do you have any bug game stories that are more romantic than platonic? (not sexual ofc) safe noms with lovey-dovey nonsense is peak fiction for me

hmmmmge, in terms of ones I've already written, I've got like 2 or 3:

Where Ash Drifts Like Snow - C/rimson N/ails (so M/arkoth/X/ero), pre-relationship, they're both crushing hard, definitely fluff

Tender Moments - Q/uirrell/emm (or L/emmq/uirrel, whichever we call it), the definition of lovey-dovey nonsense, there's hardly any plot to it it's just 2.6k words of fluff

Bug Bites 3 - Chipped, the first ficlet there, has some fluffy Q/uirrell/emm again, and the one after that, Stealth Nap, has that pairing + T/iso, but any romance is maybe just sorta implied? A little?

Oh and there's This 2-part Thing - Not bug game, but notable in that the couple there is technically a romantic pairing, lot of angst with a touch of hurt/comfort at the end. if it helps I was picturing it with X/ero as the pred and M/arkoth as the prey while writing it lmao

aaaaaand because of my usual bs, here's a couple tidbits of stuff I have in the idea doc and outlines of unwritten fics that happen to involve romance below the cut (so many pheckin images)

gonna start off with the complete outlines, for which I have three that basically set up Quirreloro and that's about it for romance:

Interlude. not vore, but vore gets referenced at the end.

Storytime. Oro is enlisted to share an anecdote from his and Quirrel's shared history. Can't remember if it's pre-relationship or established.

Research Project. Let's just say you're bound to figure out where you stand with someone when you're that close for that long ;)

next up, future Bug Bites:

Tisoquirrel fluff (and Ghost is also there). Shenanigans ensue.

Crimson Nails. Those two are still crushing super hard on each other but may or may not get slightly less useless about it.

Tisoquirreloro. Or Tisoquirrel at least, Oro isn't too involved yet. More shenanigans ensue.

...Ogrisma? I don't know how people tend to write out the ship name but yeh. Fluffy fluff. Finally, a semi-functional couple

Crimson Nails again. They may or may not be aware of how useless they are and may or may not work towards fixing that.

Clothmyla. Seriously I don't know what the ship names are for a lot of these. Anyway, uhhh. Attempt at lessbeans. Gotta start somewhere!

Aaaaand finally, an Assortment of Other Ideas. hh.

Crimson Nails, Xero moves into with his boyfriend. Hurt/comfort.

Cold Night 2, electric boogaloo, and this time it's Tisoquirreloro. Many much cuddols.

Oh wait I guess that's about it for the romance fic ideas without going into things that are more plot than noms/fluff. and I've already gotten way ahead of myself anyway, so. e ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ enjoy the patches of content ! probably gonna ramble in the tags again

I'm a dsmp fan but in the past , uhhh, since quarantine started, I got a passing interest in evil ex so every once in a while I would check on his Tumblr tag and I have to ask

What happened???

Last time I checked he was a funky villain with short man syndrome trying to take over with crypto

Okay so, best as I can answer (and spoilers/content warning for anyone who hasn't seen/doesn't care for Evil X stuff):

EX showed up again this season (...probably. we'll get to that in a minute) and proceeded to use lightning powers to mind-control Xisuma into developing "derpcoin." Which is kinda crypto, yeah.

(though it's a flawed depiction if that's where Xisuma was going with it because it was still a physical product that technically had just as much value as diamonds because various hermits decided it did. And when you're working in what basically amounts to a bartering society [and diamond ceases to be usefully-valuable once everyone has netherite and/or mending] things have legitimate value when a minimum of two people decide that they do and that's not crypto that's deciding to use glass beads as currency instead of seashells but anyway--)

Over the course of the season his manipulating got worse and worse, and frankly was pretty abusive toward Xisuma ("my foolish axolotl") culminating in EX trying to actually attack X but -- Moon Big. And apparently Moon Big disrupted his powers, so instead of blasting X with mind-melting manipulation rays, he just kinda. Fizzled. And ran off, because he was confused. And then had a mini existential crisis involving his lightning powers having turned into multicolored confetti light.

But Moon's Big so EX decides it's time to hightail it out of Dodge, taking all the diamonds he "earned" through derpcoin with him. Xisuma is left with the sudden awareness that the server is literally crumbling around him (he had apparently started to notice that things were Going Wrong when EX's powers began to weaken, but kept it to himself because he didn't want EX to redouble the mind-control efforts) and all the derpcoin has turned to iron ingots and wooden planks.

(actually, side note, I'm still a little confused on that last bit because we saw that if you took 4 of the coins and crafted them together you got a derpblock. But the blocks were revealed to be wooden planks. So what four items did they craft together to get a wooden plank? I dunno. Datapack nonsense, I shouldn't question it, lol)

So EX takes off with the diamonds and heads through the Nether to some other world that probably longtime fans recognize and are welcome to add on to this post. But when he arrives there, the Moon is Also Big and he cries out that he's been betrayed and asks "Is this the end? I think this might be the end" just before his moon also crashes (possibly. The video goes into a burst of white static but we don't actually see it hit. And I go by superhero rules of "if we don't see them actually die, they're not dead.")

HOWEVER.

All of this is... wibbly wobbly, to use a term from an old fandom. Because according to Ren and Doc's vids (and the Hermatrix quest at least is canon to X's storyline, since he participated in one of their clue-finding adventures) all of this was a simulation that took place within a computer program. So possibly this was not the real Evil Xisuma, but rather a projection of some kind. Possibly real-Xisuma subconsciously creating a villain to blame things on, or justifying his banning of EX in the past, or... I mean there's a dozen things you could do with that. The only bit you have to kinda squint at is that we see EX on his own, escaping from Hermitcraft. So if he was a simulation, he believed he was real.

Alternatively, what if Evil X is still considered a Hermit by the Hermitheus and that really WAS him, stuck in the simulation just like the rest of them? Which means that somewhere on that ship, EX is in cryosleep as well, and what if that's the fate of someone who's banned from the server, that they get locked away in a pod on the Hermitheus? This could be fodder for some VERY interesting stories.

Anyway, it's very open-ended and there's a lot of room for some really fun interpretations. Hope that explained like... something, at least, lol. If you want to skim through Xisuma's vids for just the Evil X content, most of the really relevant bits for the last half of the season are in the form of animations by th3pooka at the beginning of his episodes. They're all pretty short, and you can watch just them without really having to watch through all of X's vids.

(Though I do recommend watching X's vids. I love his content, even without the stories.)
