The Vision

In today's blog I am going to be sharing some of my vision with you. That includes what some of the planets/moons will be like in the world of Sol. And an interview with my dad who has done similar things with his own stories. 

The First planet/moon that I have today is Earth (image by spectrum.ieee.org). What the Earth looks like right now is a surface that is changed by all the nukes that existed at the present day being dropped on the surface. Causing nuclear winter. There are only small bunkers dotted across the world and the only city left is one known as Nexus. Nexus City is a hexagonal shaped platform surrounded by a glass dome in the middle of the ocean. Which is the only safe place for humans to live normally. The other bunkers mentioned are slave camps run by robots to serve those who live in Nexus.

The second planet/moon is Luna (the Moon) (image by pbs.org). Luna looks almost the same as it did before. But it has many small lunar cities all around it. Even on the dark side. These are the humans who escaped the bombings that were done by ‘the bad guys’. And eventually they prospered on Luna and sent out colonies to other planets and moons throughout Sol. After they expanded Luna became a sort of defense network against Earth if they ever tried anything.

The third planet/moon for today is Mars (image by space.com). Mars is basically the capital of the solar system. It is highly terraformed and is no longer the red planet. It is very green and blue. Almost half of the surface is covered in city. Making it the largest city that humanity has made yet. This is where all of the governmental institutions reside. Such as the Solar Senate.

Now for the interviewing of my dad on the subjects discussed in the first two posts. These are his responses.

Me - What do you think about the AFP (Angler Fishing Pod)?

My Dad - Interesting way to catch fish.

Me - What do you think about the PWF (Phantom Wing Fighter)?

My Dad - Seems too close to a tie fighter.

Me - What do you think about the WHB (Wraith Heavy Bomber)?

My Dad - Kind of like ww2 and tie bomber mix.

Me - What do you think about Earth in this story?

My Dad - Sucks that it's blown up. 

Me - What do you think about Luna/the Moon in this story?

My Dad - Cool first line of defense type place.

Me - What do you think about Mars in this story?

My Dad - No longer the red planet! But a reasonable choice.

Conclusion: My dad seems to think that my ideas are pretty good but there are a few things that could be reworked. Now I am curious about what you think is good and what should be changed about these ideas.

Book suggestions for today are:

Magisterium series by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare - This series is one that is entirely magical. But the type is different from other book series I have suggested. This one has elemental magic in it. And lots of epic creatures to go along with them. 

The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins - This series has nothing to do with magic. Unlike most of the others I have suggested. This one is the tales of an underground world below New York City. With lots of not so dangerous creatures on the surface. Supersized and scary in the vast darkness of this world.

The Journey Begins

I am Max Goettl. The creator of the world known as Sol. It is a sci-fi story that is set in a time of war in the solar system known as Sol (our solar system). And I am making this blog to get feedback on my ideas from you. I will be posting once a week with an update on what I have come up with. Whether it is designs, characters, places, factions, ideas, etc. And I want to know what you think is good, bad, etc. Give me feedback: If you think that something is just horrible. Let me know and I will try something new there. Also in every post I will give you a book suggestion that I really enjoyed and got me to come up with some of these ideas. They will be at the bottom of these posts. The links will bring you to a place where you can purchase the stories for yourself. But if you just want to try and find them in your library then you can just take the names. 

Now. What I have for you today is some designs for ships in this universe that I have made in Tinker-cad. The images are shown below. The first is called an AFP (Angler Fishing Pod). This one is a fishing vessel that would be used by ‘the good guys’ as a heavy fighter after modifying it (More in depth description here). The second is a PWF (Phantom Wing Fighter). This is a one man fighter used by ‘the bad guys’ as a dog-fighter (More in depth description here). The third one is a WHB (Wraith Heavy Bomber). This is the bomber used by ‘the bad guys’ to obliterate larger vessels. And would go along with the PWF’s to make a strike fleet using only small ships (More in depth description here). Out of these three ships I have shown you today. Which one is your favorite? Is there anything that should be changed about them? And what do you think I should cover next? I will continue to make designs like this. But I may also show you some of the other things in my head. Most of that would just be text from a document of mine that I shorten for your reading enjoyment.

Book suggestions for today:

Unwanteds by Lisa McMann - This one was what started my world building. It wasn’t the first book series that I read but it was the one that pulled me far enough into it that I could never leave. It is about teenagers who are sent to their deaths for being creative. And it is a very good story. I would recommend this book series to anyone who likes magic and exploration.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer - This one was one of the first full book series that I read. It is a very cool sci-fi story that is what gave me some of my ideas that I have not shared with you yet. I would recommend this book series to anyone who likes magical creatures and mystery solving.
