Something interesting I noticed in Transformania that makes me wonder if Ericka might have a sensitivity to loud sounds? Both times, Ericka covered her ears when Mavis and later Also Wanda, both of which most likely have more powerful hearing than a human, merely wince. Part of this could be Ericka having more exaggerated acting than most of the animated ladies of the franchise, but as someone with sensory issues MYSELF...

why mavis needed to tell johnny about the retirement... and why she was still listening? i mean, if it supposed to be a surprise then why would you tell anyone? i totally get drac in this movie, especially in the campfire scene. you’ve been so worried about your daughter and other monsters to be safe that you worry about everything. the fourth movie should’ve ended on the “drac and ericka” scene at the beggining to be honest. because of the drama later, the whole “drac’s fault” and the destroyed hotel... it’s so wrong.

Immense spoilers for Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformia and my thoughts on the film!!!

Now I'm realizing. The monsters turning human almost fixed or changed nothing. They learned literally nothing from the experience. They didn't come out of this as better people or more loving of themselves.

The only person who did was Dracula who....already had conflicts like this in the other films. Losing the hotel was nowhere near impactful enough. There could have been more emotion on why Dracula was scared of the hotel being given to Johnny. I.e his wife dying and fear of humans he had for so long.

We don't even get any real reasons for why being human is a problem for the other monsters. And we don't see them get turned back in the end. They don't ponder changing or staying human. We don't see pros and cons of being human.

And then just cutting to a year later when we could have seen them rebuilding the hotel together???? We don't even know what the kids dealt with.

Or even what happens with vampires and human partners since they will die so much sooner imagine if Drac had stayed human with Erika and retired.

There is just so much lost and so much ground work laid out by the other films that was completely ignored. I loved these movies and was so excited by this new concept. But it feels pretty wasted and moderately good as a movie.

hotel transylvania 4 should’ve focused on ericka and mavis’ relationship - don’t get me wrong, i loved their bonding time here, but there’s so much you can do with mavis trying to get along with her dad’s new love who is also an ex-monster hunter, and ericka not wanting to force herself as a mom, but wanting to prove to mavis that she loves her
