sos descendants fans, I’ve made a live action fan cast collection for wicked world & isle of the lost characters, but for each Ruby Fitzherbert (wicked world) and Mad Maddy (isle of the lost books) I’m torn between two faces — would anyone be down to help me decide?

so far I have CJ Hook, Harriet Hook, Anthony Tremaine, Gaston Jr, Gaston the Third, Diego De Vil, Zevon, Freddie Facilier, Jordan, Harry Badun, Jace Badun, Jade, Clay Clayton, Rick Ratcliffe, Ginny Gothel, and Yzla, but if I’m missing anyone lmk so that I can expand this!

Okay okay hear me out. Hades was the isle’s unofficial babysitter for magically gifted children. He isn’t actually Mal’s father, he just used to look after her. 

And Evie. And Uma. And Freddie. And Celia. And Zevon. And Yzla. And Maddie. And logically Hadie. 

They’re all fluent in greek, know greek mythology by heart, hate Zeus, and consider him their dad.

Here's another glimpse into the Badun Detective Agency.

Badun Detective Agency: Death Report.

Name of Detective: Yzla Sorcerer.

Age of Detective: 17 years old.

Date of Report: January 6th, 2017.

Name of the deceased: Lil' Yaz.

Age of the deceased: 19 years old.

File number: 0210.

Report: The Desceased (19, Male. Child of Yzma) appears to have died from an untreated and unexpected case of something called 'Apendictist'.

The Desceased reported feeling an unexplainable sharp pain in his chest two days before he passed-- On Today, January 6th, 2017.

The pain reliever his mother, Yzma gave him didn't appear to do anything to alivate the pain.

He was able to keep anything down and was running a fever, so his mother sent him to bed to rest.

His condition only continued to deteriorate until he was found without a pulse at 5 am by his mother.

His family wasn't able to revive him and none of the medics on the isle nor Yen Sid were able to either.

His employer and friends have been notified.

A death certificate is being issued and no foul play can be detected so he will be put to rest via pyre at the end of the week.

in front of them, there was a beaming boy around nineteen with tan skin, dark eyes, and short, curly purple hair that was partly hidden under a golden hat that matched the golden jacket and purple v-neck he was wearing.

One of his arms was draped over as scowling boy in black. his hair was short and black with a faint blue stripe, and the same dark eyes as the first. Looking like he'd rather be anywhere else.

and the other was draped over the last person in the picture. A girl with

thick black hair that was up in an uneven ponytail and dark soft eyes. She wore a magenta off shoulder shirt and had light, almost lavender skin. She was rolling her eyes to the side, but still smiling.

Written at the bottom of the photo were the names 'Lil' Yaz, Yzla, Zam, Zevon, and Zim. January 1st, 2017.']

Yzla chronicling the death of her own older brother.....that's so sad...

Now, this isn't an investigation. Yaz's death isn't a mystery. He wasn't murdered. She knows how he died: of illness. But she doesn't know exactly what illness.

This is the equivalent of an autopsy. But she's not going to cut open her own brother to look for the cause of his death. She doesn't know how to, she doesn't know what to look for. She's not a doctor. And they don't have proper doctors on the Isle. So all she can do is chronicle his symptoms and put the paper with all the other files.

And the photograph....it's not just an impersonal file, written by someone who's seen too much and is jaded, not just clerical paperwork. The writer is a human. The person who died is also a human. Real live people with a real live family who loved each other...until one died, leaving the other to write down what had happened. With the picture in the file, as a reminder to Yzla, a remembrance of her brother.

Do you think that CJ, Zevon, and Freddie are all friends?

The impression I got was that CJ and Freddie were basically each other's only friends. Then they went to Auradon, and Freddie decided to act like an AK so she wouldn't be sent back to the Isle, and CJ decided to kidnap Ben, and later showed up with Zevon in an attempt to take over Auradon. Was CJ's partnership with Zevon a recent alliance? Or were all three of them friends on the Isle, and then Freddie and CJ got taken to Auradon (accidentally, to be fair) leaving Zevon behind? Or was CJ friends with Zevon and Freddie but they weren't friends with each other? Didn't Freddie say something about how Zevon's name sounds like a brand of laundry detergent?

You know, this could have so much potential. Like imagine Zevon, wandering the Isle, upset that his only two friends have disappeared and having no idea where they are, and later finding out that they are in Auradon and being even more upset but in a different way, that they left him behind. Or maybe Freddie being upset that CJ replaced her with Zevon as her only friend. Hey, the three of them are some of the only characters with siblings! Imagine what Yzla, Celia, Harriet and Harry think of all this!

I do indeed think that the three of them were all friends. And that the 3 of them might have been pretty good friends with Yzla before she decided that she'd prefer to be a hero and a detective. Though I get the impression that Cj-- of course-- was closer to Zevon that Freddie was. Like, Freddie and Zevon are both less impulsive than Cj is and alot more snarky with eachother than Cj is with Zevon. If that makes sense. I get the feeling that the four of them use to be an unbreakable quartet before Yzla decided that being a hero was a better option than just being what everyone on the isle wanted them to be, if that makes.

And while Harry thinks Kidnapping Ben was brilliant, Harriet and Yzla did not. And niether did Zevon's brother, Lil Yaz, or Yzma. And Celia was livid that she was left behind. Which is fair. Hope that answers your question.

The history of the Overgrowth has always been a messy one.

As they were growing their influence, there would be deals made to other factions or possessions that would be temporarily sold. And in the beginning, they didn't even have a good way to test their products.

This all, of course, fell onto Maddy before stretching to the younger cousins until the Overgrowth finally acquired workers who fulfilled these purposes.

updated witches guild lore! first of all they are no longer called the witches guild because it’s a boring name. they are now called the deviltry, which means reckless mischief, witchcraft, wickedness. they do a few things:

- they run the arcade and dragon hall (facilier backs them) and also probably the witch academy to some extent. they are powerful.

- they control magic deals. people will come to them for help, and if they can make a good bargain, they’ll help. they’ll only screw people over if they’re particularly awful by isle standards. usually, it’s a facilier and magnus making the deal.

- magic training. i personally think a good amount of magic is available on the isle, but even if it’s only a little, people are going to learn and train. they have the most magical info, largest range of magical abilities on the isle due to numbers. safe is subjective on the isle and around magic but it’s at least good training.

- they keep the ultra powerful demon villains like chernbog, zhan tiri, and chatana in check through whatever means possible. outright fighting, strict deals. whatever. this can also act as protecting specific people from them, as plenty of the more magical villains try to build armies to get revenge on auradon and not everyone wants that (this is actually why the gang was founded, but explaining that more is mim lore saved for a fic)

- they terrorize frollo. sometimes they outright fight his men, sometimes they help claudine, sometimes they trash the church. sometimes they help cj and/or ivy burn it down.

as they control a good amount of land, they have a good amount of people under their protection/control, but official members who carry out duties include:

- magnus mim (leader, oldest mim grandkid, founded the gang)

- maddy mim (second in command, magnus’s younger sister)

- freddie facilier (third in command)

- celia facilier

- yzla

- iduna (elsa’s daughter)

- marya rasputin (and maybe one of her sisters before she died if I have my timeline right)

- zevon

- cj hook (honorary member, but she hangs around often enough she might as well be a member)

their main backers are facilier, elsa, and yzma when she decides she knows english. their closest allies are the lost revenge and hallow’s eve (a gang made up of the halloween town citizens) due to the faciliers and mims having family in each respective gang. through the lost revenge, they have an alliance with the sovereign dread. they’re willing to make alliances with other gangs, if they can make a good enough deal. they’re most reluctant to ally with mal’s gang since she and the mims hate each other, but sometimes her help is needed.

also, the faciliers always rig the arcade games. magnus doesn’t, but no one believes him.

The Badun detective agency in the 1920 mafia AU

There is a child at Jace's doorstep.

A fucking child, looking up at him with wide innocent eyes, like a fucking cherub. His hair a wild mess flung around by the chilly wind, and their ends were dyed blue.

(Who on earth lets a child dye its hair?)

Jace slowly blinks and looks down again: the boy is still here. Well.

„What do you want, kid?“ he asks, hoping that the child might want, well, directions back to his parents? That would be nice?

„My mom has three disembodied corpses in her basement,“ the boy states blankly, a picture of perfect innocence. His eyes are suddenly mildly unnerving, and it takes Jace's brain a moment to catch up on him.

„…What the fuck?“ he mutters more for himself than for the child, who takes it as an encouragement to repeat its words anyway.

So Jace draws a sharp breath and yells down the hall at his cousin: „Harry! Come here this instant! And bring your gun!“

You know, just in case-

Harry Badun runs to the door in truly record speed, the weapon safely pointed down. He looks disappointed when he sees only a child.

„Tell him what you told me,“ Jace sights towards the visitor.

„My mom has three disembodied corpses in her basement. They talk to me when I sleep.“

Ok. 

That is a new info.

This is cool. Totally cool.

Harry tightens his grip on the weapon and looks around the street, then up the roofs, which, you know, always a good idea.

They are clear, though. It doesn't look as if anyone is gonna jump them, much less some psychotic woman. Those don't tend to be too quiet, and the Badun cousins would know.

Oh, and by the way. That silhouette against that balustrade over there? That is totally Reza. Snogging Jade. Harry owes Jace for this one. 

Anyway. Right, the corpses.

„Come on, kid,“ he says, „Go inside and then tell us what you know, yeah?“

The kid's eyes shine as he steps inside and exclaims: „Do I get to be a detective too? I have always wanted to be a detective! I would be an awesome detective, since I know how do bodies look how long after death already!“

This is not a worrying statement at all. Not at all.

A shadow peels off the wall. Hermie. She was listening the whole time, of course she was.

„Dead bodies?“

„What exactly do you mean?!“

The kid answers and Jace bites back the irrational need to scream his lungs out. A vein at his temple pulses as the kid starts describing a rotting corpse with freakish accuracy to way too interested Hermie.

„Quiet! I need to concentrate!“ shouts Yzla from upstairs, „This is a delicate process!“

„Stop painting your pretty pictures for a moment,“ shouts Harry back, „This is a bloody murder case!“

„I'm trying to recreate Renoir here, you ignorant simpleton-“

„A what?“

Yzla screams incoherently and Jace interrupts the argument before it can truly begin: 

„We also have a kid that might be in danger and knows absolutely too much.“

„…I'm coming. But if the paint dries and I won't be able to get back to it, it will be all your fault.“

Jace doesn't even acknowledge that as worthy of an answer.

„Jace?“ Hermie nudges him slightly, while the kid infodumps at slightly traumatized-looking Harry about the different types of gunshot wounds, „Should I get Reza too?“

„…Nah,“ decides Jace, „He is snogging Jade right now, and we wouldn't want to interrupt.“

Hermie nods curtly and turns over to Harry: „You owe me and Yzla a bottle of cognac,“ she says, and Jace whistles. His cousin is losing in the big, today.

The kid tugs at his sleeve: „So what about my mom's basement, Mr Detective?“ the kid asks and he really should ask who his mom is. Also, what is his name?

So he asks, and when the child answers, looking at him with impossibly wide eyes, he almost gets an aneurysm.

„I'm detective Hadie, sir,“ the child reports proudly. Harry and Hermie just shrug – they don't know what is happening either. Nor does Yzla, who just appeared at the top of the stairs, wearing nothing but a negligee, and didn't she say she was working?

Oh, well.

Jace clears his throat.

„Right, kid. Hadie. And who is your mother?“

„But you are detectives!“ the child protests, „You gotta know that, no?“

„…Sure. We know that. Absolutely. And the bodies? Wait, no,“ Jace catches himself. This will certainly be a conversation, so:

„Let's go to the saloon first, shall we?“

Even if the saloon is just a fancy name for a room with a dining table and the kitchen counter, as he and Harry can hardly afford anything else.

They do have enough chairs, though, even if they are rarely used and mostly ignored: Hermie sits on the table, swinging her legs idly in the air, and Yzla plops herself down Harry's lap, setting his weapon aside. Fucking menace, that girl.

Jace himself takes the chair next to them and the boy stays standing.

(If Reza wouldn't be too busy with his current hookup, he would just lean against the wall and try to look very cool and intimidating, and smoke his cigarettes. Jace could do with a cigarette himself. Or better yet, a drink. The cigarette smoke reminds himself and Harry a bit too much of Cruella.)

„Now, tell us what you know,“ Jace asks the kid and damn. That kid. Does not shut up. Ever.

By the first thirty minutes, Yzla gets up and opens a bottle of wine to pass around, not even bothering with the glasses.

By an hour, Hermie is playing with her favourite dagger a bit too much and Harry has reclaimed back his handgun.

By hour and half, Jace is very ready to bleach his brain, thank you very much.

Hadie slows for a moment and Jace immediately stops him: „I think that's quite enough for today, Hadie,“ he says, „Thank you. Would you just step behind that door real quick?“

The kid pouts at him.

„Ehm… Me and my detectives need to discuss the evidence you just presented to us. And decide the, ehm, next course of action.“

Hadie finally steps behind the door when all present adults – including Eddie, who showed up half-way through – point at them.

And there is not much of a discussion, not really.

„Tell me we are taking that kid to Uma,“ blurts out Yzla before he can even speak.

„We could keep him,“ propose Hermie and Harry at the same time, and, yeah, no. As if Harry didn’t know they are barely staying afloat as it is, never mind, you know, not remotely responsible enough to raise a child?

…Yeah, it says a lot when a child would be safer on the streets, under the protection of one of the wildest Auradon City gangs, than anywhere else.

„We are taking him to Uma,“ decides Jace, and Yzla sights in relief. Eddie motions for her to pass the wine.

„You can come back, kid!“ Jace raises his voice, „We have decided!“

„Yay!“ the tiny disaster runs back to the room, „Do I get to be a detective too? Will we solve the case of my mother’s basement? Track down the victims’ family?“

Actually…

Jace knows how to get the kid to cooperate and go to safety voluntarily now: He winks at his associates, as to signal the general „don’t question me, I’ve got this.“

„Sure we are, kid. But, you see, right now we are working on another serious case, and we need you to help us. Will you be our eyes on the streets, detective Hadie?“

„Yes! I will, Mr detective sir! When do I start?“

„As soon as we can get you to the location. Now, let’s not lose any more time: We will debrief you on the way.“

That will hopefully give Jace enough time to come up with decent backstory, so, yeah.

With a yawn, Yzla gets up and sets off to her atelier, also known as the attic, not bothering to say goodbye, and Harry sets off to find his metal boxer and emergency knife.

„Reza is gonna be so mad he missed this-“ Hermie giggles, „It’s gonna be so much fun!“

And then, the Badun detective agency escorts its newest member, or, more accurately, adoptee, to Uma.

They don’t have any idea how much trouble they are causing Uma in the long run.

The Overgrowth runs the forested area not already claimed by the Crimson Army. They don’t get many territory disputes due to their control over illicit substances and their willingness to cut off anyone who crosses them.

The Overgrowth, while not having that much power, is seen as a necessity. They are the only ones with the knowledge of how to cook drugs and make alcohol. If anyone seems to be gaining said knowledge, they either quickly forget, disappear, or join the Overgrowth itself.

i wanna know your opinion on yzma's son from the descendants cartoon

ASDFGKJFDG so i've never really seen the descendants cartoon (in fact, i've only ever watched the first descendants movie, but i do plan on watching at least the second one) but i know about zevon here because i have a friend who's into descendants and she told me about him after i asked her if yzma had any kids. so i also know about her daughter yzla from the book series. and uhh first of all the thought of yzma having high school aged kids makes me go insane 😭 like... i do think that yzma was a beautiful and charming woman in her youth and it's not entirely implausible to me that she could've had kids at one point but i would've thought that if it happened, it happened a loooooooong time ago. one time in emperor's new school kronk ordered her a cake with 200 candles on it which to be fair doesn't necessarily mean she's actually that old but STILL... how is she out there having a teenage son!? who tf is the man that chose to make a baby with her!? does she love zevon and treat him well?? because if she does then i know kuzco would be literally so mad if he found out yzma was actually capable of being a decent parental figure!

anyway i did read this guy's wiki page back when my friend told me about him and just now i watched all the episodes he appears in so i could get a better idea of what he's like. and honestly he's kind of funny. i like that he insists on saying shit like "kablooey" and "ba-bam" every time he throws out a potion, and the way he says things like "condescendinating" instead of condescending or "introducturate" instead of introduce literally reminds me of tigger. like from winnie the pooh. his design, though... look i know yzma is literally grayish-purple but she is also incan so i wish her son (and yzla as well) looked a little less white. i also wish they had done more with him because he has extremely little screentime (i did not realize until looking it up that this show had 3-minute episodes), but of course disney always does the emperor's new groove dirty 😔

Freddie Facilier, CJ Hook, and Zevon are the only group of VKs in which each of them canonically has siblings.

Freddie has a sister Celia. CJ has a sister Harriet and a brother Harry. Zevon has a sister Yzla.

Of the Core Four, Mal has a half brother Hadie (who wasn’t even originally her half brother, they only came up with her father’s identity later). Carlos and Jay each have a cousin, and it’s been theorized that Evie and Dizzy are half sisters through Hans, but cousins aren’t siblings, and it hasn’t been confirmed.

Of the Sea Three, Gil has two brothers, both named after their father, and Harry has two sisters, Harriet and CJ. Uma has no siblings. There are sea witches mentioned in the first Isle book, but they might be her cousins through Morgana. Or maybe they’re some other sea witches, not related to her at all. Or maybe they are her sisters, but it doesn’t say so.

Of the second group of VKs to go to Auradon, Celia is Freddie’s sister, Squeaky and Squirmy have a brother Sammy, and Dizzy has a cousin Anthony, not a brother, so Freddie, CJ, and Zevon are the only ones....

Oh, wait, the first Isle book mentioned “the evil step-granddaughters” and Anthony being “their cousin,” didn’t it? Guess Dizzy has canonical non-OC sisters after all. There goes this whole post. Never mind.

What kind of mother do you think Yzma is to her children? (I haven't actually watched The Emperor's New Groove so I don't know what she's like, but apparently she tried to kill her ward? And something about levers and potions?)

To her own 3 children? I think she'd probably be an okay mom. Like yeah, she'd be temperamental and snap at then more than she probably should. But she tries her best to be a good mom-- because unlike Cruella, she doesn't want to be her mother or a worse version of her. She loves her 3 kids and her 2 nephews, Zim and Zam, with all her heart. And despite the whole trying to kill Kuzco (who she raised) thing , she does still care about him a tad bit. And kinda regrets trying to kill him.

She might be a villian but she's not completely heartless. She doesn't want to be her parents. And she most certainly doesn't want her kids to end up like her and her siblings; not talking or caring for one another beyond what they can do for one another. She wants them and her nephews to have a somewhat good relationship and a somewhat good, healthy life.

She doesn't care that Lil Yaz (her oldest) and her nephews wants to be neutral, or that her daughter (who is the middle child) wants to be a hero, or that her youngest, Zevon, wants to be a villian like her. As long as they're happy and living their best lives, she doesn't care. Because that's all a mother and aunt can ask for, right?

The Overgrowth runs the forested area not already claimed by the Crimson Army. They don’t get many territory disputes due to their control over illicit substances and their willingness to cut off anyone who crosses them.

The Overgrowth, while not having that much power, is seen as a necessity. They are the only ones with the knowledge of how to cook drugs and make alcohol. If anyone seems to be gaining said knowledge, they either quickly forget, disappear, or join the Overgrowth itself.

Hi! Can you tell us about the Witches Guild and what they do?

i would love to talk about the witches guild <3 okay so the isle is full of people who are either very magical or want anyone with magic dead. now i don’t think magic is completely erased from the isle, just weakened. so you could very easily still have very powerful people. that’s where the witches guild comes in.

they both protect magical people from anyone who wants to kill them (usually frollo and his men) and the isle from demons. mostly. they were established by maddy mim when she was nine as a way to separate herself from her siblings and prove she was strong. as she got older, she decided to do something to protect the isle.

they have two main enemies. frollo, who loves to kidnap magical people and kill them. and the chernabog, who’s demons terrorize the isle each night (i’ve only read the wiki so any mistakes are my fault). the chernabog lives on the isle of arcana, and island where all the highly magical villains are, like the titan’s prison and the gateway to the realm of monsters, or people who just don’t like the crowded city, like shuriki.

so. each night the witches guild goes out and keeps any demons or frollo from killing people. maddy being maddy, and this being the isle, she tends to only protect those she has alliances with. so any magical person who wants their protection has to be her ally in some way, whether it’s be in an allying gang or just do something for her in return.

currently members include maddy, freddie, yzla, celia, marya, and elsa’s daughter, who i have not named yet. i will probably add more people eventually but for now that’s it.
