I sort of love that Van is reliably a dick to Jackie the whole time they’re in the woods. This is a character with a reputation for being sunshine, but Jackie left her for dead ONE TIME and that lesbian was like “fuck it, it’s on sight for the rest of eternity.”

There’s an alternate reality where Jackie survives to be rescued, and Van rolls up 25 years later with booze to share with everyone, “except you. You know what you did.”

also another thing that’s really interesting is about lottie vs jackie dream parallel is that jackie was meant to be the leader, coach said it himself, ‘you have what the others don’t: influence’ and she wanted that, her position was at the top of the pyramid in the real world, but in the wilderness she lost that footing and was ousted as that leader and replaced with lottie— except, lottie didn’t choose it and it seems she doesn’t really want it. it’s always the others who are speaking to her role, never lottie. van keeps telling taissa to talk to lottie. lottie said to lay the blessings at ITS feet and the girls laid it at hers. when they argued over the blanket and hunting for food, mari in particularly placing lottie on this pedestal, lottie doesn’t even speak. and in her dream, the others want her to say something, but she just wants to eat. she’s a leader to them she’s becoming this sort of holy figure they are devoting but all she wants is them to come back safely and she just wants to fucking eat. in her dream she can’t. the others want her to speak and they’re laughing at her flustering over not being able to say anything and not being able to provide for herself because this position THEY have put her in isn’t natural for her. there’s a friction there too that’s interesting bcus in the wilderness she does actually provide for them (the bear) but clearly she has anxieties she’s falling short. in jackie’s dream for her the world has tilted back into place. they are giving her sustenance, they have found hot chocolate just for her!, and expressing their love. their respective dreams really expose their roles within the group, their fears and their hopes, in extremely opposite ways. one girl wants that footing back, she wants to be the leader, she wants that influence and love back. the other doesn’t want to be the leader she’s been chosen to be, she just wants to eat, but the weight of the girls’ expectations on her are eating her up instead.

i keep seeing people say they think shauna is going to start feeding jackie to everyone else and i absolutely 100% disagree with that theory and here’s why: shauna eating jackie’s ear isn’t about sustenance. it’s about jackie being hers. it’s about her keeping jackie as her own, bringing her into herself. shauna feeding jackie to the others would go against the whole point of it all. it would mean sharing jackie. it’s less meaningful if everyone has a jackie snack. i don’t think there’s another person out there who shauna would think is worthy of having a bite of jackie.

I've mentioned them in tandem before, but I think an Oswald and Tony dynamic has a lot of untapped potential.

Tony, whose father went to prison, and Oswald, whose father was replaced by a murderous man in a yellow rabbit costume. Tony, who believes he's too good for his best friend, and Oswald, who lost his best friend due to a factory closure. Tony, who is obsessed with finding answers to the point of committing petty crimes (theft, breaking and entering, hacking), and Oswald, who generally rolls with the punches and is generally more nonconfrontational. Tony, who finds a friend in Greg/ory over his childhood friend Ellis, and Oswald, who ends up befriending Gabrielle after Ben leaves town.

Both have a tie to the motif of evil rabbits and would provide an interesting foil to one another, granted their stories ever linked.
