it never occurred to me until recently that darry wasn't only a father figure for pony and sodapop after their parents had died, he was also likely a father/parental figure for the rest of the gang as well. in the movie; when dallas was on the run from the police, he SPECIFICALLY asked for darry because he viewed him more as a father figure, he mentions (in the movie atleast) that his father wouldn't give a fuck if he were dead somewhere, in jail, or passed out drunk. so im sure it was pretty comforting to dally knowing that there was an older male figure he could sorta look up to and rely on. (im not 100% sure of this) but isn't it cannon that twobits father isn't in the picture? if that's true im sure this applies with twobit aswell. AND im pretty sure johnny often stayed with the curtis family.

tbh i can kinda see dallas being able to play guitar bc he taught himself while hanging around buck’s over the years

buck had one, but never really used it because he was busy or something, blah blah, dallas hangs around a lot.

one day buck came back from a long trip and dallas was just on his couch with his guitar (which was horribly rusted and out of tune) but dallas was doing good with what he was provided, so buck helped him change the strings and tune it.

and that’s the story. and now dallas can play guitar. even though he never does. he can’t let the gang know he fucks with enjoyable things.

hi! i read ‘falling without caution’ on ao3 and thought that it was so good! have you ever considered writing more for cherry and dallas?

actually, yes! i have quite a few ideas for more chally in my notes. right now i have a one-shot i’m working on plus a full-length fic (a tos x pjo crossover i’m stoked about!)

however, i am very open to chally requests! i might post a few drabbles here and there if things run dry.

this is literally said by randy in the book ! so right

i think its bobs parents fault for his, johnny, and dally's deaths. not darry's, or pony's, or even bob

his parents never told him no or disciplined him, which was why he was drunk out of his mind that night (the park when he drowned pony). he wanted (needed) for someone to tell him no, set limits, etc. him being intoxicated directly led to his death, later johnny and dally would follow; if his parents told him no/disciplined him, he wouldn't have gotten drunk that night and could've prevented his and the other two deaths

reminder this is just my opinion, though. although i'm literally putting the blame on someone in this post, it's everyone's fault. everyone had a part in it

Guys I know it's cute and all to have Dallas be this sweet little goose and no hate to anyone who writes him like when he's in love there's nothing wrong with him, but in all honesty that man probably can't have a stable relationship for the life of him. Like you could be the most perfect, forgiving, loving partner and he WILL ruin it. You say you love him for the first time and he would not just go "love you too, Doll" he would physically pull away from you and recoil in fear. Bro is terrified of love and I feel like some of us need to be more realistic with it. Once again no hate I literally obsess over cutesy Dallas fics, I just wish there were more with tangible, realistic conflict with him. A relationship with him would not be safe, easy, or romanitc. It would be scary, gut-wrenching, and insanely difficult.

like dallas was HARASSING her. of course she’s not going to be nice to him !! but she STILL said she could fall in love with him !!

and i wouldn’t go see Johnny either! Johnny killed Bob. That was Cherry’s fucking boyfriend, of course she’ll be grieving.

and Cherry was right when she said things were tough all over. look at her, saying she got too busy to watch the sunset, or saying things she doesn’t mean in fear of not fitting into the standards set.

imo if you hate cherry you just missed the entire message of the book anyways.
