love how sonic and tails are written as unlikely brothers with complementary traits to support the trope (hero/sidekick), but

when the narrative does get into the ways they ARE alike? tickles my brain in the best way 

anyway personal headcanons abt tails and sonic eventually morphing into the same fucking person under the cut

when tails thumbs his nose and grins, wide and unabashed, people see it and go, oh. sonic’s grin. the brothers emulating mannerisms!

tails masters the dark art of the trash talk growing up. sonic's wiping a single tear from his eye as we speak. kid can be MERCILESS

tails realizing he loves to show off just like his big brother!!! pulling off a hairpin turn in the tornado just because he can. scaring the bejeezus out of people who love him. people watch him lead impossible missions and go, yeah. yeah, that’s sonic’s kid, no doubt about it

sonic sees a bowl of mints and tosses a bunch in his mouth. yeah i'm sick of these things, he swears as he crunches on them. loudly. his quills smell like peppermint. the stuff reminds him of his weird lil bro ok. so what if he knows all the best brands.

when sonic's out solo-adventuring, tails chases adrenaline highs. he pushes mach seven, eight, nine on the tornado. it relaxes him--watching the speedometer tick up, the world blur by, finally the right speed

sonic and his date go fine dining and sonic's table etiquette? impeccable. simply exquisite. i'm not feral all the time, sonic scoffs. but really tails took all those lessons from the orphanage seriously and doesnt like the thought of sonic - who grew up in the forest - to feel unconfident in these situations. his hero deserves the best!!!!
