal with ghosts sam has the plans and dean just smashes buttons god that burger does look great "meat man" who wrote this one ah the dean deluxe the scooby doo boxers are pretty cute honestly who is jeremy adams 1958, yeesh "everybody?" "everybody's dead" standby mode huh, were they supposed to have like... lights this plot is very narnia, wake up to find out everyone you loved is dead they have extra abilities in the lead-up to the final boss, and the network is willing to spend more on the electricity to give them more lighting sam is right to doubt anything ever being good is anyone going to tell jack they're leaving him alone with some random person and lmao thank you sam as I was typing this he pointed that out jack's shirt/sweater looks very cozy snickerdoodles are great magic roomba... thanks for calling him the son of satan, lucifer doesn't even want to be called satan "ignoring your trauma doesn't make you healthy" THANK YOU SAM time + space, indeed uh just throwing this out there he could use some emotional support too probably please accept this sandwich as an offer of solidarity god it's nice to see alex be allowed to emote again leave these guys alone, they're drinking blood packs with curly straws aw, come on :( those guys didn't deserve that I guess if she's a wood nymph she can summon a christmas tree? where's the secret christmas decoration storage room in the bunker yeah tell sam to smile :\ I hate holidays except halloween god I love how jack waves I do love how much jensen loves wearing goofy outfits, this made me smile big time. I'm glad they clearly had so much fun on the set with this stuff especially knowing what comes next IRL :( she's right to be worried about his cholesterol just waiting for the other shoe to drop with something terrible befalling this group watching dean run in that outfit is hilarious poor jack doesn't deserve all this but I'm glad that she's helping him kind of work through the grief where the fuck is cas so it seems like ultra fucked up to be watching them do no-knock shit into people's homes and shooting them no questions asked, and it has always seemed fucked up but right now the methodical nature of this and their goofy smiles taking packed lunches while setting out to murder people minding their own business is not cool with me and never has been the 50s were bad, actually god sam has the hammer of thor. thank fuck. is it may? is it sam's birthday in-universe? what files was she going through, eyes emoji jack is smart, actually oh boy is she brainwashed, are they keeping her held hostage with magic or something, because the men of letters don't give a FUCK about monsters and will use them jack's a millennial and can look up instructions for how to operate a reel to reel and 100% knows what it is because he lives in the bunker "son of a bitch" jack's spending too much time with dean sam has a big date huh, I hope it's with eileen "abercrombie and bitch" IT IS EILEEN!!! dean should definitely be nicer to sam poor jack has no one to turn to for help :( where is cas!!!! can they not afford to pay misha also I don't feel sorry for nazis there are a lot of beheadings on this show, pulling someone's head off definitely seems like yanking on a plant vs pruning it with sharp pruning shears or whatever oh you're shitty lady "do you ever think they're scared of what you'll do to someone else" uh yeah there was that time they locked him in a coffin please stop hurting this child if she's so sure sam and dean would approve then she'd do it when sam and dean can see her yeah I am not surprised she was poisoning him MAKE THE BUNKER SAFE AGAIN!!!!! maga shit, get rid of all the monsters, says a monster the writing here is.... iffy. little heavyhanded dean's thinking about it, that's what's so fucked. like "look I already tried to kill him one time" we just keep comparing jack to snakes but I prefer when yockey's doing it sam looks so much like vincent from silent hill 3 in this outfit sam really is the smart one. jack's a child, he hasn't had a lot of experience with this. dean... I guess tried to explain what he wanted but didn't realized he'd get overruled but sam is smart because sam knows how to deal with witchy shit. like he'd survive in a hansel and gretel situation. GET HIM JACK GET HIM this is BULLSHIT dean tried to kill him and he didn't answer the question re: "do you still think i'm a monster" fuuuuuck this WHERE IS CASTIEL, why is jack always trapped alone with dean and unable to get away OTL dean won't admit he himself is a monster either lol oops. or that sam is. oops!! dean is mourning the loss of omelets and his new mom who can cook and some semblance of normality "evil mary poppins" is very funny to me because I've been watching venture bros and dr killinger has been showing up how long has this been actually? sam's birthday is in may, did they actually celebrate all those holidays in real time? I got the impression that it was a holidays-speedrun but now I'm doubting myself why is it always torture THANK YOU SAM!! SAM SAID IT!!!! "jack is not a monster, he's a kid who's gone from one tragedy to another" THANK YOU!!! sam just won so many points with me for saying it out loud "pain is just weakness leaving the body" huh, at least it opened the door :\ sam poor baby lost all his fucking fingernails trying to stand up for jack :( it's wild seeing smoeone's eyes glow green this is why cas can't be here, because castiel could just stop her just go back to your forest lady sam's right, the men of letters just use monsters for their own ends sam goes "we care about him" dean goes "oh yeah jack's useful" which to be fair dean's trying to logic/rationalize it, that the world needs jack, but I don't know that those lines would have been reversed insofar as characterization feeling authentic she's having trouble processing her own grief ah yeah there it is "sorry I ripped your fingernails off one by one" yeah god she hasn't seen the sun in decades?? "it's an interdimensional geoscope" "I looked into it earlier and didn't see anything" "oh that's... not good" I'm glad sam and jack are talking about how jack is feeling and if he needs to talk I'm glad dean is cooking happy birhday jack where is castiel for this I have mixed feelings but I guess this turned out okay, still waiting for DEAN TO APOLOGIZE TO JACK? but dean never apologizes to anyone. the cake is a step in the right direction but cake doesn't make up for locking him in a box and threatening to kill him several times over, sorry

New Mario Movie: Plot Prediction (Part 1)
Yo, folks!
As you may recall, around six months ago, we received word that a new Mario movie was in development over at Illumination Studios.
I’m pretty optimistic about this movie, but I feel like I might be in the minority here. Yes, Minions are oversaturated, but it’s not like Illumination makes bad films. The Despicable Me movies do so well not just because of Minions but because they’re genuinely funny and fun. All of Illumination’s work is gorgeously animated, even the stuff that doesn’t do well, and I feel like their fun and bouncy animation style suits Mario pretty well. I feel like the Mario characters may end up looking and moving like they do in Mario + Rabbids, which had a more fluid and expressive style than Nintendo’s usual cutscenes.
Tumblr media
But, a lot of you may be wondering, as I am, what the plot of this movie will be. Mario games, with a few exceptions, tend to be light on plot, at the request of Shigeru Miyamoto himself, who thinks games are at their best when they’re light on story. It was also Miyamoto who approached Illumination for a Mario movie and is producing the film, so presumably he’s not against a story with Mario, just a story in a Mario game.
Well, I’ve given in a lot of thought (more than I probably should), and I’ve come with a story that might work as an animated film. The story below may have no similarity at all with the actual plot of the actual film, but at this point in development, I have just as much a clue as anybody else what that film will be like.
This is the first of several parts, so please bear with me:
Right, so, in my mind, this movie will be in a separate continuity from the games. Whether or not a whole AU will branch off from the movie depends on if the movie is successful enough to get sequels, which, to be honest, it probably will be.
As such, the film, will serve as an introduction to the Mario world and characters to attract movie goers who have never touched a video game. So, this will be a retelling of Mario’s first adventure. However, simply adapting the first Super Mario Bros. will not work. Traveling from world to world fighting silent monsters only to get cockblocked by seven Toads does not a movie make.
Instead, they’ll have to come up with something more dramatic for Mario’s first rescue.
But, first, we open with a prologue that goes something like this:
Once upon a time, there were two neighboring kingdoms.
A kingdom of light
Tumblr media
and a kingdom of darkness.
Tumblr media
The kingdom of darkness was a place of smoke and fire and fearsome monsters. But, the kingdom of light was blessed by the goodness of their ruler and the power of the stars.
You see, whenever the denizens of the kingdom performed an act of kindness, selflessness, or goodwill, a star would appear. And the people were so good to each other that there was never a short supply of stars.
The people of the Mushroom Kingdom used these stars as a source of power. The stars were powerful enough to keep the lights on at night, their homes warm in winter, their appliances running smoothly. Everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom lived comfortably because of the stars.
But the neighboring kingdom, sadly, was not so blessed. No matter how kind or good anybody was to anybody else, no stars would appear. And so, the people of the kingdom lived in darkness.
The fearsome ruler of the kingdom of darkness envied the light of the neighboring kingdom.
“Light,” we are to understand, refers both to the stars and to the fair princess.
So, he decided to take them both for himself.
The film proper opens with Bowser’s forces invading Peach’s Castle.
Oh, yes, that’s how we’re starting.
Because there’s no hero to stop them, you see.
So, a couple of Toads are up on the battlements, patrolling idly, asking about baseball scores
WHEN SUDDENLY the air becomes smoky and ashy. The smell is horrible.
They cough and cover their faces. “What is that smell?”
A shadow falls. They look up and see Bowser’s airship hovering just overhead.
Without any power stars, it runs on coal, and a huge plume of black smoke rises behind it. Monsters begin to drop from above onto the castle. Fly Guys dropping Goombas, Lakitus dropping Spinies, Paratroopas dropping themselves. The scene turns to chaos within seconds.
The Toads on the roof are swatted aside like flies. But a few manage to get inside and sound the alarm.
The scene that follows is not unlike the opening of Mario Galaxy, except it in the castle, rather than outdoors. Toads fight valiantly against the onslaught of monsters. What’s more, the Toads receive assistance from the power stars.
When a Toad protects another in battle or takes a risk, a star appears, and he grabs it for a power boost, giving him an edge against the monsters.
However, the power of the star soon fades, and even with the stars, the Toads aren’t battle-ready enough to stop the invaders.
Joining the battle is none other than the princess herself, aglow with star power (tee hee!)
But as soon as her star wears off, Toadsworth pulls her aside.
He tells her to wait in a hidden compartment in the wall, where she’ll be safe.
Peach is reluctant, but Toadsworth half-convinces, half-shoves her into compliance.
Not long after Peach hides, the battle is brought to a halt with the Boos appear and use their powers to rust through the bolt holding the door outside shut.
And that thing flies off its hinges.
The Toads cower as Bowser himself steps into the room
Preceded by Kamek, who’s in this movie, too.
Bowser grabs Toadsworth and demands that he tell him where the princess is.
Toadsworth claims that Peach has already fled the castle, but Bowser’s not convinced.
“What kind of ruler turns and runs while her people fight?
“You calling Peach a chicken?”
Bowser’s about to sauté Toadsworth right there in front of everybody when someone yells, “STOP!”
Bowser turns and sees Peach herself.
“I’m right here, Bowser.”
Bowser is all simpering smiles as he drops Toadsworth like seven feet to the ground.
“Princess, look at you!
“Lovely as ever, I see~!”
Peach ignores him and runs over to Toadsworth.
“Princess, what are you doing out here?”
Peach: “Bowser, please don’t hurt them anymore.
“I’ll go with you. Just leave them alone.”
Bowser is thrilled. “You mean it?”
Peach: “I’ll go wherever you want. All I ask is that no harm comes to my citizens.”
The Toads are frantic. “No, Princess! Don’t leave us!”
Toadsworth is the most heartbroken of them all.
“Princess, you can’t!”
Peach helps Toadsworth to his feet and whispers.
“Toadsworth, I need to take care of everyone while I’m away. Promise me.
“And, Toadsworth, find someone who can help us.
“I’m counting on you!”
At this moment, two Hammer Bros. grab Peach and physically drag her away from Toadsworth, onto the airship parked outside.
A star float behind her in her wake, created by her choice to sacrifice herself.
That star is clenched in Bowser’s fist.
“Finally. Everything is mine!”
Toadsworth is still defiant.
“You're not my ruler or any of ours!
“This kingdom belongs to Princess Peach!”
Bowser: “Yeah, but see, Peach belongs to me.
“Funny how that works out.
“This is your own fault, you know.
“None of you weaklings were tough enough to save her.
“You twerps don’t get to decide anything. I do.
“And nobody can save you.”
Cut, that same night, to the home of the Mario Bros.
The phone is ringing, and Mario is asleep.
I mean, mouth open, drool on pillow, covers kicked off the bed ASLEEP.
The phone rings four times, goes silent, then starts ringing again.
So Mario has no choice but to get up.
He blearily gets up, moves past Luigi on the bottom bunk, who has not stirred at all, by the way, and answers the phone.
“Hello?”
“Hi, is this Mario Bros. Plumbing?”
Mario and Luigi run a plumbing service in the Metro Kingdom. They barely make enough to get by.
Mario apologizes. We don’t take business calls before eight am... which is four hours from now.
The woman on the other line insists its an emergency.
Mario can hear water running over the phone. Wait, what’s going on?
It turns out the woman is standing in her kitchen up to her waist in water. The sink is spraying like a Super Soaker.
Mario gently suggests she try shutting off the water.
She insists that she did, but the handle on the faucet twisted off in her hand.
Mario attempts to clarify. “No, not the sink, I mean-”
But then thinks better of it. “On second thought, we’ll be right there. What’s your address again?”
Thus begins the long process of getting Luigi out of bed. Mario resorts to dragging Luigi out by his ankle. His face drags on the floor.
Our heroes, ladies and gentlemen.
It’s still dark when the Bros. arrive in their van at the woman’s house.
The job is a real drag, not just because the Bros. are walking around in water almost to their shoulders and have to bail out with the house with buckets before they can work on the sink
But also because the woman herself is an absolute nightmare.
She frequently berates them for working too slow, watches them like a hawk out of paranoia that they’ll steal something, and weirdest of all, seems to object very strongly to them speaking Italian.
Even when they’re just speaking to each other about the sink.
“Don’t you know, English?” she asks.
Mario dearly wants to say, “Of course I do. Did you not hear me speaking English on the phone with you at four am this morning?”
But, of course, he can’t say that, so he just apologizes and whispers to Luigi: “English.”
Which leads to an awkward moment when Luigi can’t remember the English word for a chiave,
So he asks Mario for a “swish-swish!” while awkwardly pantomiming.
By the time the job is done, the sun is up. Both boys are sitting in the van completely soaked. Their hats are still dripping and everything.
They both look incredibly exhausted.
Mario, a little punchy: “Hey, Luigi,
“You think people would like us better if we were buttons?”
Luigi has no idea what Mario is talking about.
“You’re driving. Don’t fall asleep yet, bro.”
“You know, if we were like buttons. All you had to do was push us and the sink was fixed. It seems like people would be happier if they didn’t have to deal with us talking or thinking or whatever. Just push the button and we go.”
Luigi shrugs. They’re little guys. People don’t care about them. He’s used to that.
Luigi is asleep by the time the van pulls back up to their house. Mario looks down at his brother and wishes he could give him more.
To be continued...

My Top 10 Characters I Want in Smash Ultimate
I got a couple of requests for this in my last Smash reaction video, and I didn’t want to make it a full video, so it’ll go here, HERE WE GOOOOOOOOOOOOO.  (Also, none of my top 10 need to be echo fighters, but I’ll throw in a few echos near the end.)
10) Alex Roivas from Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem
This will not happen, especially with Simon and Richter filling the horror game niche, but I can dream, darnit.  For the unaware, Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem was a 2002 GameCube exclusive psychological horror game; it’s basically Resident Evil meets Call of Cthulhu, and it’s my favorite horror game of all time. In the game, you play as Alex Roivas, a few of her ancestors, and few other schmucks across history unfortunate enough to stumble across an ancient book called the Tome of Eternal Darkness, which drags them into a conflict that could destroy the world.  Alex ends up using the knowledge she’s learned from the Tome to stop the rise of three ancient deities, each bent on world domination.  So in Smash, she could have the Tome at her disposal and could even carry it into battle like Robin does.  Her standard attacks can involve normal weaponry she uses like guns and knives and stuff, while her special attacks can all involve using the Tome to summon something.  For her Final Smash, she can hit everyone in a set radius around her with a huge sanity effect that adds 100% damage and breaks the shield of anyone caught in it, leaving them wide open for a heavy attack and a KO.  Plus, more strong female Smash characters, never a bad thing.
9) Decidueye from Pokemon
Every Smash game has a new Pokemon rep, and there’s quite for few on the rumor mill.  Gardevoir and Gothitelle get brought up a lot, but they’d draw a lot of comparisons to (and may end up being an EF to) Mewtwo, especially in Gardevoir’s case.  They could also throw in a currently unannounced Pokemon from Gen 8 with that being right around the corner.  But, Decidueye makes the most sense to me.  It’s got a cool design and there aren’t many characters that uses arrows in their arsenal, basically just the Links and Pit.  Plus, his Flying type would give him really strong recovery, most comparable to Charizard’s.  For his Final Smash, give him Zelda’s FS from Brawl, a giant arrow that KO’s everyone in a straight line.
8) The Eeveelutions from Pokemon
If you like Pokemon, odds are good that you like at least one of the Eeveelutions.  Espeon’s my favorite Pokemon ever, and Jolteon, Umbreon, and Sylveon are up there too.  And there’s eight Eeveelutions at the moment (not counting Eevee) and eight alternate costume spots for each character, so here’s what I’m thinking.  You reveal the Eeveelutions in the next Direct, and put up a poll on the Smash website: Who is your favorite Eeveelution?  The winner of the poll is the default character, while everyone else are the alt costumes.  This does mean that the Eeveelutions will have to be virtually identical, but that shouldn’t be too hard, a Flamethrower can look like a Hydro Pump, a Thunderbolt, a Psyshock, etc. with some small cosmetic changes.  And their Final Smash could either be similar to Mega Man’s where everyone joins in for a giant combined attack, or if you wanna get cartoony, have them get into a big dust cloud fight with other Eeveelutions joining in before the victim gets launched offscreen by it.  Plus with Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee coming soon, it’s a great time to give Eevee’s family some love
7) Black Shadow from F-Zero
You know me, I love F-Zero GX more than I love three square meals a day, and at the moment, there’s barely any Smash representation for the GREATEST RACING GAME OF ALL TIME, so let’s change that.  Samurai Goroh is already an Assist Trophy, so how about Falcon’s other main rival, Black Shadow?  Taking a quick look at him, he’s obviously a big, strong character which makes him well-equipped to be in a fighting game.  But taking a second look at him will make you chuckle, because he’s kinda goofy looking.  He’s wearing a full-body black spandex suit, with bull horns, cloven feet, and a cape.  Yea, he’s a sadistic monster in the games and the anime, but still he’s a little hard to take seriously.  And that can work in his advantage.  In Nintendo Directs, they like to use villains that you can kinda take the piss out of in certain places, like Dedede, Wario, and surely in the future, K. Rool.  Black Shadow can exist in a similar role, and maybe the four can form some evil alliance if they decide to make Subspace Emissary 2.  (Please make Subspace Emissary 2.)  His Final Smash can be identical to Falcon’s, hit your opponent with the Black Bull, works just fine.  Plus, maybe a new F-Zero character could build hype for a new game in the series?  Please?
6) Paper Mario
I’m not sure why some people want Paper Mario to be Mario’s EF?  Wasn’t the point of Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam to show how different those two are?  Anyway, Paper Mario has a bevy of ways to attack that would help him stand apart from his 3-dimensional counterpart.  His standard attack can involve his hammer (which Mario doesn’t have), with the directional standards involving various badges like the Hammer Throw and the Ice Smash.  His special attacks can use his various buddies.  Parakarry can be his recovery, Vivian can be a Down-B defense tool, you could even use Thoreau as his throwing mechanic.  And the final Smash could involve one of the realistic items from the new games, like the electric fan blowing all the opponents offscreen.  I don’t know much about the newer games, they didn’t look as good.
5) Shadow the Hedgehog
This is another one that COULD be an Echo Fighter, but Shadow plays pretty differently to Sonic in their games.  He skates instead of runs, he uses weapons whereas Sonic just uses his speed, Shadow has a FUCKING GUN, there’s plenty that you can do with Shadow to separate him from Sonic.  Particularly involving his Final Smash, Chaos Control.  When it’s used, everyone on screen freezes for ten seconds.  In that time, Shadow can use one heavy attack after another after another, and when the time runs out, all the damage and force from those attacks hit at once, and that character will go flying.  It’d be kinda like Link’s Stasis from Breath of the Wild (which should be Link’s FS, but oh well)
4) Spring Man from Arms
So, Arms wasn’t as big of a hit as people were hoping.  That’s a bummer, it looks like a fun game.  How about we give it one last shot in the arm (teehee) to try to boost its exposure?  Put Spring Man in the game, and have him focus on long-range attacks and throws.  His recovery can be a long whip that grabs ledges like Olimar’s.  And for his Final Smash, give him a big winding tornado throw that KOs whoever he grabs and damages anyone who gets hit by the swinging arms in the process.  Show what he can do in Smash, and maybe it’ll entice people to see what he can do in Arms.  I just want that game to be successful.
3) Rayman
I was shocked that Rayman didn’t get into Smash WiiU, since it seems like Nintendo and Ubisoft have been on great terms for a long time, like how Rayman Origins and Legends ended up on Nintendo consoles when it had almost no third-party support.  Rayman even had a trophy in WiiU, so it was really surprising to me that he wasn’t one of the DLC characters.  Let’s fix that.  His unattached limbs would give him some good range, he’d have some magic that he could use at his disposal for special attacks.  And for his Final Smash, how about summoning a swarm of mosquitoes to fly across the screen, doing massive damage with each hit, like a super-powered version of the Beedrills from Smash 64?
2) Geno from Super Mario RPG
I’m not a huge Final Fantasy guy, but I’m so glad Cloud got into Smash WiiU/3DS, because it throws the door wide open for other Square characters.  A lot of people think this will lead to Sora from Kingdom Hearts getting in (doubtful), but I want Geno to finally get in.  He did get an outfit for the Mii Gunner in the last game, but seeing him actually in Smash, not just as a Mii, would be so great.  Mario RPG is criminally underrated, and it laid the groundwork for the Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi games.  He’d, of course, be a long range fighter, using his finger cannons as his main attacks, and for his Final Smash:  the Geno Flash, which would be like a combination of Pit’s and Jigglypuff’s FS.  You’d go offscreen and aim a point on the map.  From that epicenter, a giant blast grows, trapping and damaging anyone who gets in the blast radius, before launching those victims off the stage.
Honorable Mentions (Echo Fighters)
Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat brought Funky Kong back into the fold, and he’s got a very similar body type to Donkey Kong, so that makes perfect sense to me.
Hyrule Warriors could use a representative, and since Midna’s already an Assist Trophy, how about Impa?  She’s got a great look and could borrow Sheik’s moveset quite well.
I never bought Wart as an Echo Fighter, since the characters he was usually attached to (Bowser or Dedede) didn’t feel similar enough.  But K. Rool, on the other hand, fits just right.  K. Rool looks like a caricature of Wart.
People seem to like Xenoblade Chronicles 2, so let’s add to the Xenoblade cast in Smash.  I don’t know a lot about Rex, besides his goofy pants, but I’m sure he’d be a great fit.
This might seem odd, but how about Andy from Advance Wars as an Echo to Bowser Jr.?  Andy could ride in a tank and shoot projectiles while using the turret as a short-range melee attack?  Could work.
1) Sans and Papyrus from Undertale
No, but could you imagine?
1) Crash and Coco Bandicoot
This would be the kind of Internet breaking character that you put as the last character added to give one final hype boost to the already unstoppable Smash hype train.  The N. Sane Trilogy is already out on Switch, so the publishers already have their foot in the door, so let’s just go for it.  And as an added bonus, you could announce Coco Bandicoot at the same time (like Simon and Richter) for added excitement.  (I would absolutely main as Coco.)  Their standard attacks could revolve around their spin attacks, while their specials would involve using their various powerups like the fruit bazooka and the belly flop.  And the Final Smash would involve using Aku Aku to turn invincible for a brief time.  Yes, they’re kinda doing away with that kind of FS, maybe they could make a cutscene out of it and cause an instant KO or something.  I don’t know, just gimme Crash in Smash, please.

With the “changing Smash Bros characters” ask thing, how would you change up Mario and Luigi? I figure they’d be good places to start, I guess
I don’t think a lot really needs to change with those two, but here’s a few suggestions I’ve got.
For both bros, it kind of bugs me how slow their fireballs are. In the actual Mario games, Mario’s fireballs are really fast, and he usually shoots two off in quick succession.  So I’d apply this change to Mario, but his fireballs would not cause the player to flinch at low damage. Kind of like using his fireballs on a boss in the 2D games.
Ditch FLUDD, give Mario his ground pound. He’s had that in both the 2D and 3D games ever since Mario 64 now, it really should be a part of his moveset.
I would change his recovery move to the spin from Super Mario Galaxy, since it’s literally what he uses to get extra air time in the game.  This could also be used to reflect things, since that’s also, literally what it does in the game...
which brings me to the cape. The cape doesn’t reflect things in the game. So maybe we can change this one too. How about his signature dive attack? That’s been a staple in all of the sandbox Mario games.
While we’re at it... let’s change his smash attack to a wooden hammer. He uses a hammer in every RPG, and in those games it usually comes with a charge up anyway. ( Sorry, I don’t think Paper Mario should be his own character. )
I’m afraid I have no unique interesting ideas for a new final smash though. I don’t think his giant fireball is entirely unfitting... however, a visual makeover could probably make it fit with an actual game he’s been in.  So right before he fires it, have a big, blue, spade shape glow behind him, and instead of one giant blast, it’s a rapid fire shot of giant fireballs. That way it looks like his “Super Flame” attack from Super Mario RPG.
As for Luigi, I don’t have much to say for him. I think it’s quite fitting that he’s a clone of Mario. Maybe he could replace his fireballs with the ice balls from the New Super Mario Bros games. Keep his down and up specials, but change the sound effects so it sounds like the spin and high abilities from Mario and Luigi, Superstar Saga... speaking of which, give him a Hammer Smash too, as a nod to those games.
I really want to replace his side B with something, it’s such a weird thing that isn’t representative of any game I can think of, but i’m afraid I have no ideas for that.
His Final Smash is basically perfect.

Review - Black Mesa (2020)
If there is any series likely to wake me from my great game-writing slumber, it’s Half-Life. It was one of my first forays into adult-orientated gaming after all. A profound shift from Mario and Pokemon. Half-Life: Alyx is, of course, the big, shiny new game in the series but my headset has been gathering dust since I moved into a house that has a bit too much valuable furniture to risk me flailing around. So I went with Black Mesa, a remake of the original Half-Life.
Well, I say remake but it’s caught in limbo somewhere between remake and reimagining. If that sounds strange, then even stranger is that development for Black Mesa started back in 2004. I was nine years old. Christ, it was in development for more than fifty percent of the time I’ve been alive. It’s also about eight times longer than it took to make Half-Life itself but then again, the original title has graphics that make everything look like it's made from cardboard and string. So perhaps it was crying out for a remake. The final chapter certainly was. So how did Black Mesa perform? Well, ninety percent of it was an unqualified success. The other ten percent comes with some pretty heavy qualifications.
Tumblr media
Do I need to sum up the plot? Half-Life has been pretty ingrained in the minds of mainstream gaming by now. Though it did come out twenty-two years ago, so perhaps I should give a brief sum up for those that don’t yet groan when they get up out of a chair. Dr. Gordon Freeman - who earned a PhD despite not being able to speak - clocks in for another day of being a research associate. His degree in theoretical physics is best served by having him push buttons and move rocks from one place to another. However, this all backfires as the buttons and rocks he pushes cause a Resonance Cascade, bridging the gap between our dimension and one full of scary aliens.
As no one but the rock-pusher has the good sense to stick on a hazard suit when working on top-secret dangerous experiments, the cascade has rather disastrous effects on the staff. This shows that Black Mesa has nicely preserved the strong touches of horror that were littered throughout Half-Life. A core focus for this are the headcrab zombies. Headcrabs are little parasitical, four-legged things that like to couple with the heads of humans. Once they get on there, they strip all the flesh from their heads and rip open their chests into one big, scary mouth. It’s a fantastic design and Black Mesa nails it, more so now that it’s not just scientists being unzipped, the guards and soldiers are now getting in on the action.
These zombies are one example of how Black Mesa absolutely nails the atmosphere for the first third of the game. Everything is broken and falling apart, all of your friends have new, scary hats and all of the survivors are so far out of their depth that they last a grand total of five seconds. That feeling does fade a lot during the second third, once the soldiers begin piling in and repeatedly claiming that they have to piss, but Black Mesa does a lot of work to rein things in. The chapter On Rails has been shortened for one, so we’re not spending so long staring at cargo train controls. The level design all round has been tightened up nicely. I’m pretty sure we spend less time crawling through vents, which is definitely a positive.
Tumblr media
The strongest improvement though is the tighter gunplay. It’s still the same set of guns, mind, which range from the tiny pistol to a reverse vacuum cleaner that spews out hot death. Each of these have been given new coats of paint and feel a lot more satisfying than their ‘98 counterpart. The revolver feels particularly good, especially when you nail a headshot on a troublesome soldier and you get to watch them go down hard. The shotgun isn’t bad either and definitely sounds better. Those who’ve read my reviews before know that I love a good shotgun. I can’t really think of a dud in the lot, to be honest, except for perhaps the bee gun. Shooting alien bees is good and all but it’s usually quicker to just use a bullet.
Especially as self preservation is not the top priority of much of the AI. For the aliens, that’s kind of understandable. A huge chunk of them are actual slaves after all. The soldiers on the other hand, well, they’re a bit keen to wander straight into the business end of my gun. Still, it’s a vast improvement over the original, so I can’t harp on it too much. What I will harp on about is the first person platforming, which turns simple jumps into panicked leaps of faith. It doesn’t help that Gordon’s HEV suit seems to have come with inbuilt wheelies, making him slide on further that you’d think. The end result is that you come to rely on the quicksave button.
That also goes for Xen, though to a far lesser extent than back in the day. See, for those that don’t know, Xen was kind of the black sheep of the Half-Life chapters. Thematically interesting but with rather flat interiors, frustrating platforming and a lot of preamble before we got to the finale. Black Mesa has certainly knocked it out of the park on the first one at least. There were two moments that made me audibly gasp. The first was when I emerged into Xen for the first time and saw everything in front of me; the vast expanse of another dimension. It took my breath away. As did another of the changes, although for a different reason. I entered a small research station on Xen and was greeted by a human voice. It was a glitchy recorded voice, claiming that the user’s death was imminent. A few steps further and I found the source: a headcrab zombie, clad in an HEV suit.
Tumblr media
It shocked me first because it was the only human voice I’d heard since I’d arrived (that wasn’t telepathically fired at me). Mostly though, it was because it hammered home how we weren’t in Kansas anymore. The HEV suit might have protected us before but now it was clear that all bets were off. It wasn’t even the thought of death that did it because there’s the constant, uncomfortable knowledge that the poor bastard inside that HEV suit is still, cruelly, alive.
Unfortunately, these moments become sparse as you progress through Xen. The original Xen was fairly lengthy but in their efforts to reimagine the borderworld, Crowbar Collective have made it about three times longer. Not the best move as it does start to grate. It does look a lot better - and there are a few new creature types to grapple with - but Gordon is so strong by that point that it feels a lot like a drag. Especially when there are levels that charge your health, shields and ammo all at once. As a result, there are numerous moments where you think you’re about to hit the final boss but then it just carries on. The most notable one being a long lift ride upwards, complete with fantastic music, a super powered reverse vacuum cleaner and a load of flying enemies. It felt like some strange parallel universe Luigi’s Mansion. Fantastic fun.
But then it ended and we were right back to riding conveyor belts, which was a bit disappointing really. Everything after that began to feel like a slog. Still, the redesign of Xen - and the game in general - has been a good one. I would actually recommend new players to play Black Mesa over the original Half-Life. The changes are positive on the whole but crucially it serves to enhance the great atmosphere, imaginative enemies and nice storyline of the original. It may have taken a long, long time in the oven but, aside from a few blemishes, Black Mesa has turned out to be quite the delicious dish. Pros - Gunplay has been tightened up - Level design has some good improvements - The original setpieces are as good as ever - Nails the spooky atmosphere - Great soundtrack Cons - Xen stretches on for far too long - The first person platforming is agonising - AI is a bit odd Black Mesa Developer: Crowbar Collective Release Date: March 6th 2020 Play it on: Windows, Linux Played on: Windows

SUPER SMASH BROS UNIVERSE Part 1, Chapter 3: Jungle Hair
AT THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM HOT SPRINGS…
At the brink where Peach’s Castle meets the Kongo Jungle, Yoshi and his Luma stand; they’re looking at the steaming hot spring that Bowser created. The Koopa King’s airship still flies above the castle. Yoshi can hear a rumbling from behind the castle doors. He can’t get too close or someone will hear him for sure. He circles around the rampart to find someplace more concealing. He sees the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom is flooded. This has to be because of the earthquake! It looks like Yoshi’s Island isn’t the only thing damaged by the shift. As Yoshi peers into the castle he can hear Bowser complaining and throwing things.
“The whole Mushroom Kingdom is flooded and Mario is nowhere to be found!” Bowser screams. “This plan was useless!”
Yoshi and Luma are relieved to hear that Mario and the others aren’t caught up in this mess. But where could they have gone? The Kongo Jungle? Or maybe his own island? He isn’t sure if either of those places are safe to be in! Yoshi tells the Luma to tell Rosalina what they saw. Luma concentrates and sends a message to one of Rosalina’s Lumas, they should hear back any second now. Yoshi’s Luma explains that Rosalina wants them to come to the Space Observatory immediately. The Luma turns into a super launch star and catapults Yoshi to the Space Observatory.
AT THE SPACE OBSERVATORY…
Yoshi crashes into the Observatory roof! It is a small building; Rosalina’s Office, which is about half the size of Peach’s Castle. It has one long pointed roof, painted blue in resemblance to Rosalina’s dress. Surrounding the office is a circular courtyard where the rest of the Lumas can relax. There are a few buildings underneath the Observatory that act as living quarters for visitors.
“He does get a lota height when he jumps!” Mario adds.
The Mario brothers climb onto the roof and bring Yoshi down to the ground where his Luma is there to meet him. They bring the basketball star/dinosaur and his friend to Rosalina’s office. As they navigate around the observatory, Yoshi sees toads, goombas, and other koopas wandering about. He assumes that what was left of the Mushroom Kingdom must be living here. In Rosalina’s office, there is cylinder which acts as the power source and a large computer on the far wall.
“Welcome Yoshi, it’s good to see that you’re okay,” Rosalina greets and turns around to face the map. “Because the rest of the world isn’t.”
“It seems that we have lost most of the world. Not cause of that earthquake.” Mario explains. “There’s something more at stake.”
“This is the map of the world,” Rosalina starts to zoom in on aspects of the map. “This is the Mushroom Kingdom,” not too far from it Rosalina points at “the Kongo Jungle. They are right on top of each other. And Yoshi’s Island, is smashed into this other continent.”
Yoshi coos at Mario. He makes other noises that only Mario can really decipher. “I think Yoshi is saying he lost someone,” Yoshi coos again. “Or maybe everyone!”
“That’s uh- Sarasaland right?” Luigi points to the desert land to the west of the Kongo Jungle.
           “I believe so,” Rosalina answers.
“S-so Daisy might be alive? She might still be here?” Luigi stammers.
“It’s possible! However, I haven’t heard anything from her Luma.”
“I say, w-we go find out for ourselves!” Luigi is hesitantly confident.
“I say you’re right,” Rosalina agrees.
“Ooh, I was hoping you wouldn’t say that,” Luigi whimpers.
“You, Yoshi, and I will go down there are try to scope everything out, alright Luigi?” Mario questions his brother.
           “Alright,” Luigi gives in.
“I think if you are down there we can get a better look at what happened during the shift. I’ll send you to the Kongo Jungle, that way you can try and find Peach,” Rosalina instructs.
           “Sounds good!” Mario cheers.
“And give this Luma to Donkey Kong, it is time we are all on the same page.”
“Hey boss!” Captain Toad comes from the outer courtyard area. With him is Toadette. “If you thought we were gonna let you go on an adventure without us-“
           “Never!” Mario cheers.
“Well it looks like you’ll have some more company,” Rosalina is pleased.
           “Let’s go!” Toadette cheers.
Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi get their Lumas and meet near the landing dock of the Space Observatory. Captain Toad and Toadette run up to Mario with various nap sacks of supplies. Rosalina wishes them goodbye as jump off the dock and the Lumas carry them towards the Kongo Jungle. They look at the crowd of toads, goombas, and koopas as they give them good luck. The Space Observatory slowly gets smaller and smaller as they travel closer to the earth.
IN THE KONGO JUNGLE…
Peach wakes up sweating. Her body sticks to the skirt she is wearing. As she wipes her forehead she feels her frizzy hair up in different directions. Peach looks around the treehouse and she is alone, perfect. It is nothing but her and the creaking of wood. Well, and the bugs that live in the leaves that act as bed sheets. Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong found the rest of Peach’s luggage with the other carriages: the luggage with her other clothes. She changes into something more comfortable and heads outside. While inspecting the other carriages, Diddy and Dixie didn’t find the rest of Peach’s council. Although this worries her, she is glad to see Toadsworth getting accustomed to a different way of living. Peach steps out of the treehouse to see Toadsworth eating bananas with Donkey Kong.
Diddy and Dixie surf through the trees to the camp, they have something to show everyone. DK runs towards them, Peach looks at Toadsworth, what could it be? After the Kongs coo at each other, Diddy and Dixie jump back into the jungle. DK picks of Peach and Toadsworth again. Peach laughs at Toadsworth cringing. They glide through the trees until they meet the two other Kongs.
There’s a whole swarm of kritters, King K. Rool’s minions! They guard a cage that binds Toadstern, The Chancellor, and Toad Minister. They stay silent in the trees, not moving an inch, but examining everything with their eyes. Peach and Toadsworth watch in amazement, then, start to focus. The horde of kritter’s are led by little Kremlings called Kip and Kass. After the Kongs memorized the camp, they silently leave the vicinity.
“We have to save them DK!” Peach protests. He hears her, but continues on his path to the treehouse. Donkey Kong enters the tree house and rumbles through some things. CLANK! There is a crash. DK comes out of the tree house with a barrel blaster and two peanut guns. Diddy gets giddy and runs to snatch his favorite toys. DK then pulls out a brush. Dixie complains, but DK makes her brush her hair. Peach and Toadsworth watch as Dixie takes her hat off and pulls the hair tie out. WHOOP! Dixie’s blonde mane turns into a large blonde afro so fast that it scares Toadsworth.
Diddy Kong is at the top of the treehouse with a blue egg in his hand. Diddy throws the egg high up in the air, it falls back in his arms. Diddy looks around, nothing. He tries it again, this time an orange bird catches it! The bird, Kazooie catches the egg and lands in front of Peach and Dixie. Slowly following the bird is Banjo the bear! The Kongs clap! Banjo-Kazooie goes over to DK to discuss the plan.
Dixie grabs Peach’s frizzy hair and puts some butter in it. Dixie manages to pat down all of the frizz in her hair. Dixie then ties it into a nice braid. DK and Diddy are fascinated, so they grab some of the gel and butter for themselves. They start to shape their body hair into different patterns; Diddy is fond of the triangles he draws on his leg. While, DK drew an entire jungle landscape on his back.
After that little bit of fun, everyone is ready to go to the kritter camp and save the others.
IN THE KONGO JUNGLE…
Captain Toad leads the group throughout the jungle; he holds his compass out. Toadette stays on top of Luigi’s head to look out for potential danger, for she has the sharpest eyes in all of the Mushroom Kingdom. The Lumas roam around them to record data for Rosalina’s virtual map. They scribble on a paper map the routes of the jungle. As the gang tumbles through the jungle, Rosalina is watching with a close eye from the Space Observatory. She can track all of the Lumas from her computer.
Yoshi stops abruptly, Mario and Captain Toad react by stopping too. Luigi does but only after he stumbles over himself. Yoshi smells something, his nose flares and rises in the air. WOOSH! Yoshi starts flying toward the scent. The others follow to try and catch Yoshi. They watch as Yoshi disappears within the rest of the green. Toad and the Lumas can’t keep up with Mario and Luigi. A large branch pokes out of the ground and trips Luigi, smashing Toadette into the ground. Mario avoids the large obstacles and finds Yoshi, who is looking at a pile of fruit in the middle of a clearing.
“Yoshi, we gotta go!” Mario protests.
In the clearing there are large huts, kritters come out of them and look around; they must’ve heard Mario. He pulls Yoshi away from the camp. But the shifting makes another distinct noise. The kritters lunge towards their direction while Mario and Yoshi run back to the others.
As Mario and Yoshi run away they hear the kritters getting closer and closer. Yoshi tumbles on a root and knocks Mario down with him. The kritters are right on top of the two with their mouth’s open to strike, BAM! Captain Toad hits one of the kritters with a hammer. The three other kritters in the chase slow down and get in a defense position. Luigi throws fire balls at the other two and Toadette throws stones. The lumas body slam the one kritter still conscious and save Mario and Yoshi.
“That isn’t happening ever again!” Luigi says as he helps Yoshi and Mario up. “We need to focus on finding the prin –er, I mean Queen”
“Don’t look at me it was him!” Mario blames Yoshi who grins sweetly, as if it would account for the trouble he caused. They continue on their journey and hope that they don’t run into any other creepy kritters.
LATER AT THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM HOT SPRINGS…
Bowser is redecorating the old Peach’s Castle. Well, the koopalings are redecorating the place as Bowser rests. He is adamant that the koopalings get everything together because other Koopa families are going to be living with them. Wendy is in charge of taking down the wedding decorations because Bowser hates looking at them. Larry and Iggy are in charge of making boats so people can travel outside of the castle. Morton and Roy need to clean up the debris from the flood. Ludwig is in charge of crafting a new telescope so he can see if visitors are climbing the wall. Bowser keeps Lemmy for entertainment, and Bowser Jr. has to change the flags.
None of the koopas besides Lemmy are interested in doing what they are told. Wendy ends up crying because she hasn’t been able to find a koopa who loves her. Larry and Iggy make wooden swords out of the material they were supposed to use for the row boats. Morton and Roy find the food stash. Ludwig finishes the telescope, but returns to work on his teleportation device. As Bowser Jr. starts putting up the flags, he has an idea. He goes to find Larry and Iggy then brings them to the roof. There they use the Mushroom Kingdom flags as a blanket to slide down the roof and into the water. As Larry and Iggy slide, three, four, and five times, Bowser Jr. gets the others to join them. Soon enough, Wendy, Morton, and even Ludwig are sliding down the roof and splashing into the water.
“You should really be doing what Bowser says or he will be angry with you,” Kamek screeches to the koopas.
“Buzz off!” Iggy says and continues to slide down the roof.
Kamek runs off to Bowser in the great hall, he hopes that the Koopa King will do something about the children’s terrible behavior. However, Bowser seems too occupied with Lemmy at the moment.
“Do it again! Do it again!” Bowser cheers Lemmy on, who is bouncing on a ball and doing back flips off it. Lemmy starts to jump on the ball, he is getting high into the air and then starts to flip.
“King Bowser,” Kamek starts.
“Not now Kamek, can’t you see I’m spending time with my son!”
“But Bowser!”
“Not now!” Bowser goes back to cheering on Lemmy who just did two backflips off of the ball.
AT KIP AND KASS’ KRITTER KAMP…
Right outside the kritter camp, DK, Diddy, Dixie, Peach, Banjo-Kazooie, and Toadsworth are watching. They devise a plan to grab the keys and release the toad council from their cell. DK expects there to be some fighting and is confident that they will win.
Toadsworth is small and maneuvers through the shrubs without being detected. He makes his way to the part that is closest to Kip and Kass’ tent. Toadsworth looks around and doesn’t see any kritters paying attention. He then looks over to see Peach giving him a thumbs up. Toadsworth rushes over and rolls into the tent. Commotion erupts immediately; growls and banging are heard within the tent, drawing kritters over to it. Dixie has already made her way to that end of the camp and sneaks behind Kip and Kass’ tent.
In the tent, Toadsworth is wrestling with Kip, and losing. He jabs the two kritters with a scepter and manages to grab the key off of Kip’s hip. Toadsworth struggles, but then breaks free for a moment and rolls over to the backside of the tent. He slides the key under the tent and watches as Dixie snags it. Then Donkey Kong arrives to knock out the kritters that are hounding Toadsworth. Kip and Kass tell the kritters to leave DK to them.
Dixie approaches the jail cell and it’s guarded by two kritters. Peach and Diddy appear from the bushes and knock both kritters out. The kritters start to charge toward the cell. Diddy and Dixie lunge at the crowd to fight them off. Peach unlocks the cell and frees the council. Kritters start to attack Peach. She manages to slap away a few of the kritters but they are too tough for her. A kritter cuts Peach in the face but is then hit by a blue egg.
Suddenly, out of the sky more blue eggs come crashing down on the kritters. The blue eggs are coming from Banjo-Kazooie. As they land on the kritter camp they knock out the kritters near Peach and lead her and the council to safety. Banjo-Kazooie help the Kongs beat the rest of the kremlings. DK lets Kip and Kass run back to their boss. A bloody and bruised Toadsworth stumbles out of the tent; the council run from the bushes to his aid. Now that they rescued the council, everyone heads back to the treehouse before any kremlings come back.
At the treehouse, everyone celebrates their victory. Banjo-Kazooie and the Kongs talk about how small the jungle is. Diddy tells them about the mysterious earthquake that changed the world. Peach thanks them for saving her. The Kongs and Banjo-Kazooie continue to reminisce about the old days while Peach brings the council to the treehouse.
“Peach, we have to get back to the Mushroom Kingdom, we cannot live with these beasts forever,” Toad Minister says.
“Those ‘beasts’ just saved you,” Toadsworth snaps. Peach is glad to see Toadsworth lightening up.
“You can’t be okay with this too Toadsworth?” Toad Minister asks.
“I am not, but we don’t have any other option.”
“Maybe we can have Diddy and Dixie walk us back to the castle,” Peach suggests.
           “And then what?” Toadstern asks.
“While the rest of the Kingdom is surrounded by water?” Toad Minister adds.
“Maybe Rosalina can keep us in the Space Observatory?” Peach is throwing any solution she can.
“How are we supposed to govern a kingdom from space?” Toad Minister questions.
“What Kingdom?” Peach quiets the room. “What Kingdom is left for us to govern?”
“The one you fought for today,” Toadsworth comments. “Despite everything you’ve lost and all the things that have changed, you are still fighting for the Mushroom Kingdom.”
“We are staying in this treehouse until we can make a decision,” Peach says. “And if no one can agree, then we are doing what I say!”
There is a knock from the entrance, someone stands behind the curtain-door. A white glove draws back the curtain and there stands Mario. Peach rushes towards him; arms open. THUD! She rushes at him so hard that they fall from the treehouse.
“Sorry Mario,” Peach laughs. “I’m just glad to see you.”
“It’s alright Peach,” Mario smiles. Yoshi had smelled the bananas from miles away, that is what brought them there. Captain Toad protested the plan, but Yoshi had a feeling that the bananas meant the Kongs were nearby.
“What happened to ya prin –Peach?” Mario asks, looking at her scars and bruises.
“We rescued Toad Minister and the others from a horde of Kremlings!” she explains.
           “You what?”
“With the help of the Kongs, of course. And Banjo and Kazooie. For once I had the exciting adventure.”
           “Yes, Peach, yes you did.”

Hints
Easy Way To Unlock People
First go to Special Brawl Put stamia. Then, put your stamia up to 300 and the peson your against put it to 1 or 10 and always pick fox so when you brawl you just need to shot them but this will take a while before you unlock somebody.
Easier Zero Suit Samus
Instead of waiting for the Super Smash ball to come into play, simply press the – button at the same time you press the + button for the same effect right after you choose samus.
Permanent Giant Jigglypuff
Hey out there, all you Jigglypuff lovers. I have a hint for you. Do you like Jigglypuff’s final smash? I can make it permanent. Ok, when you are at the bridge of Eldin, get the smash ball before fatso on the pig comes to blow up the part of the bridge. Then when he blows it up, wait for it to regenerate. This requires perfect timing, but when you have the smash ball, and the bridge is comng back, jump to the enpty space and activate it when the part is coming back to make jigglypuff grow, the she will get hurt and the effects will be permanent unless she is killed. But there are two little drawbacks. First off, she will hardly be able to move quickly, cutting her speed. And, don’t use pound or the forward smash attack, otherwise, she will go beyond the boundry and die. well, hope you liked it!
Easy Way To Unlock All Characters
On the main menu click Group then click Rules andselect stock of lives as one then go back andclick Special Brawl and make it so that Staminaand Flower modes are on. Then choose yourcharacter and make its health any number over one. Then make the computer’s health one. Then playthe battle. After it starts the computer loses ina second or less and if you keep playing thebattles like that over and over every so oftenyou’ll be challenged by a new opponent. Win andhe or she or it is unlocked to play as, if youlose just play another easy battle and you’ll bechallenged again. Play for about 500 totalbattles and all bonus characters should challengeyou by then.
How To Get Easy Bannana And Queodon Trophy
First go to training an select kirby the enemy can be random then choose the temple from melee stages pin the foe against the pillar it was near at the begining and use kirby multiple punch go to 10 or 400 (you can also get Queodon trophy).
How To Beat Muti-man Brawl
Choose DK as your charecter and when you get to the muti-man brawls press Down Band Dk should start slapping the ground and they will die easily.
Double Gunner
To attack with double guns, first go to the options and go to the Item Switch. Select only Ray Gun, Super Scope, Cracker Launcher, Crate, and put the Item rate to VERY HIGH. Then select Ice Climbers as your character. Choose a flat stage with no or small inclines, such as Pictochat. As soon as the battle starts, grab two guns. Press the A button rapidly. Nana and Popo will both have guns, and will start firing both of them.
Easier Way To Beat Any Multi-man Brawl Except Cruel Brawl
To defeat any multi-man brawl (except cruel brawl) choose lucario as your character and go to the right edge and hold up+A and he should start kicking. The thing is that when Lucario starts kicking he kicks foward and backward and above him so he will hit anybody who comes in contact. One more thing: be careful not to hit a bomb that comes out of nowhere. They sometimes appear right next to you.
Cool Battle Arena
Go to Vault on the Main Menu and then click on Stage Builder. When yo create the stage go down to the bottom to features and use the light blue block (It may be a different color depending on what background you choose but it is definitely not the brown with an arrow on it.) Place these blocks in square shape (make it as big as you want)but leave out a hole that is as big as two of the blocks that you have used (You can just make a full square and then delete the 2 middle ones.)That is how to build it but it is not any fun without doing Special Brawl and turning 300% on and increasing the damage ratio to 2.0 in the options. Doing that will make the Brawlers/Fighters bounce like crazy inside the box/square and the only way they can die is going through the hole that you made at the top!
Floating Hammer
When you get the golden hammer you will be able to float of the stage by repeatably pressing A. But if the hammer does not destroy anybody in your path then do not attempt it. Its best to try this at training mode first.
Character To Beat Tabbu With
An easy way to beat Tabbu is surprisingly withpokemon trainer. Any careful player will only getknocked off when Tabbu does his shockwave. Withpokemon trainer make the pokemon trainer call thepokemon into the ball. You have to time itextremely carefully though. When the 3 shockwavespass the pokemon that emerges will be unharmed. This can possibly work for some other of Tabbusattacks as well.
What Those Hammers Are For.
If you’ve ever been to the challenges page in the vault and you see something that looks like a hammer in some of the boxes, then you are looking the only thing in the game where you can get trophies or anything in the challenges area without having to do in order to get them. If you get a hammer, then you go to a box that looks impossible to open with your skills, then you scroll down until you highlight a hammer, press A and go to the impossible box and press A again. When the window comes up, make sure you picked the right one and hit OK. Congrats! You’ve just learned a secret that saves an enormous amount of time.
Giga Jigglypuff
Go to Bridge of Edin choose Jigglypuff and Yoshi. Then use Jigglypuff’s FinalSmash when the bridge is coming back together and she will be HUGE. Then use Yoshi’s B over and over she will get BIGGER and BIGGER til’ she’s to big for the stage and dies.
Snake,Fox,Falco,and Wolf Calling Tricks.
With the following characters in the tittle you can make them call other characters in the game. The player has to rapidly press Down Taunt on the correct stage for that character. But bevcarefull if they get hit during this sequence they can’t do it again. I’m going to list what stage and character is required. (Easiest with Nunchuck, Classic, and Nintendo game cube controller) Snake-Shadow Moses Island, the following characters he will call. Conel, Ottocon, Mei Ling, and you wont believe this! SLIPPY from Starfox. If snake dies during the sequence something intresting will happen. Fox, Falco-Lylat Cruise, and CorneriaWolf-Lylat Cruise only!
Invisible Item
In training mode be captain falcon bring in a final smash break it and use it on your opponent before it ends rapidly bring in sand bags until the Special Attack ends you shouldn’t see anyitems, (unless you had some out already) now start attacking with any ground close up attackyou will now see the streamers but not the sand bag (and I think it works with box’s and barrels too).
Block Links Final Smash
A simple way to block Links final smash is to get a bomb o bomb then keep it in your hand and then let him hit you this might not work but it worked for me 5 times!
Funny Picture Trick
First make a custom stage with the nature background. It needs a long platform. Then go to brawl and pick toon link and fox. On that stage make fox run across the platform and make toon link jump high above him. With Toon Link use his down and A. Pause the game as soon as toon link hits fox. If you timed it right then you should have gotten a photo of a sword going through foxes head and he looks surprised. And toon links face looks really angry.
Final Smash (Sonic)
This is so simple. All you have to do is get the smash ball, and Sonic turns right into the invincible Super Sonic!
How To Unlock Areas
The main way to unlock areas is to use a certain character or battle in a certain place a certain amount of times. for example to unlock the melee stage Big Blue you need to battle on port smith areo drive 15 to 25 times, or to unlock luigi’s mansion you have to use luigi 3 times, or to unlock 75k. (kilometers) you use donkey kong 25 to 35 times. Most of the time you will have to use character/or area for quite a while. some areas you unlock just by by unlocking a character such as unlocking pirate ship, to do this you unlock toon link. you can check how to unlock areas on the challenges page in the vault (the ones you haven’t unlocked are red).
How To Get Alot Of Trophies And Stickers
The easiest way to get a lot of trophies and stickers is to first get a lot of coins as in over 1000 of them. Then go to vault. Got to trophies and stickers. And in there is the coin launcher. When a set of little targets comes out you need to shoot all of set to get points, this is also how you get stickers. The points are used to give you the “BLAS AWAY”. When this comes three trophies will come out. Trophies will come out on there own. To collect them you need to shoot them a couple times. When you are done you just press the + button. On that screen you press quit. Don’t forget each shot uses a coin.
How To Get Extremely Rare Trophies.
While in the subspace emissary you will sometimes find a trophy stand, if you pick this up you can throw it at one of the regular monsters, this will instantly kill them and they will turn into trophies, you can then take the trophy. This is the only way to get certain rare trophies.
How To Beat Meta Ridley
The easiest way I found to beat Meta Ridley is to go right on the back end of captain falcons ship and hit him when he comes near, be careful this strategy can backfire since you are constantly pushed back by the wind. When mtea ridley flies up into the air suddenly the you must get as high off the ship as possible, trust me you don’t want to be on there when he comes down. When meta ridley pules the ship down you hit him quick, if you don’t you take a lot of damage. Characters skilled at ranged attacks will probably do well. I suggest having a friend to help you out.
Beating 100 Brawl Easier.
An easier way to defeat 100 Brawl is by using the following characters and moves: 1. Lucario: Up+A – Lucario starts to kick on top, in front, and behind him damaging his opponents. 2. Kirby: Jump+Down B – Jump in the air and turn Kirby into a rock. This will blast away your enemies. 3. Donkey Kong: Down+B – Donkey Kong starts to pound the ground hurting his enemies near him. 4. Mario: Up+B – Mario uses his recovery move the Super Jump Punch blasting any enemy he hits. 5. Pikachu: Down smash attack – Pikachu spins around while using an electric attack. He blasts away any enemy that comes in contact.
Final Smashes For The Best Characters
Mario: Maria Finalle, try to get to the center platform on the stage and face your enemies, and use your Beastly Fireworks. Zelda: Light Arrow, just grab the target, throw them forward, and when they get up, SHOOT THE ARROW RIGHT AWAY so the target can’t avoid it! Lucario: Aura Blast, Throw a smart bomb at the targets so they can’t dodge your blast and, like Zelda, USE THE BLAST RIGHT AWAY FOR MAX DAMAGE!
Awesome Place To Fight
To build this awesome place to fight, first youmake a really, really big U shape with those bluesquares in the bottom category features. Then youput a bunch of those falling red blocks along thewhere the top of the square is. If you make thisright, you make all players inside the square andwhen the red things appear back up all the playersare trapped inside the big square. If you everwant the match to end you might as well make it atimed match when you brawl on it. If youdon’t want everyone to continuously die make afloor of any kind a couple spaces under the trap.
Defeat Subspace Emissionary in Subspace
When you get into subspace look at you’re map and there is flashing little dots on you’re map when you kill enough of the shadow players and then there is bigger flashing dots when you see a unexplored door and once you kill all of the shadow players then you vs tabuu. He’s not that hard if you’re good with sonic if you have unlocked him already or sumer or people with fast jump up attacks.
Easy All Fighters
Instead of playing 500 brawls to get all the fighters. Just go to solo and choose sub-space and beat it. Every time you get a fighter to join your team that you haven’t unlocked and you save and quit you will get that fighter without even fighting them but it takes a while so be calm.
Dodge Tabuu’s Shock Wave
All you have to do is the side dodge. If you are careful, you can beat it.
Easy Meteor Smash
Use captain falcons side-b special in mid-air on some one.
Easy Home Run Contest
Go to the Home Run Contest. Choose the character Ike. when you start the contest move as close to the sandbag as possible without going through it or hit to the opposite side of the field. Then hold down A, until Ike automatically swings his sword and a ”explosion” occurs and the sandbag will go flying.
Change Color Of Character
If you want to change the color of your characterjust press be on your Wii remote or press thecharacter.
Ike’s Sword In Mid Air
First play multilayer brawl. One person pick Ike the other picks anyone. set items to have only smart bombs. Use Ike’s up special (Either) when ike’s sword is in mid air when his about to jump up and grab it have the second player throw a smart bomb at Ike. If done correctly Ike’s sword will stay in mid air for a few seconds while the smart bomb goes off.
Allies In Basic Brawl Wi-fi
In the beginning of the brawl, taunt a few times. If they taunt, go over to them and taunt with them.If they taunt, they will not hurt you and they will team up with you.
Throw Electrode
Once in a while if you open a pokeball and electrode comes out sometimes he sparks and give out. If and when he does, pick him up and throw him at your opponent.
Cruel Brawl And 15 Minute Brawl In Multiman Brawl
An easy way to kill 10 enemies in Cruel Brawl is to use Pit and fly under the Platform. Do NOT touch the floor on top. Always cling to the edge and then let go. And fly to the other side. And as you do this for about 5 to 7 minutes, slowly, a man will fall off and A KO will be recorded. With The 15minute Brawl u have to fly under the platform for 15 minutes. Its really boring but thats the only way to do it.
Easy 5000 Coins
Build a stage with spikes at the bottom, then play with a friend and just sit on the spikes and collect coins. Set the time for about 20 minutes.
Homerun Contest
The way you get a far distance in the contest is to beat up the sandbag with any character. Once it starts to count down grab the bat. Move the analog stick on the nunchuck and press A. Make sure you’re not to far away from the sandbag and not to close to it.
Easy Way To Get The Ouendan Trophy
Go to training and select Kirby (your opponent doesn’t matter) select the temple under Melee stages pause the game and put opponent (should be on stop) on control then turn help on. then after you’ve done this pin your opponent against the pillar they started beside then hold A until the “consecutive hits” meter hits 400 then KO your opponent and quit training mode
Easy Characters
To get almost all of the characters very easy justplay the subspace emissary and whenever you see anew playable character that character will beunlocked.
Alloy Similarities
The Alloys have move similarities. Red is Captain Falcon. Blue is Zelda. Yellow is Mario. And green is Kirby.
Final Smash Trophies
To get the Final Smash trophies, simply complete All-Star mode on any difficulty with the character you want the trophy for. And believe me, they’re cool!
Subspace Emissary
It makes little to no difference who you beat the final battle of Subspace Emissary with. But that’s not why I wrote this. If you beat Subspace Emissary, you will unlock almost every character. Only for a few characters do you have to unlock by completing special requirements.
Another Co-op Home-run Contest
Other than the one mentioned above, there is another way that I do Co-op Home-run Contest. Me and my friend got 2 Foxes and used the blaster on Sandbag for around seven or eight seconds. Trust me, it WORKS.
Beat Tabuu Easily!
On the last level of subspace, you will have to fight the almighty Tabuu. An easy way to beat him is to pick the characters Sonic and Samus. Also pick a few others like people with strong jump attacks.
Co-op Home-run Contest
Get two people and chose sonic and yoshi. Rightwhen it starts sonic runs over there and does upA(on the game cube controller)(the up spin attack)while yoshi runs and gets the bat. Then beforesonic finishes his move. Yoshi needs to use thebicycle kick down on it(which is down A on thegame cube controller). Do this over and over andit will do massive damage. Me and my friend got135% before we even hit it with the bat. Hope thishelps and give me any feed back if you need helpwith it.
Pokemon Trainer Switch
Whenever you use the pokemon trainers pokemon, you will start off with Squirtle, Ivysaur, or Charzard. To alternate these pokemon, simply press down-B.

Glitches
Giant Zelda/Sheik Glitch
I Have Found a Staying Giant Glitch for not only Jigglypuff But for Zelda/Sheik (funny because there both Girls) The Glitch Is when you are a different character than Zelda but 2play needed for Zelda/Sheik. You need a item called the Lightning Bolt Which Shrinks other players. Use it on Zelda But the one that haywires and makes Her Big (twice as effective than Super Mushroom) Then Play Zelda and Transform into Sheik then Back to Zelda and There is the Glitch. Honestly When I first did this, i thought it was HACKED!

How To Get Epona
Although it has already been submitted hot to get Epona, I had a hard time following the instructions provided. Here is a more explanatory set of instructions: To get Epona the horse, shown when you start the game and it says press start, you have to go to Lon Lon Ranch as young Link after Talon has gone home. Talk to Malon, who is in the field. She teaches you Epona’s Song. Now return as older Link and you learn that Ingo, the angry farmhand, has taken over the ranch. Talk to him by the horse field and pay him 10 rupees to ride a horse. Ride a regular horse. Talk to him by stopping your horse by him and using Z. Challenge him to a race, he will bet 50 rupees. You will lose because your horse stinks. Now become young Link and walk up the drawbridge chain and wait or make it night with the Sun’s Song. Get the 60 rupees and go into the courtyard of the castle and come back out and get the rupees again. Repeat until your money is maxed out. Go to the ranch as older Link and this time play Epona’s song to make her come. Race Ingo, and hit A until all your carrots are gone then stop pressing it until they come back. Epona is naturally better than all the other horses, but it takes practice to beat Ingo. Get past him by passing between him and the fence. Use your carrots. When he comes on the fence side, block him by moving to the fence. When he goes out in the field, go diagonally and block him so you get ahead of him. When you win he throws a fit and bets the horse (Epona). This time it is harder. Do what I said above, with more emphasis on the blocking part. When you beat him this time he gets mad because now Ganondorf will hate him because he had promised him Epona. He locks you in the field by locking the gate by the house and barn, and says you will not leave the ranch until you give Epona back. Do a half-lap and use carrots to hop the fence (it is easy). You now have Epona and she will come if you play Epona’s Song in Hyrule Field. She helps you get the Big Poes for an empty bottle.
Fireworks!
When you use a bomb on a gossip stone (one-eyed rock), after a while, it will fly in the sky and eventually, the stone will blow up.
Hurting Epona
While you are riding Epona, take out your bow and shoot her on the neck and she will make a loud nay.
Looooong Dive
This doesn’t have anything to do with the progression of the game, but it’s fun anyway. As adult link go to the Gerodos cannion after the bridge has been rebuilt. Walk out to the middle of the bridge, turn away from the waterfall(faceing the waterfall makes a shorter dive) and run of the edge. Don’t roll or it won’t work, just run off the edge of the bridge and link will do a very very long dive down to the river. This won’t work with link wearing his hover boots either, that with just end up having you listening to link scream half the way down.(Thats embarrising to hear a warrior scream his lungs out, but its fun too :)heh heh heh) After the dive the water current should take link to lake hylia. (Ain’t that the longest swan dive you’ve ever seen!!)
Get To The Bottom Of The Well
As you notice, the well is dried up as adult Link but he cannot get in it. But there is a way in. Have the song of storms handy. Turn into kid link. Go to the windmill and yep, play the song of storms for the man. The windmill will go out of control and the water will dry up in the so called wet well. Than when you climb down the well as Kid link you will notice an entrance at the bottom of the well. You are now in the umm.place where you can find the hover boots!
Get 20 Rupees
As a child/adult go into the room right next to the gate to the market on the inside. The should be a Gaurd/Old guy in there. The pot to the right of the window closest to the door has a red ruppee! (worth 20!). Repeat if neccessary.
Angry Guard In Castle
Enter the Princess’s castle and go to the yard where you speak to her. On the Opposite side of the Mario pictures, there will be another window. Hit it with the slingshot and a guard will pop out by the window. He will yell at you then throw a bomb at you so run fast before it blows up.
Turning Smoke
To make smoke turn you have to go to the volcano using the “ballad of fire”. Once there press the TOP C button to look around but instead look up and start turning in circles so the smoke coming from the two big rocks will start turning.
Make Link Moonwalk
To make Link do a little number from Micheal Jackson, enter a room or place in which you cannot look around with C+Up (like the stable in Lon Lon Ranch) and equip the Iron Boots (these can be found in the Ice Cavern) and press and hold Z. Walk backwards and watch Link move! You don’t have to do it, but it’s pretty funny.
Repaired Signs
When you cut a sign with your sword, play Zelda’s Lullaby on your Ocarina. Doesn’t matter which ocarina!
Make Link Run/Walk Like An Idiot
To make Link do this, keep pressing the Z button repeatidly and he will walk stupid.
Secret Suprise
This code is kind of wierd, but I think you’ll like it. If you put ZELDA as your name you get a “SECRET SURPRISE”. It’s different for every game cartrage.
Gossip Stone’s Tricks
Dim's Fire: Use Dim's Fire and it will spin like a tornado.Special Arrows: They will be the same of Dim's Fire.Megaton Hammer: It get's it flaten. All Swords: It just bounce's up and down.LongShot: When you hit it it will shake, and boggie.Bomb: This is the best one. Hit it with a bomb and it will count down and will launch in the air, There goes appolo 14
Over 100 Gold Skultulas
You must have: Bombs, Boomerang, And the Song of Storms to do this trick. – In order to get as many gold skultullas as you want, you should go to the tree right next to where you first met Talon. Then you play the song of storms. A hole will open and you can jump down. You will see that parts of the wall are able to be bombed, so bomb the walls, and behind one of them is a gold skulltula get right up next to the teleporter so you have it as close as you can behind you. once you kill the gold skultulla, Z-target the coin, then throw your boomerang at it, as it comes back, do a back-flip into the teleporter, you will get the coin. if you go back down there, the skulltula will still be there, You can do this as many times as you want.
Hidden Pictures
Go to where Zelda is met for the first time. Then, look into the window on his left, as you enter. Pictures of Yoshi, Princess Toadstool, Mario, Bowser and Luigi can now be seen. Look from different angles to see them all. Throw something into the window with Mario to receive 20 rupees. Throwing something into the other window will result in a lit bomb being thrown back at Link.
Superslide
Probably the hardest, but most useful. Do a backflip, then in mid-backflip pull out a bomb and press R to drop it. It should be far enough away so that the action icon does not say “grab”. Near the end of the bombs fuse, about 1/2 a second after it starts flashing rapidly, mash the A button. You will roll and you should “grab” the bomb but not actually grab it. If you timed it right it will blow up when you get up and you will superslide. Notes:superslides can usually clip into.
Mega Faceplant
You can use either adult or kid Link for this. First, go to Gerudo Valley. Right next to the bridge at the entrance there is a huge trench. Have Link run up and swan dive off the edge. At the bottom there is a platform with a cow on it. Push forward on the joystick to aim right for the platform. I think you can guess what happens next. Make sure you have a lot of health, because this is very harmful to Link’s anime face. This is fun to do when you have beaten the game and have nothing else to do. Get free milk from the cow that is down there by playing Epona’s song right next to it.
Hidden Tunics
When your a adult go to gorons tunics is in the the gorgons city throw a bomb on the little gorgon ask him about the dragon he will give you a fire proof tunic. When your an adult go to ice cavern get the blue fire defrost the king zora and give you a infinite breath underwater.
Another Tip About The Deku Club
Another way to get the deku club is when you are going down hill, pull out a deku stick and get close to a wall. Hold Z so you side-step and then press a so you jump to the side. Then press the deku stick button while you are in the air and the deku stick will strike the wall. You should end up holding a broken-in-half deku stick. The deku stick is more powerful than the kokiri sword, but, it has drawbacks. Whenever you make a deku club, you must have at least 2 deku sticks. When it gets broken in half, it counts it as destroying the deku stick, and you lose one. So if you have only one deku stick when you make a deku club, then it will say you have no deku sticks left and you wont be able to strike with it. Also, you cannot use your shield when you have a deku club. So basically its the same as adult link’s biggoron’s sword but with less range.
Water Temple Treasure
In the Water Temple, there is a room with atreasure chest protected by a water spout. To stopthe water spout, you can hit the switch in theroom, but, a glitchy way of getting the treasureis to keep running into the front of the treasurechest when the water spout is on and keep pressingA. You should be able to open the chest withoutneeding to hit the switch.
Torch Money
As young link go to the castle. Get past all the guards except for the two guarding the gate. Take out the slingshot and shoot the torches above the drawbridge to get a red ruby (note that this will not open the drawbridge).
Fire Arrow
When you beat WATER temple go to the platform by the tree. Aim your bow at the sun and shoot. Then go get the fire arrow.
Free Goron Tunic
After you have grown-up inside the Goron’s cave there will be a little goron rolling in place of the bigger one. The only thing is that if you get close to him he will turn around. what you have to do is make sure he is in the small cavern near the north wall. Then pull out a bomb then thow it behind him so that when he turns around he will get hit by the explosion and stop. Talk to him about the dragon then the gorons. After you finish talking he will give you the Tunic and the shop will open.
Free Milk
After you learn Epona’s song go to a cow and play the song. The cow will tell you she can produce lots of milk and give you free milk instead of paying for it from Talon.
Get Super Cocos Easy
At Lon-Lon Ranch as a kid, go to the room were Talon is sleeping. Before you talk to him, pick up all the chickens and throw them into the corner near the stairs where they cant get out. Once the room is clear of all the chickens, wake up Talon and play the game. Now the only chickens in the big area of the room are the super cocos.
Hide And Seek
To find the Chickens the girl asks for look here: Next to the pen, Bash the crate in the corner, By the guard on the mountain, by the entrance, beside the ‘spiders’ house. To get the last ones, grab a chicken and go to the ledge near the windmill. Jump off and Glide to the gate. It may take a few tries but it works. Throw the chickens over the fence and climb the ladder to the top. Grab the chicken and glide down into the pen. Don’t forget to get the chickens you threw over! Get all the chickens in the pen and the girl will give you a bottle. Do it over and over again to get a purple rupee: which is 50 rupees. Good Luck!
R2D2 Apperance
In the bombbucha bowling alley, look up using c,up youll see R2D2 has found an interesting job.
Quick Rupees
When you are saving the carpenters from the gerudos you might have notice that in one of the rooms there is a boiling pot of red liquid. If you jump into the middle of it you’ll get 20 rupees easily. But dont stay in too long or the liquid will start to hurt you. The only way to get out of the pot is to either hook shot or back flip.
Embarrissing Gerudo Fact
When your a kid get the mask of truth and got to the temple of time. When you first get to the first screen before the screen where u can enter the temple, there are 4 gossip stones. Put the mask of truth on and talk to the gossip stone all the way to the right to learn a funny but embarrissing fact about gerudos.
Kill Enemies In The Sacred Forest Meadow
The best way to kill the enemies in the Sacred Forest Meadow is to shot it with the hookshot. They will die and then you can get past them. If they see you though, they will charge at you and knock you over so be careful.
The Kokiri Sword
If you are starting the game you need a sword and a shield to get past Mido. To get the sword you need to leave your house, talk to the girl, then walk up the ramp. Turn toward your house the with Z targeting look to the right of your house. There you will see something that looks like a fence. Find a way up to the fence. Then go all the way back to the wall. There you will see a tunnel. Walk up to it. Look at your direction icon. If it says enter then press the A button. But if it doesn’t then walk a bit closer to the tunnel until it does. Then crawl through the tunnel. You will reach a turn-off. you can go 4 ways. You want to go out into the middle and watch the path to your left. Wait until a boulder goes by then follow it. The first corner you turn into will be filled with tall grass. When you get to the end of that runway then I would turn to the right and wait for another boulder to go by. Then follow it. You will come to another turn-off. This time turn to the right. Then use Z targeting to straighten out your view. You will see a big chest. Walk up to it and look at your direction icon on the top of the screen. if it says open then press the A button and open it. But if it doesn’t then walk closer to the chest. Keep walking closer until the direction icon says open. Inside of the chest you will find the Kokiri Sword. To equip it press the START button and go to the equiptment screen and move the cursor to the picture of the Kokiri Sword. Then press the A button. After you have done that you will be able to use the sword by pressing the B button.
Secret Heart Piece
To get a heart piece go to the wall that leads to the fishing hut, play the song of storms over by the tree ans then around the wall you willneed to set a bomb. A hole will appear and then go in it to find a heart piece
Secret Room In Fire Temple
After you get the longshot go back to the fire temple. In the maze with the rolling boulders a place will have a block you cannot climb. Play the scarecrow’s song and Pi’erre will sprout up. Hook onto him and you will be at the secret room!
Get The Biggest Bomb Bag!
Go to goron city as a child. On one of the floors there will be a giant rolling Goron. When you bomb him he says “Why did you stop my roll? No one can! Now watch me roll!” and than keeps rolling. But if you bomb him 10 times without leaving the platform to get more bombs or something the goron will say something like “Aaaa MAN!!! I FEEL SO GOOD! YOU CAN HAVE THIS, I DONT NEED IT!” and he will give you the biggest bomb bag.
Cookin Up A Storm
To get the song of storms become adult link. Go to where the organ-man (Guy running the windmill) lives. He will say something like “Grrr. seven years ago a troublesome kid played a song and screwed up this whole windmill!” Take out your ocarina and he will teach you the song of storms!!! If you use this song, sometimes the ground will open up a secret grotto!
Use A Sheild Without Really Using It
To do this you need the Deku Shield and a Hylian Sheild.
1.Get your Deku Sheild out and hold R.2.Pause the game while holding on R and select the Hylian Sheild and unpause the game while holding on R.
Then Link will pretend to use a sheild and the Hylian Sheild will be on his back!
Get Bombchus In Haunted Wasteland
When you enter the Haunted Wastelands, cross the sand pit and follow the first few flags. Soon enough you will show up to a sign that says all who wander the desert, see me. Equip your Hover Boots and go to the bridge where the sign points to. Float across the bridge onto the magic carpet with some guy. Speak to him and he will offer you something dangerous for 200 rupees. When you buy the item, its a bombchu.
Turn Any Item Into A Bottle
Find a place were there are bugs and take out one of your bottles. Go to catch it and when he is halfway through the swipe hit start. Pute anotheritem that you don’t won’t to the c button were the bottle is. Hit start again. He will catch the bugs and the c were the other item is will turn into a bottle. The only downfall is you cant get the item back!!!
Swimming Chickens
To make chickens swim you must go to Zora’s river while your a kid then there will be a chicken near the entrance. Hit the chicken until it gets mad and makes other chickens go after you, jump in the river and swim against it(not with itand keep on pressing B while doing it to stay in place)keep on swimming and pretty soon the chickens will start swimmingNote:Try not to get hit from the chickens
Forward Backflip
To do a forward backflip you must have the hover boots.
1. Put on your hover boots or if you don't have them get them at the shadow temple.2. While running quickly hold Z, press back on the joystick, and press the A button.
To make it more fancy you try and take out your sword while doing the forward backflip. It may not help you beat the game but it looks cool.
Beat Morpha In Under A Minute
First, go into the inner platforms to set her off. then, immediately go into a corner and longshot her. IMMEDIATELY go around behind her and keep slashing. That way, Morpha can’t escape, and you can beat her in about 30 seconds. This may take a few tries.
Get Stone Of Agony
This hint is very and easy. The Stone of Agony is an object that-when you use your rumble pack-shakes, near secrets. To get the Stone of Agony, kill exactly 20 or 21 gold skutullas, warp to Death Mountain Crater by playing the Bolero of Fire, run down to Kakariko Village and enter the house of skutullas, and talk to the next cured person. He will thank you and give you the Stone of Agony.
Extra Deku Sticks
When you get the skull mask, go to the lost woods. Then go to the Forest Stage. Put on your mask and walk to the center of the room. Deku Shrubs will pop out and surround you. Walk to the right. Eventually, a big pne will wake up and offer you more sticks.
Find Hidden Treasure Chest!
As child Link, go to Zora’s Domain. Go to where the King Zora is and light a Duke Stick. Run down the steps and light the torch at the end of the steps. Now, after you have done that light up another duke stick and run down by the shop and light that torch. The with the duke stick still lit run throught the water (don’t get in the deep water) and light the two torches then hurry behind the waterfall and light those two torches. If you have done this correctly and fast enough you will find a hidden treasure chest with a heart piece in it.
Secret Hole
Go to Links forest villige and go up to the entrance to the lost woods. Go to the gossip stone near the entrance. Play the song of storms and a hole should appear.
How To Catch A Huge Lunker
This Hint work’s better if it has the sinking lure. To get the biggest fish there is in the pond cast the lure by the 3 stick’s or the log. If you angle this fish it will take maybe more than 5 minutes. Once you get it up it looks small but when it show’s a close up picture it’s the size of the whole SCREEN. And when you weigh your fish don’t expect to be in a bigger tank or fit it in there. This is true.
Make The Gossip Stone In To A Tornado
This is a pretty cool trick, if you have Dim’s Fire go by a Gossip Stone and use Dim’s Fire next to it. It will spin, Flat down, then spin HIGH in the air. NOTE: I think you need to slash it first.
More Red Rupees
Go to Hyrule castle town, and before you go in walk up the chain, and play the sun song. When the gate goes up, walk acroos the vertical gate and recieve 3 or 4 red rupees!
Breaking A Roof
First you must have bombs and the song of storms to do this. Go in a hole where it has a one eyed rock. Then put a bomb near a one-eyed rock then wait until it turns red and then let it crash into the roof.
Stealing The Fishing Guys Hat
Go to the fishing pond in lake Hylia(You must be an adult to do this). When he askes you if you want to go fishing say yes. Take your rod an cast it at him. This may take a couple of tries. You should be in the middle of the desk and the wall when you cast. If you do this right then will hook his hat on your line and uncover his bald head. He will start yelling at you. Cast your line out into the water and reel it in. The hat will fall off and he will be bald for the rest of the game. Will this help you on your quest? No, but it is so much fun to do.
Secret Money
Go to Kakoriko Village and then go to the tree at the entrance. Take 10 steps away from the tree going east. Now after that place a bomb on the ground where you stopped and a hole will appear with a chest that has 200 ruppees.
Easy Fairies
Play Zelda’s lullaby in front of a gossip stone and a fairy will come out.
Free Money
Go to Zelda’s court and look to the right. There should be a window with the Mario characters in it. If you shoot it you will get a free 20 rupees.
How To Get To Dodongo In Dodongo’s Caverns.

Golden Scale
To get the golden scale, become an adult and then go fishing. Catch a fish that is at least 15 pounds. Keep it then talk to the guy at the counter ask him to weigh your fish then he will give it to you.
Defeating Ganondorf And Ganon
Before you go face Ganondorf, make sure you have everything, all weapons (especially the Light Arrow, which you can get at the Temple of Time when you save all the Sages), all 100 Gold Skulltulas, all Gold Skulltula gifts, all Heart Pieces, and all the Great Fariy gifts. REALLY make sure you have the Great Fariy gift of double defense (which is near Ganon’s Castle). With your for bottles, make sure you have two fariys and two bottles of blue potion. When you have destroyed the sage barriers protecting Ganondorf’s Tower, go in, dodge the flaming Keese, and go to the first door, and defeat the two Lizofoes. Go through the door after defeating them, up the stairs and through the next door. You’ll see a chest with the Boss Key in it, and to get it, you’ll need to defeat the two Stalfoes. Go through the next door, up the stairs, and through another door with two Iron Knuckles. If you want to hurt them real quick, use a Bombchu. When they’re defeated, just go through a few more doors and use the Boss Key. When you reach the last door, a cartoon will show Ganondorf playing the organ with Princess Zelda as his prisoner, and Triforce symbols coming on Zelda’s and Link’s hands, and Ganondorf taking Zelda’s Triforce of Wisdom, adding it to his Triforce of Power. Before Ganondorf starts talking, Link’s Triforce of Courage will refill his health and magic. When the game introduces Ganondorf, immeditly run to the outside, because Ganondorf will hit the floor and the blocks will fall and he’ll create a pillar for himself. You won’t be able to use Navi’s Z-Targeting for a while. When he starts to use an energy ball, draw your sword and repel it to send it back to him. After a few games of tennis (as I like to call it), the ball will hit Ganondorf, and he’ll be stinned for a few seconds. Quickly draw out your bow and transform your arrows into Light Arrows, and fire one at Ganondorf. When he is hit, Navi can use Z-targeting again and you can use your Longshot on Ganondorf to pull yourself to him, or use your Hover Boots (I’d recomend the Longshot), and attack Ganondorf with your sword. When Ganondorf is about to get up (you’ll know when you see the Light Arrow’s dust goes away), use your Longshot on the stain-glass window to get away from him. If you don’t get away, he’ll hit the pillar and some of the blocks will fall away. If Ganondorf’s about to make a portal where he’ll use a few energy balls, just use a Light Arrow since it takes him a while to use it. Do all that I’ve told you how to get at Ganondorf a few times and you’ll soon win. If you run out of life or magic, drop down the pillar, and break the jars for them. When you beat Ganondorf, all your health and magic will be filled up again, and Princess Zelda will be free. But, with his last breath, Ganondorf tries to bring down the tower. You and Zelda have three (3) minutes to get out. Zelda will unlock doors and you’ll fight monsters. After about two or three doors, Zelda will be trapped in a ring of fire, and to extinguish it, you’ll have to defeat two Stalfoes. DON’T USE YOUR MAGIC! SAVE IT! When they’re defeated, Zelda will give you hearts if you lost any, or if you didn’t, she’ll give you rupees. After a while, you’ll go over the bridge that led you to the beginning of the tower, and you’ll see a ReDead. Dodge it, and Zelda will open the last door. After the tower falls, you and Zelda hear a loud BOOM. Go over to the pile of stones, and a ring of fire will separate you from Zelda, creating an arena. Ganondorf will come out of the pile, and the Triforce of Power will change him into a monster, and he will now be Ganon. Ganon has two big swords, and when Link raises the Master Sword to block one, the Master Sword will fly out of his grasp, next to Zelda. This time Navi will be able to help you. To start the battle, cast Nayru’s Love to form a protective shield. Roll under Ganon’s legs. His tail is his weak point, so slash at it with the Biggoron Sword. If you don’t have the sword, use the Megaton Hammer. Keep doing this a few times. After a while, Ganon will fall, and the fire will go away. By then, Nayru’s Love will end. Run to Zelda and get the Master Sword. Make sure the Master Sword is your sword to use. When the Master Sword is ready, run back to Ganon. The ring of fire will come back, and you have time to slash at Ganon’s tail. Ganon will be much faster, so to get to his tail, fire Light Arrows at his face. He’ll be blind for a while, and you can then use the Master Sword on his tail. If you run out of magic, use a blue potion, or have Ganon slash a t a pillar to get faries or magic jars. Keep fighting Ganon and soon he’ll will fall. Zelda will use her magic to hold Ganon down and tell you to use your sword. The Master Sword will glow with the power to bring Ganon down, and all you have to do is use the sword on his face. Ganon will act wild and Zelda will call to the six Sages, and they’ll suck Ganon into the Evil Realm. A cartoon will show Link and Zelda in the clouds, and Zelda will tell Link to put the Master Sword back at the Temple of Time and close the Door of Time. Link will give the Ocarina to Zelda, and after he is taken away, you’ll see a cartoon of everyone celebrating at the Lon Lon Ranch, and see the five Sages you rescued. And finally, it’ll show Link as a boy again, Navi parting with him, and Link going to the castle to see the young Princess Zelda looking for Ganondorf, and thankfull Link is alive. Congratulations! You beat the game!
Easy Way To Beat Ganon
To beat Ganon without using any Light Arrows, just lock onto him with Z and then back under his legs and use the Megaton Hammer, Biggorons Sword (best one), or Master Sword and jump attack his tail. You can only defeat Ganon after you get the Master Sword back and use the method above to take care of him once and for all.
Get All The Money You Can Hold
If you’re short on money, but have all 100 Gold Skulltulas, go to Kakariko Village and go to the House of Skulltula. Talk to the father, and he’ll give you a Huge Rupee (worth 200 Rupees). Leave and go back in the house. Talk to the father, and he’ll give you another one. You can do this as many times as you want, he’ll never run out of Huge Rupees!
Drawbridge Money
During the day, in Hyrule field, walk up to the drawbridge to the castle village and walk up the chain. Wait until night and there will be red rupees, and you can even enter the village at night this way.

An easy way to beat Mirror Link is just to use your Megnaton Hammer. It will great damage to Mirror Link and he won’t able to mimic your attack.
Beat Barinade More Easily
First, stun Barinade with your boomerang. destroy all of his jellyfish except one, because if you destroy all of them, he will cultivate more and become faster. stun him again and go to his center and keep slashing, while using the boomerang on him about every 3-5 seconds, so he doesn’t become unstunned and if worked right, he makes a good way for link to get some exercise with no worries.
Deku Club
To get the Deku Club go to Koriki forest and then go to the Gossip Stone near the entrance to the Lost woods. Go to the ledge near the Gossip Stone and then turn around facing the stone. Take out a Deku Stick and hit against the stone and you will bounce back. If you did this right you will grab on to the ledge. Climb back up and you will be holding half of a Deku Stick. It is more powerfull then your sword and it will never break if you hit it on something. NOTE: If you change items and take out a Deku Stick again, you have to do this process again from the start.
Get Fourth Bottle
Kill 10 big poe’s and sell them to the guy at the market. (This only works as an adult)

Wooden Club
Buy a deku stick. (if you already have one thats fine.) Pull it out and jump off any cliff and break the the deku stick on the down. You should now have a stick that is even more powerful than the kokiri sword.
Items On Epona
Do the swordless link code. After that, when you have no sword, get on epona and you can use most of your items! Press the ocarina button to get off. NOTE: This does not work on the cart with the award winner thing on it.

Sinking Lure
First you must go to Lake Hylia and go to the fishing pond. Go fishing for twenty rupees and walk on the log sticking out of the water. The sinking lure should be on there but you can’t see it. If you’ve done this once the location of it will change. If it did the search the grass in the pond or by the crack in the wall. Note: this might only work with adult Link.
Swordless Link
You must have beaten the game at least once. After you gave beat it at least once go back and fight gannondorf and beat him. After you are done doing the running you must fight ganon. Right after he knocks the sword out of your hand save the game and reset it. Go back to your file that you were on and Link should be in Ganon’s castle and he will be swordless!!! Note: I think it takes the gold cartrigde but I haven’t tried it without it.
Extra Rupees
In Koriki Forest, the starting town, go by the shop and jump on the blocks that lead to it to get 5 rupees. Enter in the shop, come back out, and jump on the blocks again to collect more money. There is a door to the right before entering the market. Enter to find some vases and boxes that contain rupees. After collecting the money, exit, then re-enter the room. Search the vases and boxes again to collect the rupees again. When first entering Hyrule Castle, there is a door that resembles the background. Enter and smash all the pots to collect about fifty rupees. Leave the room and return to collect all the rupees again. After collecting all the chickens in Kakariko village for the first time, keep repeating that process to collect 50 rubies each time. Shoot the signs in Gerudo Fortress with a little moon on them with your hookshot for 20 rupees. Go to the front of the marketplace during the day. Walk up to the chains holding the drawbridge all the way to the top. Then, turn and jump off. As Link falls, 20 rupees may be collected. Walk over the other side and repeat for even more rupees.
Bombs Away
When your young Link go to zedla’s courtyard. When you walk in there are 2 windows. One on your left and the other on the right. In one it has pictures of Mario characters, the doesn’t. The dosen’t have the pictures, take your sling-shot and shot into it. If you did it right should appear says something and throws a bomb at you. This doesn’t doing anything to help you, but it’s pretty funny.
Extra Bottles!
As child Link, go to a puddle in a hole or a pool containing a fish, make sure you have at least one bottle. Get to where you are close to the fish and use your bottle to catch the fish. Quickly, pause it and switch the bottle out with something else near useless, a.k.a, deku nuts and farhores wind, ect.when you come out of it, you should have a new bottle with a fish in it!NOTE: You can’t get the object you replace the bottle with back and don’t use things adult Link can’t use!
Rocket Power!
This is nothing big, but it’s fun to do. First you go and find one of those stones with a picture of an eye that tell you the time if you hit it. Once you do that place a bomb next to them and wait a while after the bomb explodes, then the stone should blast into the air and blow up.
Hints, Tips, And Tricks
Finding SariaTo find Saria, go to the Lost Woods and move in the following directions: Right, Left, Right, Left, Center, Left, Right.Finding the Giant's KnifeGo to Goron City as young Link. On one of the floors is a wall that appears questionable. Blow it up, then keep destroying the other walls behind it. Talk to the big may to learn that he is working on a weapon. Return as older Link to receive the Giant's Knife.Finding Nayru's LoveNayru's Love is a protective barrier that helps Link withstand damage. It can be found by blowing up the crack between the two palm trees in Desert Colossus.Finding a bag that holds 40 seedsGo to the Lost Woods. After entering, turn right and continue forward to a ledge with a fence and ladder to the left. A metal circular object will be suspended from a tree at this location. Shoot it three times exactly in the center with the slingshot and to receive the bag. A "100" will flash when your shot hits the center. You must score "100" three times in a row.Finding Gold SkulltulasHunt only at night because that is the time that the Gold Skulltulas appear. Some appear while Link is a child and some appear while he is an adult. A few appear during both these times. The Skulltulas like dirt patches, where the magic beans may be planted. Use a bottle of bugs to surface the spiders. Nine of the ten spots contain a Skulltula. Some like to hide in trees, so check them with a roll attack. It is wise to check most trees because most all of them have a good prize such as bombs or rupees if not a gold Skulltula. The Skulltulas can be in slingshot range many times, but require a boomerang to retrieve the token. They also love to hide in crates, so use the roll attack to break them.Getting Gold SkulltulasCapture a bug in a bottle and drop them on some soft soil, where Link would put some Magic Beans. Then, a Gold Skulltula will appear. Kill it and get your new found token. This works on all of them except the soft soil spot right next to the man that sells the Magic Beans.Getting the Biggest QuiverEnter the archery game as an adult after getting the Gerudo Membership Card. It costs 20 rupees to play, but is worth it. Play the first time and get 1,000 points and to receive a Heart Container. Play the game a second time and get 1,500 points and to receive the Biggest Quiver, which holds up to fifty arrows. When starting the archery game, aim for the bullseye and fire to get 100 points each time. Also shoot at the target at the end. When you come around the end target, aim for the clay jars. Shoot them to collect 100 points per jar. Keep getting 100's on the targets and successfully shoot all the clay jars to get the required 1,500 points for the Biggest Quiver.Unlimited moneyGo to the Lost Woods and find the Skull Kid who is alone as adult Link. Then, lock onto and kill him, and he will give you 200 rupees. Then, a skulltula or some rupees will usually fall out.Breaking open boxesTo break open a regular brown wooden box, just run at it and press A. Link will roll and smash open the box. This is useful when finding all the chickens and to get a Skulltula in the Marketplace room with the pots.Easiest and ultimate ruby collectionGo to the drawbridge in front of the marketplace during the day and run up to the top of one of the chains. Wait for night to arrive (or play the Sun's Song). Carefully run across the bridge to collect three red rubies worth an easy 60 rupees. Play the Sun's Song again to lower the drawbridge. Go into the market and come back out again to repeat the trick.Rupees with Bunny MaskAfter completing the Forest Temple, return to the Temple of Time. Drop the Master Sword back into the stone to change back to Young Link. Go to the mask shop and make sure Link can borrow the Bunny Mask. Link should also have the Giant's Wallet (that holds 500 rupees) for this trick to be most effective. Thirty Gold Skulltulas should also have been collected, and Link should have talked to one of the kids in the house in Kakariko Village that has the curse on them to get the wallet. Buy as much as possible with the current amount of rupees. Go to Hyrule Field and run to the right, towards Lon Lon Ranch. Run until a man running around like an idiot comes into view. Follow him until he sits down and gets tired. Wear on the Bunny Mask and talk to him. He will ask for the mask and fill Link's wallet with rupees.Purple rupeesKill any enemy with the light arrows to receive a purple rupee.Illegal Fishing Lure (Sinking Lure)Use the following steps to get a better fishing lure that can catch more fish. As an adult, walk to the log that is sticking out in the pond. Walk around on it awhile to find a sinking lure, that can catch fish almost every time. Note: The lure may only be used once, and if used to catch a record weight fish, the counterman will not give Link a prize. The sign on the tank will also be marked with "With illegal fishing lure." Get Fire and Ice arrowsAfter completing the water temple, go to Lake Hylia. Play the Sun Song at plaque near the warp point (serenade of water) to make the sun rise. As soon as this happens, shoot the sun with an arrow and fire arrows will appear. Play the Song of Storms in front of a Gossip Stone and it will give you a Big Fairy. Get a butterfly to land on a Deku stick and it will turn into a Fairy. Slowly walk towards the butterfly with a Deku Stick out; this requires patience. Play the Song of Storms near a soft patch of soil with a Magic Bean planted. It will grow and produce three regular Fairies.Malon's obstacle courseReturn to Lon Lon Ranch after getting Talon to go back home (by waking him up with the Cucco the girl in Kakariko Village gives Link). Complete Malon's obstacle course as an adult (talk to her while on Epona) in under fifty seconds. If successful, she'll give Link a cow. It will be at his house in Kokiri Forest. Use it to get Lon Lon Milk by playing Epona's Song in front of the cow.Easy way past the GeurdoTo knock out a Geurdo thief, simply shoot her with an arrow. To freeze her, use the hookshot or longshot.Ending bonusSuccessfully complete the game and wait at the "The End" screen. Eventually, the Scarecrow's Song will begin playing with different instruments.Frozen Zora's DomainZora's Domain will be frozen when playing as an adult. There is no way to thaw it.Getting Biggoron's SwordUse the following long trading sequence as an adult to get Biggoron's Sword. Bring the Cucco back to the lady, to receive Cojiro, the Blue Cucco. Go to the Lost Woods, then turn right at the entrance. Give Cojiro to the man to receive an Odd Mushroom, which will spoil if too much time is wasted. Rush to the Potion shop in Kakariko Village, then go left into the room. Run into the shop to the right, then give the Mushroom to the lady at that location. She will give Link an Odd Potion. Hurry back to the Lost Woods. The man will be gone, but a Kokiri will be here. Give the saw to the carpenter that is outside to receive Biggoron's Broken Sword. Go to the top of Death Mountain, then walk to the right. Biggoron will appear, rubbing his eyes. He has an eye infection and will give link a Prescription. Bring the Prescription to King Zora after he has been unfrozen to receive the Eyeball frog, an ingredient for the Eyedrops. Hurry to the Lakeside Laboratory at Lake Hylia and give the Eyeball Frog to the Old Man. He will give Link the Eyedrops. Hurry back up to the Death Mountain Summit and ive the Eyedrops to Biggoron. After using them, he will give Link a Claim Check. Wait three days (play the Sun's Song six times to quickly pass the time), give him back the Claim Check to receive Biggoron's Sword. This weapon is twice as powerful as the Master Sword, and will not break like the Giant's Knife. Note: If Link is late during any of the time-sensitive parts of the trade, the game will restart back at the person you need to give the item to, and will cost you ten rupees, but will allow another try. Ocarina songs may not be used to teleport to a location during the trade.
