Inspirational people
To create this website we were inspired by some artists, who try to make a change and save our planet through some innovations in fashion industry. For example 2nd year student Monika Kis created face masks made out of onions, They are biomaterial and safe for the environment.
Another example is Sarah Harbarth who designed shoe soles made out of banana peels. They are biodegradable and harmless. Next people who inspired us with that project were two influencers who created cruelty-free leather made out of cactus leaves, that prevents from killing 1 billion animals for fashion industry. This organic leather is called Desserto.
Andy Goldsworthy is a British artist, who leads the website, where he shows instalations that involve natural, organic materials after passing some time. Mainly, he is a sculptor and photographer, however Goldsworthy makes his projects out of rocks, ice, plants. Thus spreading awarness, that nothing lasts forever and the landscapes will change one day.

This is our final look, personification of water pollution. I used various shades of blue and white to paint the waves on the body. I decided to do the simple but effective make-up with a blue accent on the eyes. I bronzed my model’s cheeks quite intensively and applied peachy blush to enhance the contour of her face. I kept the lips soft by applying nude lipstick and gloss. The finishing touch was highlighter to acheive glowy effect. Ela created a two textured hairstyle by flattening the hair on the top and then backcombing the rest and attaching wefts in between to achieve high volume look. She used little bows made by me out of plastic bags and a wire as a hair adornments.
Ela took care of the skirt by sewing fabric dress material to the short which were the base for the outfit, then she covered the whole with thick plastic material and incorporated bubble wrap in between. Then she glued the rubbish bits like cans and box fillers to it as adornments. I created two large bows by wrapping a wire around bubble foil and attached them to the top.

These are our initial mood boards with pictures that inspired us to create our third final look, personification of water pollution. We wanted to focus on the eyes while doing the make-up and put some blue accent, make the skin look glowy and fresh  and create a contrast by achieving high volume on backcombed hair with attached extensions as it was planned in designs.

Drawings of our designs for the third final look imitating water pollution. The only thing that we changed was make-up as we decided to keep it simple with just a gentle touch of blue focusing on the eyes.

To create whole third piece, which was about water pollution, we used some of the collected rubbish, for example tealight cups, cans, plastic foil, bubble wrap, box fillers and insides of bars and crisps packaging, that were silver and shiny. Also, we prepared bows out of colourful plastic bags and bubble wrap.

Our second look! Personification of COVID-19. Body painting presents colourful molecules of the coronavirus on the purple base so everything works well together, The colours match, the balance and nice contrast is kept. The make-up designed for our model to look sick and tired is accurate, so is the outfit made out of face masks.

Mood board presenting the pictures of the coronavirus molecules under the microscope, this was our inspiration to create body painting. Huge thanks to our tutor who has come up with such idea, as it was the main element that made the whole look like an actual virus imitation.

Drawings of our designs for the second look which is the personification of COVID-19. Body painting presenting colourful molecules of the virus under the microscope, bald cap painted the same way as the body. Make-up designed to make the face look sick and tired as the effect of illness. Plain white top with some adornments (3D molecules made out of aluminium foil and toothpicks) so we don’t overload the whole look. Black skirt covered with separetely packed masks sticked to it as initially we were planning to create an installation at the university so the guests could help themselves with masks while all the guidelines and rules regarding disinfection would be followed.

Pictures present bald cap application. The whole process started with flattening the hair out with Gafquat mixed with water and applied with a wooden spatula, dried it out using a hairdryer, then brushed in with a comb. With the use of pins and ensuring all the hair is flattened and sleek we put the cap on, cut it out on the sides to make a space for our model’s ears, sticked it with prozeit glue and blended into the skin with acetone. We also used bondo cream to make sure the edges are not too harsh. Another step was painting it the same colour and pattern as the body, which are colourful molecules on the purple layout.

Our second look presents COVID-19 personification. The costume was made out of the masks attached to the plain black skirt. The main focus of that look was body painting, make-up and the bald cap. Body painting shows the appearance of colourful molecules of the virus, that affected the whole world, from under the microscope. Face make-up was designed to make the model look sick and tired. To complete the whole look we made small 3D molecules  out of aluminium foil balls and toothpicks attached to them and covered in foil as well.

These are our initial designs, although while creating the looks we decided to keep the make-up and body painting less intense and colourful as we did not want to overload the look and we wanted all the parts to match together and keep the balance.
