Jisoo woke up in her bed, maybe practicing soccer is a dream. But what should she do for the foundation week? She grabbed her things to get ready for class then stopped when she saw her roommate coming out of the shower with only his pants on, drying his hair with a towel. Jaemin noticing it just stared at her for a while that made her blush, why is he looking at her like that? Hurriedly, she went to the bathroom to shower then realized something off, she’s in her period. Damn, why is this happening to her? This will be really comfortable.
All day, she can’t bear the pain of her stomach. Why must girls experience this type of pain every month? The older girl gave her painkillers and extra napkins to use. “It’s also bad since tomorrow is the sports fest.” she claimed that made the younger nod while clutching her stomach. “It will be really difficult to move tomorrow.” Jisoo just whined in pain, why must she suffer like this in a boys’ school?
The next day was the school fest and unlike those in co-ed schools, it isn’t as festive as Eunbyul expects it to be. Is she out of school for too long? Is this the new fad now? A table was given to her to assist students getting injured. Some of the teachers were telling her their condolences that made her confused. During the second game of baseball, she realized why. Work is tiring, why do students in boys’ school like fighting using their fists? It’s only morning yet she had almost ten patients with broken lips or a bruised eye.
During one of the breaks, Mark handed her a bottle of water while asking her how she is. She just nodded, claiming that it was her job and that she’s fine. “Is Jisoo alright?” he asked, which made the two look at the girl who was awkwardly talking to both Jisung and Chenle.
“It’s her time of the month.” she said quietly that made Mark nod, not asking anything further. Eunbyul chuckled at Mark’s awkward look, “Mark Lee.” she called that made him look at her, “You’re doing a great job as the council president.”
Jaemin just gave a worried look at Jeno as he watched his half-brother talking to the school nurse. He honestly didn’t think that he’s here at the school fest since he hated it ever since they’re freshmen. Maybe he’s here to look at her. “Representatives for the athletic run, go to the starting position.” the coach said and Jaemin tapped Jeno’s shoulder, heading to the starting position. He shook his head seeing the only girl in the academy joining the competition, they’ll probably just make her eat dust.
Instead of a competition, it became a running marathon that annoyed him. Why are they jogging instead of running? “I heard the price for this game is not that great. I don’t know why they wanted us to suffer.” one contestant claimed that made him smirk. Well, there’s no way that he’s competing with these useless guys. He’ll just waste his energy like this. He stayed by the field, hiding in the bushes and maybe taking a nap.
The stillness was disturbed when he heard someone whining in pain then heard something fall down. “Isn’t he the first year? He’s pretty.” he heard one guy say. A pretty first year? “I think his name is Jihoo.” another guy said. Jihoo? His roommate? “Should we take off his shirt? He must be feeling hot.” And although he hated to get involved in something, this is his chance to make his female roommate suffer.
The guys were surprised seeing Jaemin by the bushes. Scared, they all ran away. No one wants to be involved with Jaemin’s agenda. He carried the girl on his back and brought her to the nurse who looked surprised.
She immediately gave the girl water while tapping her cheeks. “Can you help me bring him to the clinic?” she asked and he nodded, doing what she asked. Obviously, she knew that she’s a girl right? She’s the school nurse. “I’ll take care of him. Thank you for…” she started and he looked at her, arms crossed against his chest. “Shouldn’t I perform CPR on him? It will be awkward since you’re a girl and all.” he claimed and was about to walk to the younger’s bed when the older blocked his way. “I’ll take care of it.”
“You know, don’t you?” the guy asked that made Eunbyul stop. “Is that why you’re working here? Aren’t you a coffee shop girl?” The young guy was leaning by the door, still with his arms crossed against his chest and glaring at her. “Does Mark know? Is that why you’re teaming up to protect her?” The guy smirked seeing her surprised reaction. So she did know? And Mark as well?
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Eunbyul claimed while removing the younger’s shoes to at least cool her up. This is getting her nervous. What if this guy tortures Jisoo because he knew that she’s a girl? Jihoo should go back and save his sister this instant. “Now I know why Jeno is head over heels for you.” he said before leaving the clinic that made her breath heavily. So that’s why he seemed familiar, he’s Jeno’s friend. But what should she do now? Her secret will get discovered like this.
Jisoo was already in the clinic when she woke up. But isn’t she running for the athletic run, why is she here? “Oh, you’re awake.” someone said that made her turn to the owner of the voice, the vice president. Although they belonged to the same school, it seemed like so long since she last saw Renjun. It seems like he’s avoiding her but she isn’t sure. And why would that be the case? “Nurse Lee said that you’ll be fine when you wake up.” he claimed and that’s when she noticed that he’s applying ice packs on his ankle. “Sunbae, are you hurt?” she asked and he smiled, shaking his head while saying that it’s a minor injury.
“It must hurt.” he claimed when she stood up. Jisoo glanced curiously at Renjun, what is he talking about? She followed his gaze on the bed sheet with a blood stain on it. Oh God, no! “My mom would always complain about the pain every month.” he said casually, not looking at her. He knew? How did he find out? Is it pretty obvious? Does someone else know? “I heard you and Haechan talking. I’m sorry, Jihoo.” he confessed then shook his head. “I won’t tell anyone. I’m really sorry.”
So all this time he knew? Is that why he’s avoiding them? And why is he the one saying sorry when it was her fault? “I’m sorry, vice president. I’m not deceiving you or anything, I just need to do this for my brother.” Renjun is a great listener when she told the story of Jihoo. He didn’t show any reaction or even expression that makes everything weirder and she appreciated him for that. “Then, what’s your name?” Renjun asked while lightly glancing at her. “Park Jisoo.” she answered and he nodded, smiling at her. “I hope your brother comes back so you’ll get out of this hell hole.” he said sincerely that made her smile. Renjun isn’t so bad after all.
Mark was annoyed that the students aren’t showing enthusiasm in the activities. Will their school be like this until the end? “Shouldn’t we make the prizes grander?” Renjun suggested, studying the score sheet that the president had given him. “Maybe a trip?” But Mark refuted that they can’t really afford that. “Or a weekend outside the campus?” he claimed that made the older look at him. “Our school should also be lenient on dating and stuff, what’s wrong with dating outside the campus?” Renjun shook his head when the older nodded at the suggestion. “I know that you’ll like dating outside on a weekend.” he teased.
Well Mark hasn't thought of that. He’s in his last year of prep school and approaching university next year so he must study hard for SATs. Does he even have the time to date? “Mark hyung, are we still continuing the Beauty Pageant?” The vice president asked, making the older look at him in surprise, is he against this competition? “Can we skip it this year?” But it was the only event that made the students excited. “I’m scared of what might happen.” The older man can't deny that Renjun is indeed smart but did he find out about Jisoo? “I know you know, hyung. We’ll be in trouble if Jisoo got found out.”
--------
“So Huang Renjun knows?” Eunbyul asked when she went out with Jisoo to buy some things needed in the clinic. The students didn’t question when she asked her to be excused in the games but she knew that someone would make up a story about them. Well, it’s fine. They’re practically family anyways. Jisoo nodded, sighing while taking a sip of her iced latte. Should she tell her that another person knows her secret? “Jisoo, you know Lee Jeno right?” the older asked, which made the younger nod, smiling at her. “Unnie, how did you know about Jeno? You seemed close. Did you tutor him as well as Mark oppa?”
Eunbyul shook her head, why would she think of that? So instead of lying to her, she shared what happened before when she housed Jeno in her coffee shop and took care of him since he’s in pain. Jisoo just nodded, letting the story sink in. If it isn’t Jeno then she might have been rooting for her unnie’s love life. But seriously? Lee Jeno? She’s too good for him. “Do you know his friend? The guy he’s tagging with all the time?” Jisoo nodded. She knew him too well and lately that guy had been annoying her. “He’s my roommate, unnie.” Damn it, Eunbyul thought, she’ll get scared if she tells her the truth. “Wae? Do you like him?” And the older one just laughed, shaking her head.
Buying the things for the clinic didn’t take time but Eunbyul had missed shopping with Jisoo and apparently, she also missed being a girl. A certain pink dress caught the younger’s attention, claiming that it was really cute and that she wanted to wear something like that again. “Are you really joining the pageant?” Eunbyul asked but Jisoo shook her head, explaining that both Haechan and Renjun didn't want her to join. “You should. I’ll buy you the dress.” she claimed that made the younger surprised. Why is she suddenly agreeing to this?
A teachers’ meeting was held for the pageant and Eunbyul thought that this is a rather large event for students who don't really care. A representative of the school council was also with them, Huang Renjun. Now, she doesn’t know how to react with the said guy knowing that he knows about their secret. “There should be a group to perform before announcing the results.” One teacher suggested that the other teachers nod. “But Mark and Haechan are the only members left from the original boy group.” That information surprised Eunbyul, Haechan is in a boy group? So that’s why Mark had been telling her that her brother likes singing.
“Mark hyung can perform but Haechan can’t.” Renjun stated that made everyone look at him. “Haechan is participating in the pageant.” Another surprising revelation. Her brother is joining? “So Nurse Eunbyul cannot be the judge in the pageant.” he claimed with a smile at her way and she just nodded, that’s fair enough. “Then she can be in charge of the intermission performance.” one older teacher suggested and she pouted, how can she do that? The only students she knew in this school are Mark, Haechan, and Jisoo and they’re unavailable. How can she make a boy group in just two days?
“Why did you accept the job?” Mark asked that made her annoyed. Why is he angry at her? “The teachers gave up on that group ever since the hyungs graduated.” he stated that made Renjun nod. Haechan sighed, he shouldn’t have joined the pageant? Why is he the chosen representative of third years anyways? If only her oppa is here, Jisoo thought, then her unnie can’t have any problems. “Unnie.” Jisoo called and Haechan lightly glanced at Jisoo then at Renjun who didn’t seem fazed by it. Does he know already? “Chenle said that he used to perform in China and he met Jisung there.” she stated that made them all look at her. “I’ll ask for their help.”
There’s two people already, maybe she can utilize it for a boy group already but Mark had to burst her bubble and claim that it’s not a boy group if it’s less than five members. Renjun volunteered to join that surprised Haechan, he doesn’t really like to be in a spotlight. “We just need two additional members.” the vice president claimed making the older sigh. Where can she get two additional members when she doesn’t know anyone in this school?
The question was answered when she saw someone coming out from the cafeteria while drinking soda. There’s also two people she knew from this school, she realized. “Lee Jeno.” she called and he stopped, did she just call him? The girl smiled and he hated his heart for beating so loud. Jaemin was right, why is he so lovesick on this girl? “I need your help.” she said in a small voice and he cocked his head to the side. His help? No one needed his help before.
“So you wanted me and Jaemin to join a boy group?” he asked, which made her nod enthusiastically, feeling hopeful. The younger guy just shook his head, smirking at her. “First of all, Jaemin wouldn’t join that. Second, why don’t you ask help from Mark?” The way he said those words seemed so bitter that she questioned herself if it was best to ask help from him. She pouted, sighing hard. She honestly looked so tired, so hopeless at this point. Seriously, she’s older yet she seemed like a kid. How can he not be lovesick? “If I force Jaemin to join, will you do me something in return?” he asked and she nodded. The guy took out his phone and handed it to her, asking her to put her number which she did. Jeno just left smiling to himself. What now? Will they join or not?
When Jaemin went back to the dorm after hanging out with Jeno, he was conflicted on whether he would join the group his friend wanted him to join. Seriously, all this for a girl? Jeno must be really out of his mind. “I was amazed by Renjun hyung’s voice.” he heard someone say from where his roommate’s bed is. He might have a visitor. Why is he back early anyways? “He hit those notes effortlessly.” They must be talking about the boy group. Is his roommate joining as well? Then it might be a co-ed group. “Too bad you can’t join.” another voice said that made Jaemin curious. Why isn’t he joining? “But you have to do well for the pageant, you’ll win for sure.” What the hell is this kid thinking joining the pageant? Does she really want to get discovered? But then, he shouldn’t care about it. It’s not his problem anyways.
It was almost late when the visitors left and he found out that it was her best buds, Chenle and Jisung. Do they know her secret as well? Then maybe it isn’t much of a secret anymore. Instead of pondering over it, he started logging on to the game he had been doing with Jeno lately. But his friend isn’t online, it’s just midnight, is he busy? He stayed up a little bit to wait for his friend to log on the game but it’s already 3 am and Jeno isn’t showing signs of showing up to play that he gave up and headed to sleep.
It seemed like he didn’t sleep too much when he heard the shower running, what time is it? Isn’t it too early? Jaemin stood up to check his phone on the table, it’s only seven am. It’s still early since there’s no classes. When he turned to get back to bed, his roommate was already there fresh from shower. She was already fully clothed to casual clothes and wiping his wet hair. “Oh sunbae, did I wake you up? Mian.” she said and that’s when he realized that he’s staying in a room with a girl. A lot of things can happen with him and her in one room, isn’t she nervous? He’s still a guy and he can do lots of things.
Jaemin inched closer that made Jisoo step back, “Sunbae?” she called but he remained walking to where she is until she felt the door of the bathroom by her back. What is this guy doing? “Na Jaemin!” someone called as the door to their room opened. Jeno was standing by the doorway, an eyebrow raised at how close the two were. Jaemin opened the bathroom door that made Jisoo almost fall if not for his hold on her waist. “Why are you so nervous?” he asked then smirked, going inside the bathroom.
Jisoo had to sigh heavily to prevent her heart from beating so fast, clutching her chest as if it’s in pain. “Are you gay?” Jeno asked while sitting on his friend’s bed. Surprised, Jisoo shook her head dismissively. Why did she forget that there’s another person in the room? She was about to head to her own bed when Jeno stopped her, “You’re close with the school nurse, aren’t you?” he asked and she nodded. Why is he asking that? “Is she really married?” his only question that made her want to laugh that instant. Her unnie wouldn’t get married like that, she was honestly surprised on why she said that lie in the first place. But why is Lee Jeno curious? She only nodded that made the guy sigh heavily, nodding as well.
She doesn’t have anything to do that day and just decided to get a bath early. Maybe she’ll just finish some assignment meant for next week or study. Then she can watch Jisung and Chenle practice then have lunch with them. She heard a door opened followed by Jaemin asking why Jeno is still in their room. “Na Jaemin, will I get in prison for having an affair with a married lady?” Jeno asked that made Jisoo surprised, what is that question? Is he serious? Her roommate just laughed, “You’re really hung up with this girl, aren’t you?” Is Jeno talking about Eunbyul? Does he really like her? “Come on. You’re going to kill me if you didn’t get the girl of your dreams.”
Chenle was pacing back and forth in the room that was prepared as their dance studio. “Nurse Lee, are they really coming?” Jisung asked while warming up for their choreography practice. Honestly, she isn’t sure but why would Jeno call her three times last night if he doesn’t want to join? “Let’s just practice first then maybe they can join later.” Renjun suggested playing the music they’re going to perform, No.1 by Boa. It isn’t really a hard song yet Jisung modified some of the choreography to help Renjun and Chenle while singing. Besides, they want to show off their charms as a man so a change of choreography is what they really need. The door opened in the middle of the three dancing that surprised Renjun, why are they here? Eunbyul just smiled welcoming the two boys and Chenle grinned, “Welcome to our boy group.”

Jisoo was in a rush to get out of the shower that morning since she had to go to the clinic and get her bandage changed before class. Drying her hair with a towel going out, she bumped into her roommate and he hissed while glaring at her. “Mian,” she said quietly then bowed, moving to the right to let him pass. She quickly went upstairs to her cabinet that made Jaemin follow him with a gaze. He’s so small for a boy. Maybe that was why the Vice President kept on hanging out with him since he saw someone smaller than him.
When Jaemin went out after a shower, his roommate was already out of the room. He’s usually not the inquisitive type but something about his new roommate made him wonder about things. He decided to check his things which were typical boy stuff until he reached the lowest drawer of the cabinet and saw a box, locked with a key. He’s hiding something.
At lunch, he can’t help but just look at him while talking with his classmate animatedly. Now that he is staring at him, he looks pretty. He can even pass off as a girl. “What’s wrong?” Jeno asked, eyeing where his friend was looking. Jaemin just shook his head, he can’t let this curiosity get in his head. “Did I mention to you that Mark is in love with the new school nurse?” Jeno claimed that made the other look at him. Maybe it was the years of being friends that they had an understanding with each other even without words.
“President said to don’t bother the school nurse,” Renjun claimed, overhearing them. Jaemin was asking why he was sitting next to them that made the other guy shake his head, claiming that they’re not even eating.
“Why aren’t you with Haechan?” Jeno asked, knowing full well that he’s more like his group of people but Renjun just shook his head.
Jaemin wondered why then lightly glanced at the group Haechan is with, surprised to have eye contact with his roommate. The other quickly looked at another place, seeing him and he smirked. “Jeno, let’s change seats.” Renjun asked which made the two surprised, he’s obviously avoiding someone from that group. But who? And why?
----
Instead of listening to class, Jeno was looking at his phone. Should he call her? Pretend to ask for coffee delivery just to hear her voice? “Aish.” he cursed loud enough for everyone to hear but the teacher kept on telling the class how to answer the question on the board. Jaemin tapped him, asking what’s wrong but he just shook his head. He can’t be thinking of her like this. He needs to do something to divert his mind into things.
Jeno thought of messing up with Mark by going to the clinic and seeing his mystery girl but the older stopped him. “Why are you going here?” he asked, making the younger smirk.
“I didn’t know that going to the clinic needs your permission now.” the younger retorted making Mark glare.
“Don’t be childish, Jeno.” Pissed off, he just left feeling more annoyed than ever.
“Let’s grab coffee.” Jeno told Jaemin, dragging him outside school that made the other chuckle.
“You don’t drink coffee.” he claimed that made both of them stop in their tracks.
Jaemin shook his head. “Just tell me if you want to see her, lovesick.” Jeno smiled as the two headed to the coffee shop. Again, he was disappointed that it was closed. But why? The time when he wanted to see her and she’s not around, that’s just great. Jaemin just shook his head, all this effort of walking just for nothing? In the end, the two decided to just skip school and have fun outside.
It was past curfew when Jaemin went back to his room only to be greeted by a faint light coming from upstairs. Of course, his roommate would be here. But why is he still up? Normally, he’s knocked down cold whenever he gets back. Did he come back early? “Neh noona. I already drank my medicine.” he heard him say then in a whispered tone continued, “I’ll come to visit you tomorrow.” Noona? Visit her? Does this kid have a girlfriend?
Jisoo closed her lamplight when she finished the call with Eunbyul. Seriously, they’re seeing each other every day yet she always checks up on her that even Haechan claims that her concern for the younger girl is really out of this world. Slowly, she’s healing. It’s not a deep cut but it’s still painful. “Yah!” she heard someone say after a ball hit the ceiling. “Do you have a sister?” her roommate asked that surprised her, are they having a conversation now?
The other person upstairs lightly glanced at him and he cocked an eyebrow. “Neh sunbae.” the other answered and Jaemin nodded, wanting to tease him further.
“Is she pretty?” he asked and she thought hard about what to tell him.
“She’s my twin sister.” Jaemin smirked. Well, this guy is already pretty so his sister might be really pretty.
“Noona?” He asked and she shook her head before realizing why he’s asking that. He heard her earlier. Jaemin chuckled. “You do know that dating isn’t allowed in this school, right?” he asked then continued, “Even if you’re dating someone outside school.” he said then threw his ball once again. “You can get kicked out, you know?” Then he closed his night light that scared the hell out of her. He’s up to something, she’s sure of that. Why is her roommate so scary?
When she woke up that morning, Jaemin was already seated in front of his desk. She mumbled a quiet ‘excuse me’ before heading to the comfort room and quickly showering. Jaemin was even surprised that he’s already done and already clothed. “Do you even wash yourself?” he asked and she nodded before telling him that he’s going out first. Jisoo did find it odd that when she went out of the room, Jaemin was following her. So instead of heading to the nurse’s office, she went straight to class even if it is still early.
“This month will be the school’s foundation week.” The first year homeroom adviser announced that made the class ecstatic. The teacher gave the schedule of the activities, consisting of games for the first two days and a festival on the last day. “I wish everyone could participate in the games as well as the festival.” he announced.
Jisoo was actually worried, she had never been sporty so what can she help with? The president of the class laid out the activities and assigned each one to choose two activities each. “What are you going to do?” Jisung asked her, shaking her head. She doesn’t really know what to do.
“Basketball?” Chenle asked and she shook her head, not knowing anything related to basketball. “Or since you’re pretty, you can join the pageant.” He claimed that made Jisung laugh. Is there something like that? “It’s done on the last day of the festival, representatives of each class were asked to dress like girls.” And Jisung laughed. “It’s the biggest score to let your class win.”
Yeah, she thought. She can join that and let the class win, she’s a girl anyways. “Are you crazy? Why would you join that?” Haechan asked, totally against this crazy idea. Maybe he’ll kill Chenle for suggesting it to her then Jisoo, for thinking that it was alright.
Mark only nodded, “Well, students were noticing that you are pretty for a guy.” he complimented that made the other guy scoff. “So they might talk if you don’t join.” he stated logically making her pout.
That was really logical, Eunbyul thought. But still, the decision should be left to Jisoo. Why did she even agree to this? Now, Haechan and Mark were both dragged into this mess.
“You?” Haechan called pointing at his older sister, earning a surprised look from her. “The boys will have a field day seeing you during the sport games.” he claimed that made Mark nod.
Eunbyul just sighed, she can’t really do anything since she had to take care of injured players. That’s her job as the school nurse. “Shouldn’t I at least know the teachers? You’re keeping me as a prisoner in this clinic, Mark.” she complained but the younger just shook his head. It was an order in school not to bother the school nurse, why did he even let her in this school? “What are you so scared of anyways?” she asked innocently that made both guys look at her, is she out of her mind?
But she’s right. Why are they scared of the boys meeting her when it was her job in the first place to take care of them? She accepted the job so she knew the consequence anyways. “Noona, can you pretend that you’re married? Maybe that will keep me at ease.” Haechan suggested. If that was the only way she can get out of the clinic, then it’s fine. “And Jisoo-yah, are you sure that you want to join the pageant?” he asked that made the younger nod. Sighing, Haechan just nodded as if frustrated with everything. Eunbyul smiled, slowly Haechan is really growing up, isn’t he? That’s a nice sign that he’s not like their dad.
-------
“Get in your swimming trunks for the swimming class.” The first year class president noted that Jisoo dash out of the room and into the nurse’s office. When she came back to her homeroom, the coach was looking at her from head to toe and commenting about being lazy for not joining the PE Class. She handed him the notice that Eunbyul just drafted, claiming that she’s allergic to pool water but the coach just ripped the paper claiming that he shouldn’t really slack. “Or if you want, bring the nurse here. I’ll reconsider.” he claimed that made her annoyed, why is he like this?
The third years were in the swimming pool area of the school when the first years came, Haechan’s first instinct was to look for Jisoo in the class but she’s not there. “Do you think Jihoo is bringing the school nurse?” one freshman claimed that made the third year overheard. “I heard she’s an old woman.” one guy claimed. Haechan just sighed, she’s really going to reveal herself like this?
The coach called for everyone and Jisoo came from the doors that made the oldest of them stop, “So where is the almighty school nurse?”
Mark was right. Of all the people in the school, she should be wary of the coach. In her eyeglasses and ponytailed hair, she came to the sacred boys’ school swimming pool then bowed at the older guy. “I’m the school nurse. Park Jihoo told me you wanted to speak to me?” The guy just nodded, unable to say a word. “Is this about his allergy? It was from the records from his former school so I think it’s better to exempt him from your class.” The coach just nodded and she smiled, “Then I’ll get back to work. Thank you Coach-nim.” Before she could leave, the coach was stuttering and asking her if she had a boyfriend. She held out her right hand, showing a ring on her finger, “I’m married.”
Jaemin glanced at Jeno in surprise. First, the girl she liked is the school nurse? The same girl that Mark likes. Second, she’s married? Maybe his friend is really sick in the head. To his surprise, he just saw him run away from the pool area even if the coach called for him. “Isn’t she your sister?” Renjun asked Haechan that made the other nod. Again, Jaemin was surprised. Did she really mean to work here as the school nurse? Then he remembered when his roommate was talking on the phone, is he talking to her? Is that girl a cougar? Then Jeno is in trouble.
“Gomawo, unnie.” Jisoo claimed and the older just ruffled her hair, smiling at her. “Haechan and Mark oppa will kill me.” she claimed and the older just rolled her eyes, saying that she’ll take care of it.
A person blocked their way that surprised both girls, he glared at Jisoo to run away but Eunbyul was too surprised to react. Worried, Jisoo just went the other way leaving the resident bad boy to her unnie. This is bad. Should she call for help? Maybe call for Mark?
“What are you doing here?” they both asked at the same time that surprised Jeno.
“I thought you’re a college student.” she claimed that made the guy smile.
“I didn’t say anything.” Oh yeah, she remembered that he never mentioned his age. So all this time she was housing a minor at her coffee shop? His friend was right, she can get to prison because of him. “What are you doing here?” he asked once again and she just showed her name tag, saying that she’s the school nurse.
He punched the wall beside him that surprised the girl, why is he so angry? “That’s why you closed the coffee shop.” But he was just telling that to himself instead of hers. “I’ve been looking for you yet you’re so close.” Looking for her? He brushed his hair up as if frustrated with everything, making her confused. “Are you really married?”
“Yah, shouldn’t you be at class?” Mark asked, followed by Jisoo who looked relieved that nothing happened to her unnie.
“Why do we always like the same things?” Jeno asked, passing by his brother that surprised Eunbyul, there’s something wrong between Jeno and Mark.
The older of the boys glared at her, asking why she’s outside and she rolled her eyes. “Mark Lee, you can’t keep me inside the clinic forever. You should go back to class as well and Jisoo, don’t call Mark for these things again.” she said then went on her way to the clinic leaving Jisoo apologizing to the frustrated guy.
Jaemin guessed right, Jeno will be annoyed the whole time that he suggested skipping class and just go out to play. Unlike the normal gang fight, they were at the baseball area spending time. “What are you gonna do?” he asked his friend but Jeno just kept hitting the balls coming their way with no thoughts. “Should we scare her out of the school?”
But it only made Jeno glare at him. Well, he’s really whipped at the older girl. “I’m not going home.” Jeno exclaimed that made Jaemin tap his back, asking him to forget her by flooding himself with girls.
It’s almost curfew when Jaemin went back to the campus, surprised to see the field with a faint light. Maybe someone is practicing late at night. To his surprise, it was his roommate kicking balls inside the goal. Maybe he’s looking for a sport he can compete in but judging from the way he’s failing, soccer isn’t in his alley. Because of the light, he can only see his silhouette and honestly, his form isn’t too good. From the distance, he heard something falling and saw that the guy was already on the ground. Aish.
Although he doesn’t want to, there’s no one who could help since the campus is already deserted. Maybe he can leave him in the clinic. He’s so small for a boy, he realized while looking at his unconscious body. When something grazed on his arm, he realized why. So this is his roommate’s secret?

It's almost a week and Jisoo would often spend time with Chenle and Jisung or other guys from her class. So far, so good. No one would know that she's just pretending since he's always copying Jisung's actions.
That Friday when Jisoo woke up, her roommate was nowhere in sight. A usual scenario. Does he really wake up early? But the classes start at ten and it’s only seven. She badly wanted to introduce herself to his roommate so they can get along but he looks cold and unapproachable. The girl only sighed as she sat on her bed, what should she do now?
With her PE uniform, she went outside and decided to explore the school before she could eat breakfast. The school is somewhat large, bigger than the school she used to go to in middle school. And since it’s a boys' school, it’s understandable that the facilities were larger. She was actually amazed at how big the soccer field is, as well as the outdoor basketball court.
Going to one of the buildings, she was surprised to find out that there are music rooms and dance rooms. Her twin brother will really have the best of his life here, she just hoped that his training will end faster and he'll return early.
Faint music can be heard from one of the rooms by the hallway and she decided to take a peek, surprised to see the small space empty. To satisfy her curiosity, she went inside and was greeted by the smell of paint, eyeing the picture on the canvas as the main source of the sensation. It was a really lovely painting of a woman, someone obviously older and would pass off as a mom. "What are you doing here?" someone asked from outside which startled her, causing her to stumble forward and crashing on the canvas while splattering the paint all over the painting.
Jisoo was so scared at the moment, she just messed up someone's lovely painting because of her clumsiness. "I'm sorry," she mumbled as tears started forming from her eyes. "I'm really a big mess." she claimed, sitting on the floor and watching how the canvas absorbed the paint, completely ruining the painting.
The guy from earlier chuckled, then sat in front of her. "I'm supposed to throw that anyway. You did me a favor, honestly." Then he stopped when he noticed the tears flowing from her cheeks. "Why are you crying?" he panicked which made her look at him. She immediately recognized him as the guy who helped her before, the angelic vice president.
A surprised expression can be seen on his face and she knows that he recognizes her, maybe he'll think that she's a really big clumsy mess now. The guy in glasses laughed and she immediately noticed the snaggle tooth that made him cute in her eyes. "You are a walking disaster, aren't you?" And that was the worst thing that someone can say to her. "Is your ankle alright?"
She nodded and he smiled warmly, handing her a handkerchief. "For a guy, you are pretty sensitive." And she took that back, that was the worst comment ever. What would they think of Jihoo when he gets back? A wimp like her?
Jisoo hastily wiped away her tears, "I'm sorry." she claimed before leaving the vice president looking at her in surprise and the painting already soaked with paint. She decided to go back to her dorm room and change her uniform when she bumped into someone. Maybe that guy is right, she really is a walking disaster. "I'm sorry." And she realized how many times she had said that already, is this her normal day in school? Before the guy could say anything, she walked away as if nothing happened.
Mark was looking at the student who just bumped him, maybe a freshman. But why is he crying? It's only the first week of class, is it tiring to be here? He sighed, why do they even need to exert effort for themselves in this school? The guys cannot even get thrilled or motivated to study but what can he even do? "Renjun," he called, surprised to see the guy seated on the floor of the art room. "What are you doing on the floor?" He then noticed the painting with splattered paint on it. "What happened?" But the other just shook his head and he decided to let it go.
Mark was about to leave to check on other rooms when the guy called for him. "President, we should really hire a school nurse," Renjun claimed eyeing a red blot on the floor which obviously didn't come from the blue paint that was splattered on the floor. "Lee Haechan knows someone. I already asked the headmaster about it."
That took Mark's attention, Haechan knows a school nurse and it already reached his father? "Why didn't you inform me first?" he asked before running away that left Renjun surprised. Why is he suddenly reacting like that?
-----
Jisoo found herself in the schoolyard and felt pain in her arm. Checking on it, she saw a deep cut that surprised her. How did she get hurt like this? Her first instinct was to go to the clinic to get treated then remembered the vice president saying that there is no school nurse present. She just headed back to her dorm room and got something to wrap her cut. She found a lavender handkerchief on the desk and started wrapping her cut just as her phone rang with Jisung asking her for breakfast.
"Jihoo, what's that?" Jisung asked, pointing at the arm with the handkerchief wrapped on it but the other just shrugged. "Are you sure? Did you hurt yourself?" She honestly doesn't want to seem so clumsy, why is she always hurt like this? The tall guy just gave her a questioning look that made Chenle laugh.
"Is that your handkerchief?" the Chinese boy asked as they lined up for their breakfast. "It looks so girly." Jisoo wanted to laugh, look who's talking when his shirt is light pink and blue? But then, she wondered why she had this handkerchief. Didn't she pack just Jihoo's things and refrained from packing hers? Why is this light purple handkerchief on the desk?
The answer came to her when a tall guy with blonde hair glared at her and pulled her up. "Didn't your parents tell you not to touch someone else's things?" he asked then held her arm that made her wince in pain. A stain of blood started to become visible on the handkerchief that made the guy held her tighter, pressing for more blood flow. Jisoo cannot say anything now that she's in pain and her friends cannot even react since he's a sunbae, a scary one of that.
The guy pulled the handkerchief from her arm then pushed her forcefully that her injured arm bumped on the table. The boys were just looking at the guy who left and Jisung helped Jisoo stand up. "We should..." But her vision started to blur before she could hear Jisung's words.
----
The coffee shop has always been so busy now that a young man is helping her in serving the customers. It all started when he was forced to help her since it was a jam-packed afternoon. A certain group of girls posted on their social media about the hot new waiter in the coffee shop. Girls from the neighboring school came to check on the trending boy that made the shop as noisy as ever.
"That would be sixty won," Eunbyul claimed to the group of girls that were looking at Jeno who was pacing back and forth with drinks at hand. To her defense, he does look charming while smiling at the starstruck customers. The girls gave her the payment after squealing when the smiling Jeno looked their way that made the older shake her head.
Since break time from the said university is over, she knew that the busy stance of the restaurant would come to a close. It's not that she's tired but she's worried about Jeno who still had a bandage on his arm from the injury he had. "Are you tired?" the younger asked when he caught her tapping her legs because of a cramp while standing too long. She shook her head, asking him the same question while gazing at the bandage on his arm. "I'm fine. Surprisingly, it doesn't hurt that much."
A week of staying together, Jeno already found out that Eunbyul is preparing for her nursing certificate and just continued her parent's business of the coffee shop. He never told her his age or where he goes to school, just saying that he can take a break for as long as he can. She just nodded although disappointment can be seen in her features. He had also witnessed countless guys hitting on the girl, older and more mature than him, but she never laid eyes on them. Maybe he has a shot on this girl.
The chimes opened to the shop and as usual, the two looked at the person coming in that surprised Jeno. "Yah Lee Jeno!" The said guy only stared at the girl who looked curious then pulled his friend. "Are you really staying here? I've been looking all over for you." The guy just shook his head, calming his raging friend. "Is she taking you hostage? She can get to jail for making you work..."
"Na Jaemin!" Jeno shouted then breathed heavily. "Why are you in such a bad mood? Let's just talk outside." he said while pushing him out of the shop, surprising the older girl.
She's holding him hostage? So that kid might be rich. And if she's getting in jail for making him work, then he must be underage. What has she done? Maybe Haechan is right. She is so trusting.
From outside, she could see how his friend was dragging Jeno away from the shop even if he kept looking back. That would be better, at least he's going back even if it meant sales will decrease. At least now, she won't be scared of getting in jail for housing an underage guy.
------
"Are you that smitten over that girl?" Jaemin asked while literally dragging Jeno to school. "Mark had been on my back because he kept looking for you." That made the other guy pissed off. Why is Mark looking for him right now? Is it their dad's order again? "I didn't believe that you were working in that shop at first but everyone kept on tagging your social media so I needed to check." he nagged that made the other sigh, stopping on his tracks and staring longingly at the café he just left. Noticing this, Jaemin stopped as well and gave a breathy sigh at the new image presented by his bestfriend. "Yah, who are you and what have you done with Lee Jeno?"
"You know what?" Jeno asked which made the other look at him in surprise. "You're right." Jaemin had to smile at that. Does this mean that Jeno, his bestfriend, is indeed back for good? "We're still not late for dismissal, right?"
The two started making their way to school when Jeno caught sight of something from Jaemin's pocket, something girly. "What is that?" he asked, then pulled the handkerchief from him, revealing a red spot that surprised the guy. "Did you kill someone?"
Jaemin started shaking his head then stared at the reddish part of the handkerchief. Damn it, why did he ruin this? "Someone just used this handkerchief," he said while gritting his teeth. "It actually annoyed me." This made Jeno smirk, a new prospect to their ever growing list of people to bully.
When the duo went back to school, everyone's eyes were on them obviously scared to cross paths with them. Jeno smiled, this is the thrill he's looking for, not waiting tables just because of a pretty girl. But he can't seem to shake off her from his mind. Is he crazy? "Where's that new kid pissing you off?" he asked, making Jaemin surprised. Already? But he just got back to school.
From the end of the hallway, they can easily spot Mark. He looked like he's going outside. Maybe to see this girl he had been crushing at. "Pathetic loser," he mumbled under his breath. How can he keep liking the same girl for eight years without even making a move on her? And an older girl? His tutor? That's really pathetic.
But then, older girls are not that bad. Especially if they are really matured and sympathetic. Someone really pretty with a lovely smile. No, this is bad. Jeno thought. He's not crazy but he's having a crush. And on an older girl at that. But why doesn't it seem pathetic like Mark's?
-------
Jisoo woke up with the light blinding her, where is she? And what happened to her? “Hey, are you alright?” Haechan asked, making her nod, sitting up. There’s no one inside the clinic but the two of them and she looked at the part of her body that’s hurting, surprised to see hasty bandaging. “What happened to your arm? Do you know that if noona knows about this, we’ll both get killed?” he asked in worry that made her sigh. Maybe going to a boys’ school really is a bad idea.
“Mianhe oppa,” she whispered that made Haechan shake his head. “I guess I really don’t belong here. I hope Jihoo oppa can replace me now' she stated that made the other guy sigh. Of course, this is all his fault. They should have listened to their noona when she said that it was a bad idea. But here they are.
Haechan shook his head. “You’re doing fine, Jisoo.” he complimented. “Just know that guys are a little brute so a simple accident will cause really great harm,” he claimed then gazed at her wounded arm. “Should we go and see noona?” he asked which made her look at him in surprise. See her like this? The older will definitely have a fit. “She’ll know what to do about you.” Surprisingly, Jisoo nodded which made the older smile.
Honestly, she’s seeing Haechan in a new light. She’s used to having him as a cute guy with lots of aegyo in front of her Eunbyul unnie but with his standing at the boys’ school, as a junior student and her sunbae, he seemed rather matured like his sister. Maybe if Eunbyul can see him now, she’ll be proud of her little brother.
The first thing that Jisoo noticed going to the coffee shop is how she really managed everything. This was honestly her dream, to have a small coffee shop and instead of studying for college, she’ll just take care of it. Unlike Jihoo who liked the spotlight, she just wants to live a simple life. “Unnie,” she called seeing her by the counter. But instead of being happy to see her, the older one looked rather worried. Isn’t she happy to see her? When Eunbyul glanced at the left side of the shop, Jisoo realized why. The school council president.
Mark only sighed as he was seated beside Haechan, in front of the two girls who kept on bowing as an apology. Letting a girl enter the school is an insult to the academy enough but that only means that something is definitely wrong with the system. Then there’s Eunbyul who is more mature and knows the risks of these actions yet she lets them do what they want. “It’s just until Jihoo gets back from training that Jisoo is filling him in.” the oldest explained and again Mark sighed. So this is why she wanted to take care of him? And why he - she rather - was crying that time at the art room.
“You do know that if dad finds out about this…” he started then lightly glanced at Haechan. “Everyone involved will be kicked out.” Eunbyul nodded, knowing that even before. But what can she do? They're already here. She can't blow Jihoo's chances to get into a good school and be a trainee. “And that if Haechan and I keep an eye on Jisoo-shii all the time, it will just raise suspicion.” Again, she nodded. That was right. “So noona, you should really work at school now.”
Eunbyul blinked in surprise. Mark is right. That's the only thing she can do now. Earlier, he told her about his dad wanting to hire her as a school nurse but she refused since she’s not licensed yet but he assured her that it's only a temporary position. “Work at school?” Haechan asked which made Mark nod. The girl almost laughed at her brother’s face. He was the one who gave the idea to them so why is he so surprised now? “You can’t. Boys at our school are wolves. They’ll eat you alive.”
The older girl glanced at Jisoo, she can take care of her if she works at school. Besides, Mark said that it isn’t really a full-time job and that she can still go home. “It’s fine, Haechan. I’m already old, they can’t bother me.” But Haechan shook his head and Mark sighed. “Let’s fix your bandaging. she told Jisoo who followed her to the backroom of the shop. Haechan was just whining at Mark, telling him to stop his noona from making the worst mistake of her life.
In the end, it was still Eunbyul’s yearning to take care of Jisoo that won, making her brother pissed off. “Don’t come to me crying if something bad happens.” Haechan warned that made Eunbyul nod. Really? Who’s the older one here?
Haechan just walked away without a word and Jisoo apologized once again. She had never seen Haechan this angry and it was all because of her. Eunbyul just shook her head. “It’s fine, Haechan is just like that sometimes.”
Mark told Jisoo to get to her dorm room since curfew will begin soon which she easily complied to. He brought the older to the clinic and she checked the facility. “It’s been so long since we had a school nurse. They would rather resign or be terminated.” When she asked why Mark just smiled. “Getting in a relationship with a student.” And she nodded, understanding it clearly. “Noona, don’t be too nice to all of them. Be strict if you have to.” He told him the basic rules in the dormitory and she listened intently. “If a student here lays a finger at you, just tell me.”
Eunbyul giggled, this is a really different Mark Lee from way before. When did he grow up like this? “Neh, President.” she teased that made the other laugh. He said that he’s going first since he had council duties and she nodded, checking the bandages and ointments. “Mark, thank you for doing this. I’m really sorry for putting you in a difficult position.” she said sincerely that made him shake his head.
“Anything for you, noona.”
------
Mark was in a good mood that Jeno found it odd during dinner, did he get laid or something? “Did you get a new school nurse?” their dad asked and Mark smiled before nodding. Jeno smirked, so this guy likes the school nurse. Maybe it was the noona he had liked from before. Seriously, he looked disgusting smiling like that. Now, he made sure to piss him off.

Every day is a hectic day inside the coffee shop, that was what Eunbyul thought. But today, there are only a few customers in the coffee shop she’s working at. The location of the shop was a great help during the weekends, since it’s near the library, but not so much during the weekdays when there are classes.
The bell chimes disturbed her boring afternoon and she smile at the person who just went inside. “Hi noona.” He greeted in a chic manner that made her giggle. “I’ll have the usual.” He then handed her some cash for his drink. Eunbyul just nodded, watching the young guy walk to a certain table by the window. He immediately took out his books then rubbed his eyes with a sigh.
The girl shook her head as she finished the watermelon shake he had always liked. “You’re overworking yourself again, Mark Lee.” She claimed while putting down the mug and a plate of chocolate cake. The guy looked at her in curiosity, he didn’t order the cake. Maybe she had made a mistake. “It’s on the house.”
Mark smiled. Well, she’s naturally like this. “Noona, do you need something?” he asked, making her smile. He knew her too well. “Is this about Haechan? He’s actually doing well in school.”
Eunbyul sat on the chair in front of him, eyeing the books laid out in front of him. “It’s not about him, he’s good at taking care of himself.” She assured then took his Physics book, skimming its contents. “It’s about Jihoo…” she started. “He’s going to your academy now and unlike Haechan, he’s a little bit clumsy.”
The brown haired guy just chuckled at that. “Okay noona, don’t worry about it.” He said with a nod. “I don’t remember Jihoo though.”
“He’s the guy who likes to dance.” She shared then stopped. That is the real Jihoo, what if Mark asks Jisoo to dance and she can’t? Should she tell Mark? But that would be really dangerous so she preferred to keep it like what Haechan suggested. “The one with the twin sister.”
His eyebrows furrowed in curiosity, why can’t he remember that? “I’ll just ask Haechan about it or I might meet him during one of our classes.” Eunbyul just nodded, taking in his words that made him smile. “Is that all, noona?”
The girl was surprised at the question. This was honestly the first time she asked Mark for a favor and he answered that way. Normally, he would be shy and tell her ‘yes’ in a quiet way. She just nodded with a smile. “And can you stop overworking yourself? You’re doing great, Mark.” He only smiled at the compliment, putting back his Physics book to the other stack of books. “You’re already a grown up, studying Physics all by yourself.”
“Noona, I was in elementary when we first met.” He stated as if it’s a fact that made her surprised. “I’m in senior year already.” So they knew each other for that long already? When did the time fly by that fast? “Are you going to take your examination certificate this year?” he asked which made her shrug. Now that he mentioned it, maybe it really is time to get her nursing certificate and change her career. “You should start studying for that noona instead of worrying about little things.”
The older only laughed as an answer as the bell chimes can be heard. “Look at you, you’re already a grown up Mark Lee.” She complimented while ruffling his hair on the way to greeting the new customer.
Mark only sighed as he watched her smile at the man by the counter, she’s the only one who thinks of him as a kid anyway. What should he do to make her see him as a man instead of the kid she met before? The shop became busier as the afternoon passed and he found himself just watching her move around the establishment and smiling at everyone rather than studying. This is dangerous, he thought, he went here to study peacefully and not to get distracted by her. But there’s no one to blame but himself.
When he was young, he thought of it as a simple crush. Everyone had that kind of crush, whether it’s your first grade teacher or your playmate next door. In his case, that would be his Math tutor. A simple crush, harmless and cute. But there’s no such thing as a harmless crush in this world for he fell hard.
The girl just waved goodbye at the Mark when he bid farewell, claiming that he still had to do some council duties. Honestly, it’s still a mystery why that guy insisted on studying at the library nearby or spend time in their coffee shop when they had their own library in school. She wished Haechan could go out like him sometimes but that kid would just spend his time in his room, like what Mark would often say, either playing games or practicing his singing. Maybe she can ask Jisoo to come visit her sometime so that they can have some chit chats and for her to take a break from pretending to be a guy. Maybe she can do that.
----
When Mark arrived at the council room, Renjun was already typing something that made him curious. Is there another incident in school to report? Should he spend more time inside the campus? But he liked going somewhere to unwind and forget about being the council president for some time. Besides, he liked watching Eunbyul smiling that he’s not regretting letting Renjun take care of everything.
“Did Jeno attend class today?” he asked which made the other guy shake his head. Mark just sighed, what should he do to make his half-brother go to his classes? “I’ll report it to appa so…”
Renjun stared at the older, stopping what he was doing. “The headmaster went to our class today and knew that Jeno didn’t come to class.” He shared that made the older hiss. There’s no stopping them now. “And president, we badly need a school nurse. Someone got injured today because of the duo.”
Mark rubbed his temples. This was the fourth time that the school nurse resigned and they needed to hire another one. How can his father overlook the need of a nurse? “Who’s the student who got injured? Is he okay?” The vice president nodded before muttering a name that surprised Mark, ‘Park Jihoo’. Oh God, Mark exclaimed in his mind, Eunbyul will kill him.
-----
“Do you think Mark told you off?” Jaemin asked on the phone that made Jeno laugh bitterly. If there are two people who Jeno hated right now, that would be his dad and his favorite son, Mark. “What are you going to do now?” he asked as he entered his room, surprised to hear someone humming coming from the bathroom. So his new roommate is a neat freak?
The guy from the other line shrugged. “Going out, probably.” He answered that made Jaemin nod although he couldn't see him. That would be the best way to calm his dad or Jeno might get hit again. “I’m hanging up. I have to go to class tomorrow.” And they both turned off their phones.
Jaemin was about to get his towel by the bathroom when the door opened and his roommate came in view, already dressed for bedtime in jogging pants and a black shirt. Before he could say anything, he started sneezing that surprised Jisoo. That was quite a welcome. Another sneeze and the older wave his hand to make her move away from his path to the bathroom. Another sneeze before he closed the door, leaving the younger looking at him in surprise.
Jisoo was surprised that unlike the lanky guys in her class, her roommate was kind of handsome. But what’s with the sneezing? She settled on his bed upstairs, staring at her sprained ankle and the messy bandage that Jisung and Chenle did. She was almost done when her roommate went out of the bathroom and closed the lights, without saying a word. Maybe he really is that quiet.
Thinking back to what happened the whole day, she was thankful that it passed without someone discovering her or it would be trouble. She wasn’t even sure if it was a good thing but she’s enjoying this new adventure that she doesn’t want to think about it too much. Maybe she should just focus her energy in pretending instead of worrying about it so that no one can discover her tomorrow. Yes, maybe she can really do it.
Sighing, she turned to see her roommate already lying down in his own bed with his eyes closed. He’s already sleeping? But it’s still early. What year is he in? And will they get along? She hoped yes so that Jihoo wouldn’t have any problems when he comes back to school.
------
Eunbyul was typing a message for Jisoo to ask her about school today then decided to erase it. What is she even worried about? Haechan is there to take care of her and she even told Mark about it. Since it was late, she decided to lock the doors to the coffee shop and head home early. Maybe she’ll get some dinner first then a bottle of beer to calm down from these worries.
She was surprised when someone held her shoulders and forcefully dragged her away from the shop. She wanted to scream for help but he started covering her mouth as he dragged her to the back alley of the shop. “Don’t squirm, you’re making me excited.” He whispered, scaring the hell out of her.
Her eyes focused on his face as he pushed her to the wall. He was a customer inside the shop earlier, the one who ordered the two shots of espresso and stayed for an hour. The man blocked her body with his strong frame as he started unbuckling his belt that made her scream for help, hoping that someone was in the area to hear her.
He was quick to cover her mouth with his hand and took a pocket knife with the other hand. “Shout or I’ll definitely kill you.” That made the tears fall from her eyes. This is it, she might not be able to see her brother anymore. She should have sent that message to Jisoo and maybe she’ll call her so that this event wouldn’t happen. The only thing she can do now is pray that someone can find her or hope that this man has mercy and not kill her as she closed her eyes.
The only thing she heard before opening her eyes was a loud blow of wind and something like a bone breaking, surprised to see another guy in front of her and the pervert on the floor. The younger guy landed a punch on the older's face, then another after another. “Yah. Stop it, you’ll kill him.” She claimed that made the guy look at him. He looks so young, is he a student? But what is he doing out this late? And why does he have those bruises on his face? Is he a thug?
The younger groan as he fell on the ground and she saw the knife dripping with blood. Her eyes widened in surprise, what did she do? Police sirens can be heard that made the older run away. She rushed to the younger's side, eyeing the forming blood. “I have to bring you to the hospital…” she started, getting her phone from her pocket but he just swatted her hand away that made her drop her phone. “Yah!”
He only smiled, holding his arm that was full of blood. “Don’t call anyone. This pain is nothing.” He claimed that made her surprised, what is he saying? Is he already delirious? “You don’t want me to kill him, maybe he’ll be the one to kill me instead.” He said with a smile that made her annoyed, what the heck is wrong with this kid?
The police sirens were too distant now that even if she wanted to scream, she’s sure no one would come to help them. Additional would be the fact that this kid has a bloody arm, a bloody lip, and bruises on his face that no one would probably give attention to him. He really does look like a thug. “You won’t die.” She assured as she removed her shirt, revealing a tank top inside and started ripping the material of her shirt. “This is only a first aid. We should go to the hospital.” She claimed as she started tying a makeshift bandage on his arm.
The guy shook his head, wincing at how tight the bandage is. “I’ll be fine. I don’t care about dying here anyways, you can just leave me.” But the girl shook her head, sighing at the pessimistic attitude. “I’m happy to see a girl undressing before me before I die though.”
How can he still make jokes like that? “You really don’t want to go to the hospital?” she asked while searching for her phone that he yanked away from her. “Can you walk? Let's go to the coffee shop in front.” He nodded then stood up that surprised her, this kid really is no joke.
She found the keys in her bag, using it to open the shop. But the challenge was opening the door since it’s always stuck whenever she would lock it. Sensing her discomfort, the guy helped her out by pushing the door that shocked her. Is he really injured? How can he push that with a bloody arm?
The guy settled on the seat by the window, watching as the rain started with its pitter patter. She came back with a first aid kit and sat beside him. “Your arm.” She asked and he complied immediately without any word. Eunbyul removed her makeshift bandage, throwing it in the bin then rolled his sleeves up until she saw the cut on his arm. It’s pretty deep and would probably take some time to heal. “You should really get this treated, this will become dangerous.”
“I told you it’s fine. The hospital wouldn’t even help anyways.” He claimed nonchalantly and was about to unroll his sleeves when she held his arm, sighing. “If you feel bad, you can just let me stay here tonight.”
The girl just stared at him, deciding that she indeed felt bad for him. And if not for him, she'll be the one hurt. “I’m thankful so you can stay here.” She claimed then started wiping antiseptic on his wound, bandaging it as well. “But don’t you have classes tomorrow?” The sentence made him surprised but smiled as if masking the shock. Eunbyul smiled seeing how his eyes arc whenever he smiles, this kid is charming. “Don’t tell me you’re not a student. College kids get into fights very often. What’s your name?”
The guy smiled once again, looking surprised at her. “You’re speaking informally. You really are dead set that I’m a student.” He commented that made her raise an eyebrow at him as if challenging him. “Lee Jeno.” Jeno? That is a really unique and pretty name. This kid might be well-off. If he’s a college student who always gets into fights, then he might be really wealthy to not care about grades. “Do you own this coffee shop?”
Eunbyul only nodded as an answer, leaning in to dab some medicine for the cut on his lip. “Kids like you should just study and prevent getting into fights.” She whispered while putting band aid on the wound by his cheek. “Get a college degree and make girls fall for you.”
Jeno smiled once again. “Are you falling for me, noona?” His tone was really flirty and she was suddenly surprised at how a younger guy made her heart thump like that.
She sighed before smiling at him. “I don’t fall for younger guys.” She claimed then stood up, “I’ll get some ice for your bruise. Do you want some coffee?” The younger just nodded, watching her move to the counter and starting the coffee machine. She doesn’t like younger guys? Does she have some experience of getting heartbroken by a younger boyfriend? Maybe he can change that.

The auditorium was filled with boys. Well, what does she expect in a boys’ school? They are actually noisier than when girls flock around since they talk about games and animation, even loudly cursing as if it's a normal expression. The mic boomed as she sat beside Jisung at the back seat of the auditorium. An old man, probably the principal, started speaking that made the boys look at him in a bored way. This is actually really entertaining; she can discover a world filled with boys that she doesn’t know about.
The microphone was passed to a guy wearing glasses and he welcomed everyone with his speech. She found out that he’s a fourth year student and the school council president named Mark Lee. Another guy was beside him and was introduced as the vice president, Huang Renjun. “Mark hyung’s dad owns the school.” Jisung noted and Jisoo nodded. Wow, she thought, what a rich guy.
After the so-called orientation, they were asked to return to their dorm rooms and wear their uniforms for classroom orientations. Maybe she’ll meet her roommate and maybe go to class with him. But then, two guys walking to class together would be so awkward so she didn’t ponder about it. When she was changing her uniform inside the bathroom, she heard shuffling from outside and quickly went out only to have the door closed on her. She just missed her roommate, maybe later.
Passing by her roommate’s space, she discovered different sachets of coffee that made her laugh. So he liked coffee, just like her Eunbyul unnie. Maybe they could bond over coffee flavors later. Glancing at her watch, she realized that she’s almost late and started running to her homeroom.
The room was really noisy with different sounds of video games and a ball bouncing on the floor. She can’t believe that these people are first years like her, why are they so tall? But then again, those two guys from earlier were really tall. Is this the difference between a man and a woman? She settled on the back row to avoid attention, what if they discover that she’s a girl on the first day?
“Jihoo-yah!” someone called that made her turn to the door, seeing Jisung. Oh yeah, she remembered that he said that they’re classmates. “Let’s sit next to each other. Chenle is in his class already.”
That made the girl look at him in confusion. If Chenle is older and Chinese, why does he and Jisung look like they’re best friends? “Are you and Chenle really close?” she asked in curiosity just as he sat on the empty seat beside her. Jisung just nodded as the teacher entered the room. Of course, it’s also a guy. Unlike female teachers from her previous school, he didn’t say much and just wrote his name on the board as he told the class the page that they should read. If this is how class is, she’ll pass it with a breeze.
The second class is just like the first since it’s the first day but what made her anxious is the upcoming lunchtime. Honestly, she wasn’t used to eating alone since there’s her twin brother who eats with her or she’ll just go home and eat with her unnie if she isn’t busy with work. But now, there’s no one to eat with. Should she ask Haechan to eat with her?
“Jihoo.” Jisung called when their third class ended that made her turn to him. “Do you want to eat lunch together? Let’s call Chenle.” He said cheerfully that made her smile. She can’t believe that she’s having a friend like this. But it’s better than being alone.
Once outside the homeroom, Jisung had shared that he and Chenle became friends because of a dance performance they did back in China. She was even surprised when she found out that Jisung is the Korean representative of the said event. “Chenle was so curious of Korea that he decided to transfer here.” He shared that made her nod. These kids really are no joke. Now he wondered why her brother wanted to attend this school in the first place.
They were almost in the second-year classrooms when someone rushed on the hallways using a hoverboard and bumped into her, causing her to fall in someone’s arm. The tall brown haired guy, who bumped her, didn’t even stop. Who was that? She felt pain in her foot and realized that her ankle is now twisted. This is a really great welcome for her first day of school. “Are you alright?” a guy in glasses asked and she remembered him as the vice president from earlier. What was his name again?
Jisoo winced when she tried to move away from his arms that made him look at her ankle. “Jihoo-yah, did you sprain your ankle?” Jisung asked that made the older student kneel in front of her to check her ankle. “We should bring you to the clinic.”
The other guy shook his head. “We don’t have a nurse at the moment so we’ll have to put first aid on his ankle first.” He explained that made the two of them look at him in confusion, what’s a school without a nurse? “First year, can you ask for some hot compress in the cafeteria?”
But before Jisung could leave, Jisoo stopped him in his tracks. Hot compress? “Shouldn’t it be some ice pack?” she asked that made the two guys look at her. “I mean when un…” then she stopped, realizing what she would have said. “A noona would often treat my hyung cold compress whenever he sprains his ankle.” She explained, recalling how her Eunbyul unnie would treat her brother’s swelling ankles at times.
The guy in glasses nodded, asking Jisung to get some ice packs for her swelling feet. “What should we do next?” he asked while staring straight at her. Jisoo was surprised at that gaze. Why does he look so charming? Maybe it was the blushing of her face that made the guy squint his eyes to fully look at her, “Why are you staring at me like that?” he asked but she can’t remove her eyes off him. Why is his face so angelic? Can a guy really be this beautiful?
“Jihoo.” Someone called that made her turn to the owner of the voice, breathing heavily for the distraction. “What happened to you?” he asked in pure worry then shook his head. “Noona will kill me at what happened to you.”
Renjun lightly glanced at Haechan who bowed at him. “Noona? Your older sister?” he asked which made the other guy nodded. “The noona who treats your hyung’s sprained ankle?” he asked while pointing at Jisoo that made her gulp.
Is it alright with Haechan to have a connection with her? How can she explain their relationship? That his family adopted her and her brother to live with them since they’re practically orphans now. “It’s a long story. Why?” Haechan asked Renjun who just shook his head. “You should put an ice pack on that. What happened?”
Renjun stood up then sighed loudly. “Next time, don’t go near Jaemin or Jeno. Wait for your friend for the ice pack, I’ll just report this to the teacher and come back to check on you.” He said calmly that made Jisoo nod as he left the two of them.
What was that? She can’t decipher his words. Don’t go near who? “This is quite a welcome, getting sprained by Jaemin and Jeno,” Haechan claimed that answered her thoughts. Jaemin? Jeno? Who are they? Are they the students who were riding the hoverboards earlier? This is an accident; why would she need to stay away from them? “Be careful here in the Academy, Jisoo.” Haechan claimed in a soft voice that surprised her.
Maybe there’s something more in this academy than just pretty boys and rowdy guys.

“Boys’ school?” Eunbyul asked which made the guy nod. “Wait, Park Jihoo, you’re really going to send your younger sister to a boys’ school?” Once again, the guy nodded that made the older girl look at the younger girl they were talking about. Jisoo was just staring in wonder at how she got involved in this dilemma.
There are only two people left in their family now, she and her twin brother. It was nice for Eunbyul’s family to take them in when their parents died in a car crash when they were still in middle school. “It’s only for five months. I’ll just finish my training.” Jihoo noted while looking at the young girl. “Besides, it’s not like this was the first time that she’s pretending to be me.”
Well, that was correct. Sometimes, Eunbyul’s mom would even mistake the two especially when Jisoo cut her hair like Jihoo's. “But still, that is a dorm school. What if Jisoo gets caught?” the older asked, still worrying about the younger girl. Her unnie really is the smartest person there is in their family. Maybe because they're her responsibility now. “Yah Lee Haechan, say something.”
Eunbyul’s brother who remained silent the whole time shook his head. “Noona, shouldn’t Jisoo be the one who should react that way?” he stated logically then stared at the younger girl. “Don’t listen to the two of them. What do you want to do?”
Jisoo gulped, as expected of Haechan. “It’s only five months. I think I’ll help oppa.” The older girl sighed.
“Boys are animals, Jisoo.” Eunbyul claimed that made Jihoo snicker. “As you can see from them.” Haechan laughed which made the older more annoyed. “Yah Lee Haechan, you should take care of Jisoo while she’s at your school.”
Jihoo smiled. “See noona, there’s nothing to worry about.” Jisoo nodded at the sighing older girl.
Haechan argued with his sister that morning on whether she should come with Jisoo, claiming that it will just blow her cover. The older only sighed. It was nice that Haechan is somewhat matured that Jisoo trusts him. But the older one just gave her a worried look. “Noona, you sound like an eomma. Can you just please let go of Jisoo? She’ll be fine.” The younger said with aegyo that made the twins cringe in disgust.
Eunbyul just ruffled her younger brother’s hair. “Yah, just take care of Jisoo.” She said that made him smile while nodding. The older girl stared at the youngest of them and smiled. “You really look like Jihoo.” She complimented. What is she even worried about? She can definitely do this.
Once she stepped inside the campus of the academy, Jisoo felt her stomach churning. She’s now Park Jihoo, a guy. She has to live here comfortably to make it easier for her oppa in the future. “Are you ready, Jihoo-shii?” Haechan asked which made her nod. Is she ready for this? The first thing that she did was to look around campus, surprised to see a lot of students already. Why are they so early? “We have to go to the admissions office first and give your documents.”
Jisoo was surprised, why is Haechan so nice like this? Naturally, he’s the naughty type, someone who doesn’t care about her so it’s a total surprise that he’s helping her like this. Maybe because his noona asked him. Everyone knows how kind he is when it comes to his only sibling. So it might probably be it. “Op…” She was about to call but the guy looked at her in surprise that made her shake her head. “Hyung, I’ll be fine. I can file the documents alone.” She claimed while rubbing the back of her neck, surprised that her hair was cut too short. “Helping me would be kind of awkward.”
Haechan just nodded at her, pointing to where the office is before heading his own way. This is it, Jisoo thought, her first step to being her brother. She blew her bangs then made a fist with her hand. “Fighting, Jihoo!” She said to herself then held her luggage tight, walking to the admission office. It was nerve-wracking while heading inside, this is her first step in becoming Park Jihoo. “Just five months, Jisoo. You can do this.” She whispered to herself.
She was surprised when someone bumped into her while playing basketball. Two boys bowed at her and she bowed back. “I’m sorry.” One of the guys claimed then smiled. “Are you a transferee?” he asked that made her shake her head. “Then you must be a first year.” He said enthusiastically. “We’re classmates.” And Jisoo nodded at how excited he sounded. “I’m Park Jisung.” He introduced then pointed at the other guy beside him. “This is Zhong Chenle, he’s from China.”
Jisoo just smiled. That’s too much information. “I’m Park Jihoo.” Surprisingly, the admissions office is not that crowded. Maybe she’s enrolled late. After passing the needed papers, she bowed at the teacher and headed out, only to be greeted by both Jisung and Chenle.
“What dorm are you in?” Jisung asked and she showed her card key. “We’ll walk you to your room.” And even if she kept on refusing, he was adamant to make friends with her. What is with this school?
The school is really big, considering that it’s one of the most sought after schools in Seoul. Chenle opened the door for her and she was amazed at how big the room is. “Your roommate’s things are here.” Jisung noted. “You’ll probably occupy the bed upstairs.” He claimed that made Jisoo nod.
Chenle was busy with his phone when a certain notification was heard. “Jisung, Mark hyung wants us in the auditorium for orientation.” He said in complete hurry that made the younger nod. “Jihoo, you should come with us.” And he nodded although not sure what’s happening. Well, she just needs to trust these guys if she wants to survive in this academy.
