if anyone doesn’t know, you play as a character who has the power to summon other legendary heroes from other games in the franchise by using a ring that houses that hero’s spirit 👀 sounds pretty self explanatory to me. thinking about wild going through totk while being able to summon the spirits of his brothers?? or his successor??? anyone?

do I still hate suresh as a player? yes. was what he did and continued to do all season okay? no. but did my mc let go of her anger towards him in their final chat together? she did.

narratively, i think they tried to write it so that it looked like suresh had problems with himself—that he self-destructed his own happiness and that it just so happened to be the same thing as hurting mc. but as with so many of the things this season that had potential, they just didn’t write it well. this season was in some bad hands. I’d like to see a fanfic writer take in the challenge of writing this season to make the plot lines and characters likable. myself included…

wip wednesday

no one tagged me i just want to get this out of my drafts

She lifts her heavy skirts, her boots sinking into the mud with each stubborn step away from him. At this point, she couldn’t even bring herself to lament the dirtying of the dress.

Unfortunately, Adam is quick to follow. He’s always quick to follow.

“Detective,” he presses, his voice right behind her and strained with the effort to keep his tone even. “Do you not understand that this is America in the eighteenth century? There is no such thing as an American accent yet.”

“Do you not understand that I don’t care?” Kyla shoots back, throwing the words venomously over her shoulder with a humorless smile.

Adam releases something akin to a strangled groan low in his throat.

“You are infuriating!” He gets through gritted teeth, his jaw tensed.

She scoffs. “And you are intolerable!”

His green eyes look down his Roman nose at her, his pale cheeks flushed a pinch pink with indignation. It blossoms over his face and dips down to his neck as his eyes drop a little lower. He lets go of a heavy breath and heat prickles across her skin. At once, they both turn frustratedly away.

The Many Smiles of Time

I was rereading LU because why not, and I’m not sure if I noticed something or if I’m making something out of nothing. But either way this was a fun little thing to make! Anywho I’ve dubbed and analyzed each type of smile Time has, because the man needs to smile more.

The "Classic Time Smile"

Alternatively known as the Subtle Uptick. This smile is the minuscule lifting of the corners of Time's mouth paired with a flat, half-lidded look from the eyes.

Sometimes it's barely-discernible, and I wanna think that's just how Time smiles.

Like these are all pretty chill and standard, as far as Subtle Upticks go.

But then we escalate to the next level of Classic Time Smile:

You cannot tell me this dude isn't fighting with every fiber of his being to keep from grinning. Look at him. He's trolling the chain, trolling the skull kids, "No, this isn't the worst scar I've got." He is positively giddy on the inside from saying that. He feels so cool he can barely contain it. This has me somewhat convinced that the Classic Time Smile doesn’t actually happen naturally (aka there is always a conscious effort being put into keeping it small/subtle) bc Time enjoys being perceived as cryptic so much that he does it on purpose.

Also he never does this one around Malon and we know those smiles are always genuine but that’s a later point-

"The Stinker"

This one is Time's way of acknowledging he just did something others might not like, but he's not sorry for whatever it was he did. I'd best describe this one as "accompanied by a rueful snicker." Observe:

In each of these scenarios, you can tell Time just did something a little mischievous, perhaps even a little objectionable. But this little "hehehe" is about as much as you'll get by way of an apology. I'd be wary of this one.

The "I Love My Wife"

Look at this man. Somebody get him his wife.

Genuine and goofy, the "I Love My Wife" happens anytime Time sees or talks about Malon, because this man is hopelessly in love. It's a grin with a touch of softness, a lightening of the features with no conscious effort. I believe "adorable" is the word that comes to mind.

The "Heart: Hurting"

This is a smile that is loosely worn to hide some other emotion, because he's trying to show face or reassure/comfort someone. It could be masking uncertainty, sadness, or any other emotion he doesn't want to openly display in front of whomever he's trying to console. The brows pinch and rise, and above all else, the smile is gentle.

On the left, we have a successful attempt at such a smile. On the right, all that can be managed is a scrunch of the lips. hm. wonder why.

The "I Am Definitely Doing This Fathering Thing Right"

This one is the big cheesy grin, the confident and bellowing laugh, the pure elation and ease that comes from having a good time with people you care about. Lookit:

The darker the shadows are, the brighter the light seems, so on a journey as dangerous as this one, where the end goal is nowhere in sight and danger lurks about every corner, moments of happiness like this make smiles a little bigger, laughs a little louder, and souls a little lighter. This smile is amplified with relief (if that makes any sense) because of the weight it releases from Time's shoulders, as everyone is not only alive and healthy, but also happy. Must be doing something right.

The "God I Love My Boys"

Brows lifted by delight, grin spreading without effort; This one is just Time being a proud dad. For any scene with this smile in it, the dialogue could be substituted with "God I love my boys" and it would fit perfectly. Seamlessly, even. Every time this smile comes up, Time will be addressing or looking at one of the chain with an overwhelming sense of pride, love, or wonder.

okay so ive been thinking about this all night and has spirit tracks actually happened in linked universe yet?

i recently reread all of LU and I’ve been wondering why there’s no mention of anything spirit tracks related.

now, pls pls correct me if I’m wrong or if I’ve missed something, but LU wind seems VERY phantom hourglass and wind waker oriented. there’s barely any mentions of anything in or about spirit tracks at all.

in the latest update i believe wind was thinking about bellum—not malladus. he mentions ganon all the time and even wields the phantom sword. i know jojo has stated that wind = spirit tracks link and it’s very likely that the lack of spirit tracks references are simply because jojo has a strong preference for phantom hourglass (as detailed here) but what if it’s not?

i looked through a lot of stuff but not everything. im far too tired for that atm. but I even looked through old q&a posts. there’s not even any ST references in wind’s design.

also keep in mind, the bokoblins wind recognizes are from the great sea. whenever he talks of his home, it’s always of islands or his time on the water. it sounds like they’re still sailing and looking for land. and i believe the general consensus is that wind and tetra don’t even discover new hyrule until they’re adults or at least in their late teens considering they set up the monarchy in new hyrule. idk about anyone else but I wouldn’t want my leading authority to be a fourteen year old.

as I said before, I admit there’s a high probability that jojo just….doesn’t care much for the game. last I recall, she said she’d give the game another chance after getting used to phantom hourglass’ mechanics. but do we know if she actually finished it?

the only evidence i have to refute this theory is a few handful of things.

likely the biggest proof against this theory (unless I’m missing, not understanding, or forgetting something) is wind’s current shield.

i believe as far as these three games are concerned, it only shows up in spirit tracks. it could also be argued that wind was referring to chancellor cole or ST zelda in the latest update when expressing his concerns about twilight getting corrupted but chancellor cole was never really corrupted? from the start, he was a demon who merely pretended to be a normal hylian and byrne did everything of his own volition in an attempt to become more powerful. i suppose it could still be about zelda (especially when you really think about the puppeteer line) but I wouldn’t describe ST zelda as having been corrupted and certainly not in the way wind is worried twilight could be. her body was used as a vessel but not when her spirit or consciousness was in it and it wasn’t because of any practice she participated in or item she used.

jojo did upload a video at one point and one of the time stamps shows she talked about spirit tracks zelda. unfortunately, I’ve never seen this video and am currently still unable to access it so I have no idea what was spoken about in this video.

furthermore, while this may be trying to find a needle in a haystack, one could look at this comic and find it suspicious that wind knows and understands cuccos and their dangers very well despite them not being present in the wind waker. while cuccos are in spirit tracks, they are also very much present in phantom hourglass.

anyway, long story short—im probably overthinking. but wind speaks of the great sea as though it’s still very much present in his current time which leads me to believe spirit tracks hasn’t happened yet among other things. you could always just argue that wind found his shield somewhere in the great sea or on an island post-phantom hourglass and it was merely kept around until the events of spirit tracks.

i really don’t mind this lack of reference though! for those members of the fandom like me who love to make wind and spirit two separate people, it helps that wind hardly (if ever) alludes to any spirit tracks adventures. and if you like meshing all three games together, it’s interesting to think of spirit tracks as an adventure wind has yet to begin!

pls lmk if I’ve gotten anything wrong or missed something! i’ll be very embarrassed but i’ll live!! also, if you happen to know what was said about ST zelda and want to lmk, I’d be happy to hear that too!
