hi :) will you post again when korra book 4 airs? i hope we'll get some flashbacks from zuzu's past :) watching his daughter im not sure if he married mai though :( or maybe he had some divorces and new marriages hehe - id like it as well tbh.

If there are Mai/Zuko content, we'll try to! We actually think she looks a lot like Mai and we love the glasses. We're excited to learn more about her. Not sure how we'd feel about divorces and new marriages, Zuko just does not seem like the type.

I’m up early putting the last pieces in place for my lecture at RISD (tonight, 10/14/13 at 7:00 in the Main Auditorium) and I came across this forgotten gem that I inked in 2007. I always imagined Mai kept giving the royal portrait artist the same note, over and over: “More black.”

Do you think Maiko gets the hate, and also love, it gets because of its emphasis on body language? Like Zuko and Mai don't really say 'I love you' or anything affectionate like that, but you can tell they do because they're always close together. It's kind of non-traditional romance in a way.

How physical Mai/Zuko are with each other is such a breath of fresh air for fictional couples on-screen (animated or not) and I think it’s definitely one of the factors for people liking them so much. As for “hate”, well I guess it really depends on the person. If they’re advocates of the traditional way of courtship or not is really up to the person and it may or may not affect their perceptions of the ship. Maiko gets hate for other reasons, though-- reasons best left unsaid. ^^
