🌊 Welcome to Whiskerward!

Whiskerward is a still heavily work-in-progress cat colony builder RP where you make cats, trade them, and form and manage your own 'quarters'! The group is set in a fictional southern Irish inlet and has unique lore, low fantasy elements, and implements (mostly) real cat genetics to hopefully create something akin to a blend between species ARGs and traditional warrior cat RPs.

Cool and interesting places I would live to see a warriors story take place:

- Old abandoned amusement park, eveyrthing’s overgrown in vines and surrounded by trees, but the ferrish wheel is still in tact, and the kids roller coaster cars are turned to the sides and used as small dens.

- Abandoned zoo, maybe there are still some animals left, but the cats have moved in and live in the cafe’s and gift stores. They hunt in the old enclosures and make accesories out of the odd looking giant prey bones everywhere. They avoid that one starved tiger on the other side of the zoo.

- A school, the ones where the classrooms are all separate buildings. Some cats live in the library, some cats have made classrooms into camps. They hunt at the old cafeteria that’s full of rats and mice, and they chase birds that nest in the roof.

- Crashed airplane cabin in the middle of the forest. The leaders den is the cockpit, the warriors sleep in the storage cabinets above the seats. There’s plenty soft nesting in the big hyde boxes at the back.

FIRSTIL ; DISCORD RP INTEREST CHECK ‼️

Hi! This is the blog for my xenofiction story Firstil. It features many different animals in a fictionalized northern Maine wilderness. I have experience with running and developing roleplays over Discord servers (I am currently running two!) and I’ve tossed the idea around of making an RP server for this world several times now. I am/have been in a good few Warriors-based roleplays; the concept of a similar RP method with other animals has been brought into conversation many times.

So! I am doing a quick and easy interest check. Here are some possible features:

multiple character slots, ability to make a character that’s anything from a mouse to a turtle to a moose as long as it follows the rules and lore

unique location channels with individual RPs in threads, to help with organization and re-readability

(optional) narrator-guided RP threads and events (think D&D campaign!)

range in RP styles accepted, as long as responses include actions/thoughts and words

TTRPG-inspired stats, encounters, and classes

weekly character questions, month-long writing/drawing/thread prompts

So actually it is not normal for your human to bite you and although their teeth do not have the strength to bite through anything tougher than [Untranslatable material] their saliva does carry a number of bacteria that is harmful to most other sentient species within the [Untranslatable] and [Untranslatable] quadrants. This doesn't mean harm and sickness automatically but should be watched out for. The lie that humans bite to communicate friendship when they bite with intent to cause harm is a misinterpretation of light friendly bites that some humans display for affection reasons most often towards each other and rarer towards owners.

What are your main inspirations for the story of GS? Any other comics, literature, etc? I’m a huge fan of xenofiction and this has been such a good read so far, every time I get the new page notification I’m racing to get to Comic Fury

Long ago in the beginning of life, I was part of a community that was based on designing deer creatures and creating stories for rp purposes, a lot of that rubbed on me. I liked long stories where new people jump into the adventure with the main characters, I wanted something like that for myself. There's nothing that stands out for me as direct inspiration, it's just small things from many sources.

honestly i WISH this was true bc that would be really funny but i don’t think she’d actually be super into xenofiction!! she would have trouble suspending her disbelief unless it was super realistic and no one spoke (maybe jack london stuff would get a pass). esp warrior cats bc the inconsistencies with real cat behaviour would just annoy her LOL. i think either way she’d favour books about bugs if anything. i wonder if there is such a thing

in terms of whether she’d be into rp itself tbh i haven’t really given that thought but i THINK she would like it which is like. lmao. i’m not sure what she would roleplay tho. something social-based like. idk pride and prejudice type stuff

Blog: Reworking Fanworks? (crosspost)

Very quickly sitting down to throw out these thoughts because boy! I have energy and inspiration to write this all down. This may because long because I wanna give loads of context to new readers...

So, i used to be pretty into Warrior Cats – though from 2020 to April 2022, i was specifically in it for the RP circle I got into. A bit before that though I had written a whole outline for a fan story though, and I did it more as an exercise. I always felt i was bad at following through or finding endings to stories, even if just outlined. Its hard for me to tackle anything if i dont know how it will end. This was The Moon's Talon (MT) - there is an 11 page outline you can read, with a full clan allegiance, and the canon had some altered roles. And I am still very proud I finished this whole story outline! It really is the first thing i thought of and wrote a whole idea for.

But I did that, and then hopped into Rping during most of the pandemic. I won't go on about that for too long, but eventually I ran my own server called The Astronomers (TA) following a Warrior Cats story with clans and various very original ideas with lore. It was meant to literally force a reality between the real outter space beyond earth, and the more "magical" side of warriors typical beleifs. The two clans were to start as polar opposites- one beleiving strongly in more scientific views of stars and space while the other beleives that stars were personaifications of their loved ones. I had numerous arcs planned up to the "end", about 5-6 arcs, but we only barely got into arc 2 before I closed it in early 2022 for reasons outside of my control.

I had to take some time away from all that due to the stress and upset that led to the server's closing, and I hyave much enjoyed my time since. I wasn't into all that RP stuff because of warriors, really. I do xenofiction like Warriors! But i was there for the stories to tell with others more than anything.

BUT where am i going with this article you are wondering... well, its been some time since all that and I am feeling better about looking at those stories. When someone messaged the Moon's Talon blog about the outline, I was like oh! Yea I am still pretty happy with that. Maybe I can rework it to being non-Warriors? It might be refreshing, i just havent done much OC stuff lately that isnt by complicated world Cryptolalia that is so much of a WIP i cant show much for.

I have seen quite a few people rework their Warriors stories into original universes, and I have considered it before, but that was when I was in the middle of by server, and then after that I really thought I just wasn't going to pick any of that up. And on top of reworking MT, it occurred to me that I could rework all of the stuff I did for my RP too... it hit me and it made me feel kind of emotional I think. I had to give up on it in a way I couldn't change, and it sucked. I don't like to think back to all that, but it sucked. And it hurts that I never got to live out that story in the format I intended- and while I can't recreate everything as it was (either due to being too Warriors-esque, or because it was RP format specific), I feel much better about look at all that again, and reclaiming it, and rebirthing it into something new!

I can't say I have any idea where this may go. It will probably take some time as I need to take out all the Warriors stuff, and also likely redesign SO many characters. I need to figure out how to get these two stories to work with each other, because in their existing canon, MT occured in the far far past before TA. It relied a bit on the Warrior's expected "reincarnation" ideas and things related to the stars. I think I will have to do away with much of that, or do it in a way that isn't so tied to "stars are our dead relatives". I will probably shove these two stories together and not make them a huge timeskip. Which means other ties need to change, converge, whatever.

I don't even know how I will shift all this- I do look forward to getting rid of the 20 member large clans... thank god, no more random ass background cats I will never touch. I look forward to it, because both stories were actually way more inspired by Felidae- in the sense that that book treats cats as much more intelligent, capable of some human things if they learn it, etc. I don't think I will have any issues changing it up- it'll just take time.. and I am way more eager to make my own ideas not tied to the strict rules of Warriors now too.

I have lots of ideas I wanna work on, and I don't actually plan to draw as much for this as I did for my past Warriors stuff- I really forced it. But I will certain be writing stuff! And eventually I will have a section on my site for all my OC things...eventually lol. For now though, follow my tumblr!

last film / show : ...hilariously, like the person I took this from...I've been watching the Watcher youtube channel since I've been sick. Specifically the 'Are You Scared?' videos where Ryan reads scary stories to Shane. As for film, the last 3 films I watched was All of Us Strangers, Silence of the Lambs and Dune. Another show I watched was chaosium's Graveyards of Arkham

recent reads : Salem's Lot by Stephen King , and Werewolf : The Apocalypse 5th edition core rulebook, Vampire: The Masquerade Core Rulebook and Call of Cthulhu core rulebook.... I've wanted to get back into table top rp for awhile, but I'm not too keen on fantasy stuff like D&D, so I wanted to hunt for some horror/mystery ones to try. If I ever do anything with these... I'd prefer doing text rp over... calls. LOL;;

inspiration : I have a lot. I'm inspired by sci-fi and horror novels, video games and films. However, I'm super into biology and xenofiction. I like stories that feature non-human characters, like monsters, aliens.... or animals [ The Sight, Call of the Wild, Bunnicula etc] and I like a lot of gothic and cosmic horror. Other inspirations involve my interest in my Native American, African and German heritage and researching other cultures, their mythologies and the like. And despite being ashiest and more science minded, I like looking into alien conspiracy theories or cryptids. I also find witchcraft and paganism pretty fascinating. I forgot to mention, other video games I'm into that isn't just horror, like monster raising games such as pokemon, digimon...or final fantasy and kingdom hearts, etc.

8. i have. a lot

i used to jump around from project to project a LOT when i was younger. i've honestly lost count of how many times i've "started" a "comic". but i've also consolidated a lot of projects! for example, the newport project (working title) is a big amalgamation of three old projects:

"we've become darkness", which was a screenplay i was writing with an irl friend back when i was in school. it was incredibly edgy and the world building was abysmal but! there were some really good characters and even a few locations in there that i've repurposed

"smoke" which was one of those long term genre-changing labour of love type of thing. it was a high fantasy xenofiction thing featuring wolves then a period crime drama set in the 80s and yet it was somehow still the same story. at this stage i don't know EXACTLY what i'm borrowing from it for tnp beyond. vibes

"further" which was a post apocalyptic tlou-inspired comic on sudomemo of all things starring some anthro dogs. i've stolen a few major story elements from it which i ORIGINALLY stole from a dream i had. woag

this answer got long but! moral of the story is i have a lot of projects i've lost passion for but i've taken the best bits from them and polished them off :]

30. THIS IS AN INTERESTING QUESTION! i was in a bit of an art slump these past few years — in fact i'm only really getting out of it now? — so i think some of my older stuff is really something i'd like to come back to.

in particular for this segment, i wanna show off some stuff from back when i was in after dusk! (until dawn inspired anthro rp group on deviantart back in like 2016/2017)

one of the many reasons why i’m having trouble writing my main Gears fic is because it got way bigger than i ever thought it would. it went from a relatively simple “what if” scenario i originally made for an RP blog, to a story about a government conspiracy involving some inter-species political drama, to all of that plus the nature of consciousness, morality, mental illness and trauma, the power of information, and social commentary, while technically also being xenofiction.

those are all pretty big concepts by themselves and when you put them all together it gets overwhelming. at the same time i don’t want to cut anything, because it’s not that any of it doesn’t fit, it’s just very hard to pay attention to all those little details and i’m not sure i’m even good enough to do it all justice. making the story smaller in scope would feel like laziness, not like i was doing something to better the story.

Humans are natural puzzle-solvers and at least as intelligent as a [Untranslatable species] of age [earth 5 years]. Since they do have an intellect they can suffer from lack of stimulation. To keep them occupied, I suggest puzzle feeders. For example, you can drill holes in wooden logs (or buy pre-made) and fill them with sweet treats such as [peanut butter], leaving thin sticks close by for the human to use as a tool. Consider also hiding food in high places or under cover of things to be sought out.

Humans are also able to recognise themselves in mirrors and enjoy gazing into them and exploring things like refraction of light. They are especially keen on observing [colours within the human understanding of 'visible light'].

Humans enjoy things that roll and things that are made of pieces which fit together to form a large structure or image.

Soft toys are good, but are more for comfort than for mental stimulation. Games in which they have to rapidly press lights or hit pretend prey items are also good! What do you do to entertain your human?

Is it ok for my human to [sleep] in my [bed]? Human beings are a predatory species but they do not actively hunt any known sentient species up to date. This means that they be unlikely to harm you when you enter a vulnerable state.

(Consider toys that encourage your human to stalk and catch prey! Including given them [sticks and rocks] to use as tools!) So long as your [bed] provides adequate support and comfort them, your human may in fact desire to spend time with you there. Humans are clean animals and usually do not shed very much. However, some prefer to keep the human [at arm's length] in order to properly foster the master-pet relationship where the master has all the authority.

Human cleanliness

Human beings, like all apes, take part in regular grooming on at least a basic level. If given the correct tools they will often neated their fur on a regular basis and engage in cleaning of the body and teeth. Humans learn this behaviour from adults of their kind, so isolated younglings or those with mental or physical difficulties may not learn them at all.

The average human will use the [toilet] designated for waste disposal and take care of it's cleanliness needs and rate of cleaning will vary from human to human and is completely fine so long as they engage in a full clean at least once a week including teeth.

It is important to watch your humans cleanliness closely to see if they need aid with it. Although their fur and skin produces natural oils, this is not enough to maintain health.

If you are able to detect scent particles, these will give indications of your humans current cleanliness levels even if their appearance does not appear altered.

It is recommended to give your human a full body clean at least three times a [week] and teeth cleaning twice a day.

This includes various 'tricks' a human can be taught to aid in the process, such as raising or lowering body parts when commanded and turning around when desired.

Human vocalisations

In ancient times, it is said that humans were capable of full ranges of speech and even developed different languages and dialects upon their home planet locally know as Earth.

Nowdays, it appears they have lost this capability however still communicate via complex vocalisations and body movements.

Humans will chatter to each other almost continuously, although some cannot vocalise or choose not to. It is suggested by some that these vocalisations are language. Just not language as we intelligent beings recognise it.

Regardless of our abilities to understand them (even telepathic species may have trouble with homo sapien brains) they certainly seem to learn from us quite quickly. Although they cannot hold conversation, humans are able to learn a wide variety of simple commands and some even repeat phrases of language that they hear. Button training is also a valuable way to communicate with your {pet}.

Human vocalisations can also show their emotions!

Here is a file showing the different {laughing} sounds a human might make to show enjoyment. {ERROR: File format not supported} Important! Keep your senses on your humans other bodily behaviour. Some may {laugh} as a defence mechnism or fear response. It is unknown why they do this, but activities causing such distress should cease.

Humans who are agitated enough to scream are at risk of health complications such as {heart attack} and acute stress responses. They also may scream as an intimidation tactic, so once again observing body language can help assess the situation.

Last! Humans really enjoy it when you mimick their vocalisations back to them, especially the younglings and infants! It's a great way to bond with your pet, but once again make sure you observe body language. Humans are a confusing species and sometimes defy our current understanding of their behaviours by doing the exact opposite of expectations!
