O Adaptador de Controle Playstation PS3/PS4 para PS2/PS1/PC Brook Game Controller Super Converters Magic Box P2-BL foi adquirido na AliExpress, loja Shenzhen HuaiYu Technology Ltd., para uso em meu Playstation One.

Com este adaptador é possível usar controladores de Playstation 3 (Dualshock 3) e Playstation 4 (Dualshock 4) no primeiro Playstation, no Playstation 2, Playstation Classic e PCs. Ele também é compatível com uma série de controladores de terceiros do Playstation 3 e Playstation 4.

Motivação e Compra

Para muita gente, incluindo eu, jogar videogame nos consoles antigos continua sendo uma grande diversão, tão grande ou as vezes até maior que nos consoles modernos. Mas usar controles com fios, geralmente curtos, é algo de que não tenho muita saudade.

Lá nos tempos de criança eu puxava o console para perto de mim, jogava sentado no chão, ligava e desligava fios o tempo todo. Mas hoje eu prefiro o conforto do sofá, preferencialmente sem fios no caminho. Já adquiri inclusive extensores para não ficar com fios esticados e limitados.

O lançamento dos controladores sem fio da 8BitDo para o Super Nintendo, junto com os Retro Receivers SNES, começaram a mudar a esse cenário. O Super Nintendo foi meu primeiro console clássico a ganhar controladores sem fio.

Depois vieram os Joyzz do Krikz e os M30 da 8BitDo para o Mega Drive. Mas ainda faltavam controladores sem fio para o meu Playstation One e para o meu Atari 2600.

Ainda não tenho solução para o Atari 2600, continuo utilizando-o com os bons e velhos joysticks originais CX40 com extensores. Mas para o Playstation One descobri há algum tempo que existe uma solução perfeita: o Adaptador de Controle Playstation PS3/PS4 para PS2/PS1/PC Brook Game Controller Super Converters Magic Box P2-BL.

Com o Magic Box P2-BL posso usar um Dualshock 4 no Playstation One, com todos os recursos funcionais, todos os botões, D-Pad, analógicos e até a vibração.

Esta é uma solução ainda melhor que a dos demais consoles, pois não é um controlador de terceiros, o Dualshock 4 é a evolução natural do primeiro Dualshock. O Dualshock é praticamente o bisavô do Dualshock 4, trazendo melhorias e sendo sem fio.

O Magic Box P2-BL não é necessariamente barato, então ficou na minha wishlist por algum tempo. Mas mês passado eu resolvi finalmente compra-lo. Optei pela compra na AliExpress porque foi o melhor valor que encontrei.

Unboxing e Testes

O Adaptador de Controle Playstation PS3/PS4 para PS2/PS1/PC Brook Game Controller Super Converters Magic Box P2-BL veio com sua embalagem original dentro de uma caixinha de papelão, de modo que não sofreu avarias no transporte.

Na frente da embalagem destacam o uso de controladores de PS3 e PS4 no PS2, sem menções ao PS1 ou ao PS Classic. Destacam também a funcionalidade de Turbo e de personalizar as funções dos botões.

Na parte traseira falam novamente do uso de controladores do PS3 e do PS4 no PS2, e dessa vez mencionam também os PCs. Novamente não há menção ao PS1 ou ao PS Classic.

Até entendo a falta do PS Classic, pois o suporte à ele foi adicionado recentemente, e é preciso inclusive atualizar o firmware para que funcione. Mas por que omitir o PS1?

Há um diagrama mostrando como usar o Magic Box P2-BL em cada caso. No caso do PS2, conecta-se o Magic Box P2-BL no console e os controladores são conectados no Magic Box P2-BL. Note que, no caso dos dispositivos sem fio, a conexão com fio é feita para registrar o dispositivo no primeiro uso, tal qual fazemos também no Playstation 3 e Playstation 4. Depois disso o cabo pode ser removido e joga-se sem fio. O registro não é perdido quando os dispositivos são desligados.

No caso do PC, um cabo USB (não incluso) precisa ser usado para conectar a porta microUSB do Magic Box P2-BL em uma porta USB do PC. E a conexão dos controladores ocorre da mesma forma que no Playstation 2.

A embalagem ainda destaca a interface USB que permite a troca a quente, o firmware atualizável, o suporte a vibração e ao padrão XInput.

A fabricante do produto é a Brook Design, LLC. que fabrica uma série de outros produtos, inclusive outros tipos de adaptadores que permitem a interoperabilidade de diversos controladores e consoles.

Dentro da embalagem temos, além do adaptador, um manual de instruções em chinês e inglês, que explica como registrar os controladores e usar as funções de turbo e personalizações de botões. Dois adesivos com o logotipo da Brook também estão na embalagem.

O Magic Box P2-BL tem um fio com um plug de controlador de PS1/PS2, uma chave para selecionar entre PS2 e PC, um botão, um LED, uma porta microUSB para conectar no PC, e uma porta USB para conectar o controlador.

Note que cada Magic Box P2-BL suporta um único controlador. Para ligar dois controladores em um console é necessário usar dois Magic Box P2-BL.

Apesar da embalagem do Adaptador de Controle Playstation PS3/PS4 para PS2/PS1/PC Brook Game Controller Super Converters Magic Box P2-BL não fazer menção ao primeiro Playstation, os controladores do Playtation 2 são compatíveis com os do Playstation 1, então não tive qualquer problema em fazer o Magic Box P2-BL funcionar no meu Playstation One.

Adaptador de Controle Playstation PS3/PS4 para PS2/PS1/PC Brook Game Controller Super Converters Magic Box P2-BL, em funcionamento com o Playstation One e o Dualshock 4.

Jogar com o Dualshock 4 no Playstation One é ótimo. Testei vários tipos de jogos e tudo funcionou perfeitamente: botões, d-pad, joysticks analógicos, vibração, etc. Não notei nenhuma latência. Confira os meus últimos vídeos de gameplay do Playstation One em que já joguei com o Dualshock 4:

Conectei recentemente o Magic Box P2-BL para fazer a atualização de firmware e a atualização foi bem tranquila. Basta colocar a chave na posição XID, e conectar o dispositivo no PC com o botão pressionado para entrar no modo de atualização. Com o software disponibilizado pela Brook fiz a atualização em poucos segundos.

Aproveitei para verificar como fica o mapeamento de botões no PC. No teste do Windows com o Dualshock 4 notei que ambos D-Pad e direcional analógico são mapeados como direcional analógico. Quadrado, Triãngulo, X, Círculo, L1, L2, R1, R2, Share e Options se comportam como 10 botões digitais. O segundo analógico, L3 e R3 ficam sem função. É estranho, pois conectando o Dualshock 4 diretamente no Windows tudo é identificado separadamente e corretamente. Talvez em jogos que suportem o XInput o Magic Box P2-BL identifique todos os recursos.

Note que não fiz testes com o Playstation 2 nem com o Playstation Classic porque não os tenho. Também não fiz testes com o Dualshock 3, pois não pretendo utiliza-los com o Magic Box P2-BL. Deixei também de fazer mais testes com PCs, pois o Dualshock 4 se conecta via Bluetooth diretamente nos PCs com Windows, e o Dualshock 3 eu também não tenho interesse de usar no PC. Por fim, também não fiz testes com controles alternativos, como o Volante Logitech G29.

Antigamente eu costumava fazer todos os tipos de testes com este tipo de produto para deixar o artigo bem completo. Mas tenho notado que não venho obtendo retorno nesses meus artigos sobre consoles clássicos e acessórios. Minha impressão é que ninguém lê, então tenho limitado meus testes às funcionalidades que me interessam.

Meus Dualshock originais terão descanso a partir de agora, pois tenho usado apenas os Dualshock 4 para jogar no Playstation One. Até o momento não encontrei nenhum problema e nenhuma falha. Até coloquei um segundo Magic Box P2-BL na minha wishlist, para que o segundo jogador também possa jogar sem fio. Porém essa é uma aquisição de baixa prioridade e provavelmente esperarei alguma promoção.

Finally ended up modding my HSS-0130. Added PSX output along with the two select buttons. So now I basically could use the stick with any of my system. I also have Saturn-to-USB converter, and the compatibility with the Neo-Geo (and Neo-Geo based superguns) and the Dreamcast is a matter of two extra converters which are pretty easy to obtain.
