twisty10000 asked: How tall are you?
Tumblr media
According to this chart, I am roughly as tall as this handsome dog. My attempts to copy his style do not help my situation.

Platitudes are so weird to me. You see these little “words of wisdom” on greeting cards and decorative pillows and coffee mugs and other junk, and the message seems just as cheap and tacky. Oh, “believe in yourself”, yeah yeah, like it’s that simple.
And then I will go through some deep period of introspection and soul searching, and at the end I will be like.. oh god! I need to believe in myself! Why didn’t I think of that! It was right in front of me! But if I had followed it from the start, would it mean anything to me without doing the mental math? The answer is the same but I didn’t believe in it until I “proved” it to myself. Or I just gave myself a reason to believe in the message.
I guess words are not magic spells but communication, depending on context and delivery. I disbelieve the coffee mug because what does a factory care about my state of mind, other than my desire to buy a mug with that saying on it? But it also depends on my own receptiveness, like if I’m wringing my hands after a difficult phone call, replaying it over in my head and worrying if I said the right thing, and then looking at something like this:
https://goo.gl/images/eLY8z9
and I’m instantly relaxed? I want to hear these words, I plug them into google and it brings up a bunch of clipart with the words on it, I’ve essentially just written down what I want to hear and read it back to myself. Not that I need external validation, but it seems too pat and simple to work, even though it does.
Although if I was not receptive to the message, it would just be dumb clipart to me. Convincing myself of the message, that is the hard part. Not to say that I can’t be influenced by media. In fact I think the more direct, simple messages of the clipart are preferable to the more subtle emotional manipulation of modern advertising. With the clipart I feel like I have a choice to believe it or not, whereas a lot of ads try to sneakily pull at my heartstrings or appeal to nostalgia or horn in on my social media life to lower my emotional resistance.

I’m bothered by the fact that tumblr automatically scales images, and I can’t see an easy way to keep the images at their true size. I upload a lot of my art at low resolution and it doesn’t scale well. I could change my template but it wouldn’t affect how it looks on the dash or reblogs.
Maybe I should start making pics at a higher resolution.. Sometimes you just want a pic to be small though :/
Maybe it’s just me and it doesn’t bother other people?
