one thing that was so good about jane the virgin was how it compared similar stories? let me explain:

when jane gets pregnant she decides to not get an abortion even though she’s told to, and later in the show when xo gets pregnant she choses to get an abortion, even though she’s told not to. the show isn’t swaying you one way or the other, it’s showing that both choices are valid and it depends on what you want.

or how the two sapphic stories were so different. roisa’s love story was incredibly passionate and toxic and ended in death, but petramos’s story has a happy ending because they loved each other unconditionally learned how to communicate (and also neither of them were serial killers). it shows that not all queer relationships have happy endings but not all queer relationships are doomed.

idk it gave us the best of both worlds :)

I do really love Jane the virgin but honestly a few times the “fight for your love” theme felt more like pressing the person and it just felt very off

Like after Rafael kisses Jane and she multiple times is like “no I felt nothing” and then he starts whispering in her ear and talking about sex, like that felt a lot more like pressuring her instead of “oh romance he loves me sooo much!!”

And then when Jane breaks things off with Michael-Jason but Rafael has been pulling away, taking anti depressants, and also makes it clear that he doesn’t want to be with Jane anymore because he can’t trust her, that once again felt a lot more like pressure

It’s mainly those two times but there might have been others. And it’s really upsetting because those are both very important to Jane and Rafael ending up together

This show would have benefited if the rest of season 5 was focused on Jane moving on and finding peace in loving herself and then maybe season 6 she’d have another love interest, or they could have just ended it with Jane loving herself and the “love story” being about family love and the three Villanueva women

Jane the Virgin is hands down my favorite TV show

The genuine and interesting female relationships were so wonderfully written and delightfully portrayed

The characters had such powerful arcs and their growth made me feel all the feels T~T

There were impactful moments of vulnerability for all of them, they all felt so human

Petra and Xo are my favorites, they really grew on me ♡

Not going to lie, at times Jane got on my nerves, but I related a lot to many aspects of her growth and honestly I loved how the show explored her journey and handled her development :)

Also I really loved the transitions between scenes (the way they were connected by overlapping dialogues + reactions-- ugh, so funny and added so much to the tone)

The show was so self-aware the entire time, it was so refreshing to see. The narration was so entertaining, too -- when I found out it was MATEO !!!

The Michael-Jane-Rafael love triangle was honestly probably the best love triangle I've ever seen. I'm TeamMichael ALL the way, but depending on what episode I'm rewatching I really feel for both relationships.

I was so heartbroken about Michael's arc T_T, I was dreading it the entire time (I accidentally spoiled it for myself, whoops)

The other day I rewatched the episode (Chapter 84) where Michael regained his memory and the tears just started streaming 😭

I honestly wasn't a huge fan of how Rafael's relationship with Jane developed, but they ended on a very sweet note

Will be rewatching this show forever 💗
