Being a young adult is so strange. You enter a coffee shop. The 20 year old girl waiting behind you cried all night because she just came to a new city for university and she feels so alone. That 27 year old guy over there works a job he is overqualified for, he lives with his parents and wants to move out but doesn't know what to do about it. That one 24 year old dude already has a car, a house, and a job waiting for him once he graduates thanks to his dad's connections. The 26 year old barista couldn't complete his higher education because he has to work and take care of his family. The 28 year old girl sitting next to you has no friends to go out with so she is texting her mother. That couple (both 25 years old) are married and the girl is pregnant. The 29 year old writing something on her laptop has realized that she chose the wrong major so she is trying to start all over. We are not alone in this, but we are actually so alone. Do you feel me
I realise that ageism in fandom is, in the grand scheme of things, the least concerning thing about the fandom experience but I need to say this: all you baby adults on here need to calm down and let the real grown adults have their fun too without you hopping in their ask box’s calling them names. You’re going to get old too, okay? The years pass, you will hit thirty and beyond at some point and that’s a good thing! And when you do, you’ll still want to look at pictures of your blorbos and talk to strangers about who you want them to fuck and how they should do it. Life is hard enough right now, getting old and having a job/family/kids/responsibilities won’t change your love of fiction. I just hope that when you do hit those milestones, you will be allowed to do so in peace without being shamed for it by some terrified idiot hiding behind the anon feature.
Ohh he's a horrible person but a fascinating villain. He's one of the sons of Aegon the Conqueror, one of Dany's ancestors who conquered Westeros and started the Targaryen royal dynasty. Maegor's like the boogeyman of the Targs -- everyone looks back on him with a sense of fear and remembers his cruelty.
He had the builders of the Red Keep executed after building was complete so no one else would know where all of the secret passageways are
he was a big fan of torture, and because of how unhinged/paranoid he got at times, I see him being very similar to Dagur as well
I can see Viggo stopping short of doing some of Maegor's more extreme acts of cruelty because he'd see some of them as ineffective or bad for ruling. Maegor seemed like the kind of person who assumes brutal torture is automatically the best route -- that or "behead first, ask questions later" - which helped to get him in power, but also led to him making some pretty terrible decisions that weren't even helpful to this reign. I think Viggo would probably be more moderate (at least in public) -- if not because of morality, then just to be more strategic.
He also usurped his brother's kids which I can definitely see Viggo doing to Ryker.
Idk how familiar you are with Tagaryens from before GoT and HotD but I just had an idea I thought you'd appreciate and I need to share it:
Viggo as Maegor the Cruel and the dragon riders as his 6 brides
I could also see this with Dagur tbh. I think Maegor is somewhere between the two of them
(also apologies if you don't know who maegor is in which case this won't make a ton of sense lol)
No idea who Maegor the Cruel is, but I love the idea of the Dragon Riders as the 6 brides. It's just evil. 😈
okay wait wait wait wait wait so I was looking at The Rise of the Dragon art and---
THAT'S THE SAME CIRCLET. RHAENA TARGARYEN IS WEARING VISENYA'S CIRCLET.
And now I need to know, is this Maegor forcing her into his vision of a Targaryen queen? Is this Oedipal subtext? Or is this a tiny act of defiance from Rhaena, "stealing" Visenya's crown just after Alyssa Velaryon stole Dark Sister?
