Oh yeah Nick.
Vash sniffed that from miles away, deadass stared at all your red flags, and thought "Mh, that's sexy".

Oh Boy if the naruto brain grips me as hard as it did in 2018, I really just might end up doing a trigunxnaruto crossover. Specifically with trigun characters in naruto world
Listen. I am just utterly fascinated by Naruto's world building. And if I can find a way to fit Vash (and Nai) into the Naruto world's lore in a way that is both convincing and fitting. Then fuck YEAH I wanna do it

okay very late to the college au day thing but idc cause i have thoughts. namely one-sided-academic-rivalry-vashwood-college-au. yep hear me out okay
so wolfwood is a major in child care & psychology (gonna become a social worker to work for the orphanage) and vash is a general psychology major (was in biology/biotech but switched out). wolfwood was doing great, keeping his head low and focused on the goal. he was passing with flying colours and for once was letting it affect his ego.
it was all going great until in one if his classes, an absolute mess of a human stumbled in as a new student who was never prepared, got distracted at everything around him, seemed to not understand any of the content, and STILL beat nicholas grade-wise. so wolfwood tried harder, studies more, studies the blonde typhoon himself, but no matter what he did, vash the human stampede still did better than him and wolfwood can’t figure out why.
he hates vash, and makes that clear, but at the same time tries to get to know him to figure out his academic secrets. BIG MISTAKE! vash is just very smart and has a different but effective work ethic that just works for him. not to mention, he is without a doubt one if the greatest people wolfwood had met and within a few conversations he is madly in love. it drives him crazy. it’s actually insane. he is ready to put everything on the line it’s wild.

College au Wolfwood HC’s <3
I thought the guy needed some love! I’ve mainly written Nai hcs and Vash hcs but I’ve had some thoughts brewing of this guy :)
I was making this before I read @macncherries character study on Vash and Wolfwood and he definitely inspired some of this!
I definitely plan to expand on this but I wanted to start with headcanons before delving into drabbles and whatnot lol
-He has a mullet that’s not that taken care of. His hair is always messy dude
-hates constricting shirts. Tight collars make him go insane, he feels like he can’t breathe
-^^he does love loose turtlenecks more. He feels a little fancy, y’know? :>
-he’ll buy mints in bulk because he can’t smoke in class so he has some big ass gallon sized ziplock bag halfway full of mints where he fishes one out and eats it
-it’s a bit where he’ll have unwrapped ones and offer it like it’s a drug to Meryl LMAO
-he likes the feeling of loose linen colorful button ups. Vibrant orange looks wonderful against him, half of the top unbuttoned
-he’s paying off a motorcycle he got. Expensive? Yeah. But he like needed it. So…
-He’s got a used Nissan he’s also still paying off. He gives me Nissan vibes. Like think 2014 Nissan that’s somehow still working with a bit of dust on the dash and a makeshift ashtray in the center console + gum + mint wrappers randomly tossed in there.
-met Vash via Milly and Meryl (they wanted to form a study group and he was having a mini competition w Meryl over who’d get the highest test score on smth—-> became friends w Vash and reader who are very smart lol)
-when Wolfwood wasn’t presenting as masc as he is now (pre transition to mid transition) he wore his pants low on his waist like guys in the 90’s (reference that one scene in Clueless LMAO) with a part of his ass hanging out- made him feel more masc in a time where it was harder for him.
-he likes honking when he drives. Vash called him a goose because he honks so mf much
-he’s got several piercings, he wants to get an eyebrow one perhaps? He has several ones for his ears (he feels really cool with them + when he feels femme he gets a bunch in bulk via Amazon or his usual place if he’s feeling fancy)
-Claims he doesn’t need retail therapy, stares into shop windows a bit too long. Man has a will of steel.
-He hates studying. But he does it anyway. While Meryl makes flash cards he’ll make the dumbest puns and memory hints with Vash (that make Milly laugh and Meryl annoyed to no end claiming they don’t help) (they actually do help)
-He has all caps handwriting- it’s kinda cool.
Tumblr media
^^he does the random little big lines through his H’s because he thinks they’re cool
-a lot of the quirks he has are because he saw it in a movie and integrated it into his mind- having little flairs and things that scream him
-he uses sharpie to color his nails black when he’s bored (Vash uses Meryl’s gel pens to doodle on his hands) (they’re doodle bros)
Ok so outfit pics
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
IMO he totally likes a more subdued grungy vibe but still harbors a love for vibrant button ups
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Referencing to the photo w the denim jacket? He def has 1-2 denim jackets he sticks to for comfort and I think one day when he’s feeling especially wacky he’ll go crazy with it and start using bleach or puffy paint on the sleeves. He felt it was lacking. Perhaps the fangs on the back, perhaps the punisher drawn on the back, etc. He let Vash draw little stars on the shoulders and tiny smiley faces :)
For the second two next to the denim jacket one I feel like he’d get tshirts for the sole purpose of making them tank tops. He likes to show off his armpit hair sometimes, it’s gender affirming for him, and plus he gets hot out very easily. (Why do you think his shirt is always unbuttoned?? Because he’s a whore??) yes
But patchwork button ups and colorful shirts like that are very cool and I think he’d like those on occasion.
-He likes classic rock like idfk Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, along w other artists and alt genres. The guy has taste, give him respect
-he def has like 2 pairs of shoes and doesn’t switch them. Like Birkenstocks he found at the thrift that are lowk falling apart and these boots he found half off (also at the thrift) that are also falling apart from overuse
-I feel like he’d accidentally dress like grungy Adam Sandler in the summer LMAO
-the dude always has tension headaches and it’s either from the constant smoking, the withdrawal of smoking because he can’t smoke in class, or the immense amount of stress he feels
-He acts as chauffeur for the ladies and Vash because he claims Meryl’s music taste is mid and Vash at the wheel is a nightmare
-(both him and Vash are gentlemen in their own way for the girlfriends Milly and Meryl. Guard dogs fr. I love this dynamic hehe)
I plan to do more for Meryl and Milly and add onto this because as I write more thoughts about college au Trigun flood my brain and I need to get them out ty for ur time I hope you have a great day ALSO PLS COMMENT OR REBLOG UR THOUGHTS or feel free to dm me I would love to share the brainrot with everyone! :D

Thoughts on Trigun Stampede
I can see why this new (reboot-retelling-reimagining-prequel?) show may be divisive for fans of the OG ‘98 show. But for me it’s an improvement on the ‘98 version in a lot of ways (not all ways, but many).
The OG anime was the VERY FIRST anime I ever saw besides a few episodes of Sailor Moon or Pokémon that I may have caught while babysitting. I saw it in high school (2003-ish?) after a friend of mine cos-played Vash for an anime convention.
While I really enjoyed the show (specifically Vash’s arc and character), there was LOTS I didn’t like and it informed my hot-and-cold opinions on anime for a long time.
I adored Vash; I loved the world building of the planet and concept of the PLANTS; I really loved the dynamic between the 4 main protagonists. The music was bad ass. The thematic questions of when is it okay to choose who lives and dies (and whether humanity deserves to be saved) were excellently developed, and the Christian imagery was *chefs kiss*
But the show irritated me in a lot of ways too. I hated what I dubbed ‘face-changing’ when the animation style would shift so suddenly from serious to exaggerated. I found the character design of most of the villains (and Milly if I’m being honest-not her character, her design) to be largely ugly. The animation was stilted and the frame rates were sooooo low even in big fight scenes. And Knives I felt was under-utilized as a villain and his conclusion a bit rushed.
I re-watched the OG before I started watching Trigun Stampede and my opinion stayed pretty much the same (with the added exception that I found Vash’s objectification of women- facade or no- early in the show to not fit tonally with his overall character and was a bit squicky).
But now I’m watching the NEW version and….I’m SUPER digging it. Almost ALL of the things that I disliked about the 98 version have been removed or improved upon and MOST of the things I liked have remained or been updated.
The story has less filler overall. One COULD argue that it is ‘rushed’ but with the announcement of a second season, I really don’t feel like things from before have been removed, just delayed until a later part of the story. The show is more tonally consistent throughout, something I found jarring in the OG.
I feel like the villains, especially Knives, are legitimately threatening, and in some cases are given sympathetic backstories which made them more fleshed out. I appreciated, for instance, Vash being given a history with Monev/Rollo. It made that fight more meaningful since they had a connection to each-other beyond ‘I’ve been told to kill you’.
I still really enjoy Wolfwood as a character here, and am enjoying seeing more of his past. His relationship with Vash is still extremely gripping/endearing. Love the use of Needle-Noggin again.
I think they’ve done something smart with Meryl by giving her development beyond learning to love Vash. She starts out naive here, which is NOT how she is in the OG, but she’s still as driven. I think by shifting her development over 2 seasons and almost treating this season as her ‘backstory’ she’ll be more interesting and three-dimensional for it by the time the show concludes. Not that I disliked her in the original, I just found her more bland than Vash, Wolfwood, and even Milly, as she was a more static character.
Let’s talk about ANIMATION. As stated above, I have no nostalgia for the animation of the original. I found the face-changing off-putting, the secondary character and villain design outside of the main protagonists to be hard to even look at (I’m not including Vash, Wolfwood, Legato, Knives here as they all have excellent and unique designs) and the actual quality to be cheap and stilted.
While I DO think that the OG hand-drawn animation could be a bit more unique and expressive at times in its shadows and lighting (think Vash and his blue glowing eyes in silhouette), this updated CGI animation has almost everything else in its favour for me. No face-changing or off-model characters! Clean, crisp lines! Dynamic and fast-paced movement! Clear and unique characteristics coming across in weight and mass and angles! Beautiful set dressing! Fantastic colours everywhere! Energetic camera tracking! Jacket!
I will say that one thing I keep going back to as something the OG does slightly better is Vash himself. I think he’s just a tad TOO soft-spoken in this version and his comedic and goofy facade has been lost a bit. He’s still fundamentally the same person as the original and he’s so engaging and sympathetic as a character- that remains the same if not better- but I feel his ‘spark’ may have been lost a bit in the re-telling. I’m glad they kept his original voice actor for the update, and I like his more mature performance here.
I’m of two minds on his redesign as well. Part of me loves the new arm and jacket and fluffy hair, and part of me wishes he had a bit more ‘presence’ on screen. He seems…smaller, somehow? His facial expressions are just right, though! He has that ‘older-than-they-look' softness about him that really comes across in his eyes and voice. I’m excited to see if season two continues to bring back more elements of the original character (sleeker, more inconspicuous arm design, and buttoned up coat, for instance).
Overall I’ve enjoyed revisiting Trigun in general, and I’m happy to have a production that has taken something that I loved but saw as flawed, and polished it up a bit and made it shiny and new.
9/10 would recommend.

your milly the stampede au is so amazing!! how does it feel to be smarter than everyone else in this world for coming up with such a big brain au. also you're so right about how people don't take milly seriously and it really sucks, i just started watching the 98 trigun yesterday and vash literally praises her intelligence *within the first few episodes* and says that she herself doesn't realize how smart she actually is. she's so damn amazing and the way the fandom treats her really sucks :( thank you for doing justice to the best girl in the series!!
[keysmash] thank you! i'm definitely not smarter than everybody but i love thinking about trigun and silly little aus SO much. milly's the best girl!!! i know there are probably far less people than i think there are that actually demean milly as a character/are misogynistic about her, but boy howdy. when you come across people that do it's such a bummer. and trope-y archetypes are really easy for fandom to fall into. ah well! she is very loved though overall! best girl! she's so smart and kind and clever!

Damn right they are!!!
(Love that he sees Milly as the "smart" one here -- not to dunk on Milly though, 'cause she's actually extremely perceptive underneath her happy-go-lucky demeanor! )
Commentary under the cut!
[Art & Story by Yasuhiro Nightow. Translation by Trigun Ultimate Overhaul.] [Disclaimer: I have consumed much meta content & had many conversations about Trigun on Tumblr and Discord since earlier in 2023. Lots of my commentary will be a result of cooperative analysis, so thank you to all who share their thoughts!] [Warning: While I will mostly avoid manga spoilers, some of my commentary will involve discussion of future topics. I am also assuming readers have seen the 98 anime and/or Trigun Stampede and are at least somewhat familiar with some of the major story beats.]
At the beginning here we see Vash obtaining an absurd amount of food for Kaite, who Vash has keenly noticed is hungry but won't admit it. (What a sweetie.)
Tumblr media
Vash goes on to try to comfort the kid by pointing out it's probably too dark outside for a raid, and also by musing that humanity's arrival on this planet might have been a good thing, after all. Kaite immediately turns the tables back on Vash in another shining example of the perceptive capabilities of the seemingly innocent:
Tumblr media
Kaite was born into hardship, into the struggle of humanity to survive on a planet that was never meant to sustain them. I suppose the people from the early days after the big fall might have spoken with more optimism, lived with hope that they might build a happy life on this new planet. By the time Kaite's generation rolls around, they know full well how rough this life is, with no hope of things getting any better.
Vash subsequently collapses to the floor and passes out, having taken a drink from a cup that the kid had apparently laced with some kind of drug.

Introducing the leader of the Bad Lad Gang: Brilliant Dynamites Neon. (God, these names...)
Tumblr media
I actually kind of love BDN's character design. He's a neon cowboy who is somehow both intimidating and completely extra.
We see that Kaite is part of some nefarious plan of BDN's, which is about to get underway. Oh, look! They're attacking the sand steamer!
Tumblr media
Poor Milly and Meryl, who had been asleep in their narrow bunks, awake to the commotion and slam their heads into the bed panels. (The thought of trying to sleep in those things makes me feel so claustrophobic.)
The Bad Lads show no mercy as they gun down those in their way. This group of bandits, led by BDN, are here to claim whatever valuables they can find, particularly from the wealthy passengers aboard.
The scene cuts to Vash in a dream state (Also, Vash is now laying on the bed??? Did Kaite, like, move him?? All by himself??? I'm picturing this small kid going through the trouble of moving this tall dorito of a man from the floor to the bed, which he absolutely did not need to do. Maybe Kaite felt guilty for double-crossing him. Maybe it was a small thank you for feeding him. Maybe a bit of both.)
Vash hears singing, then he sees her: Rem. Though we don't yet get a lot of information about this woman or her relationship to Vash, it is immediately clear that she is very, very important to him.
Tumblr media
(Also Vash has his real left arm in this dream T_T)
Rem is so foundational to the way Vash views the world and the way he chooses to live his life. She is his foundation. How often does he dream of her like this?
Vash immediately starts opening up to her, talking about his reality as if it were some bad dream. In this short scene, we see that Vash looks to Rem for guidance. He looks to her to supply him with meaning, with motivation.
Tumblr media
Rem laughs and teases him for being so serious, even in a dream. She then delivers her iconic "blank ticket" line:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, this is Vash's foundation. This idea that your fate is not predetermined, that you always, always have a choice. Vash makes a choice every single day to live the way he does.
The whole "blank ticket" thing comes up a lot in the manga, and even came up in s1 of Stampede!
Tumblr media
The dream shatters, and Vash shouts her name before waking and rolling off the bed with tears in his eyes.
Tumblr media
(omg I love his dopey face after he gets wedged in between the bed and the wall)
Fortunately, this prevents him from being discovered by a member of the Bad Lads who poked into the room. Vash snaps back to reality as he realizes something is amiss.
The scene shifts, and we see BDN frustrated by the lack of money and valuables he's been able to lift off the wealthy passengers--that is, until he learns that most of the valuables on board are locked away in a safe, the combination to which no one on the ship knows (as an added security measure for, y'know, bandit raids like this.) He then orders the conductors to ramp up to top speed and head toward a cliff, intending to crash the entire sand steamer in order to break open the vault. Obviously an insane plan that would result in the death of everyone aboard.
Chapter 6 opens with the sand steamer's protective escort, whose vehicles have been damaged by the bandits, leaving them stranded. They note that the sand steamer is no longer in sight, and they can hear the sound of it accelerating.
Cut to the control room of the steamer. One of the conductors attempts to pull the brake, and BDN shoots him through the head. Kaite is brought to the control room, BDN asks him how to steer the steamer, and the kid reveals an unexpectedly detailed knowledge of the ship's engineering.
The plan was originally just to loot the ship then dip out, but when Kaite finds out that the new plan is to crash the ship, he begs BDN not to do it. (Didn't your mom ever tell you not to trust the leader of a criminal gang, kid?)
Tumblr media
Kaite begins to argue, but BDN ain't havin' none of it. BDN starts beating the crap out of him, but Kaite stubbornly continues to argue and beg. He finally reveals that this is his dad's ship. Then we get this amazing, visceral imagery of BDN's gun clattering against Kaite's chattering teeth. It's seriously SO good. I can just hear that panel.
Tumblr media
BDN is definitely about to put a bullet in this kid's skull (we just saw him do the same thing to the conductor, so we know he's not fuckin' around) but our boy Vash arrives just in time to save Kaite's life. He appears outside the front window and shatters it. It looks to me like he fired three shots into the empty conductor's chair:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at him swingin' in, he monkey
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Through a series of insane stunts, Vash manages to extract Kaite from danger.
One thing that stands out to me here: In their escape, Vash and Kaite are clambering along the outside of the sand steamer. In a panic they realize the ship is definitely about to clip a rock outcrop on their side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know what this reminds me of? The scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (an excellent movie, btw) where Indy is stuck on the outside of a military tank and about to crash into some rocks.
Tumblr media
I feel like this has gotta be intentional. Nightow was obviously a fan of westerns, cowboys, etc. and I can definitely see him being a fan of Indiana Jones. This particular film came out in 1989, which would have given Nightow plenty of lead time to incorporate an homage into his series, which didn't start publication until 1995.
Anyway,
Milly and Meryl are lurking in the shadows like little gremlins, BDN threatens the last remaining conductor to comply by holding a teary female passenger at gunpoint, and we cut back to Vash and Kaite making their way back inside the sand steamer. Vash is so fucking done with Kaite and the Bad Lads and all of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get a little more info re: Kaite's dad, that he was a workaholic and presumably not the most present and participatory father. Yet Kaite obviously harbors more than resentment -- he loved and respected his father.
Tumblr media
(I just love this panel)
Vash announces that they're going to put a stop to this and doesn't give Kaite a choice in the matter of helping out. Kaite then pulls out a detailed blueprint of the sand steamer (named 'Flourish') which he freaking copied by hand from the original (which his father designed) right down to the handwritten notes in the margins. This kid...had mad respect for his father's work. It's so wonderful and sad all at once. Brilliant engineering, in exchange for a man being a present father to his son. A brief flashback shows there was no lack of love; Kaite merely wanted more of his father's time. But at the same time, Kaite understood, deep down.
Then Kaite breaks down and starts crying, expressing regret for selling out his father's work, just for some cash. (um and also a bunch of people are about to die?) ........but Vash puts a stop to this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically, "GET IT TOGETHER, KID!!!" We can still do something about this, do not despair, it ain't over 'till it's over, etc.
Tumblr media
Oh, Vash.......💖 Spreading hope wherever he goes...
And finally,

DS9 season 1 liveblog
[Season index: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 PS]
Emissary
Wait, "kidnapped for six days"? I thought the timeframe was much tighter...
I hope Kira won't always overact so much.
I like how quickly Sisko can go from barely contained cold hatred to cheerful manipulation.
Bashir's LITERALLY FIRST LINE is flirting! I'm honestly impressed :D
Bwahaha, tell him, Kira!
...Did O'Brien change back into his old uniform just to visit the Enterprise?
O'Brien now talks to computers just like Geordi.
Is this show going to regularly use baseball as a metaphor, like TNG did with poker? :D
This episode is a much better take on explaining humanity to an alien than "Encounter at Farpoint".
Past Prologue
The entire opening scene is just delightful -- does that even need saying?
Why does O'Brien feel so strongly about not giving the guy to the Cardassians? Has Chain of Command happened already?
Ooh, is this the encounter with the Duras sisters that will be referenced in TNG season 7, or are they going to visit DS9 again?
"Klingons have an odd sense of style, don't you agree?" -- Nah, only those two.
Drinking game: a shot every time Garak says the word "simple".
I didn't expect the show's second story to be so good!
A Man Alone
...Is every episode going to open with a scene where an older person on whom Bashir crushed within five seconds of their screentime is standing behind him and touching his shoulders?
I'm confused again, isn't the O'Brien kid a bit too old?
"Killing your own clone is still murder" -- Was this episode deliberately written as a fuck-you to Up the Long Ladder, or is it just a lucky coincidence?
Babel
What a beautiful script lol
Why aren't they at least trying to build a linguistic database? That was my first idea...
Captive Pursuit
"I'm not a barkeep" Well now I want an AU with Quark as Mrs Hudson...
"They've reversed the polarity of our shields" Sorry I just cannot take this phrase seriously...
Oh ffs, not the Prime Directive again!
Wow, this show really likes O'Brien...
Q-Less
I love the guest appearances from TNG characters! It really helps to establish the show as part of the same continuity.
Q and Vash's Doctor-companion dynamic gives me life.
Oh no, the Ferengi handjobs are back, I was wondering when it would happen...
"I like your new tailor" I thought Q meant Garak, not the change in Starfleet uniforms...
"But it's not going to be the same without you. When I look at a gas nebula, all I see is a cloud of dust. Seeing the universe through your eyes, I was able to experience wonder." I'M DYING THIS IS LITERALLY THE DOCTOR'S LINE
Dax
I was looking forward to this one! But I didn't expect the "how Trills actually work, let's forget about The Host" story to be presented as a courtroom episode, that's pretty clever.
Ah, of course whenever they talk about Dax's past relationship with a woman, they switch to third person and male pronouns -_-
I thought the wife was the murderer.
The Passenger
God, don't they have filters or oxygen masks or anything like that?
Yoo, a possession episode! This is endearing: TNG season one sometimes felt like revisiting TOS stories with a new cast, this season does the same to TNG.
Move Along Home
Does a fourteen year old really need a strict bedtime?
Kidnapping people is easy with transporter technology -- but how does one change their victims' clothes in the process?!
Quark's breakdown was unexpected; I suppose there'll be a follow-up on that?
The Nagus
Jake and Nog's friendship is very heartwarming.
Vortex
I'm glad to learn more about Odo, but wasn't this episode kinda cheesy?
Battle Lines
Yess, more Kira drama
Let me make a guess: this will be important in the season finale?
The Storyteller
You know that post "Have you ever accidentally befriended someone who was extremely annoying"? It needs to be on a screenshot of O'Brien and Bashir from this episode.
Progress
Kira's subplot is like an unholy hybrid between The Survivors, Ensigns of Command/Journey's End, and Preemptive Strike. Plus, that guy looks like Hannibal Lector.
Jake and Nog's subplot is giving me a bit too much secondhand embarrassment.
"I'm going to tell Minister Toran that she's remained temporarily on Jeraddo at your request" "But sir, that isn't true" "Make it true, Doctor. Now, please" lmao Sisko's methods are... interesting.
He gave a good speech to Kira in the next scene, too.
I'm glad it worked out well for the kids :D I kind of expected the two plots to tie together at the end -- like the old man settling on the piece of land they bought.
If Wishes Were Horses
"Waste of time. Too many people dream of places they'll never go, wish for things they'll never have, instead of paying adequate attention to their real lives." Are you calling all of your viewers out, Odo?
A bit too much technobabble, but funny! I thought this would be not just about imagination, but about youth. The imaginary characters are conjured up by a three year old, a fourteen year old, and by Julian whose immaturity is even commented upon in the cold open.
The Forsaken
Oh... oh my god... it's her
Why is her hair pink, anyway
O'Brien's talking to the computer right after opening credits, just after Majel Barrett's name appeared on screen -- are they doing this on purpose?
this orange hair is even worse
"You are the thin beige line between order and chaos" I'm dying what kind of compliment is this
Odo's grumpiness re: humanoid mating rituals is beautiful
"Every 16 hours I turn into a liquid" "I can swim"
Hello fanfic trope :D
Yes, Odo, I was making the same faces during the episode she's recalling
"Do you hear it?" "Hear what?" The voice" ARE THEY REALLY DOING THIS
"Like a baby" I'd say, more like Lwaxana
"It came here when we downloaded the probe's files. If we upload those same files back to the probe, it might go with them" That's... not how it works...
Universal acceptance is a lovely and very plausible other side of the coin to Lwaxana's eccentricity and odd taste. I've grown to appreciate that. She's always so obnoxious at the beginning of the episode, I completely forget about her sensitive side and she manages to surprise me every time.
wait, so she's been canonically wearing wigs in all those TNG episodes?
Dramatis Personae
Wait, is the infirmary right across the corridor from Quark's bar?
Bashir is acting very strangely
Alright, the question is "who isn't acting strangely"
Is Kira trying to flirt with Dax?
Bashir really won the temporary personality lottery. Everyone else became unlikeable and he just Lives For The Drama. I mean, more than usual...
Will Odo often play this role of the only one unaffected by a disease, like Data did? But unlike Data, he can also manipulate people. I'm only now starting to appreciate that he actually is a "Constable". Very refreshing to see a security officer who's allowed to be smart.
Duet
Oooh, finally it's time for the Bajoran-Cardassian drama again!
The plot twist makes this episode remind me of The Defector even more... And I think it cheapens the conflict; what to do with a bureaucrat who hasn't personally committed atrocities is a difficult and morally grey area -- not so much if it's the Big Bad responsible for everything and proud of it
Alright, he's too hammy, is there another twist coming?
Nice, Dukat is getting nervous, that's a good sign. I love Odo the detective
Okay, but even under his real identity, wouldn't, like, a very public trial and broadcasting his story everywhere have some effect?
I... don't really like how this episode ends on a "Not all Cardassians / Some Bajorans are just prejudiced". Still, it's the strongest story in the season.
In the Hands of the Prophets
Ughhh religious fundamentalists...
Have I mentioned how uncomfortable it is that on this show people's ears are often grabbed with completely different connotations?
Oh god I'm just seething this is too real
The murder mystery is interesting!
I hate her so much
Call! Odo!! Or! Sisko!! Preferably both!!!
General impressions:
A surprisingly even season. There are no outright failures (unlike TNG's first and last seasons -- hell, probably unlike any TNG season) but it's rarely remarkable.
The interior and costume design is quite ugly, sorry to say.
It took me several episodes to adjust after the glorious remastered HD of TNG. Please remaster this show too!
Best character for dramatic scenes: Kira
Best character for lighthearted scenes: Bashir
Most underused character: Dax
Best duo: Odo and Quark (okay, there's not much competition so far, I just wanted them to have their own category)
If O'Brien is such a super engineering pro, why did he spend all these years on the Enterprise manning the transporter instead of being Geordi's right hand man or something?
I don't know what I think of Sisko yet. But I like him more than Picard in his first season.
