Exciting news! I’m getting ready to go to Miami this summer for an amazing summer associate position I got at a big time law firm! My imposter syndrome is affecting me pretty heavily but I’m trying to put that aside so I can maintain my excitement for my new adventure.
While I was looking into some summer clothes to buy (because I have ZERO living in the North), I realized how boring lawyers fashion can be. I mean no offense to anyone who enjoys the classic buttoned-up lawyer style, but it’s just not for me. I abhor plainness and typical law fashion is just so plain. “Why can’t I just dress how I want!?” I thought. “There’s no reason why, as long as I remain professional, that I can’t put on some interesting belts, asymmetrical lines, interesting patterns and layers. Cause why not?! Why should I have to sacrifice creativity for the sake of looking “professional”? The answer is, I’m not! I have chosen to dress how I like and express my individuality exactly how I like. It’s hard enough studying law. I shouldn’t have to give up part of who I am too... So in 2023, I’m just not.
Stay tuned for some of my outfit inspiration!

I adore looks that feature monochrome and sleek long lines. It looks so interesting to the eye and yet so simple. I’m quite tall but something about dresses and sweaters that go down to my shoes.

(Disclaimer: I’m not trying to discourage anyone from pursuing law. Just trying to prepare anyone considering it)
Law School is exhausting and very difficult. Everyday the reading stacks up and it’s so easy to fall behind. First, make absolutely sure law is right for you. Talk to attorneys, try to shadow someone, work in law somehow, you can also ask current students (including me)!
That said, when you find your niche in law, things tend to work out for you!

What I love so much about fashion is the capacity for nearly limitless self-expression. The combinations of colors, patterns and structures of patterns creates a type of wearable art. Fashion also makes a lasting impact in our daily lives. We are judged and assessed based on how we dress for better or for worse. While I personally don’t care for conformity for social acceptance, there is some pressure to do so to avoid the sharp eyes of others. To that I say, screw it! Wear what you like how you like. Odds are it will become fashionable eventually and what everyone called ugly they’ll be clawing to get.
Don’t know how this turned into a lecture but you get the point!

I don’t know what it is about this waist belt but I have been obsessed with it! Its an interesting accent to an otherwise simple attorney look. Definitely on the list to buy soon.

Happy New Year everyone!
This is my 2023 vision board. I realize that the path I take in law will likely be different from my friends and that’s okay. This year I’m going to put in a more concerted effort to avoid comparing myself to others. Every time I have done so, I have suffered more than if I just minded my own business.
This year I’m also going to be more intentional about blazing my own path regardless of who’s doing the same around me. This applies to my fashion sense, my interests, my academics and my career.
Happy New Year everyone and I hope you do great things this year!!

Waiting for my 1st semester grades is one of the worst experiences ever. Don’t recommend.
