ofc, relationships aren't always perfect and especially when dealing with rin, someone who has quite a fair bit of trauma from being abandoned and left behind, it only worsens the tension.

he's pretending like you don't exist which is fine by you, you know he'll cave eventually. so, you slide a cup of water and the bowl of popcorn to him and settle in, pressing 'play'.

around 15 minutes in or so, you're too engrossed in the movie to hear rin's quiet shuffling, and how he's now crossed the distance to sit next to you. his hand comes up to your shoulder to get your attention and when he has it, rin's quick to manoeuvre you so that you were now lying down on the couch.

he then plops down, wrapping his arms around you and resting his head on your chest.

"i'm sorry," whispers the striker. such simple words with such heavy meaning, especially coming from him.

you know he wants to say more, but you know better than he can't get it out, so, you begin threading your fingers through his hair, just how he likes it. rin softens completely against you.

"it's okay," you reassure.

"you're too good for me."

the next morning there's a bouquet of flowers and dessert from your favourite bakery on the kitchen counter.

rin wakes up at a reasonable hour. he likes to start off his days between 8 to 9 am, with 9-10 hours of sleep.

your sleep cycle has been synced with his because he hates sleeping without you beside him.

unless you have a good reason to push back sleep, he will not stand for it. stop depriving yourself of sleep and give your body the rest it deserves!!!!!

has a set night routine with you.

The whole situation in Wano settled down. With Kaido being defeated by Luffy, and his subordinates being captured and thrown into prison. Wano had become the prosperous kingdom it was before the tragedy. Everyone is allowed to enjoy their day without being restricted by any rules implemented during Kaido's ruling. So here you are with Hiyori and Yamato wandering around the capital to pass the time. As you are walking, you couldn't help but remember the moment you came across King, the subordinate of Kaido. Thinking back on how your ring finger had tingled right when you saw him. You felt weird thinking back about it as you recalled your grandma's story about the red string of fate which will be experienced by two soulmates. You laughed at the thought, there was no way your soulmate was going to be King. As a matter of fact, it will be impossible considering you're a Straw Hat member thus, such relationship with King will only cause dispute to arise.

Being pulled back into reality, you noticed a man spying on you from one of the alleyways. You grabbed tightly onto your knives, while ensuring not to alert Hiyori and Yamato so as to not cause panic. You dismissed yourself from them and cautiously followed the man. Upon realizing your presence, the man seems to quicken his step and ran into a secluded garden. You almost didn't get to catch up to his pace but thanks to your knives, you were able to halt his movement. The man stopped running due to shock after your knives were thrown to the ground blocking his way. You looked closely and that's when you saw him. King. The man in front of you. "Why...why are you still here? I thought all of you had been taken to the prison?", you asked nervously. "I got lucky and fled myself before they could catch me," King looked to the ground. "Why are you spying on us? Are you trying to hurt Hiyori-san?", you suspected him of having ill-intention towards Hiyori considering his brother is now the new ruler of Wano. "Silly, it's not because of that...," he retorted, "It is you I was spying on." You were about to attack him when he suddenly grabbed your hand. "Don't you... don't you feel the presence of the red string of fate on your ring finger the first time we met?", he looked you in the eye. Hoping to get the expected response from you.

"Now that I think of it.. I did feel a tingling sensation there. Regardless, why would you wanna know about it?", you still in a state of alertness, preparing for his next move. He sighed and engulfed you in a comforting hug. Then and there he spilled about the story of the red string of fate, and how he witnessed it with his own eyes upon meeting you for the first time. You don't know why, but listening to his confession made you want to believe his words. Truth be told, after some consideration, you do wanna get to know him more. If he indeed was your soulmate. However, realizing the situation going on in Wano right now, you were unsure whether introducing him to the Straw Hats would be a good decision. You sighed and decided to give him a chance, reminding him that you only have 2 days left before leaving Wano.

On the first day,

King and you met at the same garden as before. King reasoned that it is best to get to know each other in a peaceful environment like this. You could still feel the awkwardness going on between you and King. It was understandable though, considering he was your enemy during the battle in Onigashima. Thus, the tension may still be there between you two.

Despite that, King tried to break the tension by asking you questions about yourself; wanting to get to know you better. Not only that, but he also shared some details about himself, such as how particular he is about certain foods. And his favorite things to do in his free time. By the end of the day-one, both of you had known pretty much everything about one another. You could say that you enjoyed spending time with him. Though it was boring at first, but you managed to find an activity or two to enjoy together; fishing at the nearby lake and painting.

On the second day,

You couldn't help but feel excited while getting ready. Opting from a Kimono to a midi sundress.

King was waiting at the same garden, seating on a bench. He turned his gaze towards his right upon feeling someone walking closer to him. He was astonished after looking at you; 'how beautiful,' he thought. You cleared your throat after feeling his intense gaze on you too long for your comfort, you walked closer to him and interlocking your fingers with his; leading him to the next destination while your face displayed the obvious blush.

Now here you are at the capital, enjoying the lively environment there. In which, Wano citizens are still celebrating to welcome their beloved ruler from the Kozuki clan. Thus, there are still many booths in the capital; selling a variety of foods and promoting fun games there. You could sense King becoming a little bit jittery, and realizing this made you come closer to him and whispering comforting words like, "Calm down, they won't notice as long as you keep the mask on," and "It's okay, I'm here so no one will be suspicious of you." Hearing your words really works wonders on his racing heart, he was thankful that you didn't blow his cover and just comforted him as well as you could.

With him feeling less anxious, you just smiled at him and guided him through the booths. Enjoying the plethora of foods and games there. Laughing to your heart's content, forgetting about the worries both of you had just experienced.

By the end of the day, both of you shared a kiss under the firework's display. With people all around you cheering joyfully.

Packing your belongings, you were getting ready to sail back to the sea with the Straw Hats after having been in Wano for quite a while. You were walking to the ship to assist the crew with the boxes and stuff. Once finished and about to return to the castle, you heard Luffy calling out your name, "Y/N, wait." You don't know why but you could feel your heart running miles, feeling nervous for some reason. "I know you have been seeing someone for the past 2 days," Luffy said while looking at the sea. You suddenly felt tears streaming down your cheeks, while profusely apologizing and promising to not do such thing again. You stopped upon hearing Luffy's laugh, "Why are you sorry? I didn't say I want to reprimand you for that. I just want to make sure whether you are serious with him or not."

You couldn't believe yourself whether you hadn't really been hearing things. You looked at Luffy in disbelief, "Are you for real, Luffy?" Luffy just smiled and came closer to pat your shoulders, "Yes I am. Thus, I'm giving you options whether you want to stay in Wano with him. Or you want to continue your journey with us but leave him behind without knowing what will happen to him due to the isolated area of Wano."

Ok, so the summary of today's day (it's fun, you know I'm a writer, so I can make it fun):

Before the concert+the concert

I went out. It didn't rain. I got to the city centre and it was raining like hell, but of course I didn't have an umbrella... I had my leather jacket though. Leather jackets are useful, because you can take them off and cover your hair and they don't get wet. But when I got there, it stopped raining, yay! Lucky me 😆

I got there maybe an hour before the doors? I would get an usual spot at the barrier on the side, but a girl was keeping it for her friend, so I let them have it and went to the middle. It was scary at first, because I never know what my happen and it's hard for me to stand for too long (which everyone knows, because I talk about it here a lot), but as usual the BC fandom here is very chill and most people were super nice and friendly and polite to each other, it's one of the main reasons why I love their concerts so much 💖

Most of the time I didn't see much, but Joel and Joonas got many interactions, if I find videos of those, I'll let you know! I had Joel right in front of me almost all the time, I could see his red snoot and wet upper lip, and he hit his face with the chain all the damn time... this guy 😆. Honestly, I had more fun there, in the 3rd row, than at the barrier on the side. Maybe it's because I was close to Joel, dunno 🤣. But it was probably my best BC concert so far, because I finally managed to relax and my anxiety was on a very low level. It really makes a huge difference!

Oh, and of course I lost my hairband with a big red bow. All because of Ghostkid's vocalist! I was filming Dark Side and he got near the crowd, I had no idea he was going to jump into it, because I'm small, I barely can see what's going on with everyone around being so tall. So he knocked off my hairband and I managed to catch my classes on time 😭. But I did catch him somehow, I made sure he didn't fall. Also damn, this guy is so light! Even with my health issues I feel like I could carry him myself easily. Also I'm not super sad about the hairband, if someone found it they can keep it, it's just a funny story 😂. If I lost my glasses, THEN I'd be upset. Because glasses are expensive. Btw I literally have it on video, I have proof! It's the funniest part of it 🤣

We also got another "kurwa bob" moment and Niko got a flower crown in the colors of the Polish flag! I even managed to take a quick photo (as I said, my camera is shite):

Meeting the band after the concert

I wasn't sure if it was worth to wait for them. It was still a bit rainy and the last day bus was leaving in 30min (night buses arrive only every 30min, so it's a pain in the ass). Most people have left, there weren't many of us left, maybe ~20 people waited? But I thought I don't get to see them live that often, so what the hell, I'll wait.

There were staff members and guys from the supporting bands walking around freely (everyone is always polite and we let them work in peace, it's why I love the fans here, they don't chase anyone away 💖), even Olli just walked around unbothered (I think only I noticed him at that time tbh, but I ain't a snitch hehe).

Tommi and Aleksi just went to the bus and it's understandable. Tommi is just Tommi and Aleksi was sick. All of the other guys actually stayed with us to talk and I've never had such a long interaction with them before! I feel even luckier and I'm so happy that I stayed 😍

I think everyone knows Joel is sick, so we didn't want to bug him too much. He was nice enough to let us take some photos and let us give him hugs, and he was pretty much braindead 😂. But it's understandable, he's usually braindead and he's also sick, so it's worse. I'm happy I could give him a proper hug this time, because the first time I met him I was too scared for one. The 2nd time I asked for one and patted his shoulder nervously. But this time? I just hugged him with no fear! I'm making progress here 💖

Niko is always the most friendly one, so we had a chat with him and he asked what does kurwa mean (really dude? you have no google in your phone?) and I told him it's like vittu, other people added more information, and I said he should google it, he'll find funny things. Niko, please. Just google it, dude 😂.

I also hugged him and he has a really soft coat, which other girls pointed out and he joked he's wearing nothing underneath, because he's Finnish and isn't cold (a deja vu moment, because there was exactly the same situation in Poznań before: "Niko, aren't you cold?" "No, I'm Finnish"), so I also told him it used to be much colder here in general, because we did have very cold winters before. It's always fun talking to Niko 💖

The next one was Olli, but I'm leaving Olli for the last part of the story, because it's the best. Now, I did hug Joonas and got a photo with him, but my brain is totally blank if we actually did talk to him. I think not really? Uh, dunno 😂. But it was a positive interaction as well 💖

Now, Olli. Everyone knows I just couldn't like the guy because of his crazy stans, so I was "meh" about him, but actually meeting him properly just changed my mind. He's really easy to talk to! But I really didn't think I'd manage to come up with an interesting topic, I usually have nothing to say and I'm horrible at asking questions.

My brain decided to ask him about Silent Library. It basically went like:

Me: "So I watched this show, Silent Library Suomi, and you were getting all these red cards. Was it done like that on purpose, or was it just a coincidence?

Olli (grinning): "it's called back luck"

Now, if you watched their vlogs and he had those funny moments with puns everyone loved, IT WAS LIKE ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS. But I don't have it on the camera (which is ok, I did that just for myself).

He explained it really was accidental and no one was plotting against him (I did joke that Joel maybe did 😂). I think he enjoyed talking about it, because I doubt anyone would get an idea to ask him about this show (though I might be wrong).

So here you go, it's called bad luck. That's it. I got the info from the man himself 😂

But, there's more. The girl who was taking photos of us had a malfunctioning phone and accidentally took a photo of his feet and he was wearing flip flops (she did show it to him too lmao). I'll share it as soon as I get it. Also she came up with a joke that I already told her I'm going to steal:

hiiii, so youtube randomly recommended me a scotty james interview and since i was bored as fuck i actually watched it and let met tell you, this thing was full of lance lore. first of all, lance and scotty met at the urinals at the melbourne gp, like what???? 😂 and scotty recognised him instantly but didn't think lance would recognise him and didn't say anything but lance went like "oh, scotty james." whilst they were both peeing and i'm just.... lance let the boy pee in peace... 😂 and apparently after that one conversation most of which took place at a literal fucking urinal lance called up his sister and her that he had found her future husband... lance my boy, just what did you see at the urinal?? 🙃 but it worked out and now they have an inside joke everytime they're at the melbourne gp about how they should go for their piss together and i'm just like.... don't tell me these people are adults... they're literally still just children 🙃 the interviewers also asked him about dts and what the show might have missed when it comes to lance and scotty said that he's very happy go lucky and funny but also that he feels for lance in that he (and some of the other drivers) feel the need to protect themselves from people and the media because they will rip you apart for anything and as such we might not get to see their full selves as a consequence which... fully understandable.... Two weeks later, the second term is finally here. Back to procrastination and late nights of doing homework, You were reluctant to go but your mom insisted that "it was for your future" as they all do, you were however, excited to see your friends. They made your school life a bit more easier with the chaos they brought, you still thought about the boy you met in the rain the other day. How crazy would it be if you met him again! But that would never happen... right? Anyways, time was ticking and much more thinking would make you late for school. You quickly finished your breakfast and dashed out the door, yelling "Bye!" on your way out.

As you skipped along the way you bumped into someone, your bestfriend, Aoi. You both talked on and on about the short vacation you were given. "Oh, by the way, something interesting happened two weeks ago," you started off.

"Really? Well don't be shy, go on!!" Aoi certainly seemed interested in the tea that was about to spill.

"Well... it may or may not have something to do with a boy-"

Your speech was interrupted by her exclamation, "WHAT?! YOU? Y/N? WITH A BOY? I refuse to believe it." She knew how you were, most of the time you didn't pay any mind to boys around you but now here you were, bringing up one in the conversation. She had every right to be shocked.

"Well, if you'd let me finish you'd understand!" And so as you two walked to school, you told her about the encounter and how you both chatted and walked in the rain. "My.. and you waited until now to tell me?? WE BOTH HAVE PHONES Y'KNOW? THIS IS DELAYED INFO." Aoi was only joking but her sudden yelling made you jump, "I apologize, my dear best friend, please do not kill me..!" You both laughed at your response and entered the school gate, making your way to your classroom, it seemed like Nezuko and Kanao had already arrived earlier as they waved you over. "Guess what?" Aoi started, she obviously was not gonna gatekeep the tea that was spilled, Nezuko spoke up, "What is it? You don't normally look this excited so my guess is that this is good news..?"

You spoke up, "I walked in the rain with a good-looking boy, no biggie." Nezuko gave you a deathstare, "No biggie? NO BIGGIE?! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT YOU JUST SAID?!" You slowly nodded, "Y e s...?"

Just as the two were about to rant on, your teacher entered the classroom. You all scrambled to your seats, but as you sit down next to Aoi, you see a strange, familiar person enter after your teacher.

"I wonder who that is.." Aoi whispered to you. Just then another similar person entered, in fact the two looked like printed copies of each other, "I think I'm seeing doubles.." You whispered back. Aoi only nodded in silence as the four of you stare on. Even after they said their names, Muichiro and Yuichiro, you still couldn't tell the two apart, then it struck you, one out of two them was the boy who walked with you in the rain. "Aoi..." You started as she turned to you, "I think one of them walked in the rain with me.."  Her eyes widened, "WHA..?!" You had to cover her mouth so the entire class wouldn't be aware of your conversation.

"Yes, it was definitely one of them." You continued in a positive tone. "You lucky rat.." Aoi hissed, as you giggled at the comment, just as you were about to speak you saw the two print copies sit down behind you. It took every single muscle in you and Aoi's bodies to not turn around and stare at their beauty. Class soon finished and one of the two got up and left for break as the other sat there silently. You and Aoi got up to leave but he grabbed your hand, motioning he wanted to talk to you. Your friends watched on, giving you either teasing looks or a smirk but decided leave the two of you alone.

"You.." He started, "You look familiar.." You watched him and said with a laugh, "Don't you remember? We walked in the rain together!" He nodded, finally understanding. "I see..." You continued, "By the way, is that your twin brother? Also which one are you? Muichiro? Or Yuichiro?" He only shook his head and replied, "We're a twin if that wasn't obvious, and I'm Muichiro." You sighed, finally understanding now, "Ahh, okay! I'm Y/n!" You held your hand out to shake and he received it, "I didn't know you would move to this school! Is that why you were in town last week? Getting stuff?"

Muichiro only nodded. And for the rest of your questions, he either nodded or shook his head. Even though this was your first day back at school, you felt that this would be quite the interesting school term!

But as hour after hour passed he started to stare at his phone, eyes trained on the dark screen just waiting for it to light up. Every notification a false alarm deepening the growing worry he had about you.

Your phone had buzzed off the hook the entire time, one message after another telling the story of a panicked boyfriend who was ready to come to your rescue. The opening of the downstairs door pierced the silence that filled the air, the episode of ‘Scooby Doo’ playing in the background in between episodes. 

Corey was busy downstairs making you a hot drink with your favorite assortment of treats on a tray that he had grabbed from the ‘Quickie Go’ down the block that had new employees every other week so it didn’t matter if he frequented it or not. You both went there a lot for movie night snacks or just late night fun. But today he had to go alone but he didn’t mind doing it for you. He just wanted to be there for you in every way that he possibly could. 

A few minutes later the stairs started to creak softly as he started up them, carrying everything in his arms trying not to fall backwards because he had not only grabbed treats but had grabbed another stuffed animal to add to your alarmingly growing collection that had inhabited your bed currently. 

“Ruh-roh, I can’t even find you in this stuffed animal ocean.” Corey teased, placing the snack tray on your bedside table before taking off his shoes to climb into bed with you, finding you huddled beneath he wraps his arms around you and pulls you closer into him. You welcomed the touch, knowing he was trying his best. That was just the thing, your boyfriend always did his best to cheer you up. It’s because he knew all too well what if felt like to be alone in this, to feel like no one cared how you felt or what you felt. No one to validate his feelings. It was like he made it his mission to make sure you knew he was there for you, that he would do anything under the sun to make sure you were taken care of in every aspect of your health not just physical. 

After a few minutes of just existing together, you crane your neck to peer over at him with a small tired smile pushing its way onto your lips. “Thank you, Core. You really didn’t have to...I’m sorry that I didn’t respond...” You could barely muster more than a whisper before those big brown eyes met yours with a silent plea. 

“Please don’t apologize, sweetheart. You don’t owe me anything, I understand. I’m here for you so take your time we can literally stay here all day it doesn’t matter to me.” He leaned down, pressing a kiss against your forehead before placing one on your lips. “Whenever you’re ready I found you another squish marshmallow thingie at the Quickie Go. He’s like a keychain so I bought us matching ones, I figured we could use something practical.” Hearing that made you laugh, shaking your head at his goofy demeanor. He meant the world to you, this meant the world to you—how did you get so lucky?

You always wondered this but Corey was there always to remind you that he too was lucky to have you and always would be.

about the story: tbh i've been suffering with writer's block for the past few months, which is why i didn't start the story earlier 😭 but now i've come to a realization that i really want to write something, and i'll only feel more stuck if i don't write at all - so i started putting some words on a page and that was it! my writer's block was done for! i have a little sneak peak for you too!!

You walked out the room, shutting the door quietly behind you, only to meet a familiar pair of eyes at the far end of the hallway. Scaramouche... He was dressed in more casual garb than the day before, yet his wide hat still sat atop his head. Three soldiers knelt before him, the apparent victims of his anger that morning. His arms were folded across his chest menacingly, and his beautiful features were twisted into a tight frown. In the light, you could make out thin, purple strands that were nested among his deep blue hair, a detail you hadn't noticed during the inauguration ceremony.

it's not a lot, but i didn't want to spoil too much 😭 i'm thinking of just writing, and debuting the first few chapters on scara's important days! like the first chapter will be released on his character teaser, second for his demo, etc. lmk what you think about that!

Of course! I’ll do my best to keep that in mind. I do agree though, most of the time it feels quite lonely in tumblr. I try to socialize with people once In a while but they never seem to get in touch. It’s understandable though, they have a life to live at the fullest!

But no rush when writing about the story! Take your time and even take breaks when you’re facing writers block. It’s a huge pain to deal with, I can relate to not gaining any motivation or feel like there’s a flaw in my writing. My ideas just…die out in the process of making them y’know? EITHER WAY YOUR STORY IS GOING GREAT! I’m really excited to see what’s in store for the future. Though, I can see where you’re coming from and I think it’s a good idea to release the first chapter and so on in days like those! Might make him feel special. 🤝

Yeah! I draw, however I only make sketches on my notebook since I don’t have enough money to purchase anything to draw digitally. More importantly I’d go insane if it were traditional art. There’s just too many hours to work on something and they get ruined by a margin. Not only that but I get art block 24/7. I used to have a side account for my art but I deleted it ever since, just felt like it wasn’t necessary or my drawings were plain and boring. But I’m glad you’re doing great drawing digitally! You should share some of your art with me sometime. <3

Aw, that’s a shame though. Many of my comrades/acquaintances either don’t play Genshin anymore, or just play in a different server. when you caught a cakehound wandering into the kingdom for the first time, you weren't surprised. it was natural for all sorts of beasts to have found their way into the cookie kingdom that gingerbrave built - after all, you had to clear lands infested with beasts in order to expand the kingdom.

what made you surprised was that the cakehound kept coming back, as if it had some sort of mission to accomplish. in fact, it made you worried every time this cakehound came in to the kingdom. the cakehound was lucky to have met you when it wandered in, for should other cookies have caught it coming in, they wouldn't treat it as kindly as you did.

you bit your lip, staring at the clueless cakehound that had secretly entered your kingdom again. it was as though it had no sense of danger. if it were espresso, rye, or god forbid cherry - who saw the cakehound, you were worried it would...

sighing, you picked the cakehound up in your arms, and carried it out of your kingdom for the seventh time this month. as you put it down on the ground, around a hundred metres away from the cookie kingdom, you whispered to the joyful being, "stay here, alright? don't come back, or you'll get hurt."

you sighed again, patting its head, letting out a small smile when it made a cute smile. "you guys are so adorable. it's hard to attack you guys, especially since you've technically done nothing wrong to us, but we have to expand the kingdom and find the other ancients. you understand, don't you, little one?" as if it understood what you said, it rubbed its head against your palm, making you giggle.

"chiffon! chiffon, where are you?" just then, a distinguishable voice boomed throughout the forest you and the cakehound were in. said cakehound turned at the sound of the voice and excitedly ran towards it, leaving you frantically chasing after it, afraid that it would run into more trouble.

you were slightly astonished to see the cakehound run up to a red cookie with a large cake arm, because you had initially thought that it was a wild cakehound.

"chiffon! oh, chiffon, there you are. i've been looking everywhere for you!" the cookie allowed chiffon to jump into his arms, and the cakehound - whose name was chiffon, you realised - happily licked its master's face, causing the cookie to laugh and fall to the ground. seeing chiffon reunite with its master was a delightful sight, almost too delightful that you were a little guilty to have interrupted their moment.

"ahem," you said meekly. the cookie's smile dropped, and turned to you, finally acknowledging your presence.

"you," his voice was now different than the one he used to talk to his pet cakehound. it was scary, a less-friendly version usually used to address strangers and enemies. with every word he said, it sent shivers down your spine, and you did not like it one bit. "who are you? what are you doing here in the woods?"

"your pet cakehound, um, chiffon, i caught it wondering in my kingdom, so it tried to send it out, because i was afraid that it would get hurt." you fumbled over your words in the presence of the intimidating cookie.

luckily for you, all he gave you was a long stare before gruffly turning away. "thank you for doing that. chiffon goes missing every now and then, which greatly worries me." he turns back to you swiftly, nearly making you jump out of your skin. "you should go back. this forest is filled with unforgiving, restless beasts who are not afraid to devour any cookie within seconds. it's not safe here."

"you should head back too. can't have you and chiffon getting hurt either," you reply stupidly, before slapping a hand over your mouth. you fool! why did you say that to some big, scary cookie who looks like he could take you out in two seconds-

to your surprise (and relief), he doesn't kill you, fortunately. he smirks at your response and nods. "thank you for your concern, but i don't need it. i'm more than capable of defending myself. you, however, look rather fragile."

"oh". you mutter blankly.

ignoring your one-word reply, he continues, "my name is red velvet cookie. it's a pleasure to meet you. i hope that we will have chances to meet again in the future."

you were dumbfounded. but before you could say anything else, red velvet cookie had already headed off with chiffon, leaving you all alone.

since there wasn't anything else for you to do, you decided to just head back, reflecting on your brief interaction with red velvet cookie. his features were distinguishable, and his aura was... unique. that face was unforgettable, and so was that voice.

i too, hope to meet you again the future soon, red velvet cookie. you smiled as you walked back to the kingdom. strangely enough, there were a lot less beasts to interrupt your return, as though they had been asked to clear the way for you by their master.

absolutely dying about this article about the Panthers that reads like a Huberdeau/Barkov ship manifesto!!!

SUNRISE, Fla. — Through broken English, a bond was emerging.

In the span of a week, Aleksander Barkov had gone from being in Newark, N.J. for the 2013 NHL Draft — where he was ushered in as the next big thing, having been taken with the No. 2 pick by the Florida Panthers — to flying back home to Finland before embarking on his maiden trip to South Florida.

This is when Barkov met Jonathan Huberdeau for the first time. It’s been almost a decade, but Barkov still smiles when reliving their initial encounter. Meeting Huberdeau, who had just won the Calder Memorial Trophy, was a big deal for someone who was about to follow in his footsteps.

“I didn’t speak English that well back then but I understood everything,” Barkov said. “All I could say was, ‘Hey, how are you?’ and ‘Congrats on winning rookie of the year.’ That’s about it. I just remember him always being so nice to me, even since day one.”

Huberdeau felt the same way about Barkov.

“On the ice, we just understood each other so much and our chemistry was just built that way,” Huberdeau said. “We started talking a little bit more. I always like making fun of how we would go out on the ice, come back to the bench and didn’t understand each other. We spoke English, but it was broken English to each other. But there were some times when we said, ‘Whatever, we don’t need to understand,’ because we had chemistry on the ice and we didn’t really need to talk.'”

That said, however, he considers himself to be “lucky” and “honored” that he gets to stay with the team that drafted him and Huberdeau for a long time.

Especially when the conversation shifts to his relationship with Huberdeau.

“I’m so lucky that I get to be around him. It makes me feel right,” Barkov said. “I think that’s the main thing. That’s how I feel around him and seeing him in the locker room. It’s tough to explain. We got to know each other. I know his family, who is in his family, where he lives and stuff like that. We speak during the summers, too. But it’s really been hanging out and spending time with him, too.”
