I know it's been literally forever since I've updated Let The Games Begin, but I have now! And I've released two chapters at once as a special treat!
Let The Games Begin Chapter 9
On deck the next day, under the vast expanse of the sky, the hologram device hummed to life, projecting the ominous figure of The Collector.
Callum turned to Rayla, concern etched on his face, “Are you sure you’re ready for this?” he asked.
Leo chimed in, “Yeah, we can take all the time you need. No rush, Rayla.”
Rayla gave Callum’s hand a reassuring squeeze and nodded, “I’m sure. Let’s not wait any longer.”
As they approached the hologram, The Collector’s imposing image addressed them, “I’m glad you’re ready. This trial will be different. Instead of facing material enemies, you two will witness a past event, casting Historia Viventum five times. Each time, you’ll earn a shard of the final key. Once you’ve seen the full event and collected all five shards, they will merge into your last key.”
Confusion and unease spread among the heroes as The Collector explained the nature of Callum and Rayla’s trial. Callum voiced the question on all of their minds, “Why is our trial different?”
The Collector chuckled, “The Game demands it, dear Callum.”
Jason couldn’t help but ask, “What does that mean?”
The Collector, mysterious as ever, responded, “No matter. I shall ensure your safe travel to the location, and,” he turned to Leo, “I will allow you to accompany the others this time.”
With that, The Collector vanished, leaving the heroes to exchange uneasy glances. The weight of their next challenge hung in the air, and uncertainty rippled through the group.
Silence lingered for a moment after The Collector’s projection faded away.
Leo broke the quiet, scratching his head. “Well, that was cryptic. Anyone have any idea what he meant by ‘The Game demands it’?”
Sadie, ever attuned to mystical explanations, offered her perspective, “Maybe there are rules to this magical game we’re not fully understanding. The Collector seems to be the keeper of those rules.”
Carter raised an eyebrow, “But why change the rules for Callum and Rayla?”
Piper, contemplating, suggested, “Perhaps it has something to do with the nature of their magic, being from another world and all.”
Jason, always skeptical, chimed in, “Or maybe The Collector just enjoys keeping us on our toes.”
Callum, still processing the revelation, shook his head, “I don’t like the idea of witnessing a past event.”
Rayla, her eyes reflecting a mix of curiosity and concern, added, “What event are we supposed to witness?”
Leo, trying to lighten the mood, said, “Well, at least we have Leo Valdez, the fire guy, to accompany you this time. Maybe I can add a little flair to your magical show.”
Jason, giving Leo a side-eye, teased, “Just make sure not to set the past on fire.”

Literally just finished the audiobook for Crooked Kingdom and... I have so many feelings about it
I don't even know what to say... Like, why Matthias??? Why? But it was a very well written death, I will admit
Seeing Wylan grow into his own a lot was really cool to see
And it was also very interesting to have Jesper's Dad in it, and I thought he was a great addition to the story
And don't even get me started on Kaz and Inej...

Seeing people crap on arc two Rayla genuinely makes me sad. I don't think many people truly realize the depth of Rayla's isolation. What happened to all the characters in arc one was horrible (I am not down playing that), Callum and Ezran lost their father, and Soren lost his family, but they all had Katolis to go back to. Their home. Rayla lost EVERYTHING. She lost the assassins who she grew up with and trained her, she lost her home, and worst of all she lost her parents. She lost Runaan and Ethari in one go, only months after her parents. And all she had to remember them by was what they taught her. And they taught her self sacrifice, they taught her to do questionable things in the name of protection and the greater good. Viren threatened everything she loved which WAS Callum and Ezran, and she thought he was still alive. She was stuck in fight or flight mode, she was bathed in trauma. And she had a point in TTM, everyone was just moving on, and didn't take or let her have anytime to truly grieve. She was in such a dark place in TTM and it influenced her decisions. She knows she did something wrong, she knows she hurt Callum. She hasn't brought herself to apologize yet, but why did we stop treating her as human? (Or elf, as it were)
Also hi, I've recently been liberated from TDP reddit

I am so sorry about your friends moving away. That is so hard and that time where you know they're leaving but your just waiting can be so crushingly overwhelming in its own way.
Its okay if you still need time to process or vent or just let yourself feel the feelings to release them. Taking that time is really really important. Please don't forget to take care of yourself ❤️.
Always sending you so much love and all the best vibes, and always here for you 💞. It'll be okay 💓💓💓.
Thanks so much!

Lil update: I'm trying to get the motivation to release a few chapters of Let The Games Begin, but I'm really not feeling it. Unfortunately, I'm still not feeling my best.
Basically, three families in my close friend group are moving at the end of June to the other side of the country, and that deadline has been pressing down on me a ton.
Sorry to vent, but I've been feeling awful about it inside, but I'm trying to lose myself in other things, like working on an upcoming fic (stay tuned!), but, we'll see if next week is better.
Keep sending prayers and good vibes, it means the world to me to have your support
