From what I know about Greek mythology, Hades was one of the few gods who never actually cheated on his wife.

Sure, he had quite a few dalliances before he married Persephone. But once they were married, he was always faithful to her, unlike some other relatives of his I could name.

Which is why him being Mal's father is surprising, because it means he, after thousands of years, was unfaithful to his wife and had a child with another woman.

And if it's unlikely enough he'd cheat once, it's extremely more unlikely he'd cheat twice. So while Mal may be the daughter of Hades and Maleficent (AU where Mal is actually the daughter of Hades and Persephone but Maleficent kidnapped her), Hadie is almost certainly the son of Hades and Persephone, and not another woman on the Isle.

I'm personally not big into Halloween, but I started thinking of my AU, A Different Tale, and Hades and:

Hades dressed Mal up in a purple dragon costume when she was two. While he, of course, never celebrated the holiday, Hadie had started to thanks to Auradon's influence. Wanting to match his sister, Hadie dressed up as a blue dragon. For the entire day, Hadie and Mal ran around the castle with Hadie holding Mal up so she could "fly" and roar at the adults, who for her sake pretended to act scared.

Mal REFUSED to take off the costume for an entire week. Eventually Persephone had to call in a favor from her mother so they could get Mal some purple dragon pajamas to bribe the girl to change.

headcanons for HADIE FROM DESCENDANTS

•His full name is Hades Prometheus Faery (I really liked the idea someone had of the middle name Prometheus, creds to them)

•Hades would often go force Hadie to go find out how Mal is and report back to him, just to check up on his daughter.

•Hadie stayed with his father and grew up under the neglectful eye of Hades, who rarely left the space of his cave. Hadie taught himself everything he knew, including how to handle all of the souls screaming at him on the isle, but it was a lot of work. Anytime he and Hades did communicate though, it was often in sarcastic remarks and yelling at each other which ended up in Hadie walking out in his worn out boots and finding a place to stay for the next few days.

•He’s like Descendants!Klaus from Umbrella Academy because of his powers. He resorts to alcohol on the Isle because it was more common than actual drugs, resulting in him growing up an alcoholic.

•Hades didn’t care.

•Woo Hadie for having two shit parents.

•No one touched Hadie. Everybody on the Isle knew he was Hades’ kid and left him alone, resulting in quite a lonely childhood, but he didn’t mind. He embraced it more as a teenager, but as a child he found it almost unbearable, talking to the souls instead.

•As a young kid he used to be very hyper and excitable and used to talk nonstop, but as he grew older, he started realising no one actually cared what he was saying and got quieter.

•Grew into his dads old leather coat, it used to gather on the floor around him but now it hangs at his knees, the bottom of it in tatters and coated in blue spray paint.

•Hadie has been friends with Uma for ages after falling into the water near the docks and she jumped in after. Uma invited him aboard the ship and he visits every week.

•They grew distant as they grew up, Uma finding her own crew in Harry Hook, Gil Legume and the Wharf Rats and Hadie venturing off on his own.

•Uma had told him about a girl called Mal who had destroyed her reputation and after finding out Mal was his sister, Hadie was disgusted with her and grew closer with Uma again.

•Harry taught him how to do eyeliner. Most definitely.

•He and Harry had a thing that never lasted.

•He smells like leather and gunpowder and on the occasional day, alcohol.

mal & hadie au headcanons

this is limited to one of the many different universes in my head in which they are siblings

theyre close in age, maybe a couple years a part, mal being older

they lived together for a bit of their early childhood

they'd mostly just sit together quietly while their parents yelled and threw things

they didn't cry as kids. it was considered weak and they'd only ever get punished for it

they wouldn't talk as kids, more just quiet acknowledgement

as they got older, and seperated by their parents, they started to avoid each other at all costs

they weren't exactly on bad terms they just can't face each other

but those feelings can also come put as hatred bc both are emotionally stunted & refuse to talk ab their feelings so they dont get along

it reminds them too much of their trauma, seeing the one person who was there too

especially them looking like their parents, so they just pretend the other doesnt exist, if anyone asks they have no siblings

someone mentioning mals brother and everyone except jay being confused

jay and mal have been friends literally forever of course he knows. he always does

them being forced to acknowledge each other one day & it fucking sucks & theyre also pissed

the other doesnt exist to them, but if they overhear about the other being in trouble, they do hesitate to them
