Chapter 11: “The one where her brain is swirling like jam”

The best part of Lia’s day was breakfast. She is a breakfast person. She loves breakfast. She goes to bed with breakfast in her mind. If you ask her what makes her look forward to the next morning, she’ll say… guess what… you got it, breakfast.

Lucky for Lia, the café served some of the best breakfasts in town, which meant she spent her weekends hanging out at the place. As if it wasn’t enough to jam there on Friday nights and to swing by on her way home everyday after work.

Talking about jam. They had a brilliant assortment of jams and jellies and marmalades.

To Lia, there are two types of people. Those who put just one type of boring jam on their toast, and those who don’t. Those who mix it up and go all the way out with their toast.

Those who go beyond the good ol’ strawberry jam (nothing against strawberries, though) to the unconventional flavors. Passionfruit. Pomegranate. Uchuva. Mango. Goyave. And so on.

Those who take a spoonful of one crazy jelly and a spoonful of another crazy jam and daub them generously on a slice of crazy bread. And not any plain and simple bread, okay? The crazy breads with multifarious seeds and peculiar flours.

She really liked her toast, okay? Life is too short to settle for anything less.

Anyways, the café offered everything that she would ever want in her toast, starting with a spectacular range of jams, and she always went for the two most delectable flavors of the day. She would lather, not spread, said jams on the bread until it looked like Starry Night on toast.

And that was precisely what she was doing when she got the text one fateful January morning at the café after she was back in Korea.

The text?

The DM.

A DM from user “thv”.

She’d be an idiot not to recognize who that was.

Who are we kidding? She followed them. Who didn’t? Who who has Jihyo, self-proclaimed army mom, as a friend, did not follow their social media?

She opened the notification and her heart skipped a beat.

Or many.

Shit.

She blinked.

She clicked on the account.

It had the little blue check and everything.

Her stomach started swirling like the colors of the jams she had chosen for the day.

Shit.

She went back to the chat.

A typing message appeared at the top of the page.

Shit.

Did he really just—Shit.

A purple balloon appeared below the first.

how have you been?

How has she been? Fine. Fine, you know. Absolutely fine.

Splendid. Superior. Splendiferous.

Another purple balloon appeared below the first.

I was hoping to speak to you after the Christmas show

SHIT.

That was her cue to put her untouched toast back on the plate and lean back on the chair.

No way.

The butterflies in her stomach became a swarm.

Are you—No way.

The snort that she couldn’t hold back made the girls on the next table turn to look at her weird.

She was pretty sure she now had the smile of a dumbass. And the cheeks redder than the pomegranate jam on her toast.

Is your heart supposed to beat that fast on your head because of two purple balloons on an app? Lia could not say. As her kiddos said, her windows crashed. Was a winter morning supposed to feel that hot or was it just Lia? Phew.

Okay, okay, Calm down.

She texted Jihyo.

Seconds—no, milliseconds—later, she replied.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

Lia was about to text that she was doing fine, but was cut off by the call. More like a raucous string of words from Jihyo.

“Hello, how are you, Lia, I’m good, and you? I’m—”

“Oh, c’mon, did you reply all ready?”

“I don’t know what to say.”

“Okay, what about ‘Hello’?”

Lia rolled her eyes.

“Of course, I’ll say ‘Hello’ first, but what do I say next?”

“Yes, I’ll marry you.”

“Beeee seeeerious, I’m panicking here.”

“Okay, okay. Just go with it. I’ve been good. And you? Always formal, as he was.”

“Okay. And then?”

“Wait for him to continue.”

“But—But he said explicitly, ‘I was hoping to speak to you after the Christmas show’. Do I just ignore that? Like?”

“Shit, you’re right. Okay, say… that you had to go. That wasn’t a lie. Okay, put in a ‘really?’ there.”

“Mhmm.”

“Thank him for coming.”

“Yeah.”

“Okay, go. I have to go. Tell me everythiiiing.”

“Okay, okay. Thank you.”

Jihyo hung up.

She was now alone again with ten jittery fingers, four impending texts, three unreplied DM’s, two unfinished toasts, and one giant panic.

Breathe in, breathe out.

She looked around the café. Like, yes, people in cafés are usually just minding their own business and nobody’s trying to spy on others’ screens. Nevertheless, she felt the need to check that nobody was looking.

Coast is clear.

She opened the chat again, and typed “hello”. Fast, before she chickened out.

Sent.

No going back now.

Shit.

He texted back quickly.

hello :)

What do you mean hello again? Hello? She did not even get to send the other texts.

Shit.

Hello?

She hurried to type.

I have been good. How have you been?

Really? I had to fly home!

Thank you for coming to the show. It means a lot

Yeah, you see. You see the chaos ensuing in one Lia’s stomach because of you or what?

Whoops, she didn’t realize she had just wheezed out loud. Guess that’s what happens when you’re absolutely dying on the inside because of some damned texts but what would you know, sir, please continue with your breakfast while this lady right here continues to panic in silence, thank you very mu—Okay. Stop.

She exhaled and typed her response. Should she just say she’d love to? Is it not too much? Or like, too eager? No, it’s the polite thing. That’s just what you say. Right?

“Okay, don’t overthink it,” she muttered to herself.

Lia gazed down at her uneaten toast, a current of bubbles, of bees, of butterflies, roaming around in her belly. Her brain felt like a swirl. Like jam. Her brain turned into jam, indeed.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CANNABIS SEEDS

If you are investing in feminized options, it means that you might germinate more plants in the same site and space as there won’t be any male plants taking an unnecessary room as male plants do not produce buds and are typically burnt or destroyed to make way for more female plants.

If you have limited space and simply do not want to waste time with all the growing male buds, this cannabis is a good choice as the results are rewarding. They also grow faster and produce buds with higher levels of active cannabinoids.

3. Auto-flowering cannabis seeds:

The crossbreeding gives you Auto-flowering cannabis seeds. When Indica and Sativa are crossed with the ruderalis plant, auto-flowering seeds are found. The cannabis plant can be found in the place where the summers are short. This is the reason that ruderalis plants bloom automatically in a short period of time. Normally it takes around 2 to 3 weeks to bloom. The ruderalis cannabis plant is found mainly in Northern Europe, Russia and neighboring countries like China and Mongolia. The plant is known to contain less THV than Indica and Sativa, and thus it is the main reason it crossed. The result of crossing the ruderalis plant with Indica and Sativa plant is a fast-blooming variant with higher THC value in it.

4. Medicinal cannabis seeds:

Medical Cannabis, are the feminized plant that is specially cultivated for the medicinal cannabis user. It is also a fact that all cannabis types are appropriate for medicinal use; however, some of the types are more appropriate because they produce much more active substances. Usually, medicinal cannabis is used to cure pain, muscle tensions, bad blood circulation, nausea, spasms, chemotherapy, stress, difficulty in sleeping, loss of appetite, sexual complaints and hormonal complaints.

With the US Government working on the bills to legalize Marijuana in the country, is regarded as the best time to drop in the sales and production of marijuana.
