Hey! First of all, thanks a lot. It's honestly flattering to hear it!

I'd say the level of pushing a piece towards realism differs depending on what I'm drawing/painting, but generally as long as the stuff I make is believable it's good enough for me! I think that calling it a semi-realism is pretty much on point. I also tend to spend more time on parts that I like, or ones that work in favor of believability f.ex. hands of a character, so maybe that's the impression you're getting when parts of an artwork stick out as more realistic than other :D

If you dont mind me asking? When did you get into art/started drawing? I've lurked on your twitter for a bit and always love your art when you post! You style/characters are always so cool and well made! And any tips or advice for a person wanting to try to get into art? Rn I've just been going to Pinterest and copying down art study. anatomy, clothing, etc I see on there onto paper the best I can. Also? Do you think I have any chance at drawing like you in a few years? Or does it take decades?

Hey, not at all! And thank you for all the kind words, I don't know what to say aside from I'm very flattered and happy that you like my art sm! To answer your first question I started drawing as a little kid and liked it enough to stick with it for longer haha. (The rest of the ask is under the cut)

When it comes to tips I shared some of them, mostly in regards to drawing people and developing the style, in THIS ASK I think it's still a decent guide to how I approach this stuff if you're interested in it!

I also gave an answer about drawing in THIS ASK about armors, it tackles the subject of simplification and tracing/copying.

Regarding strictly your approach, I think Pinterest is a good starting point- there's a ton of great tutorials there that often simplify complex things into more digestible bits. What I could recommend though is checking out some YT videos on drawing basics that could supplement your studies and help you understand the subject matter. Some YT channels like Proko (anatomy) give you an assignment at the end of the video so it's easier to know what to do with the things you've learned. You can go for the books as well- it's good to see what's your fave approach to learning so don't be afraid to try new things! Giving a go to different approaches and learning about tools is both fun and educational, especially when something makes your brain go "AHA!" after you've been stuck on an issue for too long.

If you're just starting out I think it's good to cut yourself some slack. Everyone has a different speed when it comes to learning things, so don't feel bad if you feel you're going slow at the start. Practice always takes time, but it's usually a case of what does and doesn't work for you. And you know, also the circumstances you're in, how much time you have during the day, what is the goal for your art and all that jazz. That's why it's hard to answer your question about the time, because everyone including me is going to have a different progress to the artist next door. The amount of free resources available is a great help when it comes to accelerating your learning though, and I'm sure you'll find a lot of good solutions there if you haven't already. Haha I'm doing what I can to keep him on model and it's not always easy to do, so I'm happy to hear that! Thank you very, very much! Caboose has nice big forms that are very relaxing to draw, so he's definitely friend-shaped for my brain!

Hello! I mentioned to you a looooong while back that your Blue Simmons with a pony-tail inspired me to give him long hair, and I wanted to show you the results (at least, two of the traditional art ones that turned out pretty good)-

On the left is one from all the pin-up poses I did for the characters, and the right is from my story where... a LOT of stuff happens, but right here is Simmons coming to terms with the fact that his parents are BAD (which is why they've had him cover up his cybernetics. don't worry, his friends come to the rescue). So, thank you for being brave enough to give the maroon nerd a pony-tail, you've made this all possible~

By all means, never doubt the amount of shitpost in my brain 1. Now that RnBs retired, Wash gets/is gifted a kitten. It's all good and dandy, but there's one thing... Sarge realizes that it gives the Blues one more member and they have the tactical advantage. He makes sure to purchase a battle beast for himself and gets into the mindset of „My cat is better than yours”. Whenever he sees Wash he makes this kind of passive-aggressive conversation like a dad of an overachieving kid: "So. My little battle cat brought me a fine hunt of five fat mice this afternoon. Heghegh. Well...How's your furry beast, Washington?" "Oh, she's adorable! Tucker showed me funny oohh... tictacs? Toks. Tiktoks. And we're thinking of getting her a tiny costume for the Halloween!" "AN ARMOR FOR THE CAT? WHAT GRADE? WHICH MARK IS IT? WHO'S YOUR SUPPLIER?" "Oom...Etsy user kittypaws125?"

As you can see I'm a fan of Sarge one-upping the Blues in the dumbest possible ways (even though he's kinda purple at this point) Cats become friends. He hates it. He brings shotgun to the playdates. Just in case. It's a very tiny shotgun. Shooting cat treats.

2. As a cultured "Donut and Church being besties" enjoyer I do like some whack comedy plots going on. I imagine that Donut and Church sometimes meet in awkward places outside the canyon, like a space Home Depot or IKEA riding the absolute "OH, HI NEIGHBOUR :)" energy wave. As soon as they're back to the canyon, (in this scenario still on fighting terms for comedy reasons) they yell the most stupid insults at each other, mocking the latest purchases like „You dull cookie cutter” or „Unfrothed soy latte asshole”. To the Reds it makes no fucking sense, but also it's Donut so it's basically a Monday for them. Tex thinks Church has the early stages of AI rampancy and Tucker feels like there's a bow-chicka to be made here but he can't grasp exactly why it's bow-wow. Caboose wants both a cookie and a soy latrine. And Doc? Doc thinks Caboose just came up with the biggest brain eco-friendly bathroom banger in history of the mankind.

3. Junior was in the Space Jam. I don't make the rules.

Is there a combo of RVB characters, either friendship or romantic, that you don't often see but you find interesting to think about? (like, what if these two were friends, or what if these two were a couple, that kind of thing)

Oh yeah for sure, I think it's pretty obvious with the stuff I'm making! I generally enjoy variety of the interactions between the characters, hence why I like the RvB so much in a first place. I think that there's still tons of cool dynamics to explore within the show and outside of it. I like grabbing onto a hinted stuff f.ex. that Caboose and Tex date stuff that I drew was just a fun exploration of one dialogue exchange! I think my ultimate fave off-side dynamic that was never fleshed out too strongly is Church and Simmons' (I blame Room Zero and s4 Blue Simmons Rebellion). A cyborg nerd-ass and an asshat AI is a chef's kiss grade of combination for me, there are so many cool angles you could explore this relationship from jokes to more romantic things And there was only one router. Oh god they were chatroom mates. Windows Update 1TB slowburn. I enjoy the post-human aspect of it a lot, both Church and Simmons are somewhere between the man and the machine- I like those themes a ton! And as y'all know I'm a pretentious little edgelord, so it just fuels that hot topic part of me with cool visuals (Like the spicy Sigma!Simmons). I like how their personalities work together, the potential for humor and stupid computer jokes. Drawing them is always a pleasure too, I really like the FCs I made for them :D Other than that, I think that having a sitcom like energy between Sarge and Flowers would be great. Something like Grumpy Old Men movie, only Sarge is a concentration of both of those grumpy guys while Flowers is a trigger-happy, prolific neighbor with holistic approach to life. Pleased as punch and pleased to punch you. I think they have a great contrast in approach to life, while sharing the feral grandpa energy at the same time. Red vs Blue? More like Old Spice vs Axe. Church and Donut, obviously. I like to make Church liking Donut really absurd in my brain. Yeah you've killed my girlfriend but I somehow can't hate you. You're my fave Red please introduce me to your spa room i'm so fucking tense. Is that cheese and wine? You're so refined. No this robe isn't too revealing, I think it accentuates your extremely well developed calves. Please don't mind me, they awaken the silliest part of me. I could go on and on, so in TLDR manner: yes for sure I think about this stuff plenty! Thanks for asking!
