Happy birthday, even a day late! 💚
Long ago I started a flower crown series with the InuGang and Miroku was the next on the list. I figured your birthday was a good way to ease into bringing it back.

A new tool lets artists add invisible changes to the pixels in their art before they upload it online so that if it’s scraped into an AI training set, it can cause the resulting model to break in chaotic and unpredictable ways.
The tool, called Nightshade, is intended as a way to fight back against AI companies that use artists’ work to train their models without the creator’s permission. Using it to “poison” this training data could damage future iterations of image-generating AI models, such as DALL-E, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion, by rendering some of their outputs useless—dogs become cats, cars become cows, and so forth. MIT Technology Review got an exclusive preview of the research, which has been submitted for peer review at computer security conference Usenix.
AI companies such as OpenAI, Meta, Google, and Stability AI are facing a slew of lawsuits from artists who claim that their copyrighted material and personal information was scraped without consent or compensation. Ben Zhao, a professor at the University of Chicago, who led the team that created Nightshade, says the hope is that it will help tip the power balance back from AI companies towards artists, by creating a powerful deterrent against disrespecting artists’ copyright and intellectual property. Meta, Google, Stability AI, and OpenAI did not respond to MIT Technology Review’s request for comment on how they might respond.
Zhao’s team also developed Glaze, a tool that allows artists to “mask” their own personal style to prevent it from being scraped by AI companies. It works in a similar way to Nightshade: by changing the pixels of images in subtle ways that are invisible to the human eye but manipulate machine-learning models to interpret the image as something different from what it actually shows.

here's the sketch page for masaru's tattoos. These are heavily inspired by my sl avatar's tats that were created by Vezzo Ink.
I made a ref collage which is under the cut
Tumblr media
I have my avatar wear either the merilin or summy tats by vezzo ink. the succubus womb tat was created by +Moon Child+. but i referenced general anime succubus tats more than the tat i have on sl.

i'm pleased with the arm tats. (original sketch under the cut).
Tumblr media
well technically this is the pencil sketch scan with a digital color plan on top. i drew this in my sketchbook, which is what i do for a lot of my digital stuff.
i did finally manage to figure out his tattoos on a separate sketch that i'll scan soon & give more design context. i will say his designs are heavily inspired by the tatts i have on my avatar for masaru in sl.

i sometimes wonder if if traditional art just doesn't do well on tumblr or i just get buried in tags. my instagram has always gotten more traction than here. not that i care much, i make art for myself. i just find it strange how its been so consistent for years.

Re-blogging since this is due very soon on 10/30/23
The US Copyright Office is opening a public comment period around AI
American friends! The US Copyright Office (which we know exerts huuuge influence in how these things are treated elsewhere) wants to hear opinions on copyright and AI.
"The US Copyright Office is opening a public comment period around AI and copyright issues beginning August 30th as the agency figures out how to approach the subject."
We can assume that the opposing side will definitely be using all of their lobbying power towards widespread AI use, so this is a very good chance to let them know your thoughts on AI and how art and creative content of all kinds should be protected.

Really appreciate that this post seems to be beneficial.
This is actually my first doll repaint. I’ve sculpted, sewn, and painted many things before this so it helps make this easier.
Then there’s the fact I’ve watched a shit Ton of videos by dollightfull, lovely4u, and hextian. Watched many other on YouTube too. The doll community on there has a lot of tutorials and process videos. I’d recommend dollightful if you’re new to repaints. her videos are so thorough.
The only thing I did differently from most YouTube doll artists is I used clear gesso to prime the doll, and polyurethane varnish to seal it. Mr.superclear and most spray sealers/primers are toxic and I’d rather not deal with that. Same with soft pastels, some brands contain heavy metals. Always research your materials for safety. Besides that tho, I already own paint and am good with them.
hi im new to doll customizing and i wanted to know what doll you were using for your current project
the proportions look super cute and your face up looks great!
I’m using a blank nendoroid head and a ymy 11 cm doll body. Ymy is really close to obitsu’s proportions but ymy’s joints are more secure and it even comes with a stand. I originally used a obitsu 11 head and body but I ended up not liking them much.
Ymy body:

Nendoroid head:

Some people take already existing bits and pieces from already painted nendoroids and customize them but I’d rather start with something blank and not ruin finished nendoroid parts. AliExpress sells a lot of doll stuff including clothes too.
