Perc’ahlia Week Countdown - Day Three

If you can’t count on me to catch up like I keep promising, then you can at least count on me to be consistent <3

Day Three — Mask / Trinket

(yes the prompts are in a diff order on the collage but i wanted the heart to be visible)

And as usual, some brainstorming!!

Mask

Percy’s mask, “Darling, take the mask off” (c1 e33 / tlovm s1 e12)

Masquerade balls, disguises

Modern AU spa day/facial masks, modern AU Halloween, COVID AU if you really want

Vex’s false confidence/bravado masks, Percy’s mask of nobility, masking for neurodivergent/queer headcanons

Trinket

Trinket, obviously - his relationship with Percy (they were buddies as early as the home campaign!), Percy spoiling him

Trinket and the de Rolo babies, and also Charlie!!

Percy making things for Vex, Vex perhaps making things for Percy, Percy making little trinkets and toys for the kids

Seeing trinkets that remind them of each other, collecting things, shopping for things together, fidget trinkets

um. okay predictions for what the hell is getting announced tmrw. exandria unlimited? but usually thats so much more chill than whatever this is?? even exu calamity didnt get teased before the announcement. the countdown... travis saying keep an eye out... ooh. something. >_>; is it lovm related? is it something to do with tm9? bc of essek's recent copywriting? animated tm9?? but that feels so soon after tlovm. is it some big crossover event with another ttrpg show? maybe this is similiar to the announce of exu prime??? like introduction of a new format for the show? im scared, excited, and i have no idea whats happening

Hi! Not hoping to start drama or anything but I just wanted to say I totally get the fear of tlovm. I'm more scared of hyping it up than of it disappointing me which makes no sense at all but thats where I'm at.

Im so excited for it and also I wish we would stay in the countdown with only the trailer forever. I want every single scene animated and also a whole new story so the animation of my fave scenes can't fail to meet expectations.

I join you in Fear is what I'm trying to say.

(different ask, same vibes) i am in the same headspace as you about tlovm. i have a lot of faith in cr in terms of adapting their own story but retcons are not new to them (just... slowly and surely erasing tiber*us out of canon) and for the first time i think i realized they could change things i am actually very fond of and made the story special to me.

i understand those fears, though for myself i'm specifically worried about the couple of characters i mentioned

as an overall, to bring you some positivity back, i'm fairly optimistic about this adaption. given how much say the cast had, i have a good amount of faith in their ability to bring their own stories to life, specifically and especially in terms of plot. are scanbo and The Cows ever going to be as good as the original? probably not, but they can still be great.

i also think you have to be open to the medium of animation and the kind of storytelling that involves. i'm personally a huge animation fan and am perfectly fine with changes (especially plotwise, less so concerning relationships and dynamics), and considering the format, i'd advise any fan to go in with that mentality. the meatiness of D&D is just TOO much for animated show, but i think we're going to get the essence of vox machina and for the most part, i think they can pull that off.

everything from the clips released, i've enjoyed so far. i think the designs of the characters are spectacular, the animation is good for the budget they had, and i feel like certain clips were great for the character's energy (especially grog's moments!).

i will say that i'm with you with not wanting much retconning. that's a personal preference of mine as well.

lastly, be prepared that they might erase scenes that were important to you. there were so many important scenes, they couldn't possibly fit them all in. plus they have to make room for new content that will not have been in the original material. you might miss those scenes, but they'll still exist in the original, and the original VM can still be that special to you, TLOVM is an adaptation. similar to novel to movie adaptations, things will fall to the wayside, but they can still be good if the creators really understand the source material (and i'd say there's a good chance with how much creative say CR cast had, they do.)

but also being in a fearful headspace rather than a hyped one is often a defense response (that i pull a lot myself) because if you don’t have expectations you’ll be less disappointed

Perc’ahlia Week Countdown - Day 6 !!

I FINALLY POSTED TWICE IN ONE DAY !! I also learned there's a surprising amount of suggestive aesthetic posts on Pinterest.

Day Six — Yours / Later

There's not as much brainstorming this time, given how vague and expansive these prompts can be, but the @percahliaweek mods have a couple ideas just as examples!:

Yours

"It's yours" c1 e69, of course, and related tie-ins (c1 e63/TLoVM e8, Dalen's Closet, etc.)

"I'm yours and you're mine" sentiments, giving gifts, babies/pregnancy reveals, wearing each other's clothes

Finding childhood objects and things, thief/crime/villain AUs ("Oh, was this money yours?" kind of deal)

Later

"We'll talk later" (c1 e72), the resulting Later Talk (c1 e78)

Post-campaign shenanigans, talking about their futures, c1 e95 "One Year Later...", Perc'ahlia in their older years

"We'll talk later" as a code word for "I'm going to jump your bones later", same thing with "courage" ;)

Day 6 of Perc'ahlia Week will be Friday, September 29th!! I'm running out of things to say for these posts, but know that I'm still bouncing with excitement !!

Perc’ahlia Week Countdown - Day Five (ish) !!!

Hello lovely people!! Yes I am once again late, I’m so sorry - I’m doing my best to get caught up!!

Day Five — Fairytale / Class

And, as always, straight from the desk of the @percahliaweek team:

Fairytale

Fairytale AUs, obviously - classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Rapunzel, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, and more!

Some of the less specific ones, like tales of dragons and knights and damsels (gender neutral) in distress, or other kinds of stories like legends and folktales

Telling fairytales to their kids or other children in Whitestone, their story as a fairytale told years later (perhaps a modern AU?), moments written in the style of a fairytale

Common fairytale tropes, like happy endings, sly siblings, princes and princesses, curses and magic, talking animals, and etc. :)

Class

The Title, “I may have wits and class, but I’ll never have what you do: a pure heart” (TLoVM e8), how social class affects Vex’s self worth

Balls and dances, state dinners, diplomatic meanings, and other fancy people things

Vex adjusting to nobility, Percy’s noble childhood, Percy being a classy gentleman and treating Vex like she deserves

Class swap AUs - or, for a different interpretation, taking a class together (like cooking or dancing), and high school or college/university AUs

Day 5 of Perc’ahlia Week will be Thursday, September 28th!! The first day of the week is just over a week away, and I’m getting so excited!! Apologies again for running behind on these moodboards, I’m putting in double-time to catch up.
